In his apostolic exhortation Evangelii gaudium, in which Pope Francis wrote about some of the modern world challenges, he pointed out to the challenges for urban cultures emphasizing the fact, that “the new cultures (…) constantly being born in these vast new expanses where Christians are no longer the customary interpreters or generators of meaning” along with changes undergoing there “create are a privileged locus of the new evangelization” (EG 73). The Pope also noted that “this challenges us to imagine innovative spaces and possibilities for prayer and communion which are more attractive and meaningful for city dwellers” (ibidem). Responding to the Pope’s appeal, the author of this article addresses the issue of the future of the pastoral ministry carried out in the cities in the spirit of the pastoral conversion and missionary pastoral ministry (EG 25; 33-35). at the beginning, he presents the chosen sociological determinants concerning the urban pastoral ministry (1), then he describes the theological grounds of the urban pastoral ministry, pointing out to the teaching of the Magisterium regarding the pastoral conversion and missionary pastoral ministry (2). The final result of his reflections is depicting the lines of action which would lead to the renewal and development of the pastoral ministry in the cities in Poland (3).

Pastoral Psychology is a discipline which aids Pastoral Theology with understanding the mechanisms that influence contemporary man’s actions and life choices. The interdisciplinary approach can bear especially good fruits in the field of individual pastoral ministry as well as in leading small communities. One requirement of such an integrated collaboration of both theological disciplines is the methodological correctness. In such a way we can avoid the danger of confusing the pastoral work with a kind of psychological therapy.

Dyskusja nad rozumieniem teologii pastoralnej oraz jej statusem metodologicznym trwa już od wielu lat. Do jej rozwoju przyczynił się także II Sobór Watykański, który zaoferował nowe perspektywy jej rozwoju, nakreślił odnowione cele i sugerował odmienny styl i metody badań. Dlatego zagadnienie statusu metodologicznego teologii pastoralnej jest zagadnieniem aktualnym także dziś. Jego specyfikę wyznacza odwoływanie się w badaniach pastoralnych zarówno do źródeł teologicznych jak i pozateologicznych. Autorzy artykułu podejmują próbę określenia relacji teologii pastoralnej do jej nauk pomocniczych, próbując zarazem ukazać istotę psychologii pastoralnej, pedagogiki pastoralnej i socjologii pastoralnej. Opisują specyfikę interdyscyplinarnego uprawiania teologii pastoralnej, koncentrując się dziedzinach pozateologicznych. Proponują także pewne sugestie metodologiczne, które mają być punktem wyjścia do merytorycznej dyskusji i zaproponowania nowych rozwiązań.
The debates related to the understanding of pastoral theology are being held continuously. The Second Vatican Council has exceptionally contributed to this development, since its pastoral character led to offering prospects for setting new goals and for designing new style and methods of research. Therefore it is worth triggering off a reflection on the method of applying pastoral theology. It is of specific character, since it draws from two sources – both theological and non-theological. The authors of this article have been inspired by the document issued by the International Theological Commission Theology today: Perspectives, Principles and Criteria (2012), which emphasizes the fact that the practical theology has greatly profited from being combined with sociology, psychology and pedagogy (No. 81). Therefore, they decided to attempt to specify the relationship between pastoral theology and these sciences. They ask whether pastoral psychology, pedagogy and sociology are sub-disciplines of pastoral theology, sub-fields of non-theological sciences or whether they are interdisciplinary sciences of theoretical and practical character, whose achievements are exploited in the process of creating theological models of the pastoral activity, comprising also the paths for it. Carrying out such considerations, the authors remind the essence and goals of pastoral theology, they stress its nature, which is both prescriptive and practical, presenting at the same time its methods. Furthermore, they discuss the specifics of practicing interdisciplinary pastoral theology, concentrating on the non-theological fields. Finally, they propose some theological suggestions, stipulating explicitly that they are not of the conclusive character and they are just supposed to initiate a substantive discussion aiming at formulating new solutions.

The main objective of pastoral theologians is to develop theologically accurate and practically effective models of salvific activity of the Church, known as pastoral care. A pastoral model is a simplified, descriptive, graphical reflection of the whole or a part of the complex salvific activity of the Church, embracing both a normative and practical element of the activity, which makes it possible to analyze and evaluate it, as well as to offer some predictions for the future (N. Hepp). The aim of this article is to present the state of research concerning the current models of salvific activity of the Church within the scope of pastoral theology and to direct us towards a need to develop new models that will take the socio-cultural context into account. Nowadays, we can talk of three such models that have been scientifically discussed on a global scale (the human-divine model by F. X. Arnold, the community model by F. Klostermann, and the preferential option for the poor). It seems, then, that there is a space for a new model of salvific activity of the Church, centered on the principle of love, or alternatively, the model of dialogue.

Współczesna teologia pastoralna podkreśla rolę planowania w prowadzeniu działalności duszpasterskiej. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono praktyczne narzędzia służące do planowania duszpasterskiego w oparciu o metodę duszpasterskiego rozeznania włoskiego pastoralisty S. Lanzy. Metoda ta obejmuje trzy etapy: analizę i ocenę sytuacji, decyzję duszpasterską i projekt, realizację i weryfikację. Każdy z tych etapów wymaga zastosowania odpowiednich narzędzi. Wiele z tych narzędzi wyrasta z doświadczeń świeckiej teorii organizacji i zarządzania. Ich zastosowanie w praktyce duszpasterskiej może pomóc w bardziej skutecznym działaniu. Należy jednak zawsze pamiętać, iż prawdziwą naturą planowania duszpasterskiego jest rozeznawanie woli Bożej.
Contemporary pastoral theology emphasizes the role of planning in pastoral ministry. This article presents practical tools for pastoral planning based on the method of pastoral discernment of the Italian pastoralist S. Lanza. This method consists of three phases: analysis and evaluation of the situation, pastoral decision and project, its implementation and verification. Each of these steps requires the use of appropriate tools. Many of these tools come from the theory of experience of secular organization and management. Their use in pastoral practice can help pastors operate more efficiently. However, one should always remember that the true nature of pastoral planning is to discern the will of God.

Mając na uwadze zadania ewangelizacyjne parafii we współczesnym świecie, Kongregacja Duchowieństwa, w dniu 29 czerwca 2020 roku wydała Instrukcję Nawrócenie pastoralne wspólnoty parafialnej w posłudze misji ewangelizacyjnej Kościoła. Dokument ten, składający się z dziesięciu rozdziałów, zawiera wyjaśnienie licznych przepisów CIC dotyczących parafii i duszpasterzy. Autor omawia trzy podstawowe, najbardziej „newralgiczne” rozdziały Instrukcji: VII. Parafia i inne jednostki wewnętrzne diecezji. VIII. Formy zwyczajne i nadzwyczajne powierzenia opieki pasterskiej o wspólnotę parafialną. IX. Funkcje i posługi parafialne. Postanowienia tych rozdziałów w przeważającej mierze odnoszą się do określonych norm CIC, dotyczących przede wszystkim parafii oraz osób i instytucji z nią związanych. Ukazano w nich rolę parafii jako szczególnego miejsca w misji ewangelizacyjnej Kościoła, a także wyjaśniono wiele kwestii związanych z posługą duszpasterską kapłanów (przede wszystkim proboszczów), diakonów, osób konsekrowanych i wiernych świeckich.
Taking into account the evangelization tasks of the parish in the modern world, on June 29, 2020, the Congregation of the Clergy issued the Instruction “Pastoral conversion of the parish community in the service of the evangelizing mission of the Church”. This document, which is divided into ten chapters, explains the many CIC regulations regarding parishes and pastors. The author discusses three basic, most “critical” chapters of the Instruction: VII. The parish and other internal units of the diocese. VIII. Ordinary and extraordinary forms of entrusting pastoral care to the parish community. IX. Functions and parish services. The provisions of these chapters overwhelmingly refer to certain CIC norms concerning, first and foremost, parishes and people and institutions associated with them. They show the role of the parish as a special place in the Church’s evangelizing mission, and explain many issues related to the pastoral ministry of priests (especially parish priests), deacons, consecrated persons and lay faithful.

The anthropological, cultural, social and religious changes taking place over the last decades have strongly influenced the shape of marriage and family life. By reading “the signs of the times, ”the Church undertakes a reflection on issues related to marriage and the family. In the dimension of the Catholic Church, this reflection is made especially during synods of bishops which yield apostolic exhortations presenting renewed visions of pastoral care. Regarding marriage and family, they are found in John Paul II’s exhortation Familiaris Consortio and Francis’ exhortation Amoris Laetitia. This article addresses the issue connected with mutual relationships between the pastoral concepts contained in these documents. Its presentation revolves around three parts which correspond to the methodology of pastoral-theological reflection: evangelical discernment of the situation of marriage and the family (cairological premise), establishment of pastoral paradigms (criteriological premise) and directions of pastoral solutions (pastoral-praxeological conclusion). The article shows both Amoris Laetitia’s continuation of the concept of pastoral care of families presented in Familiaris Consortio and the originality of thoughts and change of pastoral paradigms in the teaching of Pope Francis.

The article discusses the missionary option as indicated by Pope Francis in his first apostolic exhortation. This challenging option can be lived fully only through a total commitment of all church structures. That is why it is interesting to reflect how one of the parish structures, namely the pastoral council, can contribute – according to its competences – to put into practice what has been enunciated in Evangelii gaudium.A particular contribution of the parish pastoral council consists primarily in the development of an adequate parish pastoral plan, which would have as its main goal to educate the parish as a missionary community, responsible for the transmission of the Christian faith in today’s world. The article also features some directions from the Papal document which must be taken into account and some practical suggestions which aid in reaching the delineated goals. A commitment of the parish pastoral council to fulfil this missionary choice enables this structure to see its role as oriented “to promote conformity of the life and actions of the People of God with the Gospel”.

On 20th July 2020 Congregation for the Clergy issued an instruction The pastoral conversion of the Parish community in the service of the evangelising mission of the Church. This document brings together the previous teachings of the Magisterium regarding the Parish community, approaching them from the perspective of the Pope Francis’s teaching calling for pastoral conversion of the whole Church, which should result in the missionary attitude of bringing the message of Gospel to all the people. Issuing of the instruction evoked different responses. Some of them were positive, praising the presenting of the integrated knowledge regarding the legal basis of the Parrish community functioning, as well as speaking highly of this document in the context of mapping out a wide range of the contemporary circumstances in which the parishes function. Also, providing the inspiration for the renewal of the Parish Ministry was ap-preciated. However, some criticisms were also raised, regarding the lack of new solutions aiming at involving the lay faithful in the life of the Parish community, putting too little emphasis on the necessity of the personal parishes development and the offer of the detailed pastoral methods. The author describes the main ideas included in this document, which has not reached a wider readership in Poland. At the same time, he (1), presents the discussion that the issuing of the instruction has evoked (2), referring to the document itself and suggesting some inspiration for creative searching for the ways of reaching the renewal of the Parish community in the context of the Pastoral conversion (3).

Jean-Marie Lustiger admired John Paul II and he was devoted to him. They both had similar origin. The Cardinal of Paris often accompanied the pope in his pastoral visits. He perceived John Paul II as the man of Providence. He was convinced that God had prepared him to this role. Jean-Marie Lustiger emphasized the attitudes of John Paul II that attracted the attention and admiration of observers. For instance: pray, holiness, attentive pastor and good relation with young people. Jean-Marie Lustiger as an attentive observer also focused his attention on the pastoral methods of John Paul II. In his utterances he often perceived the following methods: each person was important, defense of person’s dignity, the ability to speak with each man, modern language, importance of the pastoral visits and sui generis spiritual pedagogic. Jean-Marie Lustiger noticed radical change of perspective in preaching and in pastoral action of John Paul II. According to him the pope perceived the challenges of the modern times, evaluated needs of the humanity and gave the appropriate answers. For these he did not choose politics, sociology or even anthropology as a reflection but addressed to the hurt human who was redeem by Jesus Christ.

Parafia nie jest z ustanowienia Bożego, lecz jest wytworem Kościoła historycznego. W niej realizuje się wspólnota wierzących w Jezusa Chrystusa przez przepowiadanie słowa Bożego, życie wiarą w miłości braterskiej oraz sprawowanie Eucharystii i inne czynności liturgiczne. Nie pomniejszając elementu łaski, nieograniczonego działania samego Boga, misteryjnego charakteru misji Kościoła, można poddać analizie teologicznopastoralnej widzialną strukturę organizacyjną parafii, pokazując możliwości planowania strategicznego w celu zoptymalizowania efektów posługi duszpasterskiej. Celem tej refleksji jest poszukiwanie odpowiedzi na pytanie, jak dobrze przygotować, implementować, a także ewaluować plan strategiczny w parafii? Ewaluacja nie ma na celu pomniejszania czyjejś roli w trakcie implementacji wypracowanej dla parafii strategii pastoralnej, lecz stanowi punkt wyjścia do dyskusji nad korektami starego i wypracowaniem nowego, udoskonalonego planu strategicznego dla parafii. Artykuł ma charakter przeglądowy, a jego ważnym tworzywem – obok źródeł teologicznych – są opracowania z zakresu współczesnej prakseologii pastoralnej.
The parish is not established by God, but it is a result of the activity of the historical Church. In the parish, a community of believers in Jesus Christ is realized through the preaching of the word of God, the life of faith in brotherly love and the celebration of the Eucharist and other liturgical activities. Without underestimating the element of grace, the unlimited action of God himself, the mysterious character of the mission of the Church, the visible organizational structure of the parish can be subjected to a theological and pastoral analysis. Strategic planning opportunities can be shown to optimize the effects of pastoral ministry. The aim of this reflection is to look for an answer to the question how to prepare, implement and finally evaluate the strategic plan in the parish? Evaluation is not intended to diminish one’s role during the implementation of the pastoral strategy developed for the parish, but it is the starting point for a discussion on the corrections of the old and the development of a new, improved strategic plan for the parish. The article is of review nature and its important material, apart from theological sources, are studies in the field of modern pastoral praxeology.

Les scènes de suicide de Damon ou de Chriséide ; le contexte violent du mariage de Placidie montrent les protagonistes dans les situations traumatisantes. Toutefois ils gardent tous leur sang-froid, en préférant agir au lieu de se lamenter. Ainsi Honoré d’Urfé montre aux lecteurs la manière de survivre les situations dramatiques. Il a écrit son roman pour les lecteurs qui ont pour la plupart survécu au cauchemar des guerres de religion, qui n’étaient pas étrangers aux choix dramatiques, à l’imminence de la mort et qui ont réalisé que dans une situation critique, ce n’était pas la peur, mais une action et un pragmatisme qui pouvaient sauver leur vie. D’Urfé est un excellent pédagogue. Dans le roman pastoral, en confrontant ses héros à des choix dramatiques, il montre aux lecteurs quels types d’actions sont rationnels et efficaces, et en quoi la vie diffère de la littérature.
L’Astrée, a pastoral novel of Honoré d’Urfé abounds in dramatic episodes that shatter the bucolic idyll. The suicide scenes of Damon or Chriséide; the violent context of Placidie’s marriage show the protagonists in traumatic situations. However, they all keep their cool, preferring to act instead of lamenting. Thus Honoré d’Urfé shows readers how to survive dramatic situations. He wrote his novel for readers who had mostly survived the nightmare of religious wars, who were no strangers to dramatic choices, the imminence of death, and who realized that in a critical situation, It was not fear, but action and pragmatism that could save their lives. D’Urfé is an excellent teacher. In the pastoral novel, by confronting its heroes with dramatic choices, it shows readers what kinds of actions are rational and effective, and how life differs from literature.

Opis:
Pastoral accompaniment of spouses in the development of faith is part of the essence of the Church’s salvific activity towards people living in the sacrament of marriage. The pastoral accompaniment of the spouses is realized by the presbyters through evangelization, the preaching of the word of God, the catechesis of the spouses and parents, sacramental ministry and spiritual direction, and finally especially through the holiness of priestly life. The research carried out among the clergy of the Archdiocese of Przemyśl has shown the need for permanent formation of the presbyters to support the pastoral accompaniment of the spouses and motivate the clergy for this ministry.
Duszpasterskie towarzyszenie małżonkom w rozwoju wiary wpisuje się w istotę zbawczej działalności Kościoła skierowanej wobec osób żyjących w sakramencie małżeństwa. Wsparcie małżonków płynące ze strony duszpasterzy jest realizowane przez prezbiterów poprzez ewangelizację, przepowiadanie słowa Bożego, katechezę małżonków i rodziców, posługę sakramentalną i kierownictwo duchowe, w końcu szczególnie poprzez świętość kapłańskiego życia. Przeprowadzone badania wśród duchownych archidiecezji przemyskiej dowiodły potrzebę formacji stałej prezbiterów, wspomagającej duszpasterskie towarzyszenie małżonków i motywującej duchownych do tej posługi.

This article intends to show that the image of the Devil can be understood at the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG) not only as a religious symbol, but also as an agent of fear and an instrument of pastoral power, updated by this Church that endorses the neoliberal standards of success, present in Brazilian society. It also describes the image of the Devil as an audiovisual discursive construction and indicates its meaning for the religious imagery on the UCKG stages. In order to do so, the text invokes the studies of Patrícia Birman about the UCKG, as well as the theories of Bauman and of authors who elaborated on Foucault’s thoughts on fear and pastoral power. This study has its corpus based on videos of exorcisms created on the UCKG stages and shared on YouTube by the Church itself.
Este artigo pretende mostrar que a imagem do Diabo pode ser compreendida na Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus (IURD) não somente como símbolo religioso, mas também como agente do medo e instrumento de poder pastoral, atualizado por essa igreja, que endossa os padrões neoli-berais de sucesso presentes na sociedade brasileira. Também descreve a imagem do Diabo como uma construção discursiva audiovisual e indica seu significado para o imaginário religioso nos palcos da IURD. Para tanto, este texto tráz os estudos de Patrícia Birman sobre a IURD e mobili-za as teorias de Bauman e de autores que se debruçaram sobre as teorias de Foucault sobre o me-do e o poder pastoral. Este estudo tem seu corpus composto de vídeos de exorcismos criados nos palcos da IURD e compartilhados no YouTube pela própria Igreja.

The article presents the situation of the specific pastoral service after the Second Vatican Council with focus on the pastoral deaf service. At the beginning, the differences between the specific vs specialist pastoral service are clarified, classifying the deaf persons as for the specific pastoral service. Subsequently, referring to the history of the pastoral deaf service, the influence of the Second Vatican Council on the pastoral deaf service formation is analysed, with a particular emphasis on the situation in Poland. The performed analysis of the Council documents concerning the pastoral deaf care has proven carelessness rather than care for this group of people, attending them only with the poor and the sick. The Council has not been also a breakthrough moment for the pastoral deaf service as well as the activities in this field have been a bottom-up process, initiated by dedicated priests and consecrated or secular persons.
W powyższym artykule została przedstawiona sytuacja duszpasterstwa specjalnego po Soborze Watykańskim II na przykładzie duszpasterstwa niesłyszących. Na wstępie wyjaśniono różnice pomiędzy duszpasterstwem specjalnym a specjalistycznym, kwalifikując osoby niesłyszące w zakres duszpasterstwa specjalnego. Następnie na kanwie zarysu historii duszpasterstwa niesłyszących przyjrzano się wpływowi Soboru Watykańskiego II na kształtowanie tegoż duszpasterstwa, ze szczególnym zaznaczeniem gruntu Kościoła w Polsce. Przeprowadzona analiza dokumentów soborowych pod kątem objęcia troską osób niesłyszących wykazała raczej brak troski niż troskę soboru wobec tych osób i zajęcie się nimi tylko przy okazji osób chorych i ubogich. Sobór nie okazał się też momentem przełomowym w dziedzinie duszpasterstwa niesłyszących, a działania na polu tego duszpasterstwa rodziły się oddolnie z inicjatywy gorliwych duszpasterzy, osób konsekrowanych i zaangażowanych świeckich.
