Opis:
Decision making with multiple criteria requires preferences elicited from the decision maker to determine a solution set. Models of preferences, that follow upon the concept of nondominated solutions introduced by Yu (1974), are presented and compared within a unified framework of cones. Polyhedral and nonpolyhedral, convex and nonconvex, translated, and variable cones are used to model different types of preferences. Common mathematical properties of the preferences are discussed. The impact of using these preferences in decision making is emphasized.

This paper presents a concept of an Integrated System of Supporting Information Management in Passenger Traffic (ISSIMPT). The novelty of the system is an integration of six modules: video monitoring, counting passenger flows, dynamic information for passengers, the central processing unit, surveillance center and vehicle diagnostics into one coherent solution. Basing on expert evaluations, we propose to present configuration design problem of the system as a multi-objectives discrete static optimization problem. Then, hybrid method joining properties of weighted sum and ε-constraint methods is applied to solve the problem. Solution selections based on hybrid method, using set of exemplary cases, are shown.

We devote this paper to study of multiobjective programming problems with interval valued objective functions. For this, we consider two order relations LU and LS on the set of all closed intervals and propose several concepts of Pareto optimal solutions and generalized convexity. Based on generalized convexity (viz. LU and LS-pseudoconvexity) and generalized differentiability (viz. gHdifferentiablity) of interval valued functions, the KKT optimality conditions for aforesaid problems are obtained. The theoretical development is illustrated by suitable examples.

Opis:
Decision-making by the two negotiating parties is simulated by a prisoner’s dilemma game. The game is formulated in a quantum manner, where players strategies are unitary transformations of qubits built over the basis of opposite decision options. Quantum strategies are correlated through the mechanism of quantum entanglement and the result of the game is obtained by the collapse of the resulting transformed state. The range of strategies allowed for quantum players is richer than in case of a classical game and therefore the result of the game can be better optimized. On the other hand, the quantum game is save against eavesdropping and the players can be assured that this type of quantum arbitration is fair. We show that quantum prisoner’s dilemma has more favorable Nash equilibria than its classical analog and they are close to the Pareto optimal solutions. Some economical examples of utilizing quantum game Nash equilibria are proposed.

Sufficient conditions are given for the global Pareto solution of the multicriterial optimization problem to be in a given convex subset of the domain. In the case of maximizing real valued-functions, the conditions are sufficient and necessary without any convexity type assumptions imposed on the function. In the case of linearly scalarized vector-valued functions the conditions are sufficient and necessary provided that both the function is concave and the scalarization is increasing with respect to the cone generating the preference relation.

As for now, optimization techniques are not very popular in real engineering, though they are taught at universities and are recognized as very useful in design and management. Probably the main reason is that mathematical models of objects are difficult to device and, what more criteria may not be precisely defined. A way to enhance an effective implementation of optimisation and MADM techniques to a real practice is a fuzzy logic approach to modelling an optimisation problem, if only the expert knowledge is at hand. It yields: a) avoiding the laborious and often not possible process of building an analytical model, b) makes it possible to use fuzzy and imprecise notions and aspects. In the paper there is proposed a procedure how to device and handle such models in the MATLAB environment to get a Pareto set solutions, in poly-optimisation. The methodology is illustrated on an example of a chemical reactor. The poly-optimal control is to be found. First, having stated criteria, as fuzzy and/or non-fuzzy notions (product quality and effectiveness, in the example), an expert arbitrarily defines decision variables (process temperature, time and mixing velocity), and their membership functions, then a mathematical model is established as a set of rules if - then (Fig. 1). This model may be intuitively verified and corrected by graphical presentations, as in Fig. 2. Then, a poly-optimisation is completed: either by survey of all possible solutions (Fig. 3) and reducing the set to the Pareto solutions (Figs. 4 - 6), or by mathematical optimization algorithms. In the example a first approach is adopted. The example is extended: a third non-fuzzy criterion is introduced (cost). (Figs. 7 - 9).Methodological conclusions are formulated, too.

Opis:
This article presents a new efficient optimization technique namely the Multi- Objective Improved Differential Evolution Algorithm (MOIDEA) to solve the multiobjective optimal power flow problem in power systems. The main features of the Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm are simple, easy, and efficient, but sometimes, it is prone to stagnation in the local optima. This paper has proposed many improvements, in the exploration and exploitation processes, to enhance the performance of DE for solving optimal power flow (OPF) problems. The main contributions of the DE algorithm are i) the crossover rate will be changing randomly and continuously for each iteration, ii) all probabilities that have been ignored in the crossover process have been taken, and iii) in selection operation, the mathematical calculations of the mutation process have been taken. Four conflicting objective functions simultaneously have been applied to select the Pareto optimal front for the multi-objective OPF. Fuzzy set theory has been used to extract the best compromise solution. These objective functions that have been considered for setting control variables of the power system are total fuel cost (TFC), total emission (TE), real power losses (RPL), and voltage profile (VP) improvement. The IEEE 30-bus standard system has been used to validate the effectiveness and superiority of the approach proposed based on MATLAB software. Finally, to demonstrate the effectiveness and capability of the MOIDEA, the results obtained by this method will be compared with other recent methods.

The Braess paradox in road planning presents a case, where adding a new connection in a road network may lead to delayed arrival because of violation of the balance in the traffic flow. The paper discusses a generalization of this paradox. The initial, the asymmetrical, and the Pareto optimal domain are identified. Administrative solution with the participation of a controller is introduced, which aims to minimize the time of arrival, and thus has an environmental aspect. The preferences of the groups of passengers in the vehicles are modeled by an analytical arctan-approximated utility. Nash arbitration is employed to find an optimal solution that maximizes the Nash utility criterion. It is performed over the optimal Pareto domain that is outlined in four stages. A numerical example with 40 vehicles and five types of preferences of the passengers demonstrates the ideas.

Any significant progress towards solving the problem has not been obtained so far. An objective of the present paper was to develop an evolutionary algorithm for multiobjective optimization of the structural elements of large spatial sections of ships. Selected elements of the multi-criteria optimization theory have been presented in detail. Methods for solution of the multi-criteria optimization problems have been discussed with the focus on the evolutionary optimization algorithms. In the paper an evolutionary algorithm where selection takes place based on the aggregated objective function combined with domination attributes as well as distance to the asymptotic solution, is proposed and applied to solve the problem of optimizing structural elements with respect to their weight and surface area for a high - speed vehicle-passenger catamaran structure, with taking into account several design variables such as plate thickness, scantlings of longitudinal stiffeners and transverse frames, and spacing between longitudinal and transversal members. Details of the computational models were kept at the level typical for conceptual design stage. Scantlings were analyzed by using the selected classification society rules. The results of numerical experiments with the use of the developed algorithm are presented. They show that the proposed genetic algorithm may be considered an efficient tool for multi-objective optimization of ship structures.
