Opis:
The Article presents an analysis of two analytical methods for determining inland unit traffic lane width. For the calculation has been selected down part of Odra River – between the bridge in Gryfino and bridge – motorway in Radziszewo. There was made a characteristics of chosen area and determined the maximum vessel for which the calculation has been made.

The increasing sizes of ships determine the interest in modifying the already existing solutions. Simulation models allow us to analyse the possible modernisation options. The article presents analysis results for the width of the fairway to Ystad, marked with buoys with respect to navigation safety. After a thorough analysis, taking into account the safety of navigation, further possibilities of development have been determined. Study results are aimed at designing new solutions in case of modernization of the approach channel to Ystad.

The growing number of large high powered vessels operated in shallow water ports is the reason that port authorities and terminal operators are interested in online monitoring of loads generated by vessels during manoeuvers close to hydrotechnical constructions. The test version of the loads measurement system based on the mobile laboratory and commercial version of monitoring system based on the cloud technology are presented in the paper.

Opis:
Santos Port is located in Brazilian coast, in an estuarine area inside Santos Bay named Baixada Santista. The currents behavior is forced by tides. The resulting tidal level variability (high tide, mean sea level and low tide) recorded from Santos Dock Company tide gauge (1940 to 2014) shows a consistent increasing trend. The estimation about the magnitude of mean sea level rise (MSLR) in recommendations, guidelines or requirements issued by different countries and agencies from 1990 provide examples of different approaches used around the world in comparison with the local trends obtained for Santos Port. It is concluded that MSLR will have a considerable impact upon the port and adjacent areas, with approximately 1.0 m rise estimated from 1990 to 2100. Baixada Santista is a lowland situated a few meters upper from the sea level and some areas are possible to be submerged in the end of this century. Not only the wetlands of mangroves will be affected, but also the infrastructures, residential zones and the port will face problems. The major SLR impacts upon port operation will be the reduction of freeboard of the quays, flooding of storage yards (and other low storage areas) and of the internal transport tracks or rails. Also the increasing sedimentation in the nautical areas of access channels, turning basins and berths, will induce more maintenance dredging.

Opis:
This article presents a dedicated kinematic method of determining a safe fairway bend width with a specific turn angle and arc radius as the function of ship parameters and prevailing navigational conditions on the fairway. The assumed approach takes into consideration monoeuvring and navigational components of the safe fairway bend width. The method is based on an analysis of the results of numerical tests conducted on a model representing all physically possible movements of ship's centre of gravity in the bend. The developed method was initially verified on the Ińskie bend, part of the Świnoujście-Szczecin fairway.

Opis:
This article presents a comparison between the use of analytical methods and simulations for dimensioning the approach to the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Świnoujście. Parameters of rectilinear sections of the fairway were obtained by analytical methods, widely used in traffic engineering. These methods are: the method of the Three Components, the Panama Canal method, the Canadian method, the method of the INM and the PIANC method. Dimensioning the approaching fairway to the LNG terminal in Świnoujście was conducted for two types of LNG tankers: Q-flex and Q-max. Results for simulation methods were obtained using a navigational bridge simulator. Results obtained using analytical and simulation methods allowed the comparison of parameters of the approach to the LND terminal in Świnoujście, and an indication of the optimal dimensioning methods of a fairway’s straight sections.

Opis:
Full Mission Bridge simulating became a valuable tool to assess the conditions for safe navigation during seaport development. The article presents an overview of the works carried out at the Lithuanian Maritime Academy. The specialists of the Academy together with the pilots of Klaipeda State Seaport performed a number of trainings and tests using Full Mission Bridge simulator, related to navigational safety assessment. Overviewed works concern a wide range of directions: development of the harbour navigation channel, introduction of two-way traffic of ships, ships sailing with tugboats, coordination with vessel traffic service, emergency response of the LNG vessel in case of various scenarios, extremely big ships accessibility studies, the boundary weather conditions assessment and so on.
