Opis:
A Novel Intelligent control of a Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) coupled with Photovoltaic (PV) system is proposed in this work. The utilization of a Re-lift Luo converter in conjunction with a Cascaded Artificial Neural Network (ANN) Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) method facilitates the optimization of power extraction from PV sources. UPQC is made up of a series and shunt Active Power Filter (APF), where the former compensates source side voltage quality issues and the latter compensates the load side current quality issues. The PV along with a series and shunt APFs of the UPQC are linked to a common dc-bus and for regulating a dc-bus voltage a fuzzy tuned Adaptive PI controller is employed. Moreover, a harmonics free reference current is generated with the aid of CNN assisted dq theory in case of the shunt APF. The results obtained from MATLAB simulation.

Opis:
The current task explores automatic generation control knowledge under old-style circumstances for a triple-arena scheme. Sources in area-1 are thermal-solar thermal (ST); thermalgeothermal power plant (GPP) in area-2 and thermal-hydro in area-3. An original endeavour has been set out to execute a new performance index named hybrid peak area integral squared error (HPA-ISE) and two-stage controller with amalgamation of proportional-integral and fractional order proportional-derivative, hence named as PI(FOPD). The performance of PI(FOPD) has been compared with varied controllers like proportional-integral (PI), proportional-integralderivative (PID). Various investigation express excellency of PI(FOPD) controller over other controller from outlook regarding lessened level of peak anomalies and time duration for settling. Thus, PI(FOPD) controller’s excellent performance is stated when comparison is undergone for a three-area basic thermal system. The above said controller’s gains and related parameters are developed by the aid of Artificial Rabbit Optimization (ARO). Also, studies with HPA-ISE enhances system dynamics over ISE. Moreover, a study on various area capacity ratios (ACR) suggests that high ACR shows better dynamics. The basic thermal system is united with renewable sources ST in area-1 also GPP in area-2. Also, hydro unit is installed in area-3. The performance of this new combination of system is compared with the basic thermal system using PI(FOPD) controller. It is detected that dynamic presentation of new system is improved. Action in existence of redox flow battery is also examined which provides with noteworthy outcome. PI(FOPD) parameters values at nominal condition are appropriate for higher value of disturbance without need for optimization.

Opis:
Disturbance rejection performance optimization with constraints on robustness for a multivariable process is commonly encountered in industrial control applications. This paper presents the tuning of a multi-loop Proportional Integral (PI) controller method to enhance the performance of load disturbance rejection using evolutionary optimization. The proposed design methodology is formulated to minimize the load disturbance rejection response and the input control energy under the constraints of robust stability. The minimum singular value of multiplicative uncertainty is considered a multi-loop system robust stability indicator. Optimization is performed to achieve the same, or higher level than the most-explored Direct Synthesis (DS) based multi-loop PI controller, which is derived from a conventional criterion. Simulation analysis clearly proved that the proposed multi-loop PI controller tuning method gives better disturbance rejection, and either, the same or a higher level of robust stability when compared to the DS-based multi-loop PI controller.

The article proposes a model in which Diffusion Approximation is used to analyse the TCP/AQM transmission mechanism in a multinode computer network. In order to prevent traffic congestion, routers implement AQM (Active Queue Management) algorithms. We investigate the influence of using RED-based AQM mechanisms and the fractional controller PIγ on the transport layer. Additionally, we examine the cases in which the TCP and the UDP flows occur and analyse their mutual influence. Both transport protocols used are independent and work simultaneously. We compare our solution with the Fluid Flow approximation, demonstrating the advantages of Diffusion Approximation.

The paper is a structured, in-depth analysis of dual active bridge modeling. In the research new, profound dual active bridge converter (DAB) circuit model is presented. Contrary to already described idealized models, all critical elements including numerous parasitic components were described. The novelty is the consideration of a threshold voltage of diodes and transistors in the converter equations. Furthermore, a lossy model of leakage inductance in an AC circuit is also included. Based on the circuit equations, a small-signal dual active bridge converter model is described. That led to developing control of the input and output transfer function of the dual active bridge converter model. The comparison of the idealized model, circuit simulation (PLECS), and an experimental model was conducted methodically and confirmed the high compatibility of the introduced mathematical model with the experimental one. Proposed transfer functions can be used when designing control of systems containing multiple converters accelerating the design process, and accurately reproducing the existing systems, which was also reported in the paper.

This research presents a combination of artificial neural network (ANN) with the grey wolf optimizer (GWO) to improve the power quality of a grid-connected distributed power generation system (DPGS). To assess the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, a grid-tied of small-scale wind energy conversion system (WECS) is chosen. The term power quality refers to voltage and frequency regulation, and limited harmonics. Power quality improvement is achieved through the cascaded control system's optimal tuning of three proportional-integral (PI) controllers of the grid-side inverter (GSI). However, because the DPGS model is computationally costly, the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model is utilized as an alternative model for DPGS. Furthermore, the ANN model is employed in conjunction with the GWO to boost the optimization precision and minimize the execution time of GWO. The considered power system was repetitively simulated to obtain the input-output datasets, which validate and train the ANN model. According to the ANN model's performance evaluation, the correlation coefficient (R) is close to one, while the mean squared error (MSE) is near zero. These findings demonstrate the ANN model's great accuracy in approximating the DPGS model. Using MATLAB/Simulink, the system's performance is evaluated using the optimum values obtained using GWO-ANN for various wind speed profiles. It showed the suggested power quality method’s improved stability, convergence behavior, the effectiveness of the control mechanism, and the robustness of the proposed topology.

Opis:
The Smart Grid environment gives more benefits for the consumers, whereas the power quality is one of the challenging factors in the smart grid environment. To protect the system equipment and increase the reliability, different filter technologies are used. Even though, consumers’ expectations towards the power quality are not fulfilled. To overcome these drawbacks and enhance the system reliability, a new Custom Power Devices (CPD) are introduced in the system. Among different CPDs, the Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) is one of the voltage compensating devices that is used to improve the power quality during distortions. When the distortions such as voltage swell and sag occur in the distribution system, the control strategy in the DVR plays a significant role. In this article, the DVR performance using Proportional Integral (PI), Proportional Resonant (PR) controllers are analyzed. A robust optimization algorithm called Self Balanced Differential Evolution (SBDE) is used to find the optimal gain values of the controllers in order to reach the target of global minimum error and obtain fast response. Then, a comparative analysis is performed between different controllers and verified that the performance of PR controller is superior than the other controllers. It has been found that the proposed PR controller strategy reduces the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) values for all types of faults. The proposed SBDE optimized DVR with PR controller reduces the THD value less than 4% under voltage distoration condition. The DVR topology is validated in MATLAB/SIMULINK in order to detect the disturbance and inject the voltage to compensate the load voltage.

As the traffic volume from various Internet of things (IoT) networks increases significantly, the need for adapting the quality of service (QoS) mechanisms to the new Internet conditions becomes essential. We propose a QoS mechanism for the IoT gateway based on packet classification and active queue management (AQM). End devices label packets with a special packet field (type of service (ToS) for IPv4 or traffic class (TC) for IPv6) and thus classify them as priority for real-time IoT traffic and non-priority for standard IP traffic. Our AQM mechanism drops only non-priority packets and thus ensures that real-time traffic packets for critical IoT systems are not removed if the priority traffic does not exceed the maximum queue capacity. This AQM mechanism is based on the PIα controller with non-integer integration order. We use fluid flow approximation and discrete event simulation to determine the influence of the AQM policy on the packet loss probability, queue length and its variability. The impact of the long-range dependent (LRD) traffic is also considered. The obtained results show the properties of the proposed mechanism and the merits of the PIα controller.

Opis:
The time delay element present in the PI controller brings dead-time compensation capability and shows improved performance for dead-time processes. However, design of robust time delayed PI controller needs much responsiveness for uncertainty in dead-time processes. Hence in this paper, robustness of time delayed PI controller has been analyzed for First Order plus Dead-Time (FOPDT) process model. The process having dead-time greater than three times of time constant is very sensitive to dead-time variation. A first order filter is introduced to ensure robustness. Furthermore, integral time constant of time delayed PI controller is modified to attain better regulatory performance for the lag-dominant processes. The FOPDT process models are classified into dead-time/lag dominated on the basis of dead-time to time constant ratio. A unified tuning method is developed for processes with a number of dead-time to time constant ratio. Several simulation examples and experimental evaluation are exhibited to show the efficiency of the proposed unified tuning technique. The applicability to the process models other than FOPDT such as high-order, integrating, right half plane zero systems are also demonstrated via simulation examples.

In this paper the control of a binary distillation column is described. This control is done with fuzzy logic, one with PI- like fuzzy controller and the other with modified PI fuzzy controller, using the minimal rules for fuzzy processing. This work is focused on model reduction of Wood and Berry binary distillation column to get the best performance. It is desired to minimize the rules in order to reduce the computation time to make a faster decision. Comparisons will be made between two versions of fuzzy controllers utilizing reduced rules to verify the outputs. The controlled variables are top composition with high concentration and bottom composition with low. To demonstrate the performance of the fuzzy PI control schemes, results are compared with a classical PI controller and optimal methods, like Differential Evolution (DE), Invasive Weed Optimization (IWO). The proposed structure is able to quickly track the parameter variation and perform better in load disturbances and also for set point changes. Then all the processes of the distillation column with itۥ s fuzzy controllers are simulated in MATLAB software as the results are shown.

Opis:
Przedstawione zostały zagadnienia wzbogacania węgla kamiennego w osadzarkach. Omówiono dwa układy technologiczne: z jedną osadzarką oraz układ z wzbogacaniem wtórnym przy wykorzystaniu dwóch osadzarek o tych samych parametrach. Opisano zjawisko windup, występujące w cyfrowych algorytmach PI oraz przedstawiono negatywne efekty, które ono powoduje. W celu ich ograniczenia, dokonano modyfikacji podstawowego algorytmu poprzez rozbudowanie go o układ kompensacji zjawiska windup. Przeprowadzono następnie badania symulacyjne układu bez modyfikacji oraz zmodyfikowanego algorytmu. Dokonano analizy porównawczej efektów wzbogacania z wykorzystaniem wspomnianych algorytmów dla wybranych układów technologicznych. Jako kryteria oceny przyjęto wartości parametrów dynamicznych procesu wzbogacania oraz wartości parametrów jakościowych produktu wyjściowego.
The issues of hard coal enrichment in jigs were introduced. Two technological systems were discussed: one with a set-up and a secondary enrichment system with the use of two jigging units with the same parameters. The windup phenomenon, occurring in digital PI algorithms and its negative effects were described. In order to limit them, a basic algorithm was modified by extending it to the windup compensation system. Then, simulation testing of the system without modification and modified algorithm was performed. A comparative analysis of the enrichment effects was performed using these algorithms for selected technological systems. Values of the dynamic parameters of the enrichment process and values of the quality parameters of the output product were used as the evaluation criteria.

The aim of this study is to design a control strategy for the angular rate (speed) of a DC motor by varying the terminal voltage. This paper describes various designs for the control of direct current (DC) motors. We derive a transfer function for the system and connect it to a controller as feedback, taking the applied voltage as the system input and the angular velocity as the output. Different strategies combining proportional, integral, and derivative controllers along with phase lag compensators and lead integral compensators are investigated alongside the linear quadratic regulator. For each controller transfer function, the step response, root locus, and Bode plot are analysed to ascertain the behaviour of the system, and the results are compared to identify the optimal strategy. It is found that the linear quadratic controller provides the best overall performance in terms of steady-state error, response time, and system stability. The purpose of the study that took place was to design the most appropriate controller for the steadiness of DC motors. Throughout this study, analytical means like tuning methods, loop control, and stability criteria were adopted. The reason for this was to suffice the preconditions and obligations. Furthermore, for the sake of verifying the legitimacy of the controller results, modelling by MATLAB and Simulink was practiced on every controller.

This paper proposes RT-LAB platform for realtime implementation of Luenberger observer based on speed sensorless scalar control of induction motor. The observed shaft speed is derived from lyapunov’s theory. It is shown by an extensive study that this Luenberger observer with PI anti-windup speed controller is completely satisfactory at (nominal, variable, reverse) speed references and it is also robust to load torque disturbance. The sensorless control algorithm along with the proposed Luenberger observer is modeled, built in the Host PC and successfully implemented in real-time using digital simulator OP5600. The experimental results observed in the GW-Instek digital oscilloscope’s screen validate the effectiveness of the proposed Luenberger observer for speed sensorless scheme.

This paper presents the modeling, control and simulation of an electric vehicle with four in-wheel 15 kw induction motors drive 4WDEV controlled by a direct torque control DTC strategy, where two control techniques are presented and compared for controlling the electric vehicle speed: the first one is based on a classical PI controller while the second one is based on a fuzzy logic controller (FLC). The aim is to evaluate the impact of the proposed FLC controller on the efficiency of the 4WDEV taking into account vehicle dynamics performances, autonomy and battery power consumption. The vehicle has been tested in different road constraints: straight road, sloping road and curved road to the right and left using the Matlab / Simulink environment. The analysis and comparison of the simulation results of FLC and PI controllers clearly show that the FLC ensures better performances and gives a good response without overshoot, zero steady state error and high load robustness rejection, compared to the PI controller which is present an overshoot equal 7.3980% and a rise time quite important (0.2157 s with PI controller and 0.1153 s with FLC). As well as the vehicle range has been increased by about 10.82 m throughout the driving cycle and that the energy consumption of the battery has been reduced by about 1.17% with FLC.

The paper presents a method for control of a mobile robot. The task of the Line-follower was to cover the route set programmatically as accurately as possible using the controllers P, PI or PID without the use of sensors to detect the line. The work also consists of a description of the mobile robot development and the results of the experimental research with discussion.
