Opis:
This paper presents design and application of advanced control scheme which integrates fuzzy logic concepts and genetic algorithms to track the maximum power point in photovoltaic system. The parameters of adopted fuzzy logic controller are optimized using genetic algorithm with innovative tuning procedures. The synthesized genetic algorithm which optimizes fuzzy logic controller is implemented and tested to achieve a precise control of the maximum power point response of the photovoltaic generator. The performance of the adopted control strategy is examined through a series of simulation experiments which prove good tracking properties and fast response to changes of different meteorological conditions such as isolation or temperature.

Opis:
The output characteristics of photovoltaic (PV) arrays are nonlinear and change with the solar irradiance and the cell's temperature. Therefore, a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique is needed to draw peak power from the solar array to maximize the produced energy. Among the hill climbing methods, the perturb and observe (P&O) method tracks the maximum power point (MPP) by repeatedly increasing or decreasing the output voltage at the MPP of the PV module. The implementation of the method is relatively simple, but it cannot track the MPP when the irradiance varies quickly with time. In addition, itmay cause system oscillation around the peak power points due to the effect of measurement noise. The incremental conductance (IncCond) method is also often used in PV systems. This method tracks the MPPs by comparing the incremental and instantaneous conductances of the solar array. This method requires longer conversion time, and a large amount of power loss results. In addition, extra hardware circuitry is required to implement the system. In this paper, it is shown that the negative effects associated with such a drawback can be greatly reduced if the intelligent method is used to improve P&O and IncCond algorithms. The perturbation step is continuously approximated by using fuzzy logic controller (FLC). By the digital simulation, the validity of the proposed control algorithm is proved.

Opis:
50th anniversary of tragic death of father Idzi Mański in Tatry Mountains brings back the memories about this salesian, musician, composer, teacher and mentor. We remember his distinctive, complete personality, musical talent, someone with wide horizons looking at the world from perspective of humanist and priest. On that basis he appears above all as a composer of mostly but not only religious music. His unique charisma of artist – composer amazes and fascinates us being heirs to his talent, nobility, humbleness and transparent humanity. Father Manski’s work is in many ways a phenomenon on the scale of broad spectrum of publicly available artistic work in the area of religious music in Poland. Almost his entire artistic work is in the form of manuscripts, which he would loan, pass on or give them away, and some were lost. Predatory communist system was destructive for the culture. It would not only censure but downright not allow the publication of the work of writers, poets, musicians. Such was the reality that father Manski had to live in. Creative musical work: organ, choral – religious and secular on piano and other instruments belongs to a highly sublime creative work with characteristic workbench presenting ample contrapunctuate harmonics with perfect melodics embedded in harmonic constructions based on mathematical logic, in which we find charm, passion, and wide world of musical beauty.
Twórczość muzyczna: organowa, chóralna – religijna i świecka, z udziałem fortepianu i innych instrumentów, należy do wysoce wysublimowanej twórczości o charakterystycznym warsztacie muzycznym, prezentującym bogatą harmonikę kontrapunktyczną z doskonałą melodyką osadzoną na konstrukcjach harmonicznych o podłożu matematycznej logiki, w której odnajdujemy urok, pasję i szeroki świat muzycznego piękna.

Opis:
In this work, some parameters during the partial acidulation by phosphoric acid of phosphate 53.75% BPL (bone phosphate of lime) having different particle sizes are determined. P2O5 recovery is obtained by performing a series of reactions using phosphoric acid diluted from 10 to 40 wt.% and with reaction times ranging from 10 to 50 minutes. The best conversion rates are obtained with the following reaction parameters: phosphates size: 88-177 μm, reaction time: 50 minutes and phosphoric acid concentration: 40 wt.%. In the second part, the water-soluble P2O5 of PAPRs (Partially Acidulated Phosphate Rocks) obtained with phosphoric acid 30% and 40 wt.% is measured. The results of experiments showed that the water-soluble P2O5 has reached 15.2% for PAPRs obtained by reacting phosphate 88 μm with phosphoric acid 40 wt%.

The study presents the problem of an appropriate and comprehensive shaping of the living environment of senior citizens in institutional care, i.e. creation of a most accessible built environment for them. The currently prevailing conditions in Polish care institutions for senior citizens are continuously improving, however they do not completely fulfil modern requirements and European standards expected from such institutions. In order for such a facility to provide an appropriate living environment for senior citizens and function efficiently, they cannot be based only on precisely defined guidelines and design principles. They have to be based on knowledge concerning senior citizens, their problems, needs and expectations; they also have to take into account the results of qualitative research based on the principles of universal design and ergonomics.

Opis:
Phosphoric acid sludge is one of the prominent problems in the phosphate industry. Its formation is co-occurred by considerable losses of P2O5 that affect the process performance. Management and valorization of this waste is a key issue. This work aimed to deal with this industrial concern by studying the influence of the flocculation on the sludge sedimentation and thus the P2O5 recovery rate. The flocculation tests were conducted in the presence of various types of anionic polymers. The effect of dosage, molecular weight, and type of flocculant were examined. The results indicated that all polymers showed settling performance improvement. And, the flocculant with the highest molecular weight (F1), showed the best settling performance with a pace of 3.3 cm/min and the lowest turbidity value of 40.4 NTU using a dosage of 5 ppm. Due to its high molecular weight, this polymer carries a polyelectrolyte bridging mechanism, which allows the absorbed polymer to move further away from the surface of the particle and then increases the particle radius, the number of collisions, and thus the particle size. However, for the P2O5 recovery rate, the sulfonic polymer (F5) was the best performer allowing recovery of 78.8% of the total mass of the sludge. F5 is weakly amphoteric. Polymers containing sulfonic acid groups are known to be inherently powerful than the carboxylic acid groups as they are stable due to their high energy barrier. According to the results, the flocculation increases the recovery of P2O5, which represents a profit of more than 30 kg of clarified phosphoric acid per 1 tone of sludge.

Opis:
Wind energy, being a fluctuating resource, requires a tight control management to ensure stability when integrated with the grid system. This has triggered interest towards developing advanced controllers. Hence this paper presents the study of a variable speed wind energy conversion system that uses a Double Fed Induction Generator (DFIG). Above rated wind speed, pitch control has been applied and below the rated speed torque control has been adopted. Generator torque control is able to reduce the effects of the pitch actuator limitations. Sliding mode control is applied for torque and pitch control in WECS and it has been implemented in MATLAB SIMULINK and FPGA to achieve control of active and reactive power exchange between the stator of the DFIG and the grid. Performance parameters like pitch angle, active, reactive power, turbine speed, and DC voltage has been compared by using SMC, Hill Climbing (HC) Algorithm and Perturb and Observe (P&O) Algorithm and performance for these three methods has been simulated and implemented in FPGA. Total Harmonic Distortion for all the performance parameters has been reported. Hardware implementation of developed algorithm was accomplished with the help of Xilinx system generator and Xilinx Tool Kit.

Opis:
When it comes to reducing emissions caused by the generation of electricity, among different renewable energy sources, the solar energy gains prominence, due to its geographical availability, simplicity of implementation, and absence of physical moving parts. However, the performance of photovoltaic systems is dependent on environmental conditions. Depending on temperature and solar irradiation, the photovoltaic (PV) system has an operating point where maximum power can be generated. The techniques that are implemented to find this operating point are the so-called maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms. Since weather conditions are variable in nature, the output voltage of the PV system needs to be regulated to remain equal to the reference. Most of the existing studies focus either on MPPT or on voltage regulation of the PV system. In this paper, the two-stage PV system is implemented so that both MPPT and voltage regulation are achieved simultaneously. Additionally, an improved version of the perturb and observe (P&O) algorithm based on artificial potential fields (APF), called APF-P&O, is presented. According to the results of the simulations carried out in MATLAB/Simulink software, the APF-P&O method is more efficient than the conventional method.
