The governing equation of large amplitude simple pendulum is a nonlinear equation which is very difficult to be solved exactly and analytically. However, the classical way for finding analytical solution is obviously still very much important. This is because an exact analytical solution serves as an accurate benchmark for numerical solution and provides a better insight into the significance of various system parameters affecting the phenomena than the numerical solution. Therefore, in this present work, exact analytical solutions for nonlinear differential equation of large amplitude simple pendulum is presented. Also, with the aid of the exact analytical solutions, parametric studies are carried out to study the effects of the model parameters on the dynamic behavior of the large-amplitude nonlinear oscillation system. The solutions can serve as benchmarks for the numerical solution or approximate analytical solution.

In this work, the efficiency of differential transformation method to the solutions of large amplitude nonlinear oscillatory systems is further established. Two cases of oscillation systems, nonlinear plane pendulum and pendulum in a rotating plane are considered. Without any linearization, discretization or series expansion of the sine and cosine of the angular displacement in the nonlinear models of the systems, the differential transformation method with Padé approximant is used to provide analytical solutions to the nonlinear problems. Also, the increased predictive power and the high level of accuracy of the differential transformation method over the previous methods are presented. The extreme accuracy and validity of the analytical solutions obtained by the differential transformation method are shown through comparison of the results of the solution with the corresponding numerical solutions obtained by fourth-fifth-order Runge-Kutta method. Also, with the aid of the analytical solutions, parametric studies were carried to study the impacts of the model parameters on the dynamic behavior of the large-amplitude nonlinear oscillation system. The method avoids any numerical complexity and it is very simple, suitable and useful as a mathematical tool for dealing the nonlinear problems.

This work presents the nonlinear analysis of forced harmonic oscillation system using differential transformation method-Padé approximant techniques. The upcoming hypersonic technologies pose a difficult task for air navigation systems. The article presents a designed model of elastic interaction of penetrating acoustic radiation with flat isotropic suspension elements of an inertial navigation sensor in the operational conditions of hypersonic flight. It has been shown that the acoustic transparency effect in the form of a spatial-frequency resonance becomes possible with simultaneous manifestation of the wave coincidence condition in the acoustic field and equality of the natural oscillation frequency of a finite-size plate and a forced oscillation frequency of an infinite plate. The effect can lead to additional measurement errors of the navigation system. Using the model, the worst and best case suspension oscillation frequencies can be determined, which will help during the design of a navigation system.

W artykule omówiono zagadnienia związane ze stabilnością sieci elektroenergetycznej, przeznaczenie i zasadę działania urządzenia DA-Box 2000 oraz wykorzystanie go do monitorowania stabilności sieci elektroenergetycznych. Doświadczenia niemieckie wskazują, że badanie stabilności sieci ma coraz większe znaczenie w praktyce z powodu gwałtownego wzrostu udziału nieliniowych źródeł i odbiorów energii w systemie elektroenergetycznym. Przyrząd DA-Box 2000, poprzez zaawanasowaną analizę napięć i częstotliwości, jest w stanie wykryć groźbę utraty stabilności przez system elektroenergetyczny spowodowany na przykład lawiną napięcia lub częstotliwości. Według danych producenta urządzenia te pracują z powodzeniem w kilkunastu krajach na całym świecie.
The power system is a complex system in which, except the usual linear elements, there are more and more nonlinear and restless power generating and loading devices. This causes that even in the normal working conditions, besides the basic harmonic (50 Hz) of current and voltage there are more and more higher harmonics and subharmonic. Higher harmonic content generally refers to the quality of energy, while subharmonic, especially low frequency oscillations of several Hz or even less than 1 Hz, can be used for power system stability testing. Unfortunately, so far they are basically not used either in the power system protection or in the power system control. This paper presents issues related to the stability of the power grid, the purpose and principle of operation of the DABox 2000 and its use to monitor the stability of the power grid. German experience indicates that the study of network stability is becoming increasingly important in practice due to the rapid increase in the share of nonlinear sources and energy load in the power system. The DA-Box 2000 device, using its advanced voltage and frequency analysis, is able to detect the threat of power system failure due to, for example, a collapse of voltage or frequency. According to the manufacturer's data, these devices work successfully in over a dozen countries around the world.

The research goal was to develop an improved water purification technology for public reservoirs by adding the vibrocavitation purification before a reagent method with sodium hypochlorite, produced via electrolysis of salt. The main tasks of the research include the determination of vibrocavitation treatment efficiency and the development of a new low-frequency vibration resonance cavitation process for water purification, as well as equipment for this process. The vibroresonance method supporting the intensity of spatial displacements of cavitation exciters was developed on the basis of the theory of cavitation fields in liquids. While using this method, it was possible to establish the boundary conditions for stable support of the cavitation field created by low-frequency vibrations. The developed method is based on the formation of high intensive cavitation fields in liquids by vibratory decks. The advanced technological scheme of water purification for pools and public use reservoirs was proposed, which includes the addition of resonance vibrocavitators to a closed circulation cycle of water purification with the reagent method.

System identification is an approach for parameter detection and mathematical model determination using response signals of a dynamic system. Two degrees of freedom (2DOF) pendulum controlled by a QUBE-servo motor is a great experiment device to work with; though it is not easy to control this system due to its complex structure and multi-dimensional outputs. Hence, system identification is required for this system to analyze and evaluate its dynamic behaviors. This paper presents a methodology for identifying a 2DOF pendulum and its dynamic behaviors including noise from an encoder cable. Firstly, all parameters from both mechanical and electrical sides of the QUBE-servo motor are analyzed. Secondly, a mathematical model and identified parameters for the 2DOF pendulum are illustrated. Finally, disturbances from encoder cable of the QUBE-servo motor which introduce an unwanted oscillation or self-vibration in this system are introduced. The effect of itself on output response signals of the 2DOF QUBE-pendulum is also discussed. All identified parameters are checked and verified by a comparison between a theoretical simulation and experimental results. It is found that the disturbance from encoder cable of the 2DOF QUBE-pendulum is not negligible and should be carefully considered as a certain factor affecting response of system.

The model for the free nonlinear oscillation of the slider-crank mechanism is very complicated and difficult to solve accurately using most of the existing approximate analytical schemes. However, the continuous piecewise linearization method (CPLM), which is a recently proposed semi-analytical algorithm, is capable of producing simple and accurate periodic solutions for conservative systems irrespective of the complexity of the nonlinear restoring force. Hence, this study applied the CPLM to solve and analyze the complex nonlinear oscillations arising in the slider-crank mechanism. The CPLM results were verified using numerical solutions and it was found that the CPLM solution was accurate to less than 1.0% for angular amplitudes up to 165°. Analysis of the frequency-amplitude response revealed the existence of asymptotic behaviour as the ratio of the crank radius to the connecting rod length approaches zero or unity. Hence, oscillation models for the observed asymptotic responses were derived and found to be significantly simpler compared to the original oscillation model. Finally, analysis of the large-amplitude oscillations of the slider-crank mechanism revealed the presence of strong anharmonic response.

The problem of small-signal stability considering load uncertainty in power system is investigated. Firstly, this paper shows attempts to create a nonlinear optimization model for solving the upper and lower limits of the oscillation mode’s damping ratio under an interval load. Then, the effective successive linear programming (SLP) method is proposed to solve this problem. By using this method, the interval damping ratio and corresponding load states at its interval limits are obtained. Calculation results can be used to evaluate the influence of load variation on a certain mode and give useful information for improvement. Finally, the proposed method is validated on two test systems.

Opis:
A low-dimensional physical model of small-amplitude oscillations of the vocal folds is proposed here. The model is a simplified version of the body-cover one in which mucosal surface wave propagation has been approximated by the seesaw-like oscillation of the vocal fold about its fulcrum point whose position is adjustable in both the horizontal and vertical directions. This approach works for 180 degree phase difference between the glottal entry and exit displacements. The fulcrum point position has a significant role in determining the shape of the glottal flow. The vertical position of the fulcrum point determines the amplitude of the glottal exit displacement, while its horizontal position governs the shape and amplitude of the glottal flow. An increment in its horizontal position leads to an increase in the amplitude of the glottal flow and the time period of the opening and closing phases, as well as a decrease in the time period of the closed phase. The proposed model is validated by comparing its results with the low-dimensional mucosal surface wave propagation model.

Reducing the dynamic load of any mechanical system can be achieved when the torsional vibration magnitude is optimized by applying a pneumatic tuner of torsional oscillation. Changing the torsional stiffness of a pneumatic tuner can be accomplished by changing the pressure of the gaseous medium, out of operation or during the operation of a mechanical system. This results in two suggested methods of tuning: (i) tuning of torsional oscillating mechanical systems that are out of operation, which fulfils the conditions for mechanical system tuning; (2) tuning mechanical systems during an operation in a steady state, thus ensuring the conditions of so-called continuous tuning of the given systems. The aim of this paper is to present the possibility of controlling torsional oscillation of a mechanical system that is out of operation by applying a tangential pneumatic tuner of torsional oscillation.

Individual-based simulations of a simple prey-predator system of Lotka-Volterra type were carried out on a tessellation of identical squares with discrete time steps. The particles representing individuals moved freely along (roughly) straight lines with constant (on the average) velocity, and changed their movement during a collision with another particle. Individuals were of two types: preys (with free exponential population growth) and predators (with exponential population decrease in the absence of a prey, they attack with probability one and are characterized by zero handling and gestationtimes). Therefore the system might be also interpreted as a chemical reactionin a gas. For this simple system, a spontaneous generation of complex spatio-temporal pattern was observed with wavy spatial patterns and tendency for preys to form clusters surrounded by predators if the population density was high. The oscillations of the system were investigated at different spatial scales, and the phase lag between the oscillations in different local observation windows was demonstrated. The parameters of the classical Lotka-Volterra equations were estimated and the impact of the migration and the oscillation phase drift on the parameter values was discussed.

Opis:
Mechanical systems with combustion engines, compressors, pumps and fans, can be characterized as torsionally oscillating mechanical system (TOMS). It is therefore necessary to control their dangerous torsional vibrations. It was confirmed that dangerous torsional vibration can be reduced to acceptable level by an appropriate adjustment, respectively by tuning the TOMS. According to several authors, the most appropriate way of system tuning is application of suitable flexible element, which is flexible shaft coupling. It turned out that one of the types of shaft couplings, which are particularly suited to meeting this objective are pneumatic flexible shaft couplings, to act as so-called pneumatic tuners of torsional oscillations. The issue of research and development of pneumatic tuners of torsional oscillations, among other things is, long-term in the focus of the author. The existence of tuners creates the opportunity to develop new ways of tuning torsionally oscillating mechanical systems. The aim of article will highlight the author's patent activity in the development of pneumatic tuners of torsional oscillations and their applications in torsionally oscillating mechanical systems.
Układy mechaniczne z silnikami spalinowymi, sprężarkami, pompami i wentylatorami można określić jako układy mechaniczne drgające skrętnie (UMDS). Z tego powodu konieczne jest opanowanie ich niebezpiecznego drgania skrętnego. Zostało potwierdzone, że niebezpieczne drganie skrętne można zmniejszyć do dopuszczalnego stopnia przez odpowiednią zmianę, czyli dostrojenie UMDS. Według wielu autorów najlepszym sposobem dostrojenia układu jest zastosowanie odpowiedniego elementu elastycznego, za który uważane jest sprzęgło elastyczne łączące wały. Okazało się, że jednym z typów sprzęgieł łączących wały, które są szczególnie wskazane do osiągnięcia tego celu, są pneumatyczne sprzęgła elastyczne łączące wały, które pełnią funkcję tzw. tłumików drgań skrętnych. Problematyka rozwoju i badań pneumatycznych tłumików drgań skrętnych, oprócz innych zagadnień, od wielu lat znajduje się w centrum zainteresowań autora. Istnienie tłumików stwarza możliwość stosowania nowych sposobów strojenia układów mechanicznych drgających skrętnie. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie działalności patentowej autora w dziedzinie konstruowania pneumatycznych tłumików drgań skrętnych oraz ich zastosowania w układach mechanicznych drgających skrętnie.
