The objective of this paper is to call attention to the negative effects of a strong organizational culture, which is at the same time synonymous with a strong organizational identity. Such negative aspects include low susceptibility to innovation, aggressive attitudes with respect to the environment that impede cooperation, and an uncritical acceptance of stereotypes. Organizations with a strong culture have little chance of success on a global market.

Culture includes organization values, visions, norms, working language, systems, symbols, beliefs, and habits. It is also the pattern of such collective behaviour and assumptions that are taught to new organizational members as a way of perceiving, and even thinking and feeling. Organizational culture affects the way people and groups interact with each other, with clients, and with stakeholders. Workplace diversity is an issue which is focused on differences and similarities that people bring to an organization. It is usually defined broadly to include dimensions beyond those specified legally in equal opportunity and affirmative action for non-discrimination status. Diversity is often inter-preted to include dimensions which influence the identities and perspec-tives that people bring, such as a profession, education, parental status and geographic location. People from different cultures in the world find themselves interacting and working with individuals and groups from other cultures, operating and communicating according to differing sets of cultural norms, values, and communication styles. Consequently, researchers and global leadership practitioners stress a heightened need for understanding other cultures and their people, finding possible issues and what factors show potential to impede effective communication within an organization characterized by cultural diversity.

A lively and changing organizational culture can become the reason for the flourishing of an organization or be the driving force of its biggest difficulties. Therefore, as form of representation of an organization, organizational culture has to be formed intentionally as all too often it is common to encounter a dysfunctional culture in many areas. This publication attempts to look at the essence of organizational culture and the dysfunctions in organizations that result from the culture. The analyses carried out in this article are a result of the review of foreign and home literature, providing the basis for further discussions on the subject.

Opis:
The purpose of this article is to present the determinants of organizational culture and its sources. It was proven that the factors creating culture that are present in the general environment are directly related to national culture and only to a small extent are controlled by managers. Further it was noticed that the influence of the founders, managers and employees on organizational culture, with their source in the target environment of the organization, increases the possibility of shaping the value of organizational culture intentionally by the managing staff. It was pointed out that the managers’ knowledge of the factors determining organizational culture is essential to shape it consciously.
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie determinant kultury organizacyjnej z uwzględnieniem jej źródeł. Wykazano, że czynniki kulturotwórcze leżące w otoczeniu ogólnym organizacji pozostają w bezpośrednim związku z kulturą narodową i w niewielkim stopniu pozostają pod kontrolą kierownictwa. Zauważono, że kulturotwórczy wpływ założycieli, kierownictwa i pracowników, mających swoje źródło w otoczeniu celowym organizacji, zwiększa możliwości intencjonalnego kształtowania wartości kultury organizacyjnej przez kadrę kierowniczą. Zwrócono uwagę, że wiedza kierowników o czynnikach warunkujących kulturę organizacyjną jest kluczowa w kontekście jej świadomego kształtowania.

The starting point of this paper is characteristic of the essence of organizational pathologiesand dysfunctions. This discussion is a contribution of deliberation on the development of an optimalorganizational culture - permitting the acquisition and maintenance of key employees. The present publicationpresents the results of empirical research regarding dysfunction and the pathology of the organizationalculture of enterprises in Poland. 195 respondents were examined whose opinions were interpretedin the context of the challenges of creating a model, in terms of the knowledge economy, types of organizationalculture - a culture based on knowledge, a culture of trust and a culture of cooperation.

This paper formulates the thesis that organizational culture, being a particular form of organizational knowledge, has a dual and autopoietic nature. This understanding of organizational culture served as the basis for formulating conclusions and recommendations for the transformation process of organizational culture in the Polish businesses. The developed conclusions are supported by research results on changes of organizational culture in traditional industry companies in Poland, as well as by studies on changes in interpersonal trust in the process of clustering.

Healthcare organizations play an important role in every society. Those organizations are run connecting two conflicted fields: economics and ethics, facing a problem of what is more important: economic accounts or human's life. This perspective makes organizational culture in healthcare institutions seem much more important. Ethical codex, values system, norms of behavior and, of course, management methods - all those factors shape doctor-patient relationships and, as a result, influence human health and life. Thus, creating the organizational culture maximizing the medical staff effectiveness of lifesaving, is of interest to every society. In this paper, the author tried to answer two essential questions - what kind of organizational culture would be the most adequate for healthcare organizations and how to diagnose the organizational culture - measure something immeasurable.

This paper is focused on an analysis of the cognitive and pragmatic aspects of organizational culture in management. Its conclusion attempts to sketch perspectives for the resolutions of problems. Research must accept methodological pluralism encumbered by manifold paradigms and definitions of organizational culture. Openness to concepts and methods derived from other scientific disciplines is also important. The field of organizational culture is no longer restricted to the liberal arts and social studies - sociology, cultural anthropology, culture studies, and linguistics - but now also includes exact sciences - cognitive sciences, evolutionary biology, and information technologies. Explanations of cultural processes will probably be a part of the scientific revolution coupling together the questions of social and natural sciences.

The kaleidoscope category adopted in relation to school culture is meant to emphasise the diversity in the identificationof this scientificcategory. I refer to analyses of the definitionsof the term school culture as well as to research perspectives and attempts to specify the notion. As a result, some research areas identifying school culture have been recognised and theoretical and empirical perspectives of the understanding the specificityof school culture have been scrutinised from two separate perspectives. One of them is vertical and includes the history of educational research, in which school culture emerged at the interface of other scientificdisciplines. The other one, horizontal, focuses on the contemporary meaning of research and analyses of school culture in the area of educational studies.

Adam Noga, in his review of the theory of entrepreneurship, distinguishes 24 different types of goals which make entrepreneurs establish, run and develop their enterprises. He emphasizes that the maximization of profits, sales volume, satisfactory profits, flow and value were the goals enterprises strived for until the 1970’s. However, entrepreneurship, according to Noga, consists of discovering new targets and objectives which accompany the process of enterprise creation and development, including the growth in the usefulness of human, intellectual and social assets. In order to meet such expectations, appropriate social and or-ganizational conditions need to be ensured. One of these essential conditions is a suitable organizational culture, to a large extent depending on the owners and top rank managers, which con-firms that, today, growth is determined by social capital, human capital, man-agement and organizational culture. This subject is important both from the scientific and practical point of view. It shows that when it comes to management, economy lacks knowledge concerning the cultural context, as well as knowledge related to the assessment of social welfare, in which too little attention is paid to the qualitative elements of social and economic development. The aim of this paper is to answer the ques-tion whether an organizational culture which facilitates undertaking non-business activities exists. In order to answer this question, the notions of non-business activities and organizational culture have been defined. Characteristic features of an organizational culture have been presented and the culture which theoretically facilitates undertaking non-business activities has been indicated. In the empirical part, the theoretical assumptions have been verified and an organizational culture which attempts to achieve not only business goals has been identified.

Due to globalization, greater mobility of employees and unceasing competition, organizations face the challenge of managing diversity within their workforce. Main flow of research analyzes the influence of national culture on work efficiency (and ethnic discrimination), but the aim of the paper is to show the challenge of making two distinct professional occupations, represented by managers and designers, work together effectively and creatively. It seems that professional paths of management and design specialists intersect in more aspects than just product design and yet both groups of professionals develop different sets of skills and competencies which makes them follow certain behavioral patterns and feel more comfortable in different settings. The paper considers literature review and sufficient research data.

As available research shows, the preparation of social workers for cooperation with local authorities and social policy entities on the micro-level is certainly minute. The ascertained image of social services has prompted a search for inter-organizational factors which may shape the quality of support provided and contribute to the creation of a support culture within local communities. The objective of the analysis – performed in a piecemeal manner – was to describe the relation between the types of organizational culture in social welfare institutions and the ways social workers carried out their tasks.
