    Opis:
    With the quick transition to online teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is vital to take the recent development in language teaching methodology into consideration, especially the pedagogical utility of new models of English for Academic purposes (EAP). Accordingly, the main objective of the present study was to investigate the efficacy of the adjunct model in improving the overall reading comprehension skills of Iranian architecture students in online EAP courses. To this end, from the population of students studying architecture at the Isfahan University of Art, three intact classes, each with 35 sophomore students were selected. While the first class was taught by a language teacher (the Language-driven Group) and the second class received instruction from a content teacher (the Content-driven Group), the third class was taught by applying the adjunct model involving both content and language teachers. At the end of the semester, a reading comprehension test was administrated to all students. The analysis of the data through running a one-way ANOVA and post hoc analysis revealed that the students in the adjunct class outperformed their peers in the other two classes on the reading comprehension test.

    Grupa robocza ds. etyki w chemii Europejskiego Towarzystwa Chemicznego (EuChemS) przy współpracy z sekcją dydaktyki chemii EuChemS opracowały kurs online poświęcony metodologicznym, etycznym i społecznym wymiarom chemii. Sfilmowane wykłady prof. Jana Mehlicha wzbogacone zostały o diagnozę wiedzy uprzedniej i przekonań studentów, analizy przypadków, zadania, wiki, warsztaty, quizy, autorefleksję uczestników, dyskusje kontrowersyjnych kwestii na forach. Złożony z 16 modułów w języku angielskim, kurs skierowany jest do studentów studiów magisterskich i doktorskich. Oparty na platformie Moodle kurs przeszedł swój pilotaż w roku akademickim 2018/19 w postaci nauczania zdalnego, mieszanego oraz nauczania wyłącznie wspomaganego komputerowo. Nauczyciele i studenci uznali tematykę kursu za ciekawą i przydatną, a kurs za wymagający dużego nakładu czasu i wysiłku. Nie tylko studenci rozwinęli swoje kompetencje, nauczyciele także.
    The Working Party on Ethics in Chemistry of the European Chemical Society (EuChemS) in collaboration with the EuChemS Division of Chemical Education has developed an online course devoted to the methodological, ethical and social dimensions of chemistry. Lectures by Prof. Jan Mehlich were enriched with the diagnosis of prior knowledge and beliefs/attitudes of students, case analysis, tasks, wiki, workshops, quizzes, self–reflections, discussions on controversial issues on forums. Composed of 16 modules in English, the course is aimed at graduate and PhD students of chemistry and related study programmes. Based on the EuChemS Moodle platform, the course passed its piloting in the academic year 2018/19 in the form of e–learning, blended learning as well as face to face meetings in the lecture theater. Teachers and students found the subject matter of the course interesting and useful, and the course very extensive in the term of a time and effort. Not only students have developed their competences, academic teachers also. In the year 2019/20 the course will be available online to any European university. Students will be also able to participate in the course individually on the EuChemS platform.

    Współczesne metody nauczania na odległość zmieniają się dynamicznie. Powstają światowe konsorcja podejmujące starania zapewnienia dostępu do edukacji na najwyższym poziomie z wykorzystaniem Internetu. Jedną z takich prób jest platforma edX. Jej rozwój zapoczątkowały niemal 2 lata temu MIT i Harvard. Obecnie zespół liczy już 30 uczelni z całego świata. Renoma ośrodków naukowych biorących udział w projekcie przyciągnęła już ponad 2 miliony kursantów z całego świata. Ogromnymi zaletami platformy są takie aspekty jak: kompleksowe podejście do kształcenia online, obejmujące zarówno wykłady jak i ćwiczenia, czy wirtualne laboratoria. Platforma jest również polem doświadczalnym dla nowatorskich metod weryfikacji wiedzy oraz jej potwierdzania za pomocą wciąż rozbudowywanego systemu certyfikatów. Artykuł podsumowuje opinia dot. możliwości portalu z punktu widzenia studenta i wykładowcy PG.
    Modern e-learning methods develop dynamically. Worldwide consortiums, which unite institutions trying to make an effort to assure the education at highest level, with usage of the Internet, are created. The edX platform is a new approach to this task. It was founded almost two years ago by MIT and Harvard. At the present, participating group involves 30 top universities from all over the world. Reputation of those research centers appealed over 2 million students already. The most significant advantage of the edX platform is complex approach to the online training. It includes both valuable and encouraging video lectures and virtual laboratories where students can challenge new concerns on their own. The edX is also a testing field for innovative methods of knowledge and skills verification. There is also a constantly expanding certification system which features a proctored exams or verified ID diplomas. Moreover, the edX consortium share the achievement on open-source basis. Possibilities offered by the platform attract many educational institutions over the world such as French or Chinese ministries of education. The paper is summarized with student’s and lecturer’s point of view onto the platform’s opportunities.

    The development of innovations and related changes in the labor market, as well as Ukraine’s aspiration toward Euro integration, have led to the need for transformation of teaching media and methods in higher education. The consequence of this is a massive transition to e-learning, both in the native language and in English, which, however, creates psychological and pedagogical problems. These are difficulties for students with self-organization and self-training, establishing interpersonal contacts, maintaining the motivation to learn, and meeting a certain level of foreign language proficiency.The problems for teachers include the need to develop new teaching methods and technologies, changing the role of the teacher and the methods of interaction between participants in the educational process. The article presents the experience of mitigating these problems in the online course, “Fundamentals of Vehicle Certification” in Ukrainian and English by using active learning methods, innovative methods of motivation, and organization of reflection and communication, presenting some sections both in the native and foreign language. The introduction of this course into the educational process in the extramural form of education showed that the methods proposed by the authors reduced these problems, while the number of A and B grades increased. In addition, it was concluded that the effective use of online courses requires their preliminary approbation and further improvement, taking into account the characteristics of the discipline, experience and goals of the students.

    Studium przypadku grywalizacji opartej na wykorzystaniu gry edukacyjnej dotyczy projektu Akademia PARP – największego polskiego projektu e-learning typu MOOC, zwiększającego adaptacyjność kadr przedsiębiorstw. Projekt, realizowany na zlecenie PARP od 2006 r. do końca 2014 r., pozyskał 200 tys. uczestników, oferując 1000 godzin sitting time wielomodułowych szkoleń (e-learning, m-learning, b-learning) o tematyce biznesowej. W projekcie znalazły się nowe rozwiązania uczące np. społeczności szkoleniowe czy web-based rapid learning. W latach 2009–2011 prawie 1000 osób skorzystało z symulacyjnej gry strategicznej on-line ,,Gwiezdne szkolenia” z różnymi formami współdziałania i rywalizacji pomiędzy zespołami uczestników. Na tym przykładzie przedstawiono analizę wykorzystania grywalizacji w e-learningu do szkolenia, rekrutacji i motywowania uczestników.
    This gamification case study is based on the use of an educational game and applies to a PARP Academy project, the greatest Polish MOOC–type e–learning project for improving the adaptiveness of company staff. The project was commissioned by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP) and spanned the years 2006–2014. It attracted 200,000 participants and offered 1,000 hours of multi–module sitting time training (e–learning, m–learning, and b–learning) covering business topics. The project included new teaching solutions such as training communities and web–based rapid learning. Almost 1,000 people benefited from the Space Training online strategic simulation game with its various forms of cooperation and competition among teams of participants over the years 2009–2011. This example is the basis of an analysis of the application of gamification in e–learning for training, recruiting, and motivating participants.

    Podstawowym założeniem edukacji XXI wieku powinno być kształtowanie u dzieci i młodzieży kompetencji przyszłości. Jednym ze sposobów wspierania młodego człowieka w ich rozwijaniu jest model edukacji oparty na STEM.Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie dwóch inicjatyw: projektu Kitchen Lab for Kids oraz kursu online Edukacja STEAM w przedszkolu, kierowanych głównie do studentów Akademii Ignatianum w Krakowie. Ich prezentacja następuje z perspektywy działalności studenta, jego zaangażowania w Stemowe aktywności, pokazując nie tylko proces nabywania wiedzy, ale przede wszystkim praktycznych umiejętności w tym modelu edukacji. Uczestnicząc w wybranych etapach projektu oraz realizując kurs online studenci mieli możliwość zapoznać się z ideą edukacji STE(A)M, praktycznie przetestować jej propozycje (scenariusze / zasoby) proponując ich modyfikacje, a także zaprezentować własne pomysły i rozwiązania. Taki sposób pracy (skupienie się na aspektach praktycznych) spowodował bardzo pozytywny odbiór i wysokie zaangażowanie studentów w proponowane aktywności. Doceniali oni zarówno atrakcyjność materiałów (zasobów) proponowanych przez nauczycieli Akademii Ignatianum odpowiedzialnych za realizację projektu i kursu, jak i sposób przekazu wiedzy.
    The basic educational assumption of the 21st century should be shaping the competences of the future in children and youth. One of the ways to support a young person in developing them is the model of education based on STEM. The objective of the article is to present two initiatives: the Kitchen Lab for Kids project, and the online course entitled STEAM Education in Preschool, mainly addressed to the students of the Jesuit University Ignatianum in Krakow. They are presented from the point of view of a student and his/her involvement in Stem activities, showing the process of gaining not only knowledge, but, first of all, practical skills in this model of education. While participating in selected stages of the project and in the online course, the students were able to learn about the idea of STE(A)M education, test its suggestions (lesson plans/resources) and suggest modifications, as well as present their own ideas and solutions. Such way of working (focusing on practical aspects) was truly appreciated by the students who were deeply involved in the suggested activities. They appreciated both the attractiveness of the materials (resources) provided by the teachers of the Jesuit University Ignatianum and the way of transferring knowledge.

The authors discuss the concept of Massively Open Online Classes in the context of Gartner Hype Cycle and explore MOOC ethical implications. The aim of this short article is, according to the authors, not to support or oppose the deployment of MOOCs but to clarify certain ethical presuppositions.

    Czas pandemii Covid19 zmusił nas do zintensyfikowania wysiłków związanych z kształceniem online.
    A few years ago, none of us imagined that certain subjects could be taught online. Meanwhile, for the last three semesters, each of us had to face it, struggling with the stress of the mysterious listener and the sight of the wall in front of our eyes. We have found that preparing online classes is more demanding. However, out of love for Mathematics during the pandemic, we took our time and showed great commitment. In the article it is presented the distance education methods implemented by us along with examples together with the tools we used for this. The discussed methods of teaching were selected individually for the groups. The choice of the method depended on the year of study, i.e. whether we were teaching first-year or higher-year students, as well as the language in which the students study. From our point of view, it might be said that during the pandemic, the quality of teaching has increased due to the number and variety of methods that were used to liven up the atmosphere, maintain motivation and pace, as well as create interactions between students who are separated from each other and us. However, the question remains "has the quality of learning also increased?". We will get the answer soon, when we go back to universities.
