Opis:: The article presents content analysis applied in analyzing the Old Believers’ Sinodik from the monastery in Wojnowo. As a result of the research certain tendencies of text dynamics were defined, i.e. qualitative and quantitative changes of delineated information units in consecutive parts of the text (articles). Placing the articles on the time line will facilitate discovering how this religious text evolved.

Opis:: The observed distinctive features of the Old Believers’ Sinodik from Wojnowo enable one to see it as part of religious discourse, i.e. the whole body of the spoken and written texts constituting this type of communication. On the basis of the text of Sinodik and its extralinguistic factors (concept, objective, strategy, participants of communication, precedented texts, precedented phenomena) a distinct type of religious discourse was educed – the discourse of ‘поминовение’. Including the extralinguistic features of the text in its analysis will allow of broadened and more precise interpretation of the analyzed text.

Opis:: The function of confessional differentiation reveals itself in juxtaposing one’s own religion with other religions as well as in unity with members of one’s own belief. The way this function took shape among Old Believers is presented on the example of Sinodik from Wojnowo. Juxtaposing is realized as an opposition against other non-Orthodox believers and supporters of Patriarch Nikon’s reforms. The feeling of unity with members of one’s own community is formed by memorizing facts (names, places and dates) of Old Believers’ martyrology, developing a sense of duty towards ancestors and paying the debt through prayers, love and respect towards them.
