Opis:
For years the Ohio State university has been engaged in international academic and research activities. The Institute of Aviation decided to join the ohio State University in this endeavor. The Institute of aviation strongly believes that in order to provide world class research and laboratory services requires world class competitiveness, which is composed of employee knowledge, accredited laboratories, certified processes, modern organization of the workplace. The Ohio State University, and in particular the Propulsion and Power Center, for years, has educated young engineers for the United States Aerospace Industries, and graduates immediately find employment with industry leaders like General Electric, Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, the Boeing Company, and others. The Institute of Aviation, in Warsaw, became also an important Ge business partner with the creation in 2000 of the Engineering Design Center. This position achieved by the Institute of Aviation brought OSU and the Institute to closer cooperation, which started with the jointly organized Polish American Conference on Science and Technology held in 2012 in olumbus, ohio and in 2013 in Washington, d.c. The Institute of Aviation has a long tradition in organizing Polish-American Conferences on Science and Technology. The first conference was held in Washington, d.c. in March 2002, organized together with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (cSIS), a famous Washington based think tank.

Opis:
The well−known association of platyceratid snails and crinoids typically involves a single snail positioned on the tegmen of the crinoid host; this has led to the inference of coprophagy. Two specimens of the camerate crinoid Arthroacantha from the Middle Devonian Silica Formation of Ohio, USA, exhibit numerous snails on their tegmens. On one of these, 6 platyceratid juveniles of approximately equal size are found on the tegmen. On the second crinoid, the largest of 7 infesting platyceratids occupies the typical position over the anal vent while others are either superposed (tiered) upon it or are positioned elsewhere on the tegmen. These specimens illustrate that platyceratids (1) settled on crinoids as spat, (2) were not strictly coprophagous during life yet (3) benefited from a position over the anal vent.

Opis:
The Cleveland Shale fauna represents a unique view of the time after a major Devonian extinction event (Frasnian–Famenian) with the recovery of arthrodires (Placodermi) best represented by this most specious North American fauna. This time was followed by an additional event (Hangenberg Biocrisis) leading to the extinction of arthrodires (and all other placoderms). An understanding of the diversity and interrelationships of North American arthrodires can aid our understanding of this critical time in vertebrate evolution. A new aspinothoracid arthrodire Hlavinichthys jacksoni gen. et sp. nov. is described from the Late Devonian of northern Ohio, U.S.A., which adds to our knowledge of this group. It provides a point of comparison to other members of the fauna whose interrelationships are poorly known. A phylogenetic analysis supports an assignment of Hlavinichthys jacksoni gen. et sp. nov. among the aspinothoracid arthrodires. This work has drawn attention to the continued need for descriptive and phylogenetic analyses of this unique fauna. Decades old species descriptions need revision along with preparation and description of new taxa. The work on Hlavinichthys jacksoni gen. et sp. nov. here is one step in that process.
