Herein, the photocatalytic degradation of the Congo Red (CR) and Crystal Violet (CV) dyes in an aqueous solution were discussed in the presence of an indium(III) oxide (In2O3) as optical catalyst efficiency. The caproate bidentate indium(III) precursor complex has been synthesized and well interpreted by elemental analysis, molar conductivity, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), UV-Vis, and thermogravimetric (TGA) with its differential thermogravimetric (DTG) studies. The microanalytical and spectroscopic assignments suggested that the associated of mononuclear complex with 1:3 molar ratio (M3+:ligand). Octahedral structure is speculated for this parent complex of the caproate anion, CH3(CH2)4COO ligand. The In2O3  NPs with nanoscale range within 10–20 nm was synthesized by a simple, low cost and eco-friendly method using indium(III) caproate complex. Indium oxide nanoparticles were formed after calcination of precursor in static air at 600°C for 3 hrs. The structural, grain size, morphological and decolorization efficiency of the synthesized NPs were characterized using the FT-IR, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analyses. It was worthy mentioned that the prepared In2O3  NPs showed a good photodegradation properties against CR and CV organic dyes during 90 min.

We present the numerical study of unsteady hydromagnetic (MHD) flow and heat trans- fer characteristics of a viscous incompressible electrically conducting water-based nanofluid (containing Al₂O₃ nanoparticles) between two orthogonally moving porous coaxial disks with suction. Different from the classical shooting methodology, we employ a combination of a direct and an iterative method (SOR with optimal relaxation parameter) for solving the sparse systems of linear algebraic equations arising from the FD discretization of the linearized self similar nonlinear ODEs. Effects of the governing parameters on the flow and heat transfer are discussed and presented through tables and graphs. The findings of the present investigation may be beneficial for electronic industry in maintaining the electronic components under effective and safe operational conditions.

Opis:
Purpose: This research aimed to prepare tetragonal zirconia polycrystals powder by coprecipitation method and study effects of addition of different amounts of nano Al2O3 (1, 2 and 4) wt.% on its microstructure and mechanical properties of (5Y-TZP) composite. Design/methodology/approach: The powder was uniaxial pressed at a pressure of 150 MPa and held for 60 s, and sintered at the 1500°C, held for two hours and then cooling down at 5°C/min to room temperature. Microhardness and fracture toughness tests were utilized to evaluate the mechanical properties of yttria tetragonal zirconia polycrystal composite. The microstructure has been observed using field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM). Findings: The results showed an addition of nano Al2O3 has a great influence on hardness and microstructure, the increase in Vicker's microhardness of composite samples with the increase in the nano Al2O3 wt.% and microstructure were characterized with homogeneous zirconia distribution, grain growth destruction with the increasing percentage of nano Al2O3. The most important influence is the enhancing of the densification process as the porosity decreased. The highest hardness and maximum fracture toughness were recorded at 4 wt.% nano Al2O3. Research limitations/implications: Ceramic matrix composites are developed to overcome the brittleness of ZrO2 and the low toughness of alumina by formation, a large difference of elastic behavior between matrix and particles(dispersion phase )which disturbs the stress field as a dislocation comes near a particle. Practical implications: Zirconia has mechanical properties similar to those of stainless steel. Yttria-stabilized tetragonal Zirconia (Y-TZP) is growing used in dentistry due to its good mechanical properties such as hardness and fracture toughness. Thus, controlling of microstructure by adding nanoalumina plays an important role in enhancing these properties. Originality/value: Study the adding bitty percentage from nano alumina on microstructure and mechanical properties of (5Y-TZP) ceramic.

Background. Nanoparticles have been applied worldwide, posing substantial effects on the environment and its living organisms. Plants as sessile organisms are always exposed to considerable fluctuations of nanoparticles concentrations. Here, the effects of different concentrations of bulk and nanosized $Al_2O_3$ on seed germination and seedling growth of Cynara scolymus were investigated in a randomized completely design with four replications. Material and methods. The experimental treatments included four concentrations of bulk $Al_2O_3$ (10, 50, 100 and 500 ppm), four concentrations of nanosized $Al_2O_3$ (10, 50, 100 and 500 ppm), and control without any $Al_2O_3$. Results. The results indicated that among the Cynara scolymus germination indices, only mean germination time and weighted germination index was not affected by treatments. In addition, plumule length, radicle length, seedling fresh and dry weight were affected by bulk and nanosized $Al_2O_3$concentrations, significantly. Radicle length at 50 ppm concentration of nanosized $Al_2O_3$ was higher than those of the untreated control and bulk $Al_2O_3$Al 2O3 at 10, 100 and 500 ppm concentrations. It is concluded that treatment with bulk $Al_2O_3$ treatments have more inhibitory effects on germination indices of Cynara scolymus in comparison to nanosized $Al_2O_3$. Conclusion. Overall, we found through our study that bulk and nano sized $Al_2O_3$ in high concentrations have a negative impact on the seed germination and seedling growth of Cynara scolymus. We saw an overall significant reduction in plumule length, seedling dry biomass, and vigor index of Cynara scolymus seedlings after being exposed to different concentrations of bulk and nano sized $Al_2O_3$, but no significant change in the mean germination time, weighted germination index and radicle length of the seedlings. The two common possibilities are either the bulk and nano sized $Al_2O_3$ will adhere to the roots impeding any uptake of water and nutrients, or that the nanoparticles are up taken and translocated within the plant therefore causing toxicity internally.
Nanocząstki są stosowane na całym świecie, wywierając znaczny wpływ na środowisko i żywe organizmy. Rośliny jako organizmy ukorzenione są zawsze narażone na znaczne wahania stężeń nanocząstek. Zbadano wpływ różnych stężeń $Al_2O_3$ w masie i nanocząsteczkach na kiełkowanie nasion i wzrost siewek Cynara scolymus w całkowicie losowym projekcie z czterema powtórzeniami. Zabiegi doświadczalne obejmowały cztery stężenia $Al_2O_3$ w masie (10, 50, 100 i 500 ppm), cztery stężenia $Al_2O_3$ w postaci nanocząstek (10, 50, 100 i 500 ppm) oraz kontrolę (bez $Al_2O_3$). Wyniki wskazują, że spośród wskaźników kiełkowania Cynara scolymus zabiegi nie miały wpływu na średni czas kiełkowania i ważony wskaźnik kiełkowania. Na długość pędu embrionalnego, długość korzonków, świeżą i suchą masę siewek istotnie wpływały stężenia $Al_2O_3$ w masie i nanoskali. Długość rodnika przy stężeniu 50 ppm $Al_2O_3$ w postaci nanocząstek była wyższa w porównaniu z kontrolą i masowym $Al_2O_3$ przy stężeniach 10, 100 i 500 ppm. Stwierdzono, że traktowanie dużą ilością $Al_2O_3$ ma bardziej hamujący wpływ na wskaźniki kiełkowania Cynara scolymus niż stosowanie $Al_2O_3$ w postaci nanocząstek. W badaniach określono, że Al2O 3 w dużych ilościach i w wysokich stężeniach nanocząsteczek ma negatywny wpływ na kiełkowanie nasion i wzrost siewek Cynara scolymus. Zaobserwowano znaczne zmniejszenie długości pędu embrionalnego, suchej masy sadzonek i wskaźnika wigoru siewek Cynara scolymus po ekspozycji na różne stężenia $Al_2O_3$ w rozmiarze masowym i nano, ale bez znaczących zmian w średnim czasie kiełkowania, ważonym wskaźniku kiełkowania i długości korzonków siewek. Wynika to albo z przywierania $Al_2O_3$ do korzeni w rozmiarze masowym i nanometrowym, utrudniając wchłanianie wody i składników odżywczych, albo nanocząsteczki są pobierane i przemieszczane w obrębie rośliny, powodując w ten sposób toksyczność wewnętrzną.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of hybrid Al2O3-TiO2 nano-cutting fluid in the turning process application under the selected significant machining parameters consisting of nano concentration, depth of cut and feed rate. Design/methodology/approach: The preparation of aqueous hybrid Al2O3-TiO2 water-based nano-cutting fluids and their application as the cutting fluid in turning operations are undertaken. The Al2O3-TiO2 hybrid nano-cutting fluids were prepared through a one-step method; by dispersing nanoparticles of Al2O3 (average diameter 30 nm) and TiO2 (average diameter 30-50 nm) in CNC coolant based at four different volume concentrations (1%, 2%, 3%, 4%). The effectiveness of turning cutting performance, namely cutting temperature (°C), average surface roughness (Ra), and tool wear (%), were assessed via air-assisted nano cutting fluids impinged through MQL setup in turning of Aluminium Alloy AA7075. The response surface method (RSM) was employed in the design of the experiment (DOE). Findings: The lowest cutting temperature, surface roughness, and tool wear of 25.8°C, 0.494 μm, and 0.0107%, are obtained, respectively, when the combinations of hybrid nano cutting fluid concentration of 4%, feed rate value of 0.1 mm/rev, and 0.3 mm depth of cut is used. Research limitations/implications: The result in this paper is based on the experimental study of Al2O3-TiO2 hybrid nano-cutting fluid using CNC turning operation. The process focuses on the finishing process by using a finishing insert. Further work using roughing process may be suggested to observe the better performance of this cutting process using nano-cutting fluid towards reducing the wear rate. Practical implications: The use of Al2O3-TiO2 hybrid nano-cutting fluid coupled with MQL in the CNC turning process is considered a new method. Machining soft and delicate materials such as Aluminium should consider using this combination technique since it lowers the cutting temperature and removes the chips, reducing the adhesive wear. Originality/value: The hybrid nano-cutting fluid can replace the conventional cutting fluid and will perform better if combined with the MQL cooling technique; this new method should be considered by major industry players that require a high-precision finished product such as the product that involves aircraft and aerospace applications.

Purpose: This paper is to study the stability of the current combination of hybrid nano-cutting fluids due to the recent progress in the analysis of nano-cutting fluids, such as the assessment methods for the stability of nano-cutting fluids, have revealed that instability is a common problem associated with nano cutting fluids. Design/methodology/approach: Five samples of 0.001 vol% that are suitable to be tested at UV-Vis machine, Al2O3–TiO2 hybrid nano-cutting fluid was prepared using a one-step process with the help of a magnetic stirrer to stir for 30 minutes with different sonication time to determine the best or optimum sonication time for this hybrid nano-cutting fluid. Stability of nano-cutting fluids was analyses using UV–Vis spectrophotometer (0.001%, 0.0001%, 0.00001%), visual sedimentation (1%, 2%, 3%, 4%), TEM photograph capturing techniques (2%) and zeta potential analysis (0.001%, 0.00001%), that used different volume concentration that is suitable for each type of stability analysis. Findings: The stability analysis reveals that the best sonication time is 90 minutes, and the UV-vis spectrophotometer shows the stability of all samples is above 80% during a month compared to the initial value. Further, visual sedimentation shows good stability with minimum sedimentation and colour separation only. The zeta potential value also shows great stability with a value of 37.6 mV. It is found that the hybrid nano-cutting fluid is stable for more than a month when the nano is suspended in the base fluid of conventional coolant. Research limitations/implications: The result in this paper is based on the experimental study of Al2O3-TiO2/CNC coolant base hybrid nano-cutting fluid for a month. However, to further validate the results presented in this paper, it is recommended to prolong the stability assessment time for six months for longer shelf life. Practical implications: The finding of this experimental study can be useful for high-precision product machining using similar CNC coolants, especially for aircraft and airspace applications for machining parts. Originality/value: No thorough stability assessment using all four types of stability analysis is done on Al2O3-TiO2/CNC Coolant base hybrid nano cutting fluid.

Light weight, low density with high mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, aluminum is the most important material and is commonly used for high performance applications such as aerospace, military and especially automotive industries. The researchers who participate in these industries are working hard to further decrease the weight of end products according to legal boundaries of greenhouse gases. A lot of research was undertaken to produce thin sectioned aluminum parts with improved mechanical properties. Several alloying element addition were investigated. Yet, nowadays aluminum has not met these expectations. Thus, composite materials, particularly metal matrix composites, have taken aluminum’s place due to the enhancement of mechanical properties of aluminum alloys by reinforcements. This paper deals with the overview of the reinforcements such as SiC, Al2O3 and graphene. Graphene has recently attracted many researcher due to its superior elastic modulus, high fatigue strength and low density. It is foreseen and predicted that graphene will replace and outperform carbon nanotubes (CNT) in near future.

W artykule przedstawiono projekt cyfrowej dokumentacji stanu dziedzictwa industrialnego Wrocławia. Efektem podjętych działań będzie stworzenie bazy danych do przechowywania i udostępniania danych służących popularyzacji wiedzy na temat obiektów przemysłowych z wykorzystaniem systemu informacji geograficznej. Opisano stan aktualny baz danych o zabytkach w Polsce oraz najistotniejsze elementy projektu. Najważniejszym założeniem jest umożliwienie gromadzenia szczegółowych danych przestrzennych i historycznych na temat obiektów przemysłowych w kontekście przemian czasowych (przebudowy, rozbudowy, rozbiórki). W pierwszej kolejności zostanie wykonany model stanu aktualnego z możliwością dołączenia materiałów archiwalnych oraz dokumentacji fotograficznej. Bazy i mapy zasobów dziedzictwa przemysłowego stworzone w projekcie będą dotyczyły trzech okresów historycznych: przed 1945 r., lat 1945-1989, lat 1990 r. do stanu aktualnego.
The paper presents the project of geospatial digital documentation of industrial heritage in Wrocław. A database for storing and sharing data presenting the knowledge about industrial buildings with the use of geographical information system will be the result works undertaken within the project. The current state of the monuments databases in Poland and the most important elements of the project were described in the paper. The most important proposition is to gather detailed spatial and historical data about industrial heritage in the context of spatiotemporal changes (reconstruction, extension, demolition). First, the model of the actual state will be developed with the possibility of attaching archival materials and photographic documentation. Databases and maps of the industrial heritage created in the project will refer to three historical periods: before 1945, 1945-1989, 1990 to the current state.

W pracy przedstawiono formułę do obliczania efektywnego współczynnika przewodzenia ciepła nanopłynów zawierających cząstki A1203 możliwą do wykorzystania przy obliczeniach numerycznych. Zaproponowano również metodę postępowania dla przypadku, gdy wyniki estymacji prowadzą do rezultatu niezgodnego z fizyką procesu.
A dependence for numerical calculations of effective thermal conductivity coefficient of nanofluids containing A1203 particles is presented in the paper. A procedure in case when the estimation leads to results inconsistent with physics of the process is also proposed.

This paper presents methods of modifying the anode surface layers of Al2O3 by introducing carbon to their rnicrostructure. Composite coatings were prepared using two different methods. In the first, coatings were formed by means of oxidation under constant current conditions. Anodic oxidation of aluminium was conducted in a multicomponent electrolyte with the addition of organic acids and graphite. The second method was based on the formation of oxide coatings in an electrolyte without the addition of graphite or heat treatment of the layers of succinic acid. The obtained coatings were tested using SEM, TEM, and GDOES (glow discharge optical emission spectrometry) and their tribological and stereometric properties were measured. The study demonstrated the beneficial effects of the methods when used to improve the tribological properties of sliding couples.

δ15N and δ18O in nitrates (NO3-)

Opis:
In this work the isotopes of oxygen and nitrogen were determined in nitrates of water samples collected in Horyniec Zdrój and they allowed the preliminary indication of the source of NO3– ion. The obtained δ15N and δ18O values of nitrates dissolved in the Róża III therapeutic water are +2.1, +13.1 ‰, respectively. They indicate the origin of NO3- ion from bacterial decomposition of organic matter which is abundant in the aquifer.Interpretation of the processes affecting the chemical and isotopic composition of investigated waters was possible by taking into account earlier isotopic analyzes as well as chemical composition, geological structure and hydrogeological conditions prevailing in the aquifer. The results and discussion presented in this paper have excluded the possible influence of external contaminants in Horyniec-Zdrój waters used for therapeutic purposes.

Opis:
The paper presents the studies' results of microstructure, microhardness, cohesion, phase composition and the corrosion resistance analysis of C45 steel after laser alloying with nickel oxide Ni2O3. The aim of the laser alloying was to obtain the surface layer with new properties through covering C45 steel by precoat containing modifying compound, and then remelting this precoat using laser beam. As a result of this process the surface layer consisting of remelted zone and heat affected zone was obtained. In the remelted zone an increased amount of modifying elements was observed. It was also found that the surface layer formed during the laser alloying with Ni2O3 was characterized by good corrosion resistance. This property has changed depending on the thickness of the applied precoat. It was observed that the thickness increase of nickel oxides precoat improves corrosion resistance of produced coatings.
