    This paper presents the dependence of air pollution with sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide on wind direction in Szczecin, Łeba, Elbląg and Zielona Góra in the period 19931999. It has been shown that the most disadvantageous air quality conditions in the cities listed above are on the days with air inflow from south-east, and the most advantageous on the days with advection from north-west. This dependence is particularly evident in the case of pollution with sulphur dioxide, especially in the cold half-year.

    Wychodnie skalne środkowego Bałtyku, wysp szwedzkich oraz południowo-wschodniej Szwecji były obszarem dominującej egzaracji tej części lądolodu, która podczas fazy pomorskiej późnego plenivistulianu dotarła po NW Polskę i NE Niemcy. W zespole wszystkich skandynawskich narzutniaków najmłodszych osadów depozycji glacjalnej z NW Polski i NE Niemiec około 30-40% stanowią skały krystaliczne. Ich obszarem macierzystym jest tarcza bałtycka, uformowana w proterozoiku. Do najważniejszych narzutniaków pochodzących z tarczy bałtyckiej należą: granity Uppsala i Stockholm, granit rapakivi Aland, eratyki z Dalarny (granity Garberg, Jima, Siljan oraz porfir Dalama). Są to także eratyki egzarowane w transskandynawskim paśmie magmowym: granity Smáland, Vánevik, Vörlebo, Filipstad, Kristinehamn, czerwone i szare granity Vöxjö, porfiry Páscallavik; dalej są to eratyki z regionu Blekinge-Bornholn (granity Karlshamn, Spinkamála, Halen, Vánga, Hammer, Vang, Svaneke) oraz eratyki z regionu gnejsowego SW Szwecji (sjenity Glimákra i Vaggeryd, gnejs Járna i czarnokit Varberg). W grupie skał narzutowych są także skały uformowane podczas młodszych zdarzeń geologicznych (np. permski porfir rombowy z Oslo czy jurajski bazalt ze Skanii). Skały macierzyste są zlokalizowane również w obrębie pokrywy osadowej dna Bałtyku centralnego i południowego, której powstanie wiąże się ze zdarzeniami geologicznymi w neoproterozoiku, wczesnym paleozoiku i kredzie. Z dna Bałtyku, wysp Gotlandii i Olandii oraz państw nadbałtyckich pochodzi około 60-70% wszystkich eratyków osadowych późnoplenivistuliańskiej depozycji glacjalnej. Są to: piaskowce jotnickie, wapienie ordowiku i syluru, dewońskie piaskowce i dolomity. Z południowo-zachodniego Bałtyku pochodzą górnokredowe wapienie oraz górnokredowe i paleogeńskie krzemienie.
    The hardrock substratum of the middle Baltic Sea, Swedish islands and south-eastern Sweden are the main areas eroded by the late Pleniweichselian ice sheet. The erratics that the ice transported away from these areas are now found in the youngest glacial deposits of NW Poland and NE Germany. The Scandinavian erratics sampled from the youngest glacial deposits in NW Poland and NE Germany consist for 30-40% of crystalline rocks derived from the Proterozoic of the Fennoscandian (Baltic) Shield. They include Svecofennian rocks (Uppsala granite, Stockholm granite, Áland rapakivi granite), granites and porphyries from Dalama (Garberg granite, Jima granite, Siljan granite, Dalama porhyry), as well as materiał from the Transscandinavian Igneous Belt (Smáland granite, Vánevik granite, Vörlebo granite, red and grey Vöxjö granites, Páscallavik porphyry, Filipstad granite and Kristinehamn granite), from the Blekinge-Bornholn region (Karlshamn granite, Spinkamála granite, Halen granite, Vánga granite, Hammer granite, Vang granite, Svaneke granite), and the gneissic region of SW Sweden (Glimákra syenite, Vaggeryd syenite, Járna gneiss, Varberg chamockit). Other erratics come from younger volcanic rocks, dating back to the Late Palaeozoic and Jurassic/Cretaceous (e.g., the romb porphyry from the Oslo graben and Scanian basalt). The sedimentary cover of the Neoproterozoic, the Lower Palaeozoic and the Cretaceous (from the Baltic Sea, Aland Islands, Gotland, Öland and the Baltic states) are also source rocks. Glacial sediments deposited directly south of the Baltic Sea consist for 60-70% of Fennoscandian sedimentary erratics. They include: Jotnian sandstones, Ordovician and Silurian limestones, Devonian sandstones (Old Red) and dolomites. Other source areas of indicator erratics are located along the Sorgenfrei-Teisseyre-Tornquist zone and further to the south-west (e.g. Late Cretaceous limestones, Late Cretaceous and Paleogene flints).

    The paper presents an analysis of the extreme precipitation recorded in north-western Poland between 1951 and 1995. The author of the present paper selected a day with a maximal twenty-fourhour precipitation sum out of each month. The author also selected intervals characterized by specific twenty-four-hour values: 0.1-9.9 mm, 10.0-19.9 mm, 20.0-29.9 mm, 30.0-49.9 mm, 50.0-99.9 mm and ≥100 mm. The author selected frequencies of their occurrence and a monthly average and annual maximums’ sum of precipitation. A concept of an extreme precipitation relates to twentyfour- hour sums 50.0-99.9 mm and ≥100 mm. Moreover the author selected the days with extreme twenty-four-hour sums ≥100 mm and specified the atmospheric circulation types, distinguished by B. Osuchowska-Klein (1975).
    W pracy przybliżono problematykę ekstremalnych opadów w północno-zachodniej Polsce. Badanie ekstremalnych wartości elementów meteorologicznych to jedno z najważniejszych zagadnień klimatologii. Występowanie tych elementów może spowodować straty ekonomiczne, społeczne czy środowiskowe. W analizie uwzględniono dobowe sumy opadów z 14 stacji, obejmujące lata 1951-1995. Dla obszaru północno-zachodniej Polski za opad ekstremalny przyjęto sumy dobowe 50,0-99,9 mm i ³100 mm, następnie przeprowadzono analizę wybranych dni, w których wystąpiły ekstremalne dobowe sumy opadów ≥100 mm i określono typy cyrkulacji atmosferycznej, wyróżnione przez B. Osuchowską-Klein (1975). Z przeprowadzonych analiz wynika, że na obszarze północno-zachodniej Polski występują opady ekstremalne, które przekraczają granice bezpieczeństwa, powodując zagrożenia społeczno-gospodarcze i środowiskowe. Sumy dobowe 50,0-99,9 mm pojawiały się od maja do października oraz w lutym, natomiast sumy ≥100 mm występowały tylko w letnich miesiącach. W badanym wieloleciu 1951-1995, przy uwzględnieniu 14 stacji z obszaru północno- zachodniej Polski ekstremalne opady 50,0-99,9 mm wystąpiły 102 razy (6%), natomiast opady ≥100 mm – 3 razy: w Łebie (24.07.1988 r.), Koszalinie (18.08.1991 r.) i Toruniu (15.06.1980 r.). Jednakże, przy uwzględnieniu większej liczby stacji (185 stacji dla okresu 1961-1980) sumy ≥100 mm wystąpiły w 14 innych stacjach. Dla tych dni wykonano mapy i określono typ cyrkulacji atmosferycznej. Otrzymano, że ekstremalne opady występowały przy typach cyrkulacji cyklonalnej – Eo (północno-wschodnia i wschodnia), F (południowo- -wschodnia) i CB (północno-zachodnia) oraz antycyklonalnej – E1 (południowo-wschodnia i wschodnia) i C2D (zachodnia). W wybranych 8 dniach opady ekstremalne wystąpiły: w czerwcu (2 razy) – przy typach F i E1; w lipcu (3 razy) – przy typach Eo (2 razy) i C2D i w sierpniu (3 razy) – przy typach Eo, F i CB. W 6 dniach przyczyną opadów ekstremalnych były typy cyklonalne. W ciepłym okresie roku, przy typach cyrkulacji ze składową północną na obszar północno- zachodniej Polski napływa chłodne powietrze, natomiast przy typach południowo-wschodnich i wschodnich napływa bardzo ciepłe powietrze, często o dużej wilgotności względnej. W obu przypadkach adwekcja powietrza może prowadzić do rozwoju konwekcji i w rezultacie powstają opady o ekstremalnej sumie.

    W pracy omówiono kompleksową analizę petrograficzną osadów lodowcowych, obejmującą frakcję żwirów średnioziarnistych i gruboziarnistych. Podano cel i zakres badań oraz zaprezentowano znaczenie i rolę analiz petrograficznych. Przedstawiono zależność składu petrograficznego od frakcji osadu i jego genezy. Analizę petrograficzną omówiono w aspektach terenowym, laboratoryjnym i kameralnym. Podano również możliwości zastosowania analizy petrograficznej do celów litostratygraficznych oraz poznawczych w świetle analizy materiału kamiennego budującego obiekty dziedzictwa kulturowego.
    The paper discusses a comprehensive Polish petrographic study of glacial sediments, including a fine and coarse gravel. The purpose and scope of research as well as the importance and role of the petrographic analysis is presented. The dependence of petrographic composition on the sediment fractions and its genesis is discussed. The petrographic analysis is discussed in the aspects of field, laboratory and intimate work. The paper provides the possibility of applying for the petrographic analysis due to lithostratigraphic purposes; it also shows how stone buildings of cultural heritage can be analysed in the light of the petrographic analysis.

    Fennoscandinavian er rat ics found in the gla cial de pos its till and in the glaciofluvial sed i ments within the main limit of the Odra gla cier lobe (NW Po land and NE Ger many), have been ex am ined in two frac tions: of 4–10 mm and 20–60 mm. The most nu mer ous in the frac tion of 4–10 mm are: crys tal line rocks (Cr; 35–40%) orig i nat ing in the Pro terozoic Bal tic Shield as well as Lower Palaeozoic lime stones (LPL; 35–40%) – from the sed i men tary sheet cov er ing the Pro tero zoic Bal tic Shield in the area of cen tral Bal tic Sea. Per cent age of sand stones (S) amounts to 10–15%. The remain ing rock types (sev eral per cent each) are: Palaeozoic shales (PS), the out crops of which are lo cal ized in Scania (Sk¯ne) and on Born holm, Cre ta ceous lime stones (CL) and flintstones (F) orig i nat ing from the west ern part of the south ern Bal tic Sea as well as quartz (Q), milk quartz (MQ) and iso lated grains of De vo nian dolomites (DD). From the anal y sis of in di ca tor er rat ics, which was car ried out in the 20–60 mm frac tion, it ap pears that mainly the out -crops lo cal ized in Sm¯land (e.g. red and grey Växjö gran ites, P¯skallavik por phy ries or Tessini and Kalmarsund sand - stones) as well as in Scania (Höör and Hardeberga sand stones) and Re gion Blekinge–Born holm (e.g. Karlshamn and Halen gran ites as well as NexÝ and Bavnodde sand stones) had been sub jected to the gla cial pluck ing. The o ret i cal boul der cen tres (TBC, Ger man: TGZ das Theoretische Geschiebezentrum, Lüttig 1958), which were cal cu lated for 23 sam ples, are lo cal ized mostly in a small area in Sm¯land, be tween 15°E–16°E and 56.5°N–58.5°N. Apart from in di ca - tor er rat ics the sta tis ti cal ones are nu mer ous, that are first of all grey and red Lower Palaeozoic lime stones with their out crops lo cal ized at the bot tom of the cen tral Bal tic Sea. Tak ing into ac count the TBC val ues of in di ca tor er rat ics as well as high per cent age of sta tis ti cal er rat ics it can be pro nounced that the sec tion of cen tral and west ern Bal tic Sea as well as the one of south-east ern Swe den had been sub jected to the heavi est gla cial pluck ing by that part of the Pleis to - cene ice-sheet which reached the stud ied area dur ing the Pom er a nian Phase.

    Ten species of digeneans were found in a survey of six species of terrestrial birds associated with woodland and urban habitats of north-western Poland carried out in 2006–2009: Leucochloridium paradoxum Carus, 1835 (Leucochloridiidae) from the Cyanistes caeruleus (L.) and the Parus major L. (Paridae); Leuchochloridium perturbatum Pojmańska, 1968 (Leucochloridiidae) from the Turdus merula L., (Turdidae) and the Corvus monedula L. (Corvidae); Leucochloridium sp. (Leucochloridiidae Poche, 1907) from the Asio otus (L.) (Strigidae) and P. major; Strigea strigis (Schrank, 1788) (Strigeidae) from the A. otus; Morishitium elongatum (Harrach, 1921) (Cyclocoelidae) and Psilotornus confertus Machalska, 1974 (Psilostomidae) and Leyogonimus postgonoporos (Neiland, 1951) and Lutztrema attenuatum (Dujardin, 1845) (Dicrocoeliidae) from the T. merula; Plagiorchis maculosus (Rudolphi, 1802) (Plagiorchiidae) from the C. caeruleus; Prosthogonimus ovatus (Rudolphi, 1803) (Prosthogonimidae) from the Dendrocopos major (Linnaeus) (Picidae); Zonorchis petiolatus (Railliet, 1900) (Dicrocoeliidae) from the T. merula and the C. monedula. Five species and one genus of digeneans: L. paradoxum from the C. caeruleus and the P. major; Leucochloridium sp. from the A. otus and P. major; P. confertus from the T. merula; P. maculosus from the C. caeruleus; P. ovatus from the D. major and Z. petiolatus from the C. monedula represent new Polish host records. S. striges and L. postgonoporus represent new Polish locations.

    Opis:
    Północno-wschodnia Polska jest określana mianem pogranicza religijnego, gdyż obszar ten kształtował się pod wpływem oddziaływania dwóch wielkich tradycji chrześcijańskich: zachodniej (łacińskiej) i wschodniej (bizantyjsko-ruskiej). W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań, których celem było określenie zasięgu strefy przenikania kulturowego na podstawie analizy natężenia występowania obiektów sakralnych na terenie północno-wschodniej Polski i zachodniej Białorusi. W badaniu wykorzystano metodę wieloboków Thiessena (diagram Voronoi) oraz narzędzia geoinformacyjne (GIS) i geostatystyczne. W efekcie uzyskano mapy intensywności obiektów sakralnych (świątyń rzymskokatolickich i prawosławnych) oraz dwubiegunową mapę przenikania kulturowego, które pozwoliły określi zasięgu krajobrazu kulturowego pogranicza.
    The north-eastern Poland is described as a religious borderland and has been formed as a result of the inter-action of two great religious and cultural traditions: the Western (Latin) and Eastern (Byzantine-Ruthenian, Orthodox). The paper presents results of the research which aim was to present the extent of the cultural diffusion zone on the basis of the intensity of occurrence of church buildings in north-eastern Poland and western Belarus. The study used the method of Thiessen polygons (Voronoi diagram), and geo-information (GIS) and geostatistical tools. The result is the intensity maps of sacral buildings (Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches) and a bimodal map of the cultural diffusion that helped to determine the extent of the cultural landscape of the borderland.

    Praca powstała w celu rozpoznania oraz oceny georóżnorodności i geoturystycznej atrakcyjności Drawieńskiego Parku Narodowego (DPN) i jego pojedynczych geostanowisk. Przeprowadzono analizę bonitacyjną obszaru podzielonego na pola podstawowe oraz geostanowisk. Kategorie waloryzacji obszaru obejmowały: rzeźbę terenu, występowanie obiektów kamiennych, wody powierzchniowe i źródła, szczególne walory biologiczne chronione prawem, dostępność dla turysty, wartości kulturowe i dodane. Geostanowiska poddano ocenie pod względem wartości geologicznych i geomorfologicznych (liczba podobnych obiektów, stopień przekształcenia, reprezentatywność, wartość edukacyjna), wartości dodanych (wartości kulturowe i estetyczne) oraz wartości użytkowych (dostępność, widoczność, stopień ochrony, baza turystyczna). Na tle 125 pól podstawowych o niskiej georóżnorodności (cenne walory dziedzictwa przyrodniczego i kulturowego występują pojedynczo, teren jest trudno dostępny i nie występują wartości dodane) wyróżniono 50 pól o umiarkowanej georóżnorodności. Pola te są położone w sposób nieciągły wzdłuż rzeki Drawy i Płocicznej. Największe ich zgrupowanie występuje w północno-zachodniej, północno-wschodniej i południowej części parku. Najczęściej oceniano je jako średnio atrakcyjne geoturystycznie, gdyż na takich polach interesującym obiektom hydrologicznym z reguły nie towarzyszą najbardziej atrakcyjne walory geomorfologiczne. Elementami zwiększającymi do pewnego stopnia różnorodność obszaru są tu geostanowiska, których głównymi walorami są obiekty dziedzictwa kulturowego i historycznego. Pozostałości dawnego przemysłu świadczą często, choć nie zawsze, o wykorzystywaniu naturalnego zróżnicowania obszaru DPN. Wykorzystywanie rzek, spadków terenu czy materiału skalnego pochodzącego z okolicznych pól sprawia, że stanowiska na pozór antropogeniczne stają się obiektami podkreślającymi i wydobywającymi dziedzictwo geologiczne i geomorfologiczne oraz ukazują zróżnicowanie przyrody nieożywionej. W parku tym szlaki turystyczne poprowadzono wyłącznie wzdłuż najciekawszych miejsc, co powoduje, że turyści nie mają możliwości dotarcia do innych obszarów. Dwa pola – R13 i R14 – odznaczają się dużą georóżnorodnością. Na ich terenie występują nie tylko najcenniejsze walory przyrodnicze, lecz także kulturowe. Zaliczają się do nich: duże, przekraczające 10 m, deniwelacje terenu, więcej niż trzy formy ukształtowania powierzchni terenu, odznaczająca się specjalnymi walorami sieć hydrologiczna oraz prawnie chronione walory biologiczne. Turysta zwiedzający wspomniane pola ma do dyspozycji szlak pieszy, kajakowy oraz konny, może też przemieszczać się szosą. Na obu polach podstawowych jest po kilka, cenionych przez turystów, obiektów paraturystycznych, które podnoszą atrakcyjność regionu, jak np. parkingi, punkty widokowe, pomniki przyrody, rezerwaty, stanowiska wędkarskie itp. Ten niewielki obszar 2 km2 jest bardzo atrakcyjny geoturystycznie, a przewidywany tu wzrost antropopresji wymaga opracowania odpowiednich działań w celu zachowania i ochrony dziedzictwa przyrody nieożywionej.
    This article aims to identify and evaluate geodiversity as well as geotouristic attractiveness of the Drawa National Park (DPN), north-western Poland, including evaluation of individual geosites. As a consequence, the most precious geotouristic values of the DPN are presented. The ranking method of basic fields and geosites was used. Criteria of evaluation of the area included as follows: terrain relief, the presence of petrographic objects, hydrographic network, special biological values protected by the law, accessibility for tourists, and cultural and added values. Geosites were evaluated in terms of geological and geomorphological values, added values and practical values. The analysis indicates 125 basic fields of low geodiversity (valuable qualities of natural and cultural heritage occur singly, the area is difficult to access, and there are no added values). Fifty basic fields are indicated by moderate geodiversity. They are located along the Drawa and Płociczna rivers. These fields were also evaluated as moderately attractive. The interesting hydrographic objects are generally not accompanied by the most attractive geomorphological ones. The elements that increase to some extent the geodiversity of the area are geosites of precious technical-cultural and historical heritage. Two fields: R13 and R14 are characterized by high geodiversity, because the most precious natural values are accompanied by the cultural ones. The varied relief of diversified genesis has an easy access; the area shows special hydrographic and biological values. The added values, appreciated by tourists, are frequent. This small area of 2 km2 has a high geotouristic potential. Therefore, the predicted human impact in attractive or very attractive places requires an appropriate action to preserve and protect geomorphological/ inanimate heritage.

    A new petrographic garden was established in 2012 in Moryń, north-western Poland. Thirty five erratics, derived from adjacent till moraines, witness local geological heritage and form a new geotouristic attraction. Together with other geovalues of this region, the petrographic garden is a cornerstone of the Polish-German geopark “Glacial Land over the Odra River” (Ger. Geopark Eiszeitland am Oderrand).

    The geotourism potential of ten geosites, occurring within the Drawskie Lake District, north-western Poland, was evaluated to demonstrate the need for the establishment of a geopark named “Postglacial land of the Drawa and Dębnica rivers”. Each site was investigated in respect of its scientific (geological and geomorphological), educational, economic, conservation, and added values. It has been found that two geosites, being also cultural heritage sites (Drahim Castle and Pottery Settlement in Sikory), have the greatest geotourism potential. Different aspects of inanimate nature are promoted in both geosites. Thanks to the existence of such objects there is a good chance for the successful development of geotourism, which is a tool for the sustainable socio-economic development of the region.

    As a result of research carried out in June and July 2017, at five sites in north-western Poland with different characteristics, 769 individuals belonging to three dipteran families of forensic significance were collected. The most abundant family was Calliphoridae, which was represented by 8 species (Calliphora vicina, Calliphora loewi, Lucilia bufonivora, Lucilia caesar, Lucilia illustris, Lucilia sericata, Lucilia silvarum, and Lucilia richardsi). The experiment examines differences in the dominance of individual species depending on the habitat type and the time of year, and also shows correlations between environmental parameters and individual taxa.
    W wyniku badań przeprowadzonych w czerwcu i lipcu 2017 roku, na pięciu stanowiskach o zróżnicowanej charakterystyce w północno-zachodniej Polsce zebrano 769 osobników należących do 3 rodzin muchówek mających znaczenie w kryminalistyce. Najliczniej występującą rodziną była Calliphornidae, którą reprezentowało 8 gatunków (Calliphora vicina, Calliphora loewi, Lucilia bufonivora, Lucilia caesar, Lucilia illustris, Lucilia sericata, Lucilia silvarum, Lucilia richardsi). Doświadczenie sprawdza różnice w dominacji poszczególnych gatunków w zróżnicowaniu względem typu siedliska oraz w odstępstwie czasowym, a także pokazuje korelację między parametrami środowiskowymi, a poszczególnymi taksonami.

    The article presents 20 geosites located on five geotourist paths and their closest vicinity, constituting the initial part of the planned geopark Postglacial land of Drawa and Dębnica. Geosites represent the most valuable abiotic resources, proving the large geodiversity of the studied area. These are: 1. glacial and fluvioglacial accumulation forms (e.g.: terminal end-moraine of the Parsęta lobe, undulating moraine uplands, glacial deposits including erratic border boulders, esker ridges), 2. glacial and fluvioglacial erosive forms (e.g.: channel and melt-out-depressions), 3. other (like e.g.: deep erosive and erosional-denudation valleys, erosive forms of groundwater or 1st order watershed between the Odra and Parsęta catchments). The purpose of the geosites characteristics in this paper is to support the development of geotourism in the peripheral tourist area.
