The article is a response to the proposal to create a space for discourse on the dramatic dimensions of contemporary humanities. Dramaturgy, creativity and transgression are notions in the master discourse of three women Nobel Prize winners. The basis for the text is the issues contained in the speeches given by these Nobel Prize-winning authors. The intersubjective discourse around humanistic concerns about the changes in the present regards the limits of creation, the process of creative transgressions in designing the world and the potential in the space of sense-creating experiences. It shows a vision of a human who “thinks through creativity, sees the world differently”. Transgressive activity allows us to transform reality, and going beyond the boundaries is like successive acts of creating, or at least the creation of the world.

Aim/purpose – The main aim of the present paper is to identify the problem of uncertainty and risk in research carried out by the Nobel Prize Laureates in Economic Sciences and its analysis by disciplines/sub-disciplines represented by the awarded researchers. Design/methodology/approach – The paper rests on the literature analysis, mostly analysis of research achievements of the Nobel Prize Laureates in Economic Sciences. Findings – Studies have determined that research on uncertainty and risk is carried out in many disciplines and sub-disciplines of economic sciences. In addition, it has been established that a number of researchers among the Nobel Prize laureates in the field of economic sciences, take into account the issues of uncertainty and risk. The analysis showed that researchers selected from the Nobel Prize laureates have made a significant contribution to raising awareness of the importance of uncertainty and risk in many areas of the functioning of individuals, enterprises and national economies. Research implications/limitations – Research analysis was based on a selected group of scientific research – Laureates of the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences. However, thus confirmed ground-breaking and momentous nature of the research findings of this group of authors justifies the selective choice of the analysed research material. Originality/value/contribution – The paper includes a selection of research achievements in uncertainty and risk of the Nobel Prize Winners in Economic Sciences previously not presented in scientific papers.

The author presents the reception of the works of Czesław Miłosz in Italy starting from the first articles mentioning his name in the late 1940s. After his emigration from Poland in the 1950s, thanks to his efforts in favor of freedom of expression and of criticism of socialist realism, he found many Italian intellectuals who shared the same views. In 1980, when he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, Miłosz had his greatest moment of fame, which allowed him to publish his most important works in Italy. The second part of the article consists of the complete bibliography of Miłosz’s texts in Italian, including those published in newspapers and magazines.

The paper discusses selected reactions to the Nobel Prize for Literature awarded to Olga Tokarczuk. The author focuses on the dispute about the legitimacy and justification of the Swedish Academy’s decision, highlighting the sceptical opinions, in some cases challenging the Academy’s members’ verdict. Referring to a book by James F. English on cultural prizes, the author recalls the role of public controversies as an essential tool of influencing the general public. He also compares the situation of two winners of the Nobel Prize in Literature (Olga Tokarczuk – for 2018, Peter Handke – for 2019), announced on the same day. Concluding, the author seeks to present the most important aspects of the dispute on the position and influence of Tokarczuk’s literary output.

It is one of the oldest and most effective methods of working with a student – a method which builds upon the growing relationship between the teacher and the student, often called the master‒student method or simply tutoring – and yet, it is still not common in Polish universities.One may say that from the view of the general public this method is considered elitist, because for various reasons it has been understood that only a small group of selected students can be taught this way, and only a few can use this method. Hence, in order to make certain how it is actually understood, a survey was prepared and presented to two groups of people: a group of students and graduates of the College of Interdisciplinary Studies, University of Wrocław, and a group of 125 employees of the University of Wrocław who worked as tutors in the past. It remains to be hoped that tutoring will be introduced into the education system in Poland not only in higher education – as has already begun to happen – but also on a larger scale in secondary and primary education. Regardless of how tutoring is actually perceived fortunately it is becoming an increasingly popular teaching method in Poland.

Si ricostruisce l'atmosfera che accompagnònel 1906  il conferimento del Premio Nobel per  la letteratura a Giosue Carducci, sottolinenandone l'anacronsmo e le motivazioni esplicitamente nazionalistiche e sotterraneamente antiasburgiche. Tuttavia, la ricezione novecentesca di Carducci, da Croce fino alle soglie del 1968 continuerà a ribadirne la priorità nel canone della poesia italiana moderna.
This article reconstructs the atmosphere surrounding the award of the Nobel Prize for Literature to Giosue Carducci in 1906, highlighting his anachronism and overtly nationalist and latent anti-Habsburg motivations. However, the twentieth-century reception of Carducci, from Benedetto Croce’s remarks to the opinions formulated at the dawn of 1968, would continue to emphasize his essential place in the canon of modern Italian poetry.
W artykule Autor rekonstruuje atmosferę, jaka towarzyszyła przyznaniu literackiej Nagrody Nobla Giosue Carducciemu w 1906 roku, podkreślając jego anachronizm oraz jawnie nacjonalistyczne i utajone antyhabsburskie motywacje. Jednak dwudziestowieczna recepcja Carducciego, począwszy od uwag Benedetta Crocego aż do opinii formułowanych u progu 1968 roku, nadal będzie podkreślać jego istotne miejsce w kanonie współczesnej poezji włoskiej.

The paper discusses the reception of Olga Tokarczuk’s works after the author received the Nobel Prize in Literature. It addresses the issue of politicisation of literature – the Nobel Prize winner’s novels are read through the angle of her left-wing views, with less importance attributed to the quality of the works as such. The paper answers the question as to what the Nobel Prize winner enchanted the Swedish Academy with, explains how Tokarczuk structures her novels and what makes them stand out (the psychological approach), and also discusses the author’s view on the role of literature in today’s world.

Quasimodo è ancora attuale, oppure gli stati d’animo della sua poesia non trovano più facile ascolto? La ricezione antologica delle opere di Quasimodo appare incentrata sul ruolo di interprete indiscusso dell’ermetismo, accanto ad altri autori.  Tra i maggiori interpreti della condizione dell’uomo moderno, a Quasimodo viene attribuito un ruolo significativo nella letteratura del Novecento, come dimostrano i riconoscimenti a lui attribuiti dalla cultura internazionale, che portarono al prestigioso riconoscimento del Premio Nobel per la letteratura nel 1959. Nella sua opera letteraria confluiscono le profonde riflessioni umane che delineano un percorso formativo ricco di svolte, di approfondimenti e di soluzioni stilistiche originali.  Il contributo intende prendere in esame una campionatura di volumi antologici in adozione nelle scuole secondarie degli ultimi decenni, per analizzare le differenze di inserimento tra autori coevi, alla luce delle diverse impostazioni e interpretazioni dei curatori, sia come canone autoriale da proporre agli studenti, sia come analisi dei passi tratti dalle opere di Quasimodo.
Is Quasimodo a writer still relevant, or do the moods of his poetry ring false? The anthological reception of Quasimodo’s works seems to focus on his role as the undisputed interpreter of Hermeticism. It is Quasimodo who is placed among the main diagnosticians of the modern human condition – attributing to him a significant role in twentieth century literature, as evidenced by the international accolades bestowed upon him, which led in time to his being awarded the prestigious Nobel Prize in Literature in 1959. Deep human reflections, full of turning points, insights and original stylistic solutions, converge in his works. This paper aims to examine the anthology volumes used in secondary schools in recent decades, and to analyze the differences between the presence of Quasimodo’s texts and those of other authors contemporary to him, in light of the different approaches of curators and anthologists. The author is interested both in the authorial canon proposed to students and in the functional uses of excerpts from selected works by Quasimodo.
Czy Quasimodo jest nadal aktualny, czy nastroje jego poezji nie brzmią fałszywą nutą? Antologiczna recepcja dzieł Quasimodo wydaje się koncentrować na jego roli niekwestionowanego interpretatora hermetyzmu. Wśród głównych diagnostów kondycji współczesnego człowieka umieszcza się właśnie Quasimodo – przypisując mu znaczącą rolę w literaturze XX wieku, o czym świadczą nadane mu międzynarodowe wyróżnienia, które doprowadziły do przyznania mu z czasem prestiżowej literackiej Nagrody Nobla w 1959 roku. W jego twórczości zbiegają się głębokie ludzkie refleksje, pełne punktów zwrotnych, spostrzeżeń i oryginalnych rozwiązań stylistycznych. Artykuł ma na celu zbadanie tomów antologicznych wykorzystywanych w szkołach średnich w ostatnich dziesięcioleciach, a także analizę różnic między obecnością tekstów Quasimodo, a innych współczesnych mu autorów, w świetle odmiennych podejść kuratorów i antologistów. Autorkę interesuje zarówno kanon autorski proponowany uczniom, jak i funkcjonalne użycia fragmentów wybranych dzieł Quasimodo.

It seems that some of the facts of the rich and interesting but also very instructive bio graphy of Amarty Kumar Sen, a modern economist of Indian origin, allow to understand better not only his selection of issues from a wide range of the latest economic problems, which differs from many other economists and to which he has devoted his research works, but also to understand a system of values adopted by him. Het article is therefore an attempt to reach the source of thinking of one of the most interesting contemporary economists. Th e author tries to show the deep roots of his economic and social thoughts, mainly derived from the Hindu philosophy but fi ltered through the Western way of thinking, with many interesting references to the European philosophy. The author also attempts to outline a surprisingly rich area of his interests and to draw attention to a social rank of problems undertaken by him.

W 2012 roku Nagrodę Nobla w dziedzinie fizyki otrzymali Serge Haroche i David J. Wineland „za przełomowe eksperymentalne metody, które umożliwiają pomiar i manipulację pojedynczych układów kwantowych”. Ich odkrycia pozwalają na wielokrotne obserwacje stanów kwantowych obiektów, takich jak fotony i jony, bez dekoherencji, czyli wymuszonego sprowadzenia tych cząsteczek na stałe do jednego z możliwych stanów. Przeprowadzone eksperymenty polegają na uwięzieniu cząsteczek w odpowiednich pułapkach jonowych schłodzonych do temperatur bliskich zeru absolutnemu, umieszczonych w próżni, a następnie wykorzystaniu różnic w sposobie oddziaływania cząsteczek na otoczenie w mierzonych stanach kwantowych. Te odkrycia wpłynęły na badania związane m.in. z komputerami kwantowymi i dokładnością pomiaru czasu.
The Nobel Prize in Physics 2012 was awarded to Serge Haroche and David J. Wineland „for ground-breaking experimental methods that enable measuring and manipulation of individual quantum systems”. Their discoveries enable observing quantum states of objects, such as photons and ions, without decoherence, that is without forcefully making the particle choose one of the states. The experiments are based on trapping the particles in appropriate ion traps, cooled to temperatures close to the absolute zero, placed in vacuum, and then using the differences in interaction of the particles in different quantum states with the environment. These discoveries enabled advancements in studies of quantum computers and precise time measurements.

Od blisko trzydziestu lat Al Gore jest aktywnym działaczem ruchów społecznych na rzecz obrony środowiska naturalnego. Ostatnie jego wypowiedzi mają charakter katastroficzny, bowiem głosi, że jeśli nie powstrzymamy wzrostu emisji dwutlenku węgla już za 10 lat grozi nam być może zagłada całego ziemskiego ekosystemu. Rozgłos tej wypowiedzi na całym świecie świadczy o tym, że problemy dotyczące ochrony środowiska odgrywają coraz istotniejsza rolę w polityce. Świadectwem tego jest także przyznanie 12 października 2007 roku Pokojowej Nagrody Nobla Al Gore'owi wspólnie z Międzyrządowym Panelem do spraw Zmian Klimatu ONZ. Al. Gore jest także współlaureatem z 2007 r. Oskara, nagrody Amerykańskiej Akademii Filmowej za swój film "Niewygodna prawda" (Inconvenient Truth). Zdobycie w jednym roku dwóch prestiżowych nagród: Oskara oraz Pokojowej Nagrody Nobla w uznaniu zasług za przeciwdziałanie globalnemu ociepleniu, nie jest przypadkowe. Poczesne miejsce wśród publikacji Gore'a zajmuje książka "Ziemia na Krawędzi - Człowiek i Ekologia". Gore w swej książce zaproponował nowy "Globalny Plan Marshalla", którego realizacja miałaby doprowadzić do osiągnięcia pożądanego i zrównoważonego rozwoju na poziomie globalnym.
From nearly thirty years Al Gore has been an aetivist of social movements for natural environment protection. His latest speeches has a catastrophic character because he claims that if people will not stop increasing of emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, in ten years terrestrial ecologic system could be destroyed. The publicity of this statement in all over the world speaks volumes for that problems concerning environmental protection play morę and morę important role in politics. The testimony to that was Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Gore on October 12th in 2007, which was shared by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. In 2007 Al Gore also starred in the Aeademy Award - winning documentary on the topie of global warming, An Inconvenient Truth. Winning two of prestige awards during one year: Oscar and Nobel Peace Prize was not an accident but approbation of his merits in counteraction against global warming problem. A prominent place in Al Gore's publications oceupies the book Earth in the Balance: Ecology and the Human Spirit. In his book Gore proposes the new Global Marshall Plan. The realisation of this plan could lead to desirable and balanced development on global level.

Zum Ausgangspunkt dieser Analyse wurde die Sprache Herta Müllers gewählt. Die Autorin benutzt in ihrem Werk als literarisches Mittel das Unausgesprochene, Verschwiegene und Außersprachliche. Eine wesentliche Rolle für das Schaffen von Müller spielt die Welt der schweigenden, aber doch mit dem Menschen kommunizierenden Natur. Das Ziel war die Erforschung der im Schaffen der Nobelpreisträgerin häufig vorkommenden Pflanzenmotive (Pflanzen und Pflanzenteile) und die Analyse ihrer Symbolik im politischen und sozialen Kontext in Rumänien und im Arbeitslager in Russland.
The point of departure for this text has been constituted by the language used by Herta Müller – i.e. everything which is not articulated, left unsaid, non-verbalized. Crucial for Müller’s oeuvre is the world of nature – silent, yet communicating with the man. The aim of this presentation was the research of plant motifs (plants and parts of plants) which most frequently appear in the Nobelist’s works, as well as the analysis of their symbolism in the political and social context of Romania and Russian labour camp.
