Opis:
Nitrogen (N) nutrition is a major means of controlling growth and fruiting of trees. In EU Countries, society’s expectations and political decisions have pushed for the adoption of sustainable ways to manage orchards. Guidelines for N management aim to limit fertiliser applications under threshold limits, in order to reduce N losses. Increasing the effectiveness of the recycling of the N present in the orchard is a basic step to reduce external N inputs. The availability of the stable isotope ¹⁵N as experimental tool has made possible significant advances in the knowledge of the fluxes of N at tree and orchard level. This paper discusses the N fluxes occurring within the tree both between the years and within the year (root-shoot-root N recycle) and their role in the vegetative and reproductive cycle of fruit trees.
Odżywianie azotem (N) stanowi główny czynnik kontrolujący wzrost i owocowanie drzew. W krajach UE oczekiwania społeczeństwa i decyzje polityczne wymuszają przyjęcie odnawialnych sposobów prowadzenia sadów.

Opis:
Nitrogen has greater influence on growth and yield of crop plants than any other essential plant nutrient. Nitrogen is usually the element that is of primary importance in the determination of crop yields and quality. Potato is a sensitive crop to application management of nitrogen and amounts less or more than its requirements. The main objective of this review was to assess the forms, functions and effects in plant growth (in case of potato). Original source of nitrogen is atmosphere it is also found in soil pore spaces as dinitrogen gas and both organic and inorganic forms in the soil. Nitrogen commonly loses through leaching, volatilization, crop removal, denitrification, soil erosion and runoff. Biological fixation and commercial production are main sources of nitrogen and shortage of nitrogen shows different symptoms on different morphological parts and low nutrient content on tissues and grains (tubers) of crops. Generally nitrogen is one of essential nutrient for complete life cycle of plants. It is the first most important nutrient required relatively in large amounts by plants while soils generally contain relatively small amounts of this element.

Opis:
The aim of this study is to demonstrate the positive impact of ponds on water quality in a small stream Čermná. Four sites were sampled regularly every month for one year. Simultaneously, pH and temperature were measured continuously. The concentration of ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen and nitrite nitrogen were determined by subsequent analysis of the water samples. The results were classified in compliance with Government Decree (GD) No. 401/2015 Coll., as amended, and Czech standard ČSN 75 7221. High concentrations of ammonia nitrogen that were detected during the whole period are the result of the discharge of all wastewater from the village of Dolní Čermná to flow Čermná. Although the results showed a positive effect pond Čermenský, during the growing season the concentration of ammonia nitrogen at SP No. 2 placed under the pond increased mainly due to fertilizing pond by manure to increase nutrients for the fish population in the pond.

Opis:
The dependence of the content of various forms of nitrogen and absorption of N by cocksfoot grass on meteorological conditions was established in a field experiment. Correlations between the content of total nitrogen, protein nitrogen, N-NH4, and N-NO3 in sward and roots of cocksfoot grass and some meteorological elements, i.e. maximum temperature, minimum temperature, average daily temperature measured at 5 and 200 cm, air relative humidity, cloud cover, sum of precipitation, sum of evaporation and soil temperature measured at a depth of 2, 5, 10, 20 cm were analyzed. Correlation coefficients between the forms of nitrogen in the plant and the above meteorological elements were calculated, as well as multiple regression equations, multiple correlation coefficients and determination coefficients. No significant relationship between the forms of N (Ntotal, Nprotein, N-NH4, N-NO3) in sward and roots of cocksfoot grass and the course of meteorological conditions was clearly stated. The relationship between the content of N-NH4 in sward and Ntotal and N-NO3 in roots, and certain meteorological elements is relatively small and can be characterized by the value of determination coefficients, i.e. 0.166, 0.106 and 0.151, respectively. According to the statistical analysis, the absorption of nitrogen by cocksfoot grass depends to a relatively small though significant extent (R2=0.249) on certain meteorological elements. However, further research is still recommended.

Opis:
This paper presents the results of a four-year field study on the effect of sulphur fertilization on nitrogen uptake and its utilization efficiency by winter wheat. A two-factor field ex- periment was carried out over 1999–2002 in a randomized blocks design. The first factor was fertilization with sulphur (in the form of sulphate) in doses of 0 and 60 kg ha-1, while the second fac- tor – nitrogen fertilization (in the form of ammonium nitrate) in doses of 0, 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 kg N ha-1. Nitrogen was ap- plied in doses of 30 kg N ha-1, at two-week intervals after the start of growing season. The research showed that sulphur fertiliza- tion increased on average the nitrogen uptake by wheat by 3.5%. The efficiency index of nitrogen fertilization of wheat had higher values after application of fertilizers containing sulphur with a tendency to decrease as the dose N increased. Sulphur fertiliza- tion increased the agronomic efficiency of nitrogen in the range of low doses from 30 to 90 kg N ha-1.

The Dojlidy Ponds, which include Dojlidy water dam, are located within Bialystok city limits in Podlasie area, Poland. The reservoir with a water surface of 34 ha and average depth of 1.75 m was constructed in 1962 as a result of Biala River damming. The researches were conducted in July, October and December 2014 as well as in March 2015. Each time five test samples were collected from spots located along the reservoir. Water samples were tested for the presence of ammonia nitrogen, nitrite nitrogen, organic nitrogen, phosphates and organic phosphorus. The values of nutrient indicators exhibited high variability during the study period. The highest concentration of nitrite and nitrate nitrogen were observed in July, while the lowest in October – nitrite nitrogen, and in December – nitrate nitrogen. Different situation was observed after the analysis of phosphorus forms – the highest concentrations of organic phosphorus and phosphates were observed in December and the lowest in July. Relatively high concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus forms identified in water samples were most likely caused by tributaries, due to the pollution from the reservoir catchment. Technical parameters of the object and location of the reservoir have undoubtedly an impact on the tested parameters contents.

Opis:
Zeolite can effectively regulate the nutrient status in the root zone of crops, thereby increasing nitrogen utilization. However, there has been relatively little research conducted concerning a possible reduction in the frequency of nitrogen application due to the sustained-release properties of zeolite. In this study, 157.5 kg ha-1 nitrogen in the form of urea fertilizer was applied at the same rate, either as a one-time application or as a 3-way split application with and without 10 t ha-1 zeolite. The effects on rice yield, nitrogen uptake, root morphology and soil properties were evaluated in 2014 and 2015. Results showed that zeolite could enhance the biomass, leaf area index and nitrogen uptake. A higher rice grain yield and nitrogen uptake following soil treatment with zeolite could be attributed to a higher soil cation exchange capacity as well as nitrogen and potassium availability in the soil especially during the vegetative period of the rice plant. The addition of nitrogen to the soil as a one-time application or 3-way split application with 10 t ha-1 zeolite significantly increased rice grain yield by 8.5 or 10.7% compared with nitrogen as a one-time application without zeolite. Zeolite addition greatly improved the development of root morphology and activity compared with treatments without zeolite, which contributed to additional plant growth. The addition of nitrogen to the soil with 10 t ha-1 zeolite as a one-time application that can significantly increase nutrient retention is recommended to improve rice grain yield and decrease nitrogen application frequencies in order to lower both labour forces and energy requirements.

Opis:
11Abstract. Maize, one of the most important cereals species grown in Poland, use large quantities of nitrogen, but water defi-cit through the vegetation period might lead to yield reduction and diminish nitrogen uptake. The aim of the study was to char-acterize the productivity of the crop, depending on its nitrogen and water use efficiency. In two locations, in Western and Eastern Poland, eleven-year field experiments with maize grown for grain were conducted. Maize was fertilized with increasing rates of ni-trogen: 50, 100, 150, 200 i 250 kg N ha-1. It was found, that grain yields of maize raised statistically significant up to 8.03 tha-1 under 150 kg Nha-1. Such a dose guaranteed: nitrogen uptake 182 kg Nha-1, nitrogen use efficiency 121%, nitrogen surplus -32 kg Nha-1, water use efficiency 14.5 kgha-1 mm-1, and nitro-gen utilization efficiency 43 kgkg-1. Increasing nitrogen doses over the years was not justified because maize productivity was limited by water availability under higher nitrogen rates.
