    Ancient Jewish Apocalypticism plays a major role within concepts of Biblical Theology. The way to consider apocalypticism within the debate on Biblical Theology requires an “open canon” that takes into account writings and data from outside the Old and New Testament. Both, apocalypticism and Biblical Theology, refer to a certain “structure,” inversion, that is closely related to the apocalyptic concept of “transcendence.” All in all, Käsemann’s famous sentence that “apocalypticism is the mother of all Christian theology” goes too far, but, nevertheless, reminds us on the importance of apocalypticism within the discussion on Biblical Theology.

    Wiara w zmartwychwstanie Jezusa na kartach Nowego Testamentu została wyrażona na wiele różnych sposobów. Pośród nich duże znaczenie mają tzw. formuły wiary, w których prawda o zmartwychwstaniu Chrystusa jest przekazywana jako część chrześcijańskiego wyznania wiary. Autor artykułu podjął się analizy i porównania trzech typów formuł wiary: jednoczłonowej oraz dwóch dwuczłonowych w formie bardziej rozwiniętej (1Kor 15,3-5 i Rz 1,3-4) w perspektywie teologicznofundamentalnej, a więc poszukując wniosków dotyczących wiarygodnościowego wymiaru tych formuł oraz ich roli w przekazie wiary. Przeprowadzona analiza pozwoliła na wskazanie szeregu interesujących danych. Ukazała, że bardzo szybko przekaz wyznania wiary w zmartwychwstanie Jezusa przyjął określoną formę, w której istotna prawda była wyrażana w sposób niezmienny i niezależny, jako swego rodzaju „kanon”. Z drugiej strony powyższa analiza pozwoliła stwierdzić, że już bardzo wcześnie ten przekaz wiary w zmartwychwstanie Chrystusa łączył się z pogłębioną refleksją teologiczną interpretującą w świetle zmartwychwstania poprzedzające je wydarzenia. Wreszcie można też powiedzieć, iż omawiane formuły wiary są świadectwem tego, że dla uczniów Jezusa wiara w Jego zmartwychwstanie stała się „nowym początkiem” w odkryciu Jego tożsamości.
    Faith in Jesus' resurrection is expressed in multiple ways in New Testament. Among them, of special meaning are the so-called faith formulas, in which the truth on the resurrection is passed on as a part of the Christian creed. The author of the present article took on the study and comparison of the faith formulas of three different kinds: one simple monopartite and two more elaborated bi-partite formulas, 1 Cor 15,3-5 and Rom 1,3-4. He pursued his research in the fundamental-theological perspective, searching for the conclusions regarding the reliability of the formulas and their role in the faith transmission. The analysis made by the author demonstrated that faith in the resurrection very quickly took a specific form in which the truth was expressed in unchangeable and independent manner, a sui generis canon. Additionally, the study allows to claim that already at the very early stage the transmission of faith in Christ's resurrection is connected with a deep theological reflection that interprets the preceding events in light of the resurrection. Ultimately, one can state that the analyzed formulas witness to the fact that for Jesus' disciples faith in the resurrection became “the new beginning” in the process of discovering His identity.

    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest próba „teologicznej i duchowej lektury” świętych tekstów dwóch wielkich światowych religii, czyli chrześcijaństwa i buddyzmu. W przypadku buddyzmu, nasze analizy skupią się na wybranych fragmentach kanonicznego zbioru tekstów buddyzmu theravāda, czyli Tipiṭaka. Będą to: Lokāyatika Sutta (SN 12.48), Dutiyaavijjāpahānasutta Sutta (SN 35,80) oraz Avijjā Sutta (SN 45.1). Jeżeli chodzi o chrześcijaństwo to skoncentrujemy się na sześciu nowotestamentalnych perykopach, w który pojawia się rzeczownik agnoia (Dz 3,17; 17,30; Ef 4,18; 1P 1,14) lub agnosia (1Kor 15,34; 1P 2,15). Po przeprowadzeniu badań o charakterze egzegetycznym przejdziemy do analizy teologiczno-komparatywnej. Innymi słowy, staramy się spojrzeć na buddyjską ideę niewiedzy (avijjā) z perspektywy teologii chrześcijańskiej. Stawiamy tezę, że pomiędzy pojęciem niewiedzy w buddyzmie theravāda a literaturze nowotestamentalnej nie ma pełnej symetrii co do ich miejsca w ramach całego systemu filozoficzno-teologicznego danej religii. W buddyzmie niewiedza (avijjā) jest elementem fundamentalnych dla charakterystyki kondycji człowieka. Z kolei w NT ten sposób opisywania nieznajomości jedynego Boga i Chrystusa nie pełni centralnej funkcji, ale ma jedynie charakter drugorzędny i uzupełniający. Gdybyśmy chcieli w chrześcijaństwie znaleźć bardziej adekwatną analogię z ideą niewiedzy w buddyzmie theravāda będzie to doktryna o grzechu pierworodnym.
    The purpose of this article is "theological and spiritual reading" of the sacred texts of two great world religions, namely Christianity and Buddhism. In the case of Buddhism, our analysis will focus on selected fragments of theravāda canonical collection of Buddhist texts, i.e. Tipiṭaka: Lokāyatika Sutta (SN 12.48), Dutiyaavijjāpahānasutta Sutta (SN 35.80) and Avijjā Sutta (SN 45.1). In the case of Christianity, we will focus on six New Testament pericopes, in which the Greek noun ignorance appears: agnoia (Acts 3:17; 17.30; Eph. 4.18; 1 Peter 1:14), agnosia (1 Corinthians 15:34; 1 Peter 2:15). After exegetical research, we will proceed to theological and comparative analysis. In other words, we try to look at the Buddhist idea of ignorance (avijjā) from the perspective of Christian theology. We put forward the thesis that between the notion of ignorance in theravāda Buddhism and New Testament literature there is no full symmetry as to their place within the entire philosophical and theological system of a given religion. In Buddhism, ignorance (avijjā) is a fundamental element and characterizes the condition of a person caught up in death and suffering. On the other hand, in the NT, the way of describing the ignorance of the one God and Christ does not have a central function but is only secondary and complementary to the basic soteriological models. If we wanted to find a more adequate analogy in Christianity with the idea of ignorance in theravāda Buddhism, it would be the doctrine of original sin.

    Opis:
    One if not the main fundamental problem of a Theology of the Old Testament is the coexistence of the historical tradition of Israel, represented by the Pentateuch, and the pre-exilic prophets within the canon because of the prophet’s abrogation of the “Heilsgeschichte” (I). How complex the interaction between the Pentateuch and the prophetic literature in their long lasting history may ever have been, the coexistence of a text like Gen 17 and Jer 31:31-34 points out the problem: is the covenant everlasting or broken, the covenant Israel’s every time presence or its future? (II) The Old Testament for itself gives no answer to this question. So far the Old Testament points beyond itself – in the author’s opinion to Paul’s concept of the dikaiosu,nh tou/ qeou/. This concept combines the proclamation of the fulfillment of the promise of the New Covenant for all people with the confirmation of Israel’s everlasting election (III). Both, the fulfillment of the promise Jer 31:31-34 and Israel’s final salvation, are standing under eschatological reservation. In this perspective the Old Testament is not only fundament of the New Testament, but in New Testament’s hope still alive. (IV)

    Artykuł ma na celu uzasadnienie tezy, iż wplecenia narracyjne w Ewangelii św. Marka są zabiegiem ukazującym dogłębne zaangażowanie teologiczne ewangelisty. Zabieg ten zdefiniować można jako powiązanie ze sobą dwóch linii narracji w układ A1BA2, który poprzez zastosowanie środków, takich jak równoczesność, kontrast, ironia, podobieństwo i tym podobne przekazuje całkowicie nowe znaczenie obu historii. Sześć wpleceń z Ewangelii św. Marka – 3,20–35, 5,21–43, 6,7–31, 11,21–23, 14,1–11 oraz 14,53–72 – łączą różne sceny z konkretnymi zamysłami natury teologicznej i jako takie nie mogą być sprowadzone do kategorii zabiegu literackiego lub redakcyjnego. Wszystkie one krążą dookoła najważniejszych problemów Markowej teologii, takich jak chrystologia, szczególnie w nawiązaniu do cierpienia, wymagania względem prawdziwego ucznia Jezusa, wizja przyszłej wspólnoty kościelnej. W swoich wpleceniach narracyjnych św. Marek wyjawia swoją rozbudowaną, wyrazistą teologię, jak również oryginalność i mistrzostwo w prowadzeniu narracji.
    This paper aims at evidencing the thesis that Markan interpretative intercalations are a narrative structure that manifests profound theological engagement of the evangelist. This device is defined as an entanglement of two storylines in the A1–B–A2 pattern which by using the notions of simultaneity, contrast, irony, similarity, etc. offers a wholly novel meaning of the stories. Six intercalations of the St Mark’s gospel – 3 : 20–35; 5 : 21–43; 6 : 7–31; 11 : 12–23; 14 : 1–11, 53–72 – merge different episodes with distinct theological purposes and as such cannot be reduced to the rank of a literary or redactional device. All of them are concerned with the most essential topics of the Markan theology, such as Christology, especially in relation to suffering, requirements of true discipleship, vision of the future ecclesiastical community. St Mark in his intercalations reveals his elaborated, clear-cut theology, as well as narrative ingenuity and mastery.

    Nauczanie Nowego Testamentu w zakresie teologii stworzenia koncentruje się na wydarzeniu Jezusa Chrystusa. Pisma Nowego Testamentu ukazują „Boga, który ożywia umarłych i powołuje do istnienia to, czego jeszcze nie ma” (Rz 4,17). Przesłanie Nowego Testamentu przedstawia zbawcze działanie Boga w Jezusie Chrystusie, także w kontekście teologii stworzenia. Wzajemna korelacja stworzenia i historii zbawienia jest niezbędna dla zrozumienia przesłania teologii stworzenia, które w rzeczywistości osadza się na zapowiedzi odkupienia dokonanego przez Jezusa Chrystusa. Innymi słowy, refleksja nad stworzeniem wypływa z refleksji nad zbawieniem, które jest nierozerwalnie związane z wydarzeniem Chrystusa. Uznanie Chrystusa za jedyny „początek i koniec” wszystkich rzeczy, kieruje nasze spojrzenie w kierunku obietnicy odkupienia stworzenia od wszelkich przejawów zła, które dotyka je obecnie. Jest jednocześnie zaproszeniem do odrzucenia wszelkiego dualizmu. Nie można zatem „odrywać” od siebie porządku „natury” oraz „łaski i prawdy”, z drugiej zaś strony, nie oznacza to wszystko prostej identyfikacji tych dwóch porządków.
    New Testament teaching on the theology of creation underlines the event of Jesus Christ. The New Testament Scriptures describe "God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not" (Rom 4:17). The New Testament message presents God's saving action in Jesus Christ, also in the context of the theology of creation. The inter-correlation of creation and salvation history is essential to understanding the message of creation theology, which is actually based on the announcement of the redemption accomplished by Jesus Christ. In other words, reflection on creation flows from reflection on salvation, which is inseparable from the Christ event. Recognizing Christ as the only "beginning and end" of all things directs our gaze toward the promise to redeem creation from all dimensions of evil that affects it today. It is at the same time an invitation to reject all duality. Therefore, one cannot "separate" the order of "nature" and "grace and truth" from each other, however, this does not mean a simple identification of these two orders.

    The life and work of New Testament scholar Ernst Lohmeyer (1890-1946) of Breslau (1921-1935) and Greifswald (1935-1946) deserves reconsideration not only due to his innovative contributions to early Jewish and Judaeo-Christian apocalypticism, but also because his entire theology mirrors a renewed understanding of the relationship between Christianity and Judaism. Building on Andreas Köhn's research on Lohmeyer's biography, particularly his unpublished correspondence with his publisher Gustav Ruprecht, the present essay focuses on Lohmeyer's understanding of revelation. Influenced by Franz Rosenzweig's philosophy of religion and Richard Hönigswald's Neo-Kantian epistemology, Lohmeyer develops a comparative concept of revelation that links biblical sources to Christian doctrine and thus steers a middle path between historical analysis (e.g., A. Jülicher) and dogmatic application of biblical texts (e.g., K. Barth). Inspired by this concept, it is argued in the first half (I) of the essay that the Bible serves as a starting-point for the dogmatic discourse by determining the questions theological doctrine is supposed to answer. This leads to the five theses of the second section (II) of the essay: Thesis #1: Instead of teaching a particular trinitarian doctrine, the Bible ra-ther asks the question what the relationship between Jesus and God was like. Thesis #2: The doctrine of the triune God is not an unbiblical invention by the the church, but answers questions which the Bible raises inevitably (cf. I Cor 12:3). Thesis #3: While the New Testament and the mainline trinitarian doctrines agree about the relationship between Jesus and God, their ideas about the canonical status of Scripture disagree. Thesis #4: The writers of the New Testament presuppose that in Jesus God offers unconditional salvation for mankind. The ecclesial traditions behind the trinitarian doctrine share this belief, but try to argue for it rationally. Thesis #5: There are different ways of reading the Bible within the Christian communnity. Besides its liturgical use as a source for what is said and done in worship, the Bible can also function as a starting-point for arguing dogmatically for the truth of the Christian belief by determining the questions this belief has to cope with.
    Artykuł omawia zagadnienie wiary jako centralnego motywu teologii ewangelickiej w kontekście twórczości teologicznej wrocławskiego i gryfickiego nowotestamentowa Ensta Lohmeyera (1890-1946). Na początku ukazano osobę i dzieło Lohmeyera, ukazując go jako wybitnego znawcę Nowego Testamentu, autora wielu komentarzy egzegetycznych do pism Nowego Testamentu, a zwłaszcza listów apostoła Pawła. Druga część omawia dziedzictwo teologiczne Lohmeyera, akcentując znaczenie pojęcia wiary dla całej teologii ewangelickiej. Lohmeyer w swych publikacjach egzegetycznych, wskazywał między innymi na fakt, że wiara trynitarna ma oparcie w Biblii. Główne motywy teologii wrocławskiego biblisty zestawiono w 5 tezach: 1. Biblia nie zawiera nauki trynitranej, lecz pozostawia otwarta kwestię relacji pomiędzy Jezusem a Bogiem. 2. Nauka trynitarna nie jest pozabiblijnym wynalazkiem Kościoła. 3. Pomiędzy Nowym Testamentem a nauka trynitarną zachodzi zjawisko rzeczowej kontynuacji. 4. W Nowym Testamencie, relacja pomiędzy Jezusem a Bogiem jest podstawą czynu zbawczego, podczas gdy nauka trynitarna jest wynikiem logicznego następstwa i argumentacji o charakterze teologicznym. 5. Różne formy użycia Biblii, także w liturgii, prowadzą do stwierdzenia, że Biblia stanowi podstawę wszelkiej wiary chrześcijańskiej.

    Przedmiotem badań tego artykułu jest analiza koncepcji kerygmatu pierwotnego Kościoła w ujęciu Rudolfa Bultmanna oraz określenie czym jest kerygmat w świetle tekstów Nowego Testamentu poprzez wykorzystanie metody historyczno-krytycznej oraz analizy lingwistycznej i semantycznej gr. rzeczownika τὸ κήρυγμα. Zastosowano metodę krytycznej analizy pism Bultmanna w zestawieniu z listami Pawłowymi.Cel ten został zrealizowany w dwóch częściach artykułu. W części pierwszej zostało zaprezentowane główne założenia wczesnochrześcijańskiego kerygmatu przez Bultmanna na podstawie monografii Theologie des Neuen Testaments (19808). Opisano kwestię zbawienia, jakie głosił Jezus, kim On był w ujęciu Bultmanna, zostało poruszone zagadnienie „odhistoryzowania” Boga i człowieka oraz mesjańską świadomość Jezusa. Dla niemieckiego biblisty nie jest ważny Jezus historyczny, ale Chrystus wiary, który był głoszony w powielkanocnym kerygmacie pierwotnej chrześcijańskiej gminy. W części drugiej artykułu przeprowadzono własną interpretację terminu kerygmat, szczególnie na podstawie kluczowych tekstów Pawła Apostoła (Rz 16,25; 1 Kor 1,21; 2,4; 15,14; Tt 1,3). Kerygmat jest głoszeniem Jezusa Chrystusa, ukrzyżowanego i zmartwychwstałego. Jezus jest obiecanym Mesjaszem, zapowiadanym przez proroków Starego Testamentu, a nie tylko powielkanocną interpretacją Chrystusa wiary i kerygmatu, o której wspomina Bultmann. Ciągłość głoszonego kerygmatu Jezusa i o Jezusie jest widoczna w głoszonej Ewangelii przez Pawła oraz pozostałych apostołów.Przeprowadzone badania prowadzą do następującego teologicznego wniosku: nie można rozdzielać „Chrystusa wiary” i kerygmatu od „Jezusa historii”, podobnie jak nie można oddzielić zmartwychwstania Jezusa Chrystusa od Jego męki i śmierci. Głoszone Słowo Ewangelii jest kerygmatem samego Chrystusa, potwierdzając tym samym ciągłość „Jezusa historii” i „Chrystusa wiary”.
    The paper analyses the concept of kerygma in the early Church in the interpretation of Rudolf Bultmann and attempts to define the kerygma in the light of New Testament texts using the historical-critical method as well as the linguistic and semantic analysis of the Greek noun τὸ κήρυγμα. Bultmann’s writings have been analysed using the method of critical analysis in comparison to Paul’s letters.For this purpose, the paper has been divided into two parts. In the first part, main tenets of the early Christian kerygma according to Bultmann, on the basis of the Theologie des Neuen Testaments monography 19808) have been presented. The author also discusses the issue of salvation in Jesus’s teachings, the identity of Jesus as understood by Bultmann, addresses the idea of “dehistorification” of God and man as well Christ’s messianic cognisance. For the German Biblicist, it is the Christ of Faith proclaimed in the post-Easter kerygma of the early Christian community that matters, as opposed to the Jesus of History.In the second part, the author’s own interpretation of the term kerygma based on key writings of Apostle Paul (Rom. 16:25; 1 Cor 1:21; 2:4; 15:14; Tit. 1:3) has been shown. Kerygma is the proclamation of Jesus Christ, who was crucified and resurrected. Jesus is the promised Messiah foretold by Old Testament prophets rather than the post-Easter interpretation of the Christ of Faith and the kerygma as understood by Bultmann. Continuity of the proclaimed kerygma of Jesus and about Jesus can be seen through the Gospel taught by Paul and other apostles.The studies have led to the following theological conclusion: the “Christ of Faith” and the kerygma cannot be separated from “the Jesus of History” just like the resurrection of Jesus Christ cannot be separated from his passion and death. The word of the Gospel proclaimed is the kerygma of Christ himself, thus confirming the continuity of “the Jesus of History” and “the Christ of Faith”
