    Opis:
    In this study, we have chosen to use a new technique of reinforcement with composite materials, namely the near surface mounted technique (NSM). The NSM technique consists in inserting strips of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminate into slits made beforehand at the level of the concrete coating of the elements to be reinforced. A numerical investigation was conducted on rectangular reinforced concrete beams reinforced with NSM-CFRP using the ATENA finite element code. A parametric study was also carried out in this research. The numerical results were compared with the experimental results of the beams tested by other researchers with the same reinforcement configurations. Overall, numerical behavior laws are rather well-suited to those obtained experimentally and the parametric study has also yielded interesting results.
    W badaniach przedstawionych w pracy zastosowano nową technikę zbrojenia materiałami kompozytowymi poprzez wklejanie ich w otulinę betonową (NSM near surface mounted). Technika NSM polega na wprowadzeniu pasków laminatu z polimeru wzmocnionego włóknami węglowymi (CFRP) do szczelin wykonanych wcześniej na poziomie powłoki betonowej wzmacnianych elementów. Przeprowadzono badania numeryczne na prostokątnych belkach żelbetowych wzmocnionych NSM-CFRP z wykorzystaniem kodu elementów skończonych ATENA. W badaniach tych przeprowadzono również badanie parametryczne. Wyniki numeryczne porównano z wynikami eksperymentalnymi belek testowanych przez innych badaczy o tych samych konfiguracjach zbrojenia. Wyniki numeryczne są zgodne z eksperymentalnymi, a studium parametryczne prowadzi to ciekawych wniosków.

    In this paper I present the Natural Semantic Metalanguage approach (Goddard & Wierzbicka 2014; Goddard 2018; Wierzbicka 1996, 2013), arguing that it can be perceived as a terminological system, a terminology sui generis. NSM is a decompositional approach to semantics, based on the assumption that there are 65 basic concepts, known as semantic primes, and that all other concepts can be paraphrased in terms of elements taken from this set of 65. These elements are said to exist in all human languages – as words, phrases or morphemes – and they cannot be reduced any further. The system has been tested on more than 30 different languages so far and is considered one of the most comprehensive approaches to cross-linguistic semantics today. I want to shed light on the formal structure of NSM, and explain its most important theoretical concepts, such as semantic primes and molecules, reductive paraphrase and semantic template, in order to demonstrate its practical value across many domains. As an example of how NSM is used in practice, I will look at the meaning of one concrete and one abstract noun (beach and comfort, respectively).

    W konstrukcjach wzmacnianych kompozytami CFRP największy nacisk w analizie nośności kładzie się na zjawisko związane ze stycznymi naprężeniami przyczepności. W artykule przedstawiono analizę wyników badań elementów wzmacnianych zarówno materiałami CFRP klejonymi do powierzchni, jak i wklejanymi w otulinę. Wykazano, że proponowane modele obliczeniowe są niepoprawne. Zupełne pomijanie klasycznego zjawiska ścinania wydaje się być największym błędem dotychczasowych analiz.
    In reinforced concrete structures strengthened with CFRP materials, the greatest attentions in the analysis are payed to shear bond stress. The article presents the study of the test results of elements strengthened with CFRP materials glued both to the surface and into cut slits. It has been shown that the proposed calculation models are incorrect. Completely ignoring the classical shear phenomenon seems to be the biggest mistake of the previous analyzes.

    Opis:
    This paper explores the Danish keyword vold ‘violence, abuse’ and its associated ethnosyntax. Calling into attention (i) the differences and similarities of violence-related concepts in ethnolinguistic communities, and (ii) the key role played by ethnosyntax in the elaboration of violence, vold, and similar concepts, the paper aims to open a new ethnolinguistic research agenda for the study of negative sociality constructs and the positive value system hidden in such concepts. The Danish ethnosyntax of vold ‘violence, abuse’ hidden in compound morphology is scrutinised. Focusing on the compounds hustruvold ‘wife vold’ and politivold ‘police vold’, the paper explores the hidden conceptual syntax embedded in such coinages. Exploring more recent constructs, such as forældrevold ‘parent vold’, it is argued that Danish ethnosyntax embodies a view of the world in which traditional authority figures are coded as aggressors: men, police, parents, whereas women, citizens and children are coded as victims.
    Artykuł dotyczy semantyki i etnoskładni duńskiego słowa vold ‘przemoc’, kluczowego dla duńskiej kultury. Biorąc pod uwagę (i) podobieństwa i różnice między słowami oznaczającymi ‘przemoc’ w różnych społecznościach etnolingwistycznych oraz (ii) kluczową rolę etnoskładni w opisie takich konceptów, jak angielskie VIOLENCE, duńskie VOLD itd., artykuł otwiera nową perspektywę badań nad konceptami wyrażającymi negatywne zjawiska społeczne i związanymi z nimi pozytywnymi systemami wartości. W artykule bada się etnoskładnię, składnię „pojęciową” duńskiego vold, zawartą w strukturze morfologicznej złożeń takich jak hustruvold ‘vold (w stosunku do) żony’ czy politivold ‘vold policyjna’. Analiza nowszych tworów, np. forældrevold ‘vold rodzicielska’, pokazuje, iż duńska etnoskładnia zawiera w sobie obraz świata, w którym tradycyjne autorytety, takie jak mężczyźni, policja, czy rodzice, postrzegani są jako agresorzy, natomiast kobiety, obywatele i dzieci kodowane są jako ofiary przemocy (w sensie vold).

    This article takes up a theme addressed many years ago by Andrzej Bogusławski: a semantic and cultural comparison of the Polish and German terms of address “Pan” and “Herr.” Focussing on these two words, the paper seeks to demonstrate (as in a number of earlier studies, e.g. Wierzbicka 2015, Forthcoming) that despite their apparent insignificance, generic titles used daily across Europe can reveal complex and intricate webs of cultural assumptions and attitudes and provide keys to the inmost recesses of the speakers’ cultural and social world. At the same time, the paper argues that in order to use these keys effectively, we need some basic locksmith skills and it tries to show that the NSM approach to semantics and pragmatics can help us develop such skills. The explications posited here possess, it is argued, predictive and explanatory power which is beyond the reach of traditional analyses operating with technical labels such as “formal,” ”polite,” “respectful,” “egalitarian” and so on. The paper has implications for language teaching and cross-cultural communication and education in Europe and beyond.
