Opis:
Ten new species of myxosporeans found from marine fishes were collected from coastal waters off the Yellow Sea in China: Sphaerospora sebasta sp. n. coelozoic in the gall bladder of Sebastes schlegeli, Ceratomyxa hemitriptera sp. n. coelozoic in the gall bladder of Hemitripterus villosus, Ceratomyxa kareus sp. n. coelozoic in the gall bladders of Kareius bicoloratus and Zebrias zebra, Ceratomyxa lateolabrax sp. n. and Ceratomyxa lomi sp. n. coelozoic in the gall bladder of Lateolabrax japonicus, Ceratomyxa qingdaoensis sp. n. coelozoic in the urinary bladder of Argyrosomus argentatus, Ceratomyxa saurida sp. n. coelozoic in the gall bladder of Saurida elongata, Ceratomyxa sebastisca sp. n. coelozoic in the gall bladder of Sebastiscus sp., Ceratomyxa simplex sp. n. coelozoic in the gall bladder of Chirolophis japonicus and Ceratomyxa triacantha sp. n. coelozoic in the gall bladder and bile of Triacanthus brevirostris. All those forms were described in a book chapter cited as “known forms” several years ago, but have never been formally established as new taxa which are thus officially reported here. The present contribution only provided the morphology and geographic distribution of these organisms.

Opis:
Ortholinea africanus Abdel-Ghaffar et al., 2008 is re-described using light and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to reveal the external ornamentation of the spores. Present spores matched the original description in morphology but were larger in all dimensions. They measured 9.6 ± 0.8 (8.1–10.9) μm in length, 9.5 ± 0.6 (8.8–10.9) μm in width and 8.9 ± 0.4 (8.6–9.1) μm in thickness. Polar capsules were 3.9 ± 0.3 (3.0–4.3) μm in length with polar filaments turned 4–6 turns. The pattern of polar filament coils was different in each of the polar capsules. In the same spore, one capsule contained oblique filament turns to the longitudinal axis of the capsule, while the other capsule contained perpendicular turns. SEM revealed completely different shell ridge patterns than those described by light microscopy in the original description. This emphasizes the necessity of SEM in the reliable description of any myxosporean genera with external shell ornamentation like Ortholinea and Chloromyxum. The present species is considered the first (purely) freshwater Ortholinea described from a proper freshwater host. Three different methods of isolation and preparation of coelozoic spores for SEM were evaluated. The best combination was using a syringe filter holder with a membrane filter of 5 μm pore nucleopore filters.

Opis:
During a survey of myxosporean parasites infecting freshwater fishes from the River Nile at Giza Governorates, Egypt between March and September 2016, nine out of 30 specimens of the Nile carp Labeo niloticus (Cyprinidae) were found to be naturally infected with Myxobolus naffari (Myxobolidae). Small macroscopic plasmodia appeared embedded in the host gill tissue accompanied with fusion of the gill epithelia, and atrophy was observed at the site of infection. The host reaction was manifested by the encapsulation of the plasmodia with a thick layer of connective tissue. The plasmodia appeared as white, elongated rods between gill filaments with an intensity ranging from three to eight cysts/fish. The average dimensions of plasmodia were 1.2–2.0 (1.8 ± 0.2) mm long × 0.4–0.7 (0.6 ± 0.2) mm wide. The spores were oval, reaching 9.56–11.2 (10.2 ± 0.2) μm long and 6.5–7.7 (7.0 ± 0.4) μm wide with two equal-sized polar capsules regularly arranged at the anterior pole of each spore. They were 4.51–5.5 (5.1 ± 0.4) μm in length and 1.5–2.0 (1.7 ± 0.2) μm in width. Histological, semi-thin sections were taken through parasite plasmodia and transmission electron microscopic examination of ultrathin sections was performed to describe the developmental stages of the recorded parasite within the host fish.

Opis:
Introduction. The european eel is one of the major fishing objects of the Russian fishery zone of the Vistula Lagoon (Baltic Sea). This is the reason that its parasite fauna was studied within 1998-2005. Material and methods. Totally 142 individuals of 35-81 cm in length were examined. The parasites collected from various organs were fixed and processed according to commonly accepted methods. Results. Twenty two parasite species representing the following higher taxa: Coccidia (2), Oligohymenophorea (2), Myxosporea (5), Monogenea (1), Cestoda (2), Trematoda (2), Nematoda (4), Acanthocephala (2), and Crustacea (2) were recovered. The following main features of the eel parasitofauna were determined: high specificity, predominance of the parasites with simple life cycle, the presence of three invader species (Anguillicola crassus, Pseudodactylogyrus anguillae, and Paratenuisentis ambiguus). The latter species was found in the Vistula Lagoon for the first time

Opis:
During the years 2004–2006 the parasitological autopsies of three species of fish: roach Rutilus rutilus (L.), bream Abramis brama (L.) and perch Perca fluviatilis L. from three lakes situated in warmińsko-mazurskie voivodeship were done. The aim of this study was comparable analysis of Metazoan parasite communities which occur in roach, bream and perch in three lakes of river Łyna watershed. These lakes differ by physical (size, depth, eutrophication degree) and biological factors (composition of free-living organisms). The studies showed some relationships between size of fishes and the frequency of some parasite species as well as some relationships in seasonal dynamic of occurrence and maturation of ecto- and endoparasites, which were connected with temperature – main factor regulating processes of fish colonization by parasites and future development of parasites. In quantitative and qualitative analysis of fish parasite community structure the following indexes were used: species richness (S), species diversity of Shannon-Weaver (H’), species diversity of Brillouin (HB) and index of domination Berger-Parker (D). Studies showed that the main indexes of communities structure which indicating on occurring differences between lakes were indexes of diversity component communities and infracommunities and also index of dominance. Communities of monogeneans (roaches and breams) can be use as indicators of water environment. Apart from communities of gills parasites also alfamesotrophic lake Łańskie and eutrophic Mielno lake were differenced by eyes parasites and allogenic community of bream parasites and by intestinal parasites of roach.
