    Opis:
    The protagonist of the paper is Władysław Klimczak, a long-standing President of the Cracow Photographic Association as well as the founder and the first director of Cracow’s Museum of History of Photography. The portrait of W. Klimczak is outlined: a controversial individual of a clear-cut personality, eccentric, dynamic and hard-working, he was nevertheless extremely professional in his activities. The documentary exhibitions as well as the ‘Venus’ controversial ones mounted and curated by Władysław Klimczak are discussed.
    Artykuł poświęcony jest Władysławowi Klimczakowi, wieloletniemu prezesowi Krakowskiego Towarzystwa Fotograficznego oraz założycielowi i pierwszemu dyrektorowi Muzeum Historii Fotografii w Krakowie. Autorka kreśli portret W. Klimczaka – postaci o wyrazistej osobowości, człowieka kontrowersyjnego, ekscentrycznego, dynamicznego i pracowitego, zawsze niezależnego w swoich bardzo profesjonalnych działaniach. Przypomina organizowane i kuratorowane przez Władysława Klimczaka wystawy o charakterze dokumentalnym i kontrowersyjne ekspozycje „Venus”.

    Opis:
    The Zofia and Jan Włodek Foundation in Cracow takes care e.g., of the photographic legacy of its patron Prof. Jan Zdzisław Włodek. Its most valuable element is a collections of 240 coloured positives on Autochrome plates manufactured by Lumière and Agfa- -Farbenplatten; it is one of the largest sets of photographs of this type taken by a single author which has been preserved in Poland. In 2020–2021, thanks to the financing from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the collection underwent conservation and was digitized, following which it was made available to broad groups of viewers on the www.szukajwarchiwach.pl and www. zbioryspoleczne.pl portals. The unique photo technology used for their production constituted a real challenge in the set’s conservation and digitizing; moreover, attempts were made at an experimental digitizing of the selected autochromes with the use of directed bright-field. In order to promote the knowledge of the set, its author, and the works he conducted, videos and exhibitions were prepared, The whole project was quite challenging to a relatively small NGO. The key to its success was the cooperation of experts who proved to be flexible and creative in their approach to this particular task and peculiar conditions in which the project was implemented.

    Opis:
    Due to the development of social media, posting one's photos is becoming increasingly popular; they often take the form of, so called, ‘selfie’. The phenomenon of photographing oneself has also occurred in cultural institutions, including museums. The museums are implementing various strategies of reacting to people taking pictures of themselves with exhibits at the background. The article presents an analysis of these reactions, and, based on that, various ways of defining the functions and role of the contemporary museum. The author also attempts to provide an answer to the following question: is posting photographs by visitors an element of creating their own image (‘the Culture of Narcissism’), or is it rather a form of interaction with heritage, of a dialogue with the presented contents (‘remix culture’)?
