Opis:
Decision support and trading systems for the forex market mostly derive a single signal for the decision-maker. This is so, because instruments are evaluated based on a single criterion, which creates a ranking of instruments, from which the best one is selected. At the same time, one can observe a lack of tools al- lowing one to derive the set of non-dominated trading opportunities considered in the multicriteria space. This article focuses on multicriteria analysis, in which several different market indicators describe a single instrument on the forex market (currency pair), leading to definite criteria. Thus, for a given time horizon, we consider a set of currency pairs described by a group of technical market indicators in every trading session. However, instead of deriving crisp information, based on the buy-no buy binary logic, we use concepts from the fuzzy sets theory, in which each criterion for a single variant takes a value from the h0, 1i interval. We select only the non-dominated variants from such a set, which will be used as elements of the portfolio of currency pairs on the forex market. We test our idea on the real-world data covering more than ten years, several technical market indicators, and over twenty different currency pairs. The preliminary results show that the proposed idea can be treated as a promising concept for deriving a portfolio of currency pairs instead of focusing on only a single currency pair.

Opis:
Cognitive radio networks (CRNs) allow their users to achieve adequate QoS while communicating. The major concern related to CRN is linked to guaranteeing free channel selection to secondary users (SUs) in order to maintain the network’s throughput. Many techniques have been designed in the literature for channel selection in CRNs, but the throughput of the network has not been enhanced yet. Here, an efficient technique, known as multicriteria oppositional-learnt dragonfly resourceoptimized QoS-driven channel selection (MOLDRO-QoSDCS) is proposed to select the best available channel with the expected QoS metrics. The MOLDRO-QoSDCS technique is designed to improve energy efficiency and throughput, simultaneously reducing the sensing time. By relying on oppositional-learnt multiobjective dragonfly optimization, the optimal available channel is selected depending on signal-to-noise ratio, power consumption, and spectrum utilization. In the optimization process, the population of the available channels is initialized. Then, using multiple criteria, the fitness function is determined and the available channel with the best resource availability is selected. Using the selected optimal channel, data transmission is effectively performed to increase the network’s throughput and to minimize the sensing time. The simulated outputs obtained with the use of Matlab are compared with conventional algorithms in order to verify the performance of the solution. The MOLDRO-QoSDCS technique performs better than other methods in terms of throughput, sensing time, and energy efficiency.

Opis:
Research background: Individual car transport significantly burdens the environment, especially in the centres of large cities. There is pollution, traffic jams and an increase in overall noise. In the area of passenger car transport, legislation is being significantly tightened. Therefore, there are also increasing demands on public transport operators in the Czech Republic. Previously, most of the fleet consisted of diesel vehicles. These have been gradually replaced by drives that are significantly more environmentally friendly, such as the Compressed natural gas drive. The requirements defined in relation to the reduction of vehicle emissions are increasingly stricter. A number of cities, not only within the European Union, are addressing significant issues concerning the future of public transport. Purpose of the article: The main objective of the article is to demonstrate an in-depth analysis of the operation of transport vehicles in the Statutory City of Ostrava, both from the cost and environmental point of view. The comparison of transport means using CNG, electric and diesel propulsion is made. Specific factors such as the route profile or the environmental impact of the mode of transport are also taken into account. The extent of the data processed and the multidimensional nature of the assessment offer a unique analysis of the problem. The article provides an exact view of the advantages and disadvantages of operating specific means of transport. Everything is based on data on transport operations in the city of Ostrava (the Czech Republic, EU). Methods: The comprehensive evaluation is based on the application of methods from the field of financial accounting, evaluation of measured data from the operation of transport means and, last but not least, on the analysis of empirical data from the given area. The analysed data set is unique due to the time period, as is the multi-criteria evaluation methodology.  Findings & value added: The analysis performed demonstrated the economic viability of operating CNG vehicles. The main added value of the article is the unique multi-criteria evaluation procedure for the vehicles. The paper shows the evaluation of a complex decision problem in the transport field in the form of a case study implemented in the city of Ostrava. The evaluation results then consider both cost and environmental factors, which can be described as a comprehensive and highly innovative approach. The defined assessment can then be applied to other European and world metropolises.

This paper addresses an approach for solving multicriteria portfolio investment problem. The original Markowitz mean-variance model is formulated as a problem of bi-objective optimization with linear and quadratic objective functions. In the current work, this model is extended by introducing a new objective, reflecting asset properties that are useful for the portfolio allocation process. A method based on parameterized achievement scalarizing function is applied to produce Pareto optimal portfolios. A mathematical programming formulation that allows for solving the problem with conventional optimization methods is presented. In addition, a method of reflecting the decision maker’s preferences by means of changing the weights in the achievement scalarizing functions is introduced. A decision making process is simulated for the three-objective portfolio optimization problem.

Opis:
Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is considered as a realistic substation of marine fuel in 21 century. Solution of building new engines or converting diesels into gas fueled propulsion meets the stringent international emission regulations. For HFO (heavy fuel oil) or MDO (marine diesel oil) propelled vessels, operation of bunkering is relatively wide known and simple. Its due to the fact that fuel itself doesn’t require high standards of handling. Where for LNG as a fuel its very demanding process – it evaporates and requires either consuming by bunker vessel or reliquefication. Distribution of such bunker is becoming multidimensional problem with time and space constrains. The objective of the article is to review the methods of optimization using genetic algorithms for a model of LNG distribution. In particular, there will be considered methods of solving problems with many boundry criteria whose objective functions are contradictory. Methods used for solving the majority of problems are can prevent the simultaneous optimization of the examined objectives, e.g. the minimisation of costs or distance covered, or the maximisation of profits or efficiency etc. Here the standard genetic algorithms are suitable for solving multi-criteria problems by using functions producing a diversity of results depending on the adopted approach.

Opis:
In this study, a macroeconomic model and the multicriteria approach are used to analyze the impact of the enforced greenhouse gas (GHG) emission limits on economic development and future consumption in a small open economy country, like Poland. The following questions are considered: how economic transformation, connected with adjustment of the national economy to the policy limiting GHG emission would proceed? what may be the consequences of the enforced emission limits for the economic development and future consumption? The model answers these questions by presenting time trajectories, describing the evolution of three sectors, which influence GHG emission, namely those producing intermediary inputs, consumer goods, and investment goods. The sectors interact via markets of the relevant goods. The model takes into account the inertial behavior of the large-scale dynamic system, as well as social and political resistance to changes. It also indicates technological changes in the form of time-varying shares of two technologies, namely the GHG emission intensive and the GHG emission avoiding ones. Two competing objectives are considered in the multicriteria analysis, i.e. maximization of consumption and minimization of GHG emission. The costs of pursuing the GHG limiting policy are assessed in terms of lost consumption. The multicriteria analysis is performed with the use of the derived representation of the Pareto optimal outcomes. Computational results are presented for the case of Poland. They show three phases in a transition period, early growth on the basis of existing assets in the initial years, a depression phase, where technological changes mainly occur, and a period of renewed growth. They are followed by a steady development under new emission conditions.

Opis:
A bicriterion bus routing (BBR) problem is described and analysed. The objective is to find a route from the start stop to the final stop minimizing the time and the cost of travel simultaneously. Additionally, the time of starting travel at the start stop is given. The BBR problem can be resolved using methods of graph theory. It comes down to resolving a bicriterion shortest path (BSP) problem in a multigraph with variable weights. In the paper, differences between the problem with constant weights and that with variable weights are described and analysed, with particular emphasis on properties satisfied only for the problem with variable weights and the description of the influence of dominated partial solutions on non-dominated final solutions. This paper proposes methods of estimation a dominated partial solution for the possibility of obtaining a non-dominated final solution from it. An algorithm for solving the BBR problem implementing these estimation methods is proposed and the results of experimental tests are presented.

Taking into account the expansion of infrastructure and the growth of hospitals, as well as the increase in the influx of patients, the manual preparation of therapies, in particular, regenerative therapy, becomes ineffective and causes frequent dissatisfaction and complaining of patients. Taking into account the large number of factors forming the schedule, the task of multicriteria optimization is presented in accordance with strict restrictions and immediate wishes of patients. This task can be decomposed into several subtasks that require development of: a reference schedule that would satisfy the strict restrictions imposed by the domain; a method for evaluating the reference schedule and intermediate schedules; the method of optimization of the reference scheduling in order to improve the estimated results. In the course of solving these problems it is necessary: to carry out the construction of relevant criteria for evaluating the quality of the decomposition and turn their qualitative values into quantitative forms; carry out the transition from multi-criteria optimization to one-criterion by minimizing the set of evaluation criteria in the scalar value that can be used in the process of optimization; to avoid local optimum and reach the global optimal solution. The article is devised a method of multicriteria assessment and optimization of medical institutions’ schedules, based on the use of automatic theory to construct the reference scheduling of the functioning of the clinic, the application of methods and means of fuzzy logic and evolutionary algorithms. Using an automated system of construction, multicriteria assessment and optimization of schedules of medical institutions can reduce the amount of manual work, as well as increase the level of satisfaction of patients with the quality of regenerative therapy.

Opis:
The goal of this paper was to optimize the building envelope and technical equipment in the building through the mitigation of the global cost value, and then to evaluate the influence of the chosen assumptions on the primary energy index. The analyses carried out using global cost method allow for finding the cost optimal solution but only for the some range of primary energy index variability. In order to find the optimal solutions it was proposed to use the multi-criteria optimisation, assuming the following as basic criteria: a global cost value and investment prices increase (economic criteria), a primary energy index (energy-related criterion), an emission of carbon dioxide (environmental criterion). The analysed case study refers to the technical solutions for the residential buildings with the usable energy demand at the level of 40 and 15 kWh/m2/a. The presented method might be applied to different types of buildings: those being designed and those being the subject of the thermo-modernisation. The results demonstrate that the proposed model allows for classification of the alternative technical solutions regarding the designing process and the building’s technical equipment. The carried out analyses indicate the economic possibility to achieve the low energy building standard and show the need to concentrate the activities related to the installation technology and used energy source.
