The article presents partial results of qualitative research conducted among 83 respondents (28 teachers and 55 students) from four European countries, using tablets to work at school. The aim of the research was to recognize the scope of application of mobile technologies by teachers and students and also their opinions on the usefulness of these technologies as a support in the process of education. An image of teachers and students, who realistically assess the advantages and disadvantages of tablets, and who redefine their role in the educational process, emerges from the individual interviews and focus conversations.

The article presents partial results of research conducted among forty eight teachers from four European countries, using tablets to work with students with special educational needs (SENs). The aim of the research was to recognize the scope of application of mobile technologies by teachers and also their opinions on the usefulness of these technologies as support in the process of education and rehabilitation. Despite a small group of respondents, the method of a survey (questionnaire) was used due to the ease of obtaining a precise translation of the questionnaire and the results of the research. The image of teachers emerging from the research is that of pedagogues who realistically assess the advantages and disadvantages of tablets as assisting and training technologies and who try to strengthen the educational opportunities of their pupils without systemic support.

The article presents the results of international research on the use of mobile technologies as a support in the process of educating students with special educational needs. A team of researchers from five European countries conducted a survey among teachers using tablets while working with students with disabilities. Answers from the respondents reveal the image of educators who seek on their own, without any systemic support, opportunities to strengthen the educational opportunities of their pupils. The research results indicate that systemic organizational, methodical and financial solutions should be developed to facilitate the introduction of mobile devices for special and inclusive education.

Zasadniczym celem niniejszego opracowania jest identyfikacja barier na podstawie wyników badań własnych autora w zakresie wykorzystania technologii mobilnych z perspektywy użytkowników indywidualnych. Zaprezentowano krótką charakterystykę rynku technologii mobilnych oraz operatorów, z usług których badani najczęściej korzystają. Zasadniczą część opracowania poświęcono barierom występującym w procesie zastosowania tychże technologii. Uzyskane wyniki zostały podsumowane i omówione.
The main goal of this paper is to identify the barriers of mobile technology application from the perspective of individual users on the basis of author’s own research. The study shows a short characterization of the mobile technology market, and operators of the services of which examined most often are using. An essential part of this article was devoted to barriers applying these technologies is coming across which. The gained results were summarized and discussed.

With the recent shift towards mobile computing, new challenges for biometric authentication appear on the horizon. This paper provides a comprehensive study of cross-spectral iris recognition in a scenario, in which high quality color images obtained with a mobile phone are used against enrollment images collected in typical, near-infrared setups. Grayscale conversion of the color images that employs selective RGB channel choice depending on the iris coloration is shown to improve the recognition accuracy for some combinations of eye colors and matching software, when compared to using the red channel only, with equal error rates driven down to as low as 2%. The authors are not aware of any other paper focusing on cross-spectral iris recognition is a scenario with near-infrared enrollment using a professional iris recognition setup and then a mobile-based verication employing color images.

Artykuł przedstawia rolę uwarunkowań zasobowych - dostępności infrastruktury technicznej i pasma elektromagnetycznego - w nawiązywaniu współpracy między operatorami telekomunikacji mobilnej w Polsce. Po skrótowym przeglądzie literatury przedmiotu zarysowano rozwój telefonii mobilnej w ujęciu historycznym. Opierając się na metodach studium przypadku i analizy dokumentów zastanych przeprowadzono badania form współpracy międzyorganizacyjnej, wśród których wskazano wymianę i udostępnianie infrastruktury technicznej, realizowanie wspólnych projektów infrastrukturalnych, tworzenie aliansów i grup kapitałowych oraz współpracę z operatorami wirtualnymi. W podsumowaniu wskazano na znaczenie współpracy międzyorganizacyjnej w sektorach nowoczesnych technologii oraz podkreślono zmienność i dynamikę wzajemnych relacji.
The article presents the role of resource conditions - the availability of technical infrastructure and electromagnetic bandwidth - in establishing cooperation among mobile telecommunication operators in Poland. After a brief literature review the development of mobile telephony in historical perspective was outlined. Based on the case study and desk research methods the inter-organizational forms of cooperation were studied. There were indicated the following forms: the exchange and sharing of technical infrastructure, implementation of joint infrastructure projects, creating alliances and groups of companies and cooperation with virtual operators. In summary the importance of inter-organizational relation in high-tech industry was indicated and the variability and dynamics of the relationship were highlighted.

Reaction time to a light or sound stimulus is an important element of life. Constructing and testing a measuring device for collecting the response time stimulus focused on two study groups. The results which were obtained showed that people who specialize in sports have 0.15 seconds, better time than people who do not professionally deal with sport. Be tested for both groups with additional verification (stopwatch) confirmed the measuring apparatus along with the application.
Czas reakcji na bodziec świetlny lub dźwiękowy stanowi ważny element życia. Konstruując oraz testując urządzenie pomiarowe do zbierania czasu odpowiedzi na bodziec, skupiono się na dwóch grupach badanych. Wyniki jakie zostały uzyskane wykazały, że osoby, które specjalizują się w dyscyplinach sportowych mają 0,15 s lepszy czas od osób, które nie zajmują się zawodowo sportem. Wykonanie testu na obu grupach wraz z dodatkową weryfikacją (stoper), potwierdziło działania urządzenia pomiarowego wraz z aplikacją.

The aim of this text is to present some selected excerpts of video-ethnographic research dedicated to “wireless adolescence”: socialization and learning in the family environment. However, the core of the text is not to present (“report”) the results of research, but rather to respond to the ways of constructing mobile technologies (and designing their use) by adults and children in the context of home socialization and in the cultural technological conduct of constructing gender (understood as collection of positions, points of view and activities accepted/undertaken in relation to mobile technologies). For the purpose of the research project, constructivist approaches of gender and technology (understood non-deterministically as constructed tangibility, built into the cultural semantic field and social powers) were assumed. One of the most important results of the research is the highlighting of the role of women as significant others who open the field of family socialization in respect of modern technologies (initiating relations between children and technology) and the functioning of the “nature” discourse to which individuals refer in order to limit the access of children to digital culture.
Celem proponowanego tekstu jest prezentacja wybranych fragmentów badań wideoetnograficznych poświęconych „bezprzewodowemu dorastaniu”: socjalizacji i uczeniu się w środowiskach domowym. Istotą tekstu nie jest jednak omówienie („raportowanie”) wyników badań, ale raczej odniesienie się do sposobów konstruowania technologii mobilnych (i projektowania jej użyć) przez dorosłych i dzieci w kontekście socjalizacji domowej oraz kulturowo-technologicznych praktyk konstruowania gender (rozumianych jako zbiór pozycji, punktów widzenia i aktywności przyjmowanych/ podejmowanych w relacjach z mobilnymi technologiami). Na użytek projektu badawczego przyjęte zostały konstruktywistyczne ujęcia gender i technologii (ujmowanej niedeterministycznie, jako konstruowanej materialności, wpisanej w kulturowe pole znaczeń i społecznych sił). Jednym z najistotniejszych rezultatów badań jest podkreślenie roli kobiet jako znaczących innych otwierających rodzinne pole socjalizacyjne dla nowoczesnych technologii (inicjujących relacje dzieci – technologia) oraz działanie dyskursu „natury”, do którego odwołują się badani i badane w celu limitowania dostępu dzieci do kultury cyfrowej.

In this article I present some of the most popular mobile museum applications – their content, accessibility, and finally the possibility to use them in the educational process. In the public opinion these applications are not yet seen as a form of education or useful fun, but rather as a feature of mobile devices. Therefore, in their analysis, I focused on their potential for cultural education. Many museum and educational applications can be attributed to fulfill several important functions of education – developmental, educational, cognitive, expressive, culture-creating and finally recreational and ludic. Mobility is therefore an important goal of education nowadays, and the modern facilities can help to develop competencies that are important from the perspective of cultural education, such as understanding the needs of training and cultural development in the process of lifelong learning, valuing traditions and cultural heritage.

The aim of this article is the analysis of the possibilities of using in mobile commerce and mobile browsers on the mobile devices (smartphone, tablet) and traditional (laptop, desktop computer) from the customer’s point of view. This analysis was carried out in two stages. The first stage assessed the possibilities and conditions for the use of mobile and traditional devices in e-commerce. In the second stage, electronic commerce conducted on mobile devices was compared with the use of mobile applications and web browsers, with electronic commerce carried out using browsers on traditional devices. The structure of the article consists of presenting the assumptions of the study, describing the methodology and the research sample as well as analyzing and discussing the obtained results. A qualitative study was conducted using the CAWI method on a selected sample of university students.
Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza możliwości wykorzystania w handlu elektronicznym aplikacji mobilnych oraz przeglądarek internetowych na urządzeniach mobilnych (smartfon, tablet) i tradycyjnych (laptop, komputer stacjonarny) z punktu widzenia klienta. Analizy tej dokonano dwustopniowo. W pierwszym etapie oceniono możliwości i uwarunkowania wykorzystania urządzeń mobilnych i tradycyjnych w handlu elektronicznym, a w drugim porównano handel elektroniczny prowadzony na urządzeniach mobilnych przy pomocy aplikacji mobilnych i przeglądarek internetowych z handlem elektronicznym dokonywanym za pomocą przeglądarek na urządzeniach tradycyjnych. Struktura artykułu składa się z przedstawienia założeń badania, opisu metodyki i próby badawczej oraz analizy i dyskusji uzyskanych wyników. Badanie mające charakter jakościowy przeprowadzono metodą CAWI na wyselekcjonowanej próbie studentów uczelni wyższych.

Development and popularization of new communication technologies generate new dimensions of opportunities and threats associated with learning and using technologies as well as with their sociocultural consequences. The article presents four dimensions of social perception of these threats and opportunities: creativity, representative potential, psychological attitude, privacy and control. They were distinguished on the basis of two research projects using qualitative research techniques. Particular attention was dedicated to generational usage of technology. In this way, the paper may be the basis for distinguishing the dimensions of technological competencies.
