    The aim of the article is to analyze the determinants and other conditions of the religious policy of the Polish state towards the Methodist Church in the Stalinist period. The author took into account conceptual, programmatic, executive and operational activities undertaken by a complex subject of power, formed by three structures: party, administrative and special services. In his opinion, the liquidation direction of religious policy towards the Methodist Church was determined primarily by two factors: 1) the activity of Methodists in Masuria, which was assessed as “harmful activities” because they were competitive to the activity of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church (in which the authorities placed great hopes for effective repolonization of the native population), 2) strong links between the Methodist Church in Poland and the Methodist Church in the West (United States of America, Canada, Great Britain, Sweden). The liquidationa ctivities have been depicted primarily on the basis of solutions included in the action of special services under the codename “Moda”. The author also explains the reasons for the final resignation from the liquidation policy towards Polish Methodism and the inclusion of the Methodist Church in the direction of the rationing policy.

    The article presents the latest proposal by the Church of England and Methodist Church Faith and Order bodies to restore Anglican–Methodist unity in Great Britain. If mutually adopted, the document titled Mission and Ministry in Covenant would enable the introduction of episcopacy in the British Methodist Church, the presbyteral ordination of Methodist ministers by a bishop, and—as a result—the mutual recognition and interchangeability of presbyteral ministry in both Churches. The proposal concerning the introduction of episcopal ordination in the Methodist Church recommends ordination to the episcopacy of each elected President of Methodist Conference. Thus ordained, the President-bishop would then ordain Methodist presbyters. As regards the Methodist presbyters who were not episcopally ordained, the document proposes the recognition of their ministry by the Church of England in the terms of “bearable anomaly.” Yet, such a solution poses many questions and gives rise to theological doubts.

    Początki metodyzmu w Lublinie związane są z osobą Michała Ruda (1907-1998), który przez wiele lat był miejscowym kaznodzieją Kościoła metodystycznego w Lublinie. Na początku organizował on metodystyczne nabożeństwa w swoim prywatnym mieszkaniu przy ul. Kresowej 12, a w 1993 r. doprowadził do otwarcia kaplicy Kościoła metodystycznego przy ul. Borelowskiego 5. Po śmierci Michała Ruda w 1998 r. aktywność Kościoła metodystycznego w Lublinie straciła swój pierwotny impet i nabrała rozmachu dopiero od 2010 r. w związku z działalnością ks. Dariusza Zubera. Po objęciu przez ks. Dariusza Zubera parafii w Olsztynku w 2011 r. rozwój metodyzmu w Lublinie ponownie stracił swoją dynamikę.
    The origins of Methodism in Lublin are connected with the person of Michał Rud (1907-1998), who for many years was a local preacher of the Methodist Church in Lublin. At the beginning he organized Methodist services in his private apartment at 12 Kresowa Street and in 1993 led to the opening of the Methodist Church chapel at 5 Borelowskiego Street. After the death of Michał Rud in 1998 the activity of the Methodist Church in Lublin lost its initial impetus and gained momentum only from 2010 in connection with the activity of rev. Dariusz Zuber. After rev. Dariusz Zuber took over the parish in Olsztynek in 2011 the development of Methodism in Lublin again lost its dynamics.

    Artykuł przedstawia najnowszą propozycję agend Wiary i Ustroju Kościoła Anglii oraz Kościoła Metody stycznego w Wielkiej Brytanii, aby przywrócić anglikańsko-metodystyczną jedność kościelną w Wielkiej Brytanii. Gdyby obustronnie przyjęto dokument Misja i Służba w Przymierzu, umożliwiłoby to wprowadzenie episkopatu w brytyjskim Kościele Metodystycznym, dokonywanie święceń prezbiteratu duchownych metodystycznych przez biskupa, a w rezultacie wzajemne uznanie i możliwość wymiany posługiwania duchownego w obu Kościołach. Propozycja wprowadzenia święceń biskupich w Kościele Metodystycznym zakłada święcenie do stopnia episkopatu każdorazowo wybieranego Przewodniczącego Konferencji. Następnie tak wyświęcony Prezydent-biskup dokonywałby święceń prezbiterów metodystycznych. Co do prezbiterów metodystycznych, którzy nic zostali wyświęceni przez biskupa, dokument zakłada uznanie ich posługiwania przez Kościół Anglii na zasadzie „znośnej anomalii”. Takie rozwiązanie rodzi jednak wiele pytań i teologicznych wątpliwości.
    The article describes the latest proposal by the Church of England and Methodist Church Faith and Order bodies to restore Anglican-Methodist unity in Great Britain. If mutually adopted, the document Mission and Ministry in Covenant would enable introduction of episcopacy in the Methodist Church, the presbyteral ordination of Methodist ministers by a bishop, then mutual recognition and interchangeability of presbyteral ministry in both Churches.
