The paper presents the idea of the possibility of implementing automatic virtual instrument using the quasi ˗ balanced method to measure the active component of impedance (resistance). The system is based on the structure of a non-bridge quasi-balanced circuit. The process of balancing is automatically performed. This meter has been built based on the data acquisition board NI USB-6251 from National Instruments and programming environment LabVIEW. Signal processing is made in an algorithmic way. The measurement of the phase angle is based on short-term Fourier transform. The results of preliminary experimental research are presented in the paper.

Ground reaction measurement in landing gear laboratory tests is used in order to gain knowledge about loads transferred to the aircraft structure. Ground reaction level is defined during aircraft design phase and it is required not to exceed limit value in real construction. Load from landing affect directly strength of aircraft structure especially mounting points what translates both strength of aircraft structure especially mounting points what translates both on safety and weight of the final design. Meeting the safety requirements is crucial in aviation regulations conformity. Landing gear ground reactions evaluation is performed during laboratory tests in order to meet the compliance with the ground load requirements assumed in design phase. Proper test method is crucial to prove the actual load. One of the methods is landing gear dynamic drop test where landing forces are measured. Force measurement is made in several ways according to test stand construction and test object specifics. In this article, three methods are described due to author’s experience in landing gear tests. Proposed techniques cover two direct and one indirect force measurements. Direct approach is based on strain gauge measurement principle. One is a strain gauge plate fixed to the ground while the second one is based on strain gauges attached to landing gear mounting nodes. Indirect approach is based on the acceleration of the tested object, which by definition is correlated with the force applied to the structure. Obtained test results allow determining the kinetic energy absorbed by landing gear during drop test. In this article author also presented numerical integration of the time history data and compared them with simulation results in order to show equivalence of all three of the test methods and to prove correctness of the test initial conditions determination.

The aim of this paper is to formulate a new proposal for perception measurement on a linguistic scale coded with fuzzy numbers. Additionally, an attempt is made to show the assessment process of the adequacy of a linguistic scale. The basis for the proposal is the discussion of issues related to the ambiguity of the results of measurements made by means of a subjective type of measurement scales. The proposed assessment technique is relevant when the results of the measurement based on a linguistic scale are coded with numerical equivalents in the form of e.g. unconventional fuzzy numbers. The issue the subjective perception of the products' quality illustrates the objectivity level of measurement results. Subjective perception is measured with a specially designed IT tool allowing the respondent to determine all the characteristics of the resulting fuzzy numbers. The scale adequacy assessment tool is based on the Item Response Theory, and particulary so on the model devised by Georg Rasch. The measurement of socio-economic phenomena, including material and subjective wellbeing of households, the quality of households' durable goods, and the assessment of the quality of goods available on the market requires special tools. It seems that one of the most useful and powerful tools for the measurement of socio-economic phenomena is a linguistic scale. The problematic issue in the analysis presented in the paper is coding verbal terms with their numerical equivalents.

Currently used procedures in room acoustics measurements are not automated. Particularly in medium-sized and large areas they require a lot of time and intensive labour which directly translates into an increase in the measurement cost. Introduction of an automated system would increase efficiency of the measurements, and therefore could present both practical and scientific benefit. The paper presents initial feasibility study for designing a system that permits the measurement of selected acoustic parameters for any choice of three-dimensional grid of measurement points throughout the volume of the room. The system will utilize an autonomous probe attached to a blimp, and will be able to measure and analyze acoustic characteristics of the rooms. The article discusses the initial choices of the system elements, starting from the general idea, through the mechanical design and control procedures, the software that controls positioning and flying of the probe, up to the automation of the measurement procedure and its possible impact on the acoustic field.

A four-terminal (4T) bridge-circuit, with two voltage outputs is presented. This circuit, named as double current bridge is supplied by two equal current sources connected in parallel to opposite arms (2J) or by one such source switched between those arms (2x1J). Two output voltages from bridge diagonals as functions of arm resistance increments in absolute and in relative units are given. Also the example of this bridge application is proposed. Signal conditioning formulas of two-parameter measurement on the example of strain and temperature are discussed in detail. Some results obtained with the use of this bridge-circuit are briefly described.

We have been studying the high-precision three-dimensional measurement system using cameras. In this paper, our system is verified, and its application is reported. The principle of our measurement system is based on the stereo measurement. In our system, reducing the quantization error by numerical processing can realize the highprecision 3D measurement at the long distance. This measurement system has many applications, such as industrial use, ITS, robotics, and many others. Our system has been applied on the observation of the glacier. The Perito Moreno glacier, which is our target, moves very fast and the moving speed is reported as about 2 m/day. Then, it is thought that the important information about the global warming can be obtained by observing this glacier. But, as the width of the glacier is several km, there were no reports of continuously observing the movement of the glacier in high accuracy. As a result, the unique observation results about the daily movement of the glacier were measured. The observation of the glacier flow was carried out for the third straight year. In this paper, the valuable results of the glacier observation and experimental results to verify the precision are discussed.

In the years 1993-1994 International Organization for Standardization (ISO) introduced to the metrology the fundamental changes of basic character, involving - in addition to the traditional concept of measurement error - the use of new fundamental term of uncertainty of measurement. In consequence, this has led to currently undisputed axiom of metrology, that the measurement result has a form of a section on dimensional axis. These rules of presenting measurable physical values should be reflected in the of practical procedures of mathematical modeling. Presented work relates to this particular problem. It discusses the principles of mathematical modeling together with the assessment of the results. Particular attention was paid to the identification of possible systematic errors (i.e. the load of model) and to estimating the uncertainty of the statistical and deterministic modeling.

The aim of this study was to estimate the measurement uncertainty for a material produced by additive manufacturing. The material investigated was FullCure 720 photocured resin, which was applied to fabricate tensile specimens with a Connex 350 3D printer based on PolyJet technology. The tensile strength of the specimens established through static tensile testing was used to determine the measurement uncertainty. There is a need for extensive research into the performance of model materials obtained via 3D printing as they have not been studied sufficiently like metal alloys or plastics, the most common structural materials. In this analysis, the measurement uncertainty was estimated using a larger number of samples than usual, i.e., thirty instead of typical ten. The results can be very useful to engineers who design models and finished products using this material. The investigations also show how wide the scatter of results is.

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the influence of factors related to selected datums or datum systems on deviation values of gear tooth geometry, and, consequently, on the accuracy class of the aircraft bevel gear design. The item subjected to measurements was a bevel gear pinion machined by grinding on a brand new Klingelnberg G27 CNC machine tool. In the measurements, a P40 coordinate machine with a rotary table was used. The first step in the analysis was a multiple check of the accuracy of datum surfaces (the plane and cylindrical surfaces) and establishing the deviation of their dimensions and geometrical conditions (roundness, radial run-out, axial run-out). Next, tooth measurements were taken using the same setup with 13 different datum systems. The results were subjected to analysis, which yielded conclusions concerning the significance of the selection of datum systems for the correct evaluation of bevel gear accuracy. Findings indicated which datum systems are optimal and which prove insufficient to obtain reliable results. This can be used as a practical recommendation for gear tooth designers in establishing control datums for designed bevel gear members.

This paper presents the method of wireless passive temperature measurement by using the battery-free sensing platform based on RFID technology. Described platform serves as an interface between any sensor and standard RFID reader connected to the host computer. Utilizing the RFID technology working in high frequency band results in the possibility of providing energy from the reader to the sensing platform via magnetic coupling between their antennas and wireless data transmission of the measured data, even in the proximity of metal objects. Investigation related to the wireless temperature measurements of bearing supporting a rotating shaft are presented in this paper. Comparison with the measurements performed by using of an infrared camera shows high compliance of data obtained by using those two methods. The result demonstrates that presented wireless temperature measurement method could be attractive in many diagnostic purposes.
Artykuł opisuje metodę bezprzewodowego pasywnego pomiaru temperatury przy wykorzystaniu platformy sensorycznej opartej na technologii RFID, nie posiadającej własnego źródła zasilania. Opisywana platforma służy jako interfejs pomiędzy dowolnym czujnikiem, a typowym czytnikiem RFID przesyłającym dane do podłączonego komputera. Wykorzystanie technologii RFID pracującej w paśmie wysokich częstotliwości (HF) pozwala na dostarczanie energii z czytnika do platformy poprzez sprzężenie magnetyczne pomiędzy ich antenami oraz na bezprzewodową transmisję danych pomiarowych, nawet w przypadku obecności obiektów metalowych w pobliżu. Zaprezentowane zostały badania dotyczące bezprzewodowego pomiaru temperatury łożyska podtrzymującego obracający się wał. Porównanie wyników z pomiarami wykonanymi za pomocą kamery termowizyjnej pokazuje wysoką zgodność danych pozyskanych z wykorzystaniem tych dwóch metod. Wynik ten udowadnia, że zaprezentowana metoda bezprzewodowego pomiaru temperatury może być atrakcyjna dla różnych zastosowań diagnostyki maszyn.

The article discusses the logistic utility of registration data of automated measuring systems in the practice of operational management of national roads, expressways and motorways, as well as the shaping of the quality of logistic services. The analysis of the key problem is presented in the article on the example of the automatic toll collection system viaTOLL, operating on the indicated roads. The publication draws attention to the key and extramural information character of data registered, stored and offered by specialized, automated record systems. The paper formulates some objections to the methods of evaluation of uncertainty in noise measurement which are presented in two standards: ISO 9612 (2009) and DIN 45641 (1990). In particular, it focuses on approximation of an equivalent sound level by a function which depends on the arithmetic average of sound levels. Depending on the nature of a random sample the exact value of the equivalent sound level may be significantly different from an approximate one, which might lead to erroneous estimation of the uncertainty of noise indicators. The article presents an analysis of this problem and the adequacy of the solution depending on the type of a random sample.

There are a lot of ethical problems concerning the use of invasive methods for the measurement of a child’s body response to physical exercise and physical training. The alternative is are non-invasive methods like ergospirometry or NIRS. The article presents a measurement system dedicated for children endurance tests, composed of a few non-invasive measurement modules, including a temperature measurement module. Temperature is one of the factors determining the hemoglobin oxygenation, which in turn determines the physical exercise ability. The system was tested on a group of 15 healthy children 14-16 years old partaking in a ramp exercise test up to exhaustion. The test results are shown in the article.
