Our maritime cluster is handicapped with respect to the educational needs and their fulfillment. We need to come up with institutions of world ranking for maritime education. This paper presents findings from three workshops focused on the physical, organizational and social work environment of service crew working on board Swedish passenger vessels. The first workshop aimed to identify underlying causes of long-term sick leave among employees in the service department, and potential measures that can be taken to reduce ill-health. The second and third workshop explored knowledge of available methods to identify occupational safety and health risks, and suggest health-promotion strategies at individual, team and company levels. A total of 58 persons from the Swedish maritime cluster participated in the workshops. During the workshops, open and structured brainstorming was used to create affinity diagrams to systematically summarize the identified causes, risks and strategies. Although the results presented in this article stem from a research project focused on Swedish passenger vessels, many of the findings may be transferable to an international maritime setting towards a deeper understanding of seafarers’ work environment and working conditions.

Opis:
The role of intellectual organizations in the formation of professional competence, social adaptability and volitional qualities of workers of marine industry is actual in terms of growth of natural and man-made emergency situations, unstable socio-economic environment. In the marine industry, except for the education system and research, such organizations have prospects of development as the most competitive in the shipbuilding, fishing industry, port management, the logistics of fishing in the ocean and coastal fisheries, transport and storage prior to further processing. In this article is proposed a holistic resource approach to the formation of intellectual organization as a major maritime educational complex that integrates all stages of maritime specialist training, from a seaman to a master of a large ship including active research and intense maritime practice.

The long-term performance of a structural member is determined by its durability and deformation with time. The bending creep behaviour of modified wood was assessed experimentally over a period of 35 days (840 hours). Four chemical modification processes were used: 1,3-dimethylol-4,5-dihydroxyethyleneurea (DMDHEU), mmethylated melamine formaldehyde resin (MMF), tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and amid wax (WA). Wood stakes with 20.10.200 mm RTL dimensions of Portuguese Maritime pine (Pinus pinaster Ait.) from sapwood part of the stem were used for evaluated the primary creep. Experiments were conducted at bending stresses amounting to 0.1, 0.2, 0.4 of the mean immediate wood bending strength obtained at equilibrium moisture content (EMC). Applying the same stress level (SL, 0.2), wood creep was also determined at the constant low and high moisture content. As results: Between low and medium SL (8 and 16 N/mm2), unmodified wood at indoors conditions did not show any effect in the creep factors (kc). However, at high SL (35 N/mm2) a slight increase (not significant) in the kc was found. It seems that the kc was nearly independent of the SL. In the lumen fill modification (TEOS and wax), the deposited material has not affected the creep behaviour under various SL. The cell wall modification (with DMDHEU and MMF resins) did not show any differences in the kc for low and medium SL (8 and 16 N/mm2). However, resin modification under high SL (35 N/mm2) has shown a significant reduction related to unmodified wood. Between both types of resin (DMDHEU and MMF) and levels of modification (WPG), significant effect was not found. At saturated conditions, lumen fill modification (TEOS and wax) did not show any effect on creep. In the cell wall modification (DMDHEU and MMF resin), significant reduction was recorded due to the embrittlement effect imparted by the modification (deposit of resin in the cell wall).

Podstawowym celem powyższego opracowania jest prezentacja kontekstów społeczno-terytorialnych związanych z funkcjonowaniem struktur klastrowych. Przedmiot badań stanowią klastry, a zakresem badań objęto przykłady tych struktur funkcjonujące na obszarach nadmorskich. Zagadnienie to ma szczególne znaczenie dla gospodarki morskiej, borykającej się częstokroć z barierami właściwego rozwoju procesów integracyjnych zachodzących w tej sferze. Konkretyzując zasadniczy, poznawczy cel opracowania, wykorzystano pogłębioną kwerendę literatury przedmiotu, jak też posłużono się wynikami badań własnych. W tym celu w styczniu 2023 roku przeprowadzono wywiady pogłębione wśród ekspertów gospodarki morskiej oraz ekspertów z dziedziny klastrów (w województwie zachodniopomorskim) wykorzystując metodę CATI. Dowiedziono, że efektywna kooperacja sprzyja prawidłowej ekspansji struktur klastrowych, które z kolei odgrywają kluczową rolę w procesie integrowania środowiska gospodarki morskiej.
The main objective of this study is to present the socio-territorial contexts related to the functioning of cluster structures. Clusters are the subject of the research, and the scope of the research covers examples of these structures operating in coastal areas. This issue is of particular importance for the maritime economy, which often struggles with barriers to the proper development of integration processes taking place in this sphere. To specify the basic, cognitive purpose of the study, an in-depth query of the literature on the subject was used, as well as the results of own research. For this purpose, in January 2023, in-depth interviews were conducted among maritime economy experts and cluster experts (in the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship) using the CATI method. It has been proven that effective cooperation is conducive to the proper expansion of cluster structures, which in turn play a key role in the process of integrating the maritime economy environment.
