Zjawisko wielokulturowości jest jednym z kluczowych wyznaczników kreujących współczesny świat i relacje międzyludzkie, oparte między innymi na spotkaniu z Innym. Głównym celem rozważań w prezentowanym tekście jest ukazanie tego, w jaki sposób zagrożenie epidemiologiczne związane z rozprzestrzenianiem się wirusa SarsCov2 zmieniło perspektywę postrzegania wielokulturowości, a tym samym zdeterminowało (być może) nowe myślenie o potrzebie interakcji międzykulturowych. Autorka artykułu odwołuje się zarówno do interdyscyplinarnej literatury przedmiotu, jak i dokonuje własnych przemyśleń na temat zjawiska wielokulturowości, ukazując jej znaczenie dla procesu uczenia się międzykulturowego. W części końcowej zostały zawarte najważniejsze wnioski i konkluzje dotyczące społeczeństwa wielokulturowego, szans i możliwości jego rozwoju w zglobalizowanym (przed)pandemicznym świecie.
The phenomena of multiculturality is one of the key determinants that create the modern world and multicultural relations based among others on the meeting with the Other. The main purpose of the considerations in the presented text is to point the way how epidemiological threat connected with the expansion of SarsCov2 virus has changed the perspective of preception of multiculturality and at the same time how it has determined (perhaps) the new thinking of the need of multicultural interactions. The author of the article appeals to both interdisciplinary literature subject and makes her own thoughts about the phenomena of multiculturality, presenting its meaning for the learning process. In the final part the most important conclusions and rethoughts about the multicultural society, chances and possibilities of its development in the globalised (before)pandemic world are contained.

In reference to Anna Śliz’s book Wielokulturowość: stygmat współczesnego świata? Próba analizy socjologicznej [Multiculturalism: The Stigma of the Modern World? An Attempt at a Sociological Analysis], the subject of this article is multiculturalism as a phenomenon, a political project, and a real kind of existing society (multiculturalism is not the same as interculturalism or transculturalism). In the discourse on multiculturalism, many specifi c questions arise: the inevitability of the  phenomenon and its genesis; the beginnings and bases of multiculturalism as a political project and its challenges; the reality of multicultural societies - from affirmation to contestation. Model discourse over multiculturalism is confronted with a range of remarks, commentaries, and questions about its fundamental significance, for example, about the potential for realizing the idea of multiculturalism in Europe, and whether Australia and Canada are now definitely multicultural societies.

Changes and processes in modern societies, migrations caused by the globalization and heightened, are putting at present school reality, as well as educational media and their research, amongst crucial issues of the global discourse about the cultural diversity. This thesis was an inspiration of the idea of. Project under the title: Cultural Knowledge in the Educational Media. Comparative Analysis of Poland, German and Belarus as the Cases of Societies with Different Multicultural Experiences, a team drew up researchers made interested in the phenomenon of the cultural diversity, with special taking into account the situation of creating the cultural knowledge by an chosen educational systems. The project was submitted by the Alcide de Gasperi University of Euroregional Economy in application for the grant (NCN/ OPUS-8 about the number: 278648 2014). The basic goal of the project is to extend the ways of identification and overcoming intercultural barriers. Among the latter there is a lack or distortion of the cultural knowledge, deficient stereotypes, prejudices that permeate various instruction aids (textbooks, e-textbooks, wide range of other available teaching materials etc. as well as official teaching programmes). The original and innovative research intention of the project will be the presentation of the social construction of cultural knowledge as well as an attempt to construct theoretical models based on the comparison of the three social-cultural systems that are the cases of the societies with different multiculturalism experiences (Poland, Germany, Belarus) basing on the information that is found in the school educational media. Such comparative analysis for the sake of the theoretical model formulation has not yet been carried out in a systematic way therefore it remains still of great interest for the academic research.
Zmiany i procesy we współczesnych społeczeństwach, spowodowane przez globalizację i wzmożone migracje, umieszczają obecnie rzeczywistość szkolną, a także media edukacyjne oraz ich badania wśród kluczowych zagadnień globalnego dyskursu na temat różnorodności kulturowej. Niniejsza teza na początku była inspiracją pomysłu badań. Projekt pod tytułem: „Wiedza kulturowa w mediach edukacyjnych – analiza porównawcza Polski, Niemiec i Białorusi jako przykładów społeczeństw o różnych doświadczeniach z wielokulturowością” opracował zespół badaczy zainteresowanych zjawiskiem zróżnicowania kulturowego, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem sytuacji kreowania wiedzy kulturowej przez wybrane systemy edukacji. Niniejszy projekt złożony został przez Wyższą Szkołę Gospodarki Euroregionalnej im. Alcide de Gasperi do Narodowego Centrum Nauki jako grant (OPUS-8 o numerze: 278648 2014)1. Projekt, z założenia o charakterze międzynarodowym oraz interdyscyplinarnym, ma stanowić przyczynek do rozwoju takich dyscyplin naukowych, jak: komunikacja i edukacja międzykulturowa, socjologia, antropologia kulturowa, pedagogika porównawcza, edukacja różnorodnościowa, dydaktyka. Podstawowy cel badań to pogłębiona analiza zakresu wiedzy kulturowej w mediach edukacyjnych oraz próba rozpoznania ewentualnych barier międzykulturowych obecnych w takich przekazach, czyli: brak wiedzy kulturowej lub zafałszowana wiedza kulturowa, błędne stereotypy, uprzedzenia – a tych, jak twierdzą badacze, nie brakuje dla przykładu w szkolnych podręcznikach. Oryginalnym i nowatorskim zamierzeniem naukowym projektu jest ukazanie strategii społecznego konstruowania wiedzy kulturowej w ramach trzech odrębnych systemów (polskiego, białoruskiego i niemieckiego) oraz zbudowanie na tej podstawie modeli teoretycznych.

Tematem artykułu jest analiza mechanizmów funkcjonowania współczesnego społeczeństwa wielokulturowego na przykładzie filmu Gra (Play) Rubena Östlunda, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem sposobów przedstawiania kwestii rasowych. Tytułowa kategoria „gry” wskazuje na jeden z możliwych tropów interpretacyjnych, związanych z performatywnym wymiarem tożsamości etnicznej, zgodnie z którym rasa wiąże się nie tyle z biologicznym dziedziczeniem, ile z kulturowym systemem oczekiwań, jakie mamy wobec ludzi o innym kolorze skóry. Loska pragnie pokazać, że reżyser narusza tabu, jakim jest kwestia koloru skóry, zmusza do zastanowienia się nad przyczynami konfliktu społecznego, który tylko pozornie nie istnieje, uświadamia widzom, w jaki sposób jest wytwarzana i odgrywana tożsamość, jak układają się stosunki władzy i podległości.
The subject of the article is the analysis of the mechanisms of functioning of contemporary multicultural society on the example of Ruben Östlund’s Play, with particular emphasis on ways of presenting racial issues. The title category of “game” indicates one of the possible interpretational clues associated with the performative dimension of ethnic identity, according to which the race is associated not so much with biological inheritance, but with the cultural system of expectations we have for people with a different skin colour. Loska wants to show that the director violates the taboo, which is the matter of skin colour, and forces us to reflect on the causes of social conflict, which only seemingly does not exist, he makes the audience aware of how identity is produced and played out, how relations between power and subordination work.

The author analyzes multiculturalism as a continuous, dynamic process that should direct the modern man towards civil society. First, the author pays attention to the coexistence of cultures, which during development go through different forms of coexistence, adopting certain axiologies, teleologies, ideologies. Believes that education in a rapidly and dynamically expanding space of multiculturalism is not able to shape the awareness of young people, which causes turning to cultural separatism, terrorism and extremism. The author maintains that we are now facing a serious problem of the formation of transcultural and intercultural identity, parallel functioning of human in several cultures.In the article, the author points out numerous errors in the ideology of multiculturalism and analyzes multiculturalism in the context of social policy and educational activities that take into account the principles of multiculturalism oriented towards cultural openness, to notice and propagate the multitude of cultures in one man.
Autor analizuje wielokulturowość jako ustawiczny, dynamiczny proces, który winien ukierunkowywać współczesnego człowieka na społeczeństwo obywatelskie. Zaczyna od zwrócenia uwagi na współwystępowanie kultur, które w trakcie rozwoju przechodzą do różnych form współistnienia, przyjmując określone aksjologie, teleologie, ideologie. Uważa, że edukacja w szybko i dynamicznie rozbudowującej się przestrzeni wielokulturowości nie jest w stanie kształtować świadomości młodych ludzi, co powoduje zwracanie się ku separatyzmom kulturowym, terroryzmowi i ekstremizmowi. Utrzymuje, że obecnie stajemy przed poważnym problemem formowania się tożsamości transkulturowej i międzykulturowej, równoległego funkcjonowania człowieka w kilku kulturach.W artykule autor wskazuje na liczne błędy w ideologii wielokulturowości oraz analizuje wielokulturowość w kontekście polityki społecznej i działalności edukacyjnej uwzględniającej zasady wielokulturowości ukierunkowane na otwartość kulturową, na zauważanie i propagowanie wielości kultur w jednym człowieku.

The study presents an analysis of the communicative function of word in contemporary Indian poetry. The article is a presentation of the teaching materials which were one of the key elements for the preparation and implementation of the training module under the project: “Implementation of the educational programme »Politics – Religion – Security. Conflicts and attempts to resolve them« basing on international cooperation.” This publication is made up of the following parts: presentation of the main assumptions of the project; presentation of entities involved in the implementation of the project; description of ideas underlying the project and its objectives (“Issues”); discussion of the contents of twelve sets of teaching materials (textbooks) and academic documents (syllabuses) developed by project promoters. The educational program prepared by the authors has been dedicated to Polish students – project participants. The project has been aimed at preparing its participants for their future roles as employees or employers effectively functioning in the religiously and culturally diversified labour market. Having this objective in mind, twelve sets of teaching materials have been profiled, which address issues covering the time space from the Antiquity until the present. These issues are linked with: biblical texts; ancient Greek philosophy and tragedy; the legal and political situation of first Christians; the Church at the late Antiquity; the medieval project of uniting Europe; modern times and ideologies; modern sources of totalitarianism; the religious dimension of political ideologies; relations between the Church and nationalists; contemporary Catholic social teaching.

In the article, the author presents the basic relations between a nation state and a multicultural society. According to the author, the attitude of the nation state and the dominant nation in the state to the phenomenon of cultural diversity of society is a key phenomenon in the theory and practice of multiculturalism. Namely, the nation state is characterized by two strategies defining the attitude to the cultural diversity of society. It is a strategy of cultural homogenization and a pluralistic. The emergence of a pluralistic strategy begins with the occurrence and eventual growth of phenomena and processes referred to as multiculturalism and multicultural society.

Artykuł jest próbą poszukiwania metodologicznego paradygmatu, za który przyjąłem jakościowe badania nad problematyką wielokulturowości. Zachętą intelektualną do podjęcia prezentowanego zagadnienia była tematyka międzynarodowej polsko-nowozelandzkiej konferencji dotyczącej społeczności międzykulturowych i relacji pomiędzy nimi. Natomiast inspiracja metodologiczna wiąże się z próbą eksploracyjnego sprawdzenia jakościowego narzędzia badawczego. Narzędziem tym jest arkusz z dyspozycjami do pogłębionego ukierunkowanego wywiadu do badania społeczności wielokulturowych. W poszczególnych punktach artykułu omówiono najbardziej istotne kwestie dotyczące założeń teoretycznych, kategorii metodologicznych i prezentacji narzędzia badawczego. Merytoryczna treść narzędzia badawczego została zawarta w sześciu blokach tematycznych.
This article is an attempt to work out a methodological device for qualitative research on multicultural questions. The intellectual challenge to tackle this problem was provided by the binational Polish- New Zealand conference, broaching the issue of multicultural societies and the relations/interactions between its separate parties. The methodological impulse for our investigation lay in the checkout of the scope and suitability of quality research as a scientific implement. Our research instrument is a questionnaire consisting of questions for a detailed guided interview to study multicultural communities. The respective chapters of this paper present the main issues of our work: the theoretical premises, methodological categories and the presentation of our research implement. The contents of the research instrument consist of six topical units.

The article concerns a particularly critical review of new threats of construction of a multicultural society. World War II and its political consequences resulted in a demographic shift in Lower Silesia. It took place to an extent never before seen in any part of Europe. Due to international decisions concerning the changes of its borders, Lower Silesia was once again integrated with Poland. At the same time the German inhabitants living in the region were obliged to leave. Polish people replaced them coming from other parts of Poland as well as from former Polish territories which had been incorporated by the Soviet Union. The immigrants were influenced by the cultures of the places of their origin. They differed in almost every field of everyday life, so in their new towns they met people with various integrating capabilities, contrasting points of view, political preferences and attitudes.That phenomenon was understood as a coexistence of the representatives of at least two different cultures whose members perceive the differences between them. Prevalence of so many distinct cultures in one area and the influences they had on each other led to the creation of specific cultural and social relations among the groups and their members. The situation obliged the settlers to overcome their particular attitudes and competences to live and communicate with new neighbours. Significant historical processes had influenced in a noticeable way the lives of people from every single town and village in Lower Silesia. One example of the place chosen by the immigrants to Lower Silesia is Dobroszyce. The incoming people created from the very beginning a society which was supposed to live in multicultural reality.

Th e issue of the cultural diversity already permanently put its name down into the scientifi c, media, public and political discourse. Certainly it is signifi cant for social and communications pragmatics and everyday interactions in work, life, education, where we are coming across representatives of diverse cultures (of social-cultural systems). Th e present article in the idea is supposed to move closer the situation of the meeting of the small child with the cultural diversity and to underline the importance of intercultural education for small children in Poland and in Germany. Peculiarly an answer to a question is interesting: whether in this educational systems formal and unoffi cial, is action which it is possible to regard as innovations thematically accustoming small children to the cultural diversity applied in the context of the multicultural society? With the help of the case study we are trying to give an answer relating analyses to Polish and German cultural area.
Zagadnienie różnorodności kulturowej nie tylko inspiruje naukowców, publicystów i polityków, stanowiąc podstawę badań, dyskursów i debat, jednakowoż jest ważne dla pragmatyki codziennych interakcji w pracy, życiu, edukacji, gdzie napotykamy przedstawicieli różnorodnych kultur (systemów społeczno-kulturowych). Niniejszy artykuł w zamyśle ma przybliżyć sytuację spotkania małego dziecka z różnorodnością kulturową oraz podkreślić znaczenie edukacji międzykulturowej w pracy z dziećmi na pierwszym etapie edukacji w Polsce i w Niemczech. Szczególnie interesująca jest odpowiedź na pytanie: czy w niniejszych systemach edukacji formalnej i nieformalnej, w kontekście społeczeństwa wielokulturowego, stosowane są działania, które można uznać za innowacje tematycznie oswajające małe dzieci z różnorodnością kulturową? Metodą wielokrotnego studium przypadku próbujemy dać odpowiedź, odnosząc analizy do polskiego i niemieckiego obszaru kulturowego.

In the past centuries, Gypsies, today known as the Romani people, contributed to the multiculturalism of societies, mostly in Central and Eastern Europe. With the passing of time, owing to the activities of national administrative authorities, this multiculturalism was limited. Te activities which were undertaken not only aimed at the assimilation of Gypsies but they also pertained to other minorities. Te change in the attitude to others occurred in the second part of the 20th century when the idea of multiculturalism emerged in the West. In this paper, three types of multiculturalism, referring to the real conditions of various societies, have been distinguished and characterised. Tese are: natural multiculturalism, rational multiculturalism and celebrated multiculturalism. Multiculturalism which is propagated at present is celebrated multiculturalism. It focuses on the rights of an individual and not on the rights of a group and it has little in common with natural multiculturalism which allowed an individual to fully participate in minority culture and respected the co-existence of diferent cultures in society. In the light of the assumptions, Programme for the Romani community in Poland aims at integrating the Romani people into modern Polish society. As emerges from the analyses, it can contribute to the mobility of particular Romani people within society and – at the same time – it can endanger the maintenance of Romani identity.
