Egalitarian perspective seems to be an integral part of the theory of stereotypes. The link between the two is so tide that, due to various factors, it appears to be transparent. Does the egalitarian perspective requires specifi c ethical attitudes and imperatives? Does the egalitarian perspective applies to any kind of social stereotypes? This paper analyzes three popular methods of developing simulation models based on experimental data. The presented variants are discussed with emphasis on their strengths and weaknesses, and they are illustrated with examples in the area of numerical fluid mechanics. The principles of developing computer models, details and objectives of mathematical models are not discussed. The relevant information can be found in the author’s previous studies which are available in scientific literature. The last section of the article proposes the most effective methods for combining and designing real and virtual experiments.

Opis:
Incorporating human subjectivity in applied disciplines of social sciences and other base sciences poses a challenge as the nature of qualitative data is often the point of contention. Q methodology is a tool that addresses this challenge as it helps quantify qualitative data using Q factor analysis. Initially developed for psychology and political sciences, Q methodology now finds its use in many research disciplines of science, especially in interdisciplinary studies that take into account human subjectivity. This article provides a detailed description on the various steps involved in conducting a Q study, with special emphasis on data interpretation. To describe the methodology and demonstrate data interpretation, we used data from our pilot case study of socio-ecological nature that documents attitudes of people towards nature conservation on private land. Additionally, we mention the specific usefulness of this method, highlight the potential challenges at each step of the approach, and provide practical advice to overcome them. In our opinion, Q methodology has been more restricted in its use on the ground of being a more social or psychological tool, and therefore, our aim is to familiarize researchers who could be interested in a mixed approach of joining quantitative data analysis with qualitative, in-depth interpretation with the approach at hand.

The author focuses on academic methodological units’ problems of teaching Polish language and its literature, as well as on the problems of Polish language subject at schools. She proves a strong dependence between the two, which results in their mutual either development or regress. Decline in importance of Polish language subject at schools had a negative influence on performance of academic methodologists. The author emphasises the need for proper cooperation between methodological units around Poland and presents how it should be conducted. She also introduces problems in which cooperating methodologists should be interested. The result of the cooperation shall be both reinstating didactics to its rank of science and enhancing the education level of Polish language at schools.

The starting point for this paper is a general interest in the faint presence of methodologically oriented analyses within the history of education. The methodology of history of education is a rare term on the map of scientific categories (likewise the theory of history of education). One can multiply reasons for such situation, pointing institutional deficiencies of science or stressing the fact that this term is for some researchers unwelcome and should be criticized. Although such statements are worth tackling, the present considerations focus on different research trail, being an analysis of obstacles for crystallization of the methodology reflection within history of education. These are, e.g., the lack of paradigmatic clarity and also definitional instability of contemporary methodology of history as such. Nevertheless, one should not treat this situation as disadvantage, rather as a need of different historical imagination. Responses to this need should be developed and potential contexts of such historical imagination are presented in the final part of this paper.

The article is an elaboration and a critique of certain aspects of the discussion on the relationship between theology and the natural sciences, with special consideration given to the methodological level. In the paper, I will show that in the domain of the natural sciences, there is a crucial and substantial evolution of methodology in terms of the scientific explanation, theories of truth, methods for justifying scientific hypotheses, etc. I will point out the specific loci where theology can effectively meet science, conserving, however, its autonomy and specificity. Modern cosmology is presented as a special case study in this discussion.

The author proposes a method of studying the influence of agglomerations on the development of tourism. The influence of agglomerations on the development of tourism is illustrated by the case of the Lviv region and the use of correlation analysis. In addition, official statistics about the main indicator of the tourism industry by region and city are subjected to centrographic analysis. The coincidence of weight centers confirms the exceptional influence of the Lviv agglomeration on the development of tourism in the region, which is illustrated with a cartographic visualization.

This paper is devoted to two selected teacher figures appearing in American film. John Keating (Dead Poets Society) and Terence Fletcher (Whiplash) are going to be analyzed with regard to their beliefs, their methods, and their impact on students. The introduction refers to the prevailing cinematic image of teachers as heroes who inspire and support their students. Another feature common for many onscreen teachers, including Keating and Fletcher, is their being based on real-life figures. The first section describes Keating’s and Fletcher’s beliefs influencing their work. Keating believes his role is to build students’ confidence, make them feel they can change the world, and convince them they should seize the opportunities life provides them with. Fletcher is in favor of the view that students should not be praised, but pushed to their limits for the sake of results. The next part deals with the differences in Keating’s and Fletcher’s methodologies. Keating aims at replacing a traditional approach to education with demonstration and involving students in practical activities. For Fletcher, maintaining a sense of threat in his students is the key to motivating them. Finally, the analysis turns to Keating’s and Fletcher’s impact on their students. Keating’s teaching makes his students pursue new interests or manage their personal matters effectively. Fletcher’s influence is best reflected by his students’ anxiety, exhaustion, and – in some cases – the increased drive to practice.

As an autonomous constituent of culture explaining the functioning of the world in which all humans live, science has a long-standing history, and has developed solely with the so-called scientific method (or methods), also referred to as paradigms of science, through research activities leading to the publishing of the outcomes of scientific exploration. The development of science, as pursued through the expansion of its subject matter, and through modifying and revising its modes of learning, generated such an expansion in knowledge that it became necessary to divide it into specific areas, fields, and disciplines. By making a general reference to the history of science, including its division as proposed by A. Comte, this article will analyse the modern developments in this sphere, as introduced both by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education. In the context of the existing division of science into fi elds and disciplines, and in view of the place of security sciences within the fi eld of social sciences, the theoretical (ontological and epistemological) methodological assumptions of this science will be analysed, which will form the basis for shaping its identity, and determining its place within the existing system of sciences. Basic indications will also be presented regarding the subject matter of research, and its transdisciplinary conditions, methods, techniques, and research tools, positioned within transmethodology.

Autor tego artykułu zwraca uwagę na problemy dotyczące współczesnych kazań pojawiające się w związku z metodami stosowanymi przez pastorów w celu ich przygotowania, a także będące wynikiem współpracy pomiędzy domem pogrzebowym a pastorem. Niewłaściwe metody wpływają niekorzystnie na proces powstawania kazania pogrzebowego, natomiast współpraca domu pogrzebowego z pastorem może negatywnie wpłynąć na postrzeganie pastora i jego znaczenie dla żałobników. Autor spodziewa się, że studia interdyscyplinarne, a zwłaszcza wnioski płynące z badań psychologicznych nad żałobą mogą pomóc w procesie konstruowania takich kazań pogrzebowych, które w odpowiedni sposób odniosą się do sytuacji. Pastorzy winni brać pod uwagę wiedzę psychologiczną, lecz ich narzędzia powinny pochodzić z umiejętnego zastosowania teologii i wiary w Boga.

The purpose of the article was to point out the possibilities of applying metaanalysis in economic science and particularly in econometrics. So far, in Poland meta-analyses were applied in behavioral sciences, medicine and some in economic studies and management, whereas this method has been used used elsewhere since the 1970s for solving a wide spectrum of problems in many fields of study. The present article shows meta-analysis as the method using statistical tools the most, from amongst all the methods of the literature review, and it shows the procedure of carrying it out step by step and its advantages and disadvantages.
