    Als Schöpfung Gottes hat der christliche Ehebund verschiedene Ziele. In der Sicht von Martin Luther kann man über drei wichtigsten Ehezielen sprechen. Das erste und zweite Ziel bilden, ähnlich wie in der katholischen Kirche, die Nachkommenschaft (die prokreative Funktion der Ehe) und die gegenseitige Hilfe der Ehegatten. Neues in der lutherischen Eheethik (im 16. Jahrhundert) ist die sehr positive und offene Ansicht über den Sexualtrieb, den man jedoch nur in der Ehe befriedigen darf (matrimonium – remedium et medicina). Laut Luther ist noch das dritte Ziel des Ehestandes – nämlich das Kreuztragen (ferre crucem). Dieses Ziel ist stark mit der reformatorischen Theologie verbunden, in der das Kreuz, der Beruf, die Liebe und der Glaube die wichtigsten Elemente bilden.

    The aim of this paper is to look at the specifics of the Lutheran approach to the human labour, which often is described as vocation. The article is divided into three parts: (1) Freedom as essence of Luther’s ethics; (2) Luther’s views on the work; (3) Today’s symptoms of Lutheran ethos of work. The conclusions framed in this study are as follows. Lutheran ethos of work, although it strongly emphasizes the need of work and diligence, doesn’t recognize the person as homo laborens only, i.e. a being realizing himself exclusively by the work. The human labour should be considered as a honourable duty, service to the neighbours, and has to be seen also as a vocation and source of joy. However, the work cannot be the only a form of human activity. Because both workaholism and laziness are sinful, inappropriate and harmful behaviours. The quintessence of this Evangelical-Lutheran approach to the phenomenon of human labour is therefore the healthy attitude to him, and the right place, which the work should occupy in the daily life of a Christian, so that he could responsibly enjoy the gift of freedom.
    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przybliżenie specyfiki luterańskiego podejścia do pracy człowieka, gdzie najczęściej jest ona traktowana jako powołanie. Tekst ten składa się z trzech zasadniczych punktów, w których: po pierwsze, przypomniano poglądy samego Ojca Reformacji na temat istoty etyki; po drugie, przybliżono refleksje Lutra odnośnie do pracy i ludzkiej pracowitości; po trzecie zaś, omówiono współczesne odniesienia dotyczące luterańskiego etosu pracy. Reasumując, należy podkreślić, iż etos pracy, ukształtowany przez Marcina Lutra oraz jego następców, mimo iż akcentuje potrzebę ludzkiej aktywności, to jednak nie ujmuje człowieka jedynie jako istoty realizującej się poprzez działalność zawodową (homo laborens). Praca jest tu uważana za zaszczytny obowiązek, służbę na rzecz innych, a także powołanie i źródło radości. Kwintesencją ewangelicko-luterańskiego podejścia do fenomenu pracy jest zatem właściwe miejsce, jakie winna ona zajmować w życiu chrześcijanina, tak aby mógł on odpowiedzialnie korzystać z daru wolności.

    The article analyses the debate in the largest international organization of Lutheran Churches which takes place within the context of the 500th an-niversary of the Reformation that falls in 2017. Theological heritage of Mar-tin Luther is an important point of reference in areas such as herme¬neutics, ethics, political and social commitment, as well as work ethics, and economic life. Analysis of the Reformer’s theological thought in these areas is not only a reminder of key elements of his theology, but also an inspiring, critical actualisation of contemporary problems faced by the Lutheran Churches.

    In diesem Artikel wurden die ethischen Dokumente der Synoden der Evangelischen Kirchen in Polen aus letzen 20 Jahren dargestellt. Diese Aussagen der Kirche sind die ethischen und seelsorgerlichen Antworten auf die Situation nach der politischen Wende. Es wurde die Rolle der Ethik in Fragestellung und Existenz der heutigen Kirchen, akzentuiert. In der Tradition der Evangelisch-Lutherischen (Augsburger Konfession) Kirche in Polen hat die Synode die besondere Funktion in der Formulierung der offiziellen Stellungnahmen. Nach der politischen Wende im Jahre 1989 versuchte auch die Evangelische Kirche ihre ethischen Positionen in die allgemeine Diskussion einzubringen. Zu den wichtigsten Dokumenten gehören die Stellungnahmen der Kirchen zur Abtreibungsdebatte und weiter zum Thema des polnischen EU-Beitritts. Diese Dokumente wurden jedoch von dem weiteren sozialen Publikum kaum in die Beachtung genommen. Der Verfasser betont, dass in den österreichischen oder tschechischen Kontext solche ethische Stellungnahmen im ökumenischen Gespräch formuliert wurden. Diese Erfahrung sollte man auf den polnischen kirchlichen Grund genommen werden.
    In this article, the ethical documents of the synods of the Protestant churches in Poland from the last 20 years have been presented. These statements of the church are the ethical and pastoral answers to the situation after the political change. It has accentuated the role of ethics in the questioning and existence of today's churches. In the tradition of the Evangelical-Lutheran (Augsburg Confession) Church in Poland, the Synod has the special function in formulating the official statements. After the political change in 1989, the Evangelical Church also tried to bring its ethical positions into the general discussion. Among the most important documents are the statements of the churches on the abortion debate and on the issue of Polish accession to the EU. These documents, however, were hardly taken into consideration by the wider social public. The draftsman emphasizes that in the Austrian or Czech context such ethical statements were formulated in the ecumenical conversation. This experience should be taken on the Polish ecclesiastical grounds.
