    Opis:
    During the Counter-Reformation issues of using the national languages in the liturgy and the rite of the church became the source of lively discussion of the representatives of the Roman Church (Catholic) and the Greek Church (Orthodox). Strategy outlined by the Council of Trent to maintain the dominance of Latin as the universal language of all Christians subordinate to Pope after the establishment of the union in Brest-on-the-Bug had to be significantly modified. The best interests of the Church consolidation required concessions on the part of Rome and recognition of the Slavonic language to be, as effective as the Latin an instrument of the saving activity of the Church. Following the Slavonic, Polish language gradually breaks into the missionary and catechetical use, which the Greek Catholics are increasingly eager to speak. The subject of this article is the phenomenon of coexistence of many languages in liturgical and administrative practice of the Latin and Russian Christians in the Republic of Poland in the 16 th -18th century and reflection on resulting from this fact preferences and translations of polemic and religious texts.

    The article presents the results of a pragmalinguistic analysis of the linguistic contexts of the lexemes Polska, Polak and polski (Poland, Pole, Polish) in the collection of common prayers written by Father Ireneusz Żołnierczyk in 1984. The analysis allows the author to present the way of speaking and modelling the thinking on homeland within a specific given community, place and time. The material under scrutiny consists of the collection of common prayers that is to provide a clear illustration for the mechanisms to create and sustain the sense of religious and national unity. The collection, in the form of an auxiliary book for liturgy, had in the past a particular impact as a pattern providing a template in creating specific communiques during the litugy of the high mass in the Catholic Church. The supplications in the prayers execute a well-established and fixed general pattern, shaping the model of a believer as a hard-working, industrious and the virtuous Pole-Catholic. Within the lexical layer of the prayers there is no particularisation or direct references to political, economic and social situation in Poland, though the participants in the common prayer are in position to contextually read a given passage or hear a modified supplication (appropriately adjusted to specific or current events).

    Uno dei principi fondamentali della riforma liturgica promossa dal Concilio Vaticano II fu quello della partecipazione attiva dei fedeli alla celebrazione. Secondo il dettato della Costituzione liturgica Sacrosanctum Concilium questa partecipazione avviene per mezzo dei riti e delle preghiere (cf. SC 48). Ciò ricorda che l’azione rituale si serve di un doppio tipo di linguaggio: quello verbale e quello non verbale. Lo studio della liturgia, di conseguenza, non può essere ridotto alla sola ricerca riguardante i testi usati nella celebrazione bensì, deve comprendere anche lo studio dei riti. Il presente contributo, senza alcuna pretesa di essere esaustivo, intende ad offre alcuni spunti per una lettura ermeneutica della ritualità cristiana, in base all’esempio concreto dell’uso dell’incenso nella liturgia.
    One of the fundamental principles of the liturgical reform promoted by the Second Vat-ican Council was that of the active participation of the faithful in the celebration. According to the liturgical constitution Sacrosanctum Concilium, this participation takes place through the rites and prayers (cf. SC 48). This reminds us that ritual action makes use of a double type of language: both the verbal and the non-verbal one. The study of the liturgy, therefore, cannot be reduced to research only on the texts used in the celebration, but must also include the study of the rites. The present contribution, without any pretension of being exhaustive, intends to offer some hints for a hermeneutic reading of Christian rituality, on the basis of the concrete example of the use of incense in the liturgy.
    Jedną z podstawowych zasad reformy liturgicznej promowanej przez Sobór Watykański II był czynny udział wiernych w celebracji. Zgodnie z konstytucją liturgiczną Sacrosanctum Concilium, uczestnictwo takie dokonuje się poprzez obrzędy i modlitwy (por. KL 48). Przypomina nam to, że działanie rytualne posługuje się podwójnym rodzajem języka: werbalnym i niewerbalnym. Studiowanie liturgii nie może zatem ograniczać się wyłącznie do badania tekstów używanych podczas celebracji, ale musi obejmować także studium obrzędów. Niniejsze opracowanie, nie pretendujące w żadnej mierze do bycia wyczerpującym, ma na celu zaproponowanie pewnych kryteriów hermeneutycznej lektury chrześcijańskiej rytualności, w oparciu o konkretny przykład użycia kadzidła w liturgii.

Artykuł zawiera analizę poszczególnych elementów komunikacji liturgicznej, wskazując na ich znaczenie i możliwości w przeżywaniu komunikacji bosko-ludzkiej, która skutkuje pogłębieniem duchowości człowieka. W ten sposób ukazano język liturgiczny w wymiarze transcendencji człowieka.

    W świadomości wielu wiernych łacina jako język liturgiczny należy już do przeszłości. Jednakże ostatni sobór podtrzymał używanie tego języka w celebracji katolickiej Mszy św. Nie tylko liturgika, lecz także dogmatyka powinna podjąć problematykę związaną z używaniem łaciny w czasie sprawowania Eucharystii. Jednym z powodów podjęcia tego tematu jest niedawna pięćdziesiąta rocznica zakończenia II Soboru Watykańskiego.
    Fiftieth anniversary of completing the II Vatican Council works allows us to look critically on theology and the post-conciliar achievements in topic of liturgy. The article regards chosen theological aspects of Latin as a liturgical language. On the one hand the Latin language in the liturgy is liturgical problem in theological debate, but on the other hand we can find a theological arguments for using this language. In the article the author also tried to show the timeliness of problems regarding liturgical theology fifty years after the last Council.

    Pół wieku od zakończenia Vaticanum II (1962-1965) często zapomina się o dobrodziejstwie, jakie przyniósł sobór całemu Kościołowi w czynnym przeżywaniu wiary, liturgii przez wiernych. A stało się to możliwe przez dopuszczenie języków narodowych do liturgii. Autor niniejszego artykułu na przykładzie języka romani pokrótce ukazuje, jaką rolę pełni i powinien pełnić język ojczysty, w tym przypadku romski, w wierze i duszpasterstwie dla tych osób, zarówno duchownych, jak i wiernych świeckich, które się nim posługują i w ten sposób oddają cześć Bogu w duchu i w prawdzie. Rola, jaką odgrywa język ojczysty w wierze i duszpasterstwie, winna wpływać na troskę duszpasterzy o jego używanie, m.in. w posłudze słowa, szczególnie w czasie sprawowania sakramentów św. i nabożeństw liturgicznych, aby ukazać współczesnemu człowiekowi prawdę, piękno i radość przeżywanej przez niego wiary, by była ona żywa.
    It has been half of a century since the end of Vatican Council II (1962-1965) and it is often forgotten about the benevolence of the Council brought to the whole Church and made the life of faith and liturgy more active for believers. It was possibile by allowing to use national languages in the liturgy. The author of this article shows, on the example of Romany language, what is the role of a native language in faith and pastoral care for people, both clergy and laity, who speak this language and worship God in spirit and truth. The role of the mother tongue in faith and pastoral ministry should influence pastors in its usage for example in the ministry of the word, especially in performing the sacraments and liturgical celebrations. It is all to show to the modern man the truth, beauty, and joy experienced by the faith and makes it alive.

    Opis:
    The post-counciliar reform of the liturgy of Holy Mass began with publication of „Ordo Missae” in 1969. It was included in Missale Romanum by Paul VI in 1970. Both books were prepared by Consilium ad exsequendam Consitutionem de sacra liturgia recte ordinandam appointed by Paul VI in January 1964. Prominent authorities on history of liturgy, theology and pastoral aspects were part of it. Ordo Missae was elaborated in Coetus X. It was consulted with bishops during the (1st ) Synod of Bishops in 1967. Paul VI accepted it. It is composed of three forms of the Eucharist celebration: mass with the faithful, concelebrated mass and mass with an altar server. Paul VI explained that the new Ordo Missae is the fruit of council reform and it expresses the concern of active participation of the faithful in liturgy. The utterances of Pope confirmed that Ordo Missae is consistent with lex credendi and the need of adjusting lex orandi of Church to indications of Vaticanum which is related to liturgical reform.

    Artykuł podejmuje problem obecności łaciny w liturgii Kościoła po Soborze Watykańskim II. Pomimo zaleceń zawartych w Konstytucji o liturgii łacina została wyłączona z życia Kościoła. Liczne świadectwa starożytnych autorów wyrażają przekonanie o wielkiej mocy i praktyczności łaciny w kulcie Bożym i wzajemnej komunikacji. Wypowiedzi papieży XX wieku zawierają pochwały tego starożytnego języka i zalecenie utrzymania go w obrzędach i edukacji (zwłaszcza w studium teologii). Po Soborze Watykańskim II doszło do „ofiarowania” (eliminacji) tego unitatis vinculum na rzecz specyficznie pojmowanej dostępność i zrozumiałości obrzędów. Niektórzy świeccy i duchowi pisarzy tamtych czasów nie pogodzili się z taką sytuacją. Szczególne miejsce zajmują tu wyjaśnienia J. Ratzingera, który miejscu łaciny w liturgii Kościoła poświęcił wiele uwagi w swoich licznych publikacjach.
    The article takes up the problem of the presence of Latin in the liturgy of the Church after the Second Vatican Council. Despite the recommendations contained in the Constitution on the Liturgy, Latin was excluded from the life of the Church. The numerous testimonies of ancient authors convince about the great virtue and practicality of Latin in the worship of God and in the mutual communication. The statements of the Popes of the twentieth century include praise this ancient language and recommendation to keep it in the rites and education (especially in the study of theology). After the Second Vatican Council, there was the “sacrifice” (elimination) of that unitatis vinculum in favor of specifically conceived accessibility and comprehensibility of rites. Some lay and spiritual writers of those times do not agree with this situation. A special place have here explanations of J. Ratzinger, who in his numerous publications devoted much attention to the place of Latin in the liturgy of the Church.

    Punktem wyjścia naszej refleksji jest najpierw próba zdefiniowania pojęcia symbolu w oparciu o analizę zakresu jego ewoluowania począwszy od starożytności, aż po czasy współczesne. Następnie przedmiot naszych analiz stanowi wartość poznawcza symboli w religii rozpatrywana z punktu widzenia ich funkcji i znaczenia. W tym kontekście działaniem koniecznym staje się potrzeba weryfikacji przestrzeni relacji między symbolem a językiem religijnym oraz specyfikacja symboli religijnych rozpatrywana pod kątem ich istoty, warstw i nieredukowalności.
    The start point of our reflection is an attempt to define the meaning of a symbol. This endeavour is based on the analysis of the spectrum of its evolution, beginning from the ancient times right until the present day. The subsequent subject of our study is the epistemic value of religious symbols looked at in terms of their functions and meanings. In that aspect it is vital to verify the substance of a relationship between the symbol itself and the religious language, as well as to specify the said symbols based upon their essence and irreducible complexity.

    Jako integralna część liturgii homilia posiada całą jej dynamikę. Jest wpisana w nurt zstępujący liturgii oraz w jej nurt wstępujący, zwany latreutycznym. Prezentowany artykuł omawia implikacje wypływające z latreutycznego wymiaru homilii dla jej przygotowania i wygłoszenia oraz dla jej języka, treści i teologii. Jako hymn wdzięczności za magnalia Dei, homilia nie tylko poucza zgromadzonych, że oto spełnia się słowo Boże, które usłyszeli, ale także uwielbia Boga za jego wypełnienie. Zatem jej język powinien być zbliżony do języka modlitwy, a w swojej treści homilia powinna być bardziej kerygmatyczna niż katechetyczna, a także chrystocentryczna i mistagogiczna. Wtedy będzie pobudzała słuchaczy do oddania chwały Bogu przez modlitwę oraz ofiarę z własnego życia. Należy jednak pamiętać, że uwielbienie w homilii dokonuje się „przez Chrystusa, z Chrystusem i w Chrystusie”. To sam Chrystus jest tym, który uwielbia Ojca w Duchu Świętym, a homilista i jego słowa stają się jedynie narzędziami tego uwielbienia.
    As an integral part of the liturgy homily possesses all of her dynamic. It is inscribed in descending stream of the liturgy and in her ascending stream, described as latreutical. This article discusses the implications which flow from latreutical dimension of homily for her preparation and delivery, as well as for her language, contents and theology. As a hymn of gratitude for magnolia Dei, homily not only tells those assembled that God's word is fulfilled in their hearing, but also praises God for this fulfillment. Therefore homily's language should be congruous with the prayer's language, and in her contents homily should be more kerygmatic than catechetical, as well as christocentric and mistagogical. Then it will stimulate the faithful to give praise to God through prayer and sacrifice of their lives. It should be remembered that worship is being done „through Christ, with Christ and in Christ” within homily. It is Christ himself who praises Father in the Holy Spirit. Homilist himself and his words become only the instrument of this worship.

    Opracowanie „Pierwsze wydania mszału w języku polskim” rozpoczyna się od zarysowania kontekstu związanego z Ruchem liturgicznym, na podstawie którego pojawiło się pierwsze wydanie „Mszału rzymskiego dla użytku wiernych” w 1874 r. Dalej jest mowa o stopniowym wprowadzaniu języka polskiego do liturgii, zaczynając od 1961 r. Ten etap kończy się wydaniem „Mszału rzymskiego łacińsko-polskiego”, Paris 1968, w formie ołtarzowej. Ta księga była oparta na mszale potrydenckim, z którego pochodziły części zmienne, natomiast części stałe zawierały już zmiany dokonane po Soborze Watykańskim II. W 1970 r. ukazał się już Mszał Pawła VI w odnowionej formie. Drugie wydanie tej księgi pojawiło się w 1975 r. Ta edycja stała się podstawą do opracowania „Mszału rzymskiego dla diecezji polskich”, Poznań 1986. W między czasie został wydany mszał studyjny w 1979 r. Przy omawianiu zagadnień teologiczno-lingwistycznych są pokazane dyskusje dotyczące: długich zakończeń modlitw, Communicantes, per ipsum oraz „Panie nie jestem godzien”. Opracowanie przedstawia również kwestie wydawnicze związane z mszałem ołtarzowym z 1986 r. Ukazuje także przygotowania i druk samego mszału. Ostatnim tematem jest wydanie drugie poszerzone z 2009 r. i argumentacja przemawiająca za tą edycją.
    The elaboration ‘The first editions of the Missal in the Polish language’ starts with explaining the context, connected with the Liturgical Movement, thanks to which in 1874 there appeared the first edition of the ‘Roman Missal for the use of the faithful’. Next, it treats about the gradual introduction of the Polish national language into the liturgy, beginning in 1961. This stage ended with the publication of the ‘Latin-Polish Roman Missal’ (Paris 1968), in an altar form. This book was based on the Tridentine Missal, from which originated the propria missae, while ordinaria missae already contained changes intorduced after the Vaticanum II. In 1970 was published Paul VI’s Missal, in a renewed form. Second edition of this book appeared in the year 1975. This edition became the basis for the „Roman Missal for Polish dioceses’ (Poznań 1986). In the meantime a study missal was published in 1979. The section concerning theological-linguistic matters also treats about discussions concerning: the long endings of the orationes, Communicantes, per Ipsum as well as the ‘Domine, non sum dignus’. The elaboration also presents various editorial matters concerning the altar missal of 1986. It also treats about preparation and printing of the missal. The last topic is the second (and expanded) edition of 2009, and the arguments for this editio

    The paper comprehensively describes the history of saints Cyril and Methodius, Moravian mission and the creation of the Slavic alphabet, as well as outlines the main milestones of the Slavic written language formation in Bulgaria, Poland, Czech and Kievan Rus. The author puts forward the thesis that the sacred language created by the Solun brothers became the language of liturgy and homilies from the very beginning, as well as the language of theology, philosophy and hagiography. The history of the Cyril-Methodius tradition, spreading among the Western, Southern and Eastern Slavs, is presented in relation to the analysis of the ancient legends of the Holy brothers, as well as Bulgarian, Polish, Czech and Old Russian manuscripts and medieval chroniclers. The history of the Russian version of the Church Slavonic language is separately considered. The language role in Ancient Rus is analysed, taking into account the point of correlation between the Old Russian and Church Slavonic languages. The problem of the Church Slavonic evolution and functioning in South-Western and Moscow Rus is studied in detail, as well as the formation of a common all-Russian version of this language in the second half of the 17th century

    Opis:
    As to the growing popularity of the extraordinary form of the Roman rite and contradicting the new form, the author decided to share several reflections from the position of the researcher of liturgy and law. The article refers to some tendencies within the area of examining liturgy of the Roman-catholic Church, particularly to the lack of interest in the legal aspect of the analysis, which generates certain methodological problems. The author specially considers the issue of two forms of the Mass existing within one rite of the Roman-catholic Church. In order to examine it I suggest romanistic hermeneutics, that in - harmonious cooperation with theology and philosophy – it would allow to avoid methodological errors committed in decoding liturgical signs, which often becomes the reason of an artificial conflict between the followers of the new and the old rites.
    Wobec rosnącej popularności ekstraordynarnej formy obrządku rzymskiego i przeciwstawiania jej nowej formie, autor postanowił podzielić się kilkoma refleksjami z pozycji badacza liturgii i prawa. Artykuł dotyczy niektórych tendencji w obszarze badania liturgii Kościoła Rzymskokatolickiego, zwłaszcza braku zainteresowania aspektem prawnym w jej analizie, co powoduje pewne problemy metodologiczne. Autor uwzględnia szczególnie problem istnienia dwóch form Mszy św. w ramach jednego rytu (obrządku) Kościoła Rzymskokatolickiego. W celu jego zbadania proponuje hermeneutykę romanistyczną, pozwalającą w harmonijnej współpracy z teologią i filozofią, uniknąć błędów metodologicznych popełnianych w odczytaniu znaków liturgicznych, co jest często przyczyną sztucznego konfliktu między zwolennikami nowego i starego ordo.
