The paper presents contemporary developments in the field of deterministic description of turbulence with special reference to Large Eddy Simulation (LES) methods. The limitations of conventional turbulence modelling based on stochastic methodology have been discussed, and reasons for development of deterministic approach outlined. It has been shown that the computational power of the fastest available computers restrict possible DNS (Direct Numerical Simulation) solutions to the range of small Reynolds numbers. Finally, basic assumptions have been formulated for the LES formalism that seem to offer a reasonable compromise between the tendency towards the deterministic solution to Navier-Stokes equations and the existing computational resources.
Praca przedstawia współczesny stan wiedzy w dziedzinie numerycznego modelowania turbulencji ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem metody LES (ang. Large Eddy Simulation). Przedstawiono ograniczenia modeli turbulencji typu RANS, opartych o uśrednione w czasie równania Reynoldsa oraz wskazano perspektywy deterministycznego ujęcia turbulencji z użyciem metod DNS (ang. Direct Numerical Simulation). Wykazano również, że możliwości najszybszych dostępnych obecnie komputerów ograniczają możliwe obszary aplikacji DNS do przepływów o stosunkowo niskich liczbach Reynoldsa. Następnie sformułowano podstawowe zależności dla metod LES i wskazano ich perspektywiczne znaczenie dla inżynierskiego modelowania przepływów turbulentnych.

The suitability of existing models for the simulation of flow through turbomachines is investigated and compared with a recently proposed adaptive turbulence model. Discussed are the improvements in accuracy that can be achieved by using non-linear turbulence models and unsteady calculations. The adaptive turbulence model is based on two equation turbulence modeling. It uses the temporal and spatial scales of the flow field to automatically adapt itself to the unresolved turbulent fluctuations. At its asymptotic limits it reduces either to a Direct Numerical Simulation – when the turbulent scales are in the order of the Kolmogorov micro scale – or to a standard two equation model – when the fluctuations are not resolved at all. In order to compare the quality of the presented models two cases have been considered: the flow past a cylinder and a subsonic as well as transonic flow past the VKI turbine blade. Calculations have been performed for each case using all the models and the results have been compared with measurements. The unsteady calculations gave better agreement with the experimental data demonstrating the superiority over steady state calculations for turbomachines.

This article is devoted to structural-semantic research in French and Georgian languages. Every literary work determines the history of its country and nation, culture and tradition. In literary works with the use of different stylistic devices, topics, characters and historical facts are shown. Very often writers use Oïkonyms (oïkos from the Greek word meaning ‘house’ or-, ‘dwelling’) as the city’s name allows us to create a general view about a nation’s culture, art and history. Thus, Oïkonyms are the determinants of a topic and of important facts in literary works. Synchronous course of historical facts gives some meaning to the city names and their utilization in literary works creates an emotional background for the reader. In literary texts, Oïkonyms create a special effect as they cause profound and mysterious feelings. The readers’ imagination will determine the meanings of these feelings. Every writer uses the name of a city to create and to identify a concrete cognitive idea in a literary work. As a result, research into the use of Oïkonyms in the context of literary onomastics, with its variety, development and multilateral perception, is a developing field of research.
Chaque œuvre littéraire définit l’histoire des pays et des peuples, leur culture et leurs traditions. Les personnages, les sujets et les faits historiques des œuvres littéraires sont décrits par différentes méthodes stylistiques. Le fait historique se traduit souvent par les noms de lieux, notamment, les noms de villes qui permettent de créer un point de vue général sur la culture et l’histoire de la nation. Donc, en général, les noms de villes ont une importance significative pour le sujet d’une œuvre littéraire. Les écrivains se servent de noms de villes pour décrire le monde où se déroule la vie des personnages et exprimer leurs émotions, car il y a des villes dont les noms sont associés à des évènements significatifs, émotifs. La séquence des faits historiques redonne une importance particulière aux oïkonymes. Leur emploi dans la littérature peut susciter de l’émotion chez les lecteurs. Dans la littérature, les noms de villes ont une valeur particulière. Ils suscitent un sentiment profond et mystérieux, dont la perception dépend de l’imagination du lecteur. Chaque écrivain utilise les noms de villes ou ceux de lieux habités pour identifier son propre style ainsi que les idées cognitives décrites dans une œuvre littéraire concrète. Donc l’étude des noms de lieux, notamment, ceux de villes, à travers le prisme de l’onomastique littéraire comparée du français et du géorgien, avec leurs diversités de développement et de perception redondance de diversités attire l’attention des chercheurs.

The paper gives the results of the Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) and Large Eddy simulation (LES) which were performed to investigate the 3D transitional non-isothermal flows within a rotor/stator cavity. A Lagrangean version of the dynamic Smagorinsky eddy viscosity model was used. Computations were performed for the cavity of the aspect ratio L=3.0-5.0, curvature parameters Rm=1.8-5.0, for the Reynolds number Re=(1.0-2.5)105 and for defferent Prandtl numbers. The results were obtained for coupled momentum and thermal transport in the rotor/stator cavity flows. The obtained distributions of the turbulent heat flux tensor components, the Reynolds stress tensor components, the turbulent Prandtl numer and other structural parameters coincide with the experimental data (published in the literature).
W atykule przedstawiono wyniki symulacji przepływu (z wymianą ciepła) w obszarze pomiędzy stojanem i wirnikiem oraz dwoma pierścieniami uzyskane z zastosowaniem metod DNS i LES. Badania przeprowadzono dla rozciagłości obszaru L=3.0-5.0 oraz dla współczynnika krzywizny Rm=1.8-5.0. Badano struktury niestabilnościowe występujące w warstwie przyściennej wirnika i stojana oraz profile osiowe naprężeń reynoldsowskich, fluktuacji temperatury, turbulentnej liczby Prandtla, profile parametrów strukturalnych i korelacyjnych. Obliczenia przeprowadzono dla różnych liczb Reynoldsa i Prandtla. Uzyskane rozwiązania porównano z wynikami badań eksperymentalnych Elkinsa i Eatona (2000) uzyskanymi podczas badania przepływu wokół pojedynczego wirującego dysku podgrzewanego jednorodnym strumieniem. Rezultaty badań porównywano również z wynikami uzyskanymi dla dwuwymiarowych turbulentnych warstw przyściennych.

This study examines the role of topoi in the short story “Les Prisonniers” (The Prisoners) by Maupassant. For historical reasons, the notion of topos is preferred to that of the stereotype, as the latter indicates a manner of conceiving reality from a 20th century perspective (and thus posterior to Maupassant’s authorship). The analysis of the topoi shows that the author brings to play intertextual references linked to the tradition of the folktale and the short story. In foregrounding the story, Maupassant prepares two opposing scenarios. Following the transgressive plot, the initially dominant features of the story are overthrown. The functionality of the narrative elements, entering as units in an elaborated plot, leads to a view of the story primarily as a fictional construction playing with topoi, rather than as an expression of Maupassant’s stereotyped vision of reality.

L’article traite des émotions dans la publicité sociétale. En s’appuyant sur les exemples relevés dans un corpus de campagnes sociétales francophones, italiennes et polonaises, l’auteur analyse les émotions et les procédés esthétiques auxquels ont souvent recours les spécialistes de la publicité en question en vue d’intéresser, de toucher ou de bouleverser le destinataire du message.

L’article se penche sur le problème de la féminisation des noms de métiers et de titres en Pologne et sur la réception émotionnelle de certains termes. Les appellations prenant en compte le genre circulent déjà dans l’espace public et surtout dans certains milieux les moins conservateurs. Néanmoins, le manque de régulations officielles de cette féminisation, à l’exception d’un avis du Conseil de la langue polonaise de 2019, pourrait contribuer au rejet, chez certains usagers de la langue polonaise, des termes féminisés. Ce phénomène est visible sur les réseaux sociaux dans les commentaires émotionnels qui recourent à un lexique dévalorisant. Les conclusions de notre recherche préliminaire sont le fruit de l’analyse d’un corpus des commentaires postés en 2022 sous la campagne Facebook #wspieramfeminatywy lancée par le groupe bancaire français BNP Paribas en Pologne. Les auteurs soumettent à l’analyse des arguments des détracteurs de la féminisation en les comparant à ceux attestés dans l’espace francophone.
The article examines the problem of the feminisation of the names of professions and titles in Poland and their emotive reception. Gender-sensitive designations are already in use in the public sphere and especially in some circles that are less conservative. Nevertheless, the lack of official feminisation guidelines, if we do not take into account a 2019 opinion of the Polish Language Council, could contribute to a rejection of feminised terms by some users of the Polish language. This phenomenon is visible on social media in the emotional comments and in using devaluing vocabulary. The conclusions of our preliminary research are based on an analysis of comments posted in 2022 under the posts of Facebook campaign #wspieramfeminatywy, elaborated by the French banking group Parisbas in Poland. The authors submit to analysis the arguments of the detractors of feminisation by comparing them to those attested in the French-speaking world.

The aim of the project was to collect experimental data regarding local distributions of fluid velocity and inert tracer concentration in a tank reactor with turbulent flow. The experiments were performed in a microscale in a region of tracer fluid injection. The end of the First World War saw a rebirth of the Polish state, but with indeterminate borders. As a result of a conflict between Poland and Czechoslovakia about Cieszyn Silesia, in February 1919 this area, including the town of Cieszyn, was temporarily divided (its part on the left bank of the Olza went to Czechoslovakia). Similarly, after the Second World War the new Polish-German border ran along the Lusatian Nysa and Oder rivers. Also in this case several split towns were created (including Görlitz-Zgorzelec, Gubin-Guben, and Frankfurt on the Oder – Słubice). Besides, despite the strong dividing /separating function of the border, some of the towns with border crossings started to expand towards the state border (e.g. Kudowa-Zdrój and Nachod). After the political transformation of the late 1980s and early ‘90s, split and border towns experienced significant changes in their demographic structures as well as in their economies and services. Thus, they started developing various complementary functions (especially shopping and some services) for the residents of the other side of the border. Demographic changes are most readily visible in the German parts of the split towns, in which shrinkage has accelerated after the unification of Germany. This process involves, among other things, a heavy outflow of inhabitants, primarily young and better educated, to western lands and a steep slump in the total fertility rate. Still, the most important changes observed in the split towns over the last two decades have been consumer behaviour patterns determined, among other things, by differences in prices in the neighbouring states. They involve frequent crossings of the state border to buy goods and services cheaper than in the home town. The chief places intended to serve consumers from the other side of the border are mostly bazaars (on the Polish side) and a network of specialised service facilities.
En effet des changements des frontières dans la première moitié du XXe siècle tout près des frontières à l’ouest et au sud de la Pologne sept villes divisées ont apparu. Dans les années 1945–1989, les contacts économiques entres les villes situées de deux côtés de la frontière ont été difficiles. En se basant sur les recherches effectuées dans les années 1990–2010 on a constaté qu’à la suite des changements politiques de la fin des années 80 et du début des années 90 dans les villes divisées ont eu lieu les modifications importantes dans la structure démographique ainsi que dans l’économie et les services. Ces villes ont commencé, entre autres, à développer les différentes fonctions complémentaires (en particulier dans le domaine du commerce et dans certains services), adressées aux habitants de l’autre côté de la frontière.

Opis:
The paper presents the results of LES simulation of two different turbulent channels with inlet conditions corresponding to the Reynolds number Re =395. In both cases a varying pressure gradient was obtained by an adequate curvature of one of the walls. The first case is treated as a benchmark and is used to validate the numerical procedure. This case is characterized by the same cross-section area at the inlet and outlet and a bump of a smooth profile located on one of the walls designed to be identical to the one used in the experiment conducted at Laboratorie de Mecanique de Lille (LML) (Marquillie et al., 2008). The second case corresponds to the geometry which reproduces the real geometry of the turbomachinery test section of the Czestochowa University of Technology. The test section was created in such a way as to produce the pressure gradient which would correspond to the conditions present in the axial compressor blade channel. The shape of both channels produced initially favorable (FPG) and then adverse pressure gradients (APG), and in this way created conditions for boundary layer separation. Due to a reverse flow where the turbulence transport is dictated by the dynamics of the large-scale eddies such a case is well suited to demonstrate predictive features of the LES technique.
