    Opis:
    W artykule poruszam problem daty transumowania dłuższej wersji dokumentu fundacyjnego klasztoru cystersów w Lądzie, tzw. egzemplarza kolońskiego. Wydaje się, że można przyjąć rok 1261 jako datę jego sporządzenia i konfirmowania majątku opactwa. W dalszej części artykułu staram się pokazać, jak mnisi lędzcy potwierdzali swój majątek i uprawnienia w trakcie procesu z mieszkańcami Dolan w początkach XIV w.
    The article investigates the problem of when the longer version of the apparent foundation charter, the so-called Köln version was transumed. In my view, it is possible to date it at 1261, which is the date of its fabrication and confirmation of the monastery properties. Later, in my article, I am trying to show how Ląd monks had their properties and privileges confirmed during the trial with the Dolany inhabitants at the beginning of the 14th century.

    In the post-Cistercian Abbey in Ląd-on-Warta a unique monument testifying to the com-memoration of the deceased brothers and, at the same time, illustrating the historical tradition of Cistercian Abbeys in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, namely Tabula Memorialis, has been preserved till our times. and feature the abbreviations: RR. PP. VV. Fr. (Reverendi Patres Venerendi Fra-tres) accompanied by the Latin name of a respective Cistercian Abbey. The Abbeys come in the fol-lowing order: 1. Ląd, 2. Jędrzejów, 3. Wągrowiec, 4. Oliwa, 5. Sulejów, 6. Wąchock, 7. Koprzywnica, 8. Mogiła, 9. Obra, 10. Paradyż, 11. Szczyrzyc, 12. Koronowo, 13. Bledzew, 14. Pelplin. The squares in each row are covered with a wooden lid that can be pulled out showing a pair of vanitative em-blems painted against a cinnabar background. Each representation is accompanied by a banderole with a commentary. Tabula Memorialis was made in ca. 1745 to celebrate the 600th anniversary of the Ląd Abbey foundation. Its composition presents two content layers: a didactic one dedicated to the reflection on death (meditatio mortis, ars moriendi), and the historical one: presenting the foundation of 14 Cistercian Abbeys in the Polish Cistercian Province and promoting Ląd as the oldest one among them in Poland. Tabula Memorialis served for the ceremony of absolution of the dead during their collective recollection conducted in the chapter house.

    Jan Zapolski (1619–1689) herbu Pobóg w 1643 r. został opatem cysterskiego opactwa w Lądzie; wcześniej był kanonikiem katedry krakowskiej i sekretarzem króla Władysława IV. W 1661 r. kapituła cysterskiej prowincji wybrała go wikariuszem generalnym i komisarzem Polskiej Prowincji Cystersów, pełnił ten urząd przez 28 lat – do śmierci. W styczniu 1651 r. opat Zapolski podpisał z architektem Tomassem Poncinem kontrakt na remont i rozbudowę gotyckiego klasztornego kościoła w Lądzie. Konflikt z niesumiennym architektem i proces sądowy zatrzymały tę inwestycję. W 1679 r. Zapolski zdecydował się wznieść w Lądzie nowy kościół według planów królewskiego architekta Giuseppe Simone Bellottiego. Do 1687 r. zbudowano prezbiterium i transept nowego kościoła. Sklepienia udekorowały stiuki wykonane przez włoskich sztukatorów według projektu Bellotiego, w prezbiterium ustawiono stalle – dzieło warsztatu brata Bartłomieja Adriana. Prawdopodobnie w 1687 r. powstał portret Jana Zapolskiego, na którym opat trzyma plan nowego kościoła w Lądzie. Autorem portretu jest prawdopodobnie cysterski malarz Łukasz Latkowski. Portret ten stał się wzorem dla innych wizerunków: portretu trumiennego Zapolskiego (1689); jego wizerunku w Sali Opackiej klasztoru (1722); portretu opata Mikołaja A. Łukomskiego (1747).
    Jan Zapolski (1619–1689) of the Pobóg coat of arms in 1643 became the abbot of the Cistercian abbey in Ląd; previously he was a canon of the Krakow cathedral and secretary of King Władysław IV. In 1661 the Cistercian chapter of the province elected him vicar general and commissars of the Polish Cistercian Province, he held this office for 28 years – until his death. In January 1651 abbot Zapolski signed a contract with the architect Tomasso Poncino for the renovation and expansion of the Gothic monastery church in Ląd. The conflict with the unscrupulous architect and the lawsuit stopped this investment. In 1679 Zapolski decided to build a new church in Ląd according to the plans of the royal architect Giuseppe Simone Bellotti. Until 1687 the presbytery and the transept of the new church were built. The vaults were decorated with stuccoes made by Italian stucco makers according to the design of Bellotti (figs. 3–4); stalls were placed in the presbytery - the work of the workshop of brother Bartholomew Adrian (fig. 5). Probably in 1687 a portrait of Jan Zapolski was created (fig. 2), on which the abbot holds a card with a plan for a new church in Ląd. The author of the portrait is probably the Cistercian painter Łukasz Latkowski. This portrait became a model for other images: the coffin portrait of Zapolski (1689; fig. 8), his image in the Abbey Hall (Sala Opacka) of the monastery (1722; fig. 9); portrait of abbot Mikołaj A. Łukomski (1747; fig. 10).

    W artykule przedstawiono hipotezę przeobrażeń elewacji wschodniej klauzury opactwa cysterskiego w Lądzie. Opracowano ją na podstawie badań architektonicznych prowadzonych w 2019 roku przez zespół przy Wydziale Architektury Politechniki Wrocławskiej kierowany przez autorkę. Wydzielono cztery zasadnicze fazy przekształceń elewacji. We wczesnym gotyku zbudowano dwukondygnacyjną ścianę, później ją podwyższono i dobudowano przedłużenie zakrystii. Kolejna faza gotycka to rozbudowa elewacji w kierunku południowym, a barokowa – podwyższenie i zmiana wystroju. Artykuł zakończono stwierdzeniem, że wiele zagadnień związanych zwłaszcza z datowaniem omawianej elewacji wymaga dalszych prac badawczych.
    The article presents a hypothesis of transformations of the eastern façade of the Cistercian abbey’s enclosure in Ląd. It was developed on the basis of architectural research conducted in 2019 by a team of the Faculty of Architecture of the Wrocław University of Technology headed by the author. There were four main phases in the façade’s transformations. In the early Gothic, a two-storey high wall was built, later it was raised, and the sacristy extension was added. The next gothic phase was the extension of the façade to the south, and the baroque one - raising and changing the decor. The article concludes with the statement that many issues related to the dating of the façade in particular require further research.

    This article is the fourth of a series entitled “The Post-Cistercian Abbey in Lad as A Cultural Center”. The first and the second articles were published in “Seminare” Vol. 35, No. 3 and 4 in 2014, the third essay appeared in “Seminare” Vol. 36, No. 1 in 2015. This essay presents a résumé of the whole research conducted between September 4th and October 4th, 2013. The research results reveal the existence of a great interest in the monument and set new directions for future cultural proposals. The article points to the need of further research concerning children and youth as this age group was only marginally represented in the research. Primary school children and young people constitute an important part of all visitors to the monastery in Lad.

    Opis:
    Founded in the 12th century, the post-Cistercian Abbey in Ląd is a monument of great im-portance for Polish and European cultural heritage. It is marked for its significant historical, artistic and educational valour. This article opens a series of publications presenting a scientific research on the cultural activities and programs provided for tourists visiting the Abbey. The goal of the article is to gather information about that offer and assess the opinions of tourists on the issue. The research was conducted for a month (4.08 – 4.09.2013). 725 people participated in it answering a 10-point questionnaire. This article presents conclusions based on the answers to the first four questions. Ac-cording to the results, the most attractive cultural offer is visiting the church and the monastery as well as participation in the Festival of Slavic and Cistercian Culture. Further results will be presented successively in next publications.

    W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań konserwatorskich zawierających analizę materiałów, technik oraz technologii, przy użyciu których wykonano mury historycznego opactwa Cystersów w Lądzie. Badania wykonano w lipcu 2019 roku. Obejmowały zewnętrzną elewację budynku klauzury. Bezpośrednią motywacją badań były konieczne do przeprowadzenia prace remontowe. Przedstawione zostały wyniki badań stopnia zawilgocenia oraz zasolenia murów. Uzyskane wyniki badań są podstawą do doboru technologii oraz materiałów naprawczych (tynków, zapraw, powłok malarskich). Za kryterium doboru materiału naprawczego przyjęto kompatybilność z materiałem konstrukcji naprawianej, aktywność naprawy oraz trwałość naprawy w czasie. Na przykładzie prac remontowych klauzury będącej częścią opactwa cysterskiego omówiono wybrane zagadnienia, dotyczące diagnostyki, projektowania i naprawy zabytkowej elewacji.
