Opis:
The article examines the development of recreational activities in the Kyiv agglomeration (metropolitan area) since the 1960s as exemplified by cottage development. The authors use methods of statistical and cartographic analysis and synthesis to take stock of and evaluate the spatial distribution of recreation activities over the reference period. The current state of the recreational use of the area is based on field research conducted by the authors. The article identifies stages of development and the effect of the basic patterns of the spatial distribution of recreational activity at each stage as well as areas of possible development.

The article describes the relations of Ukrainian and Russian political and religious authorities concerning recovery of stauropegic in Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. The article also deals with preservation of law and freedom of printing in Lavra printing house, also the role of individual historical personalities in these matters – Hetman Ivan Mazepa, Archimandrite Varlaam Yasinsky, Patriarch Joachim. The basis of the research became materials found in Russian State Archive of Ancient Acts.
В статье рассмотрены отношения украинских и российских политических и духовных властей в вопросах восстановления ставропигии Киево‑Печерской лавры, сохранения права и свободы книгопечатания в лаврской типографии, роли отдельных исторических личностей в этих вопросах – гетмана Ивана Мазепы, архимандрита Варлаама Ясинского, патриарха Иоакима. Основой исследования стали материалы Российского государственного архива древних актов.

The Shaping of Polish Identity in the “Dziennik Kijowski” in 1914-1916The First World War was a real catalyst for the shaping of national identities in Eastern Europe. Like all wars, it aroused discussions about the future of peoples caught up in the conflict, especially those who did not possess their own statehood. The Polish nation was among them. How did its political elite respond to the beginning of the Great War in Europe, what was discussed and what topics raised by the Polish newspapers, how Poland’s future and Polish identity was seen and determined at that time? In this article I try to answer these questions by analyzing political, social and literary materials in the Polish daily Dziennik Kijowski published in Kyiv in 1906-1920. Based on archival sources, publications of the Dziennik, analysis of the censuses, and historiography, this publication depicts the “Polish Kyiv”, reflects on various opinions about the newspaper’s editorial policies during the war, and defines the main topics that were elaborated by the Dziennik in 1914-1916 regarding Polish identity issues. During this period the newspaper, as well as the majority of members of the Polish community in Kyiv, was loyal to the Russian authorities. At the same time, the Dziennik Kijowski constantly reminded its readers what the Polish identity meant not only by the mere fact that the newspaper was published in the Pollish language, but also by the Polish matters as the contents of its columns. Kształtowanie polskości na łamach „Dziennika Kijowskiego” w latach 1914-1916Pierwsza wojna światowa stała się prawdziwym katalizatorem kształtowania tożsamości narodowych w Europie Wschodniej. Jak każda inna wojna wywoływała ona dyskusje o przyszłości narodów wciągniętych w konflikt, zwłaszcza tych, które nie posiadały swojej państwowości. Do takich narodów wówczas należał również naród polski. W jaki sposób polskie elity polityczne zareagowały na początek Wielkiej Wojny w Europie, o czym dyskutowano i jakie tematy poruszano na łamach prasy polskiej, jak widziano przyszłość Polski i określano polskość w tym okresie? W artykule spróbowałam udzielić odpowiedzi na te pytania, analizując materiały „Dziennika Kijowskiego”, codziennego polskiego pisma politycznego, społecznego i literackiego, wychodzącego w Kijowie w latach 1906-1920. Na podstawie źródeł archiwalnych, publikacji z „Dziennika”, analizy spisów ludności, historiografii nakreśliłam wizerunek „polskiego Kijowa” i ukazałam różnorakie opinie o orientacji wydawnictwa w czasie wojny, jak również główne tematy poruszane na łamach „Dziennika” dotyczące problematyki kształtowania tożsamości polskiej w latach 1914-1916. W badanym okresie „Dziennik Kijowski”, podobnie jak większość przedstawicieli społeczności polskiej w Kijowie, był lojalny wobec władz rosyjskich. Niemniej, nie tylko poprzez język wydania, ale też przez zawartość odpowiednich rubryk ciągłe przypominał czytelnikom o tym, czym jest polskość.

Panegyric works and their connection with the Kyiv monasteries in the context of the relations between the Hetmanate and the Moscow kingdom in the early 18th century. The eulogies which are dedicated to Prince Alexander Menshikov and originate from the Kyiv monastery environment – in particular, the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra and the Kyiv Brotherhood Monastery are discussed and compared in the article. The circumstances of the origin of these works, the peculiarities and motivation of the dedications, rhetorical figures and their significance in the respective historical and political context have also been analysed. Panegyrics were inscribed in the paradigm of Ukrainian-Russian relations in the early 18th century. A little-known work attributed to Theophanes Prokopovych is also published in the appendices.

In order to investigate the book fairs participants’ attitude to such events and to use their potential with the professional purpose the second wave of sociological investigation was carried out in Kyiv. According to the survey of 44 respondents in 8 major cities in Ukraine, which carry on publishing, book business and printing activity, we defined a set of participants interests and needs, evaluation criteria and level of satisfaction. In particular, the subject of the investigation were: frequency, regularity and geography of participants, the main criteria for choice and evaluation of book fair, exhibitors’ purpose and main tasks, sources from which the participants got information about the fairs and preparation time for participation. On the base of evaluation the communicative, marketing, organizational components and exhibitors success has been formed an original rating of book fairs and exhibitions in Ukraine. Numerous practical advices to the participants and organizers of book fairs have been given for providing further competition and in order to create a successful book market.
W celu zbadania stosunku uczestników targów książki do tych wydarzeń oraz wykorzystania ich potencjału w branży, przeprowadzono w Kijowie drugi etap badania socjologicznego. Na podstawie wyników ankiety zrealizowanej w grupie 44 respondentów z 8 wielkich miast Ukrainy, w których działa branża wydawnicza, handel książką i poligrafia, zdefiniowano wspólne zainteresowania i potrzeby uczestników, kryteria oceny i poziom ich satysfakcji. Przedmiotem badania były m. in.: perio-dyczność, systematyczność i geografia udziału, podstawowe kryteria oce-ny i wyboru targów, cel i podstawowe zadania wystawców, źródła uzyska-nia informacji o targach oraz czas przygotowania do udziału w targach. Na podstawie oceny części komunikacyjnej, marketingowej i organiza-cyjnej oraz efektywności działalności wystawców ułożono swoisty ranking targów książki na Ukrainie. Uczestnicy i organizatorzy targów uzyskali praktyczne rekomendacje w dalszej działalności na rynku i rozwijania rynku książki, takie jak: zmiana nacisku i kryteriów wyboru targów, zwiększenie poziomu zawodowego uczestników i organizatorów, bardziej efektywne wykorzystanie baz danych i zawartości strony internetowej targów książki.

INTRODUCTION Ixodes tick-borne borreliosis are the most widespread natural foci diseases on the European continent. The clinical manifestation of the illness is determined by the Borrelia species which infects humans. The purpose of the study is to define the Borrelia species that circulate in biotic objects on the territory of the Kyiv Oblast to optimize laboratory and clinical diagnostics of Ixodes tick-borne borreliosis. MATERIALS AND METHODS The Ixodes ticks were collected in different areas of the Kyiv Oblast. The tick suspensions to detect B. burgdorferi sensu lato were investigated using the real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR-RT). The PCR agarose gel method for genotyping of the positive samples of B. burgdorferi s.s., B. afzelii, B. garinii was employed. RESULTS Forty-three (11.31 ± 0.25%) positive pools of investigated ticks with Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato complex have been determined. The average ratio of Borrelia infected ticks is 1.21 ± 0.03%. The Ixodes ricinus has been treated as the main vector of Borrelia in this area. The Borrelia species have been identified in 27 tick pools. For the first time, the presence of B. afzelii (90 ± 12.14%) and B. garinii (10 ± 0.91%) have been found in the Kyiv Oblast. CONCLUSION Borrelia burgdorferi s. l. is endemic in the Kyiv Oblast where the main vector of agents is Ixodes ricinus. B. afzelii and B. garinii are the dominant Borrelia species in biotic objects.
WSTĘP Odkleszczowy typ boreliozy jest najbardziej rozpowszechniony na terytorium kontynentu europejskiego. Objawy kliniczne choroby uzależnione są od odmiany Borrelii, którą został zainfekowany człowiek. Celem pracy było zdefiniowanie odmian Borrelii, które krążą w obiektach biotycznych na terytorium Obwodu Kijowskiego dla optymalizacji diagnostyki laboratoryjnej i klinicznej odkleszczowego typu boreliozy. MATERIAŁY I METODY Kleszcze rodzaju Ixodes zebrano na różnych obszarach Obwodu Kijowskiego, sporządzono z nich zawiesinę. Zawiesina była badana w trakcie badania reakcji łańcuchowej polimerazy w czasie rzeczywistym (PCR-RT), pod względem obecności B. burgdorferi sensu lato. Przeprowadzono badanie PCR z wykorzystaniem żelu agarowego dla genotypowania pozytywnych próbek B. burgdorferi s.s., B. afzelli, B. garinii. WYNIKI Wykryto 43 (11,31 ± 0,25%) pozytywnych próbek badanych kleszczy pod względem obecności Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato. Średnia zainfekowanych kleszczy wyniosła (1,21 ± 0,03%). Wykazano, iż Ixodes ricinus jest głównym wektorem Borrelii na tym terytorium. Odmiany Borrelii zostały zidentyfikowane w 27 próbkach kleszczowych. Po raz pierwszy w Obwodzie Kijowskim stwierdzono obecność B. afzelli (90 ± 12,14%) oraz B. garinii (10 ± 0,91%). WNIOSKI Obwód Kijowski jest endemicznym w stosunku do Borrelia burgdorferi s.l., gdzie głównym wektorem czynników chorobotwórczych jest Ixodes ricinus. Dominującymi odmianami Borrelii w obiektach biotycznych dla różnych regionów są B. afzelli oraz B. garinii.

In the article an influence of sacred art on Ukrainian painting of the late twentieth century, as exemplified by works of NAFAA teachers, was studied. In the professional literature, an idea was established that Ukrainian art, including painting, in the late twentieth century is closely connected with popular art and folklore, sometimes it is also about the influences of fine arts of previous epochs. Herewith, the influence of sacred art on the formation of a new art is mentioned only cursorily or its significance is completely neutralized. The goal of the work was, first of all, to determine the influence of sacred art on the creation of Kyiv painters in the late twentieth century. To achieve the targeted goal the works of painters, who were representatives of different generations and different stylistic trends, were reviewed and formally analyzed. The pieces of art presented in the work give grounds to state that the influence of sacred art on the formation of Kyiv painting is significantly underestimated. Even a cursory overview of the works suggests that sacred art responded not only narratively. Artists examined and actively used icon-painting and composition building, turned to specific recognizable images and combined them with modern themes. In the study, a special attention is paid to M.A. Storozhenko, the founder of the Department of Sacred Painting, who was not only a prominent artist, but also a teacher, and he managed to educate a number of artists who continue the work of the mentor, teaching sacred painting to a new generation of artists.

In the interwar period western and eastern parts of the modern-day Ukraine were included into two countries – the Second Polish Republic and the Soviet Union. The development of cities of modern-day Ukraine during 1920-30th took place according to various ideological and cultural models. Changes in “cultural models” and ideological guidelines, as well as the departure from forms of traditional society during that period can be viewed as associated but semantically inconsistent targets; those carried out in each region in different sociopolitical conditions and with different directions of socio-cultural transformations; those that can be seen most clearly in the spatial planning of the cities. Approaches to the planning of Western Ukrainian cities, based on the synthesis of historically formed traditional environment, identified urban environment as European integral element of globalization process and were interpreted as an idea, alternative to socialistic internationalism that was consistently implemented in the Soviet Ukraine at that time. The process of formation of national and collective identity was visualized by “blending” and modernization of architectural environment layers, entry or expulsion of architectural sites of different ages, which symbolized the socio-cultural changes, both were part of the interaction of social and cultural systems.

In the paper polemics of the Uniate theologian Pachomius Voyna-Oranskyy with catholic Kasian Sakovich, which occurred in the 40s of XVIIth century in Rich Pospolyta has been reviewed. Purpose. The aim of the article is to research the polemics of Pachomius Voyna-Oranskyy with Kasian Sakovich in the work “Zwierciadło albo zaslona naprzeciw uszczypliwey Perspektywie”. To analyze stylistic elements, figures of speech used by the author. Methods. There have been used historical and cultural (the work of Pachomius Voyna-Oranskyy is analyzed in the context of church and social relations of that time), descriptive (the contents of the book of Uniate author have been revealed, the main questions of religious polemics have been pointed out), hermeneutics (it is described the ways of interpretation of the Bible) methods. Results. Pachomius Voyna-Oranskyy wrote the book “Zwierciadło albo zaslona naprzeciw uszczypliwey Perspektywie” as a response to the work of Kasian Sakovich “Epanorthosis abo Perspectiwa”, in which the catholic author criticizes the Uniate hierarchy for keeping to the rituals of Orthodox Church. The polemicist, denying the statements of catholic theologian, characterizes the dogmas of Kyiv Uniate Church, accentuates the ritual concordance with the practices of Catholic Church. In his work the author uses metaphors, antitheses, evaluative epithets, rhetorical modes.

Artykuł prezentuje uwagi na temat roli dwóch miast w życiu i twórczości Bolesława Leśmiana. Istotnym punktem odniesienia są listy poety, pisane do Zenona Przesmyckiego. Ich analiza pozwala zrozumieć, jak atmosfera miasta, przestrzeń, kulturowa działalność wpłynęły na życiowe i artystyczne wybory autora Sadu rozstajnego. Kijów – ze swoją specyfiką, historią – był dla Leśmiana swoistym locus coeruleus. Poeta nie mógł zaakceptować atmosfery stagnacji, szukał więc alternatyw, pragnął zmian. Wbrew pozorom miasto to odegrało jednak istotną twórczą rolę. Barwna Ukraina, duchowość znalazły interesujące odniesienie m.in. w cyklach poezji (Oddaleńcy, Aniołowie). Inną rolę odegrał Paryż, który olśnił poetę nowoczesnością, ruchem, gwarem, tajemnicą. Leśmian, który większość tomów poetyckich opublikował w dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym, był symbolistą równie doskonałym jak francuscy poeci (np. Stefan Mallarmé, Oskar Miłosz).
The article presents comments on the role of two cities in the life and work of Bolesław Leśmian. An important point of reference are the poet’s letters to Zenon Przesmycki. Their analysis allows us to understand how the atmosphere of the city, space and cultural activities influenced the life and artistic choices of the author of Sad Rozstajny. Kyiv – with its specificity and history, was a kind of locus coeruleus for Leśmian. The poet could not accept the atmosphere of stagnation, so he looked for alternatives, he wanted changes. Contrary to appearances, the city played an important, creative role. Colorful Ukraine and spirituality found an interesting reference in e.g. in poetry cycles (Distants, Angels). A different role was played by Paris, which dazzled the poet with its modernity, movement, bustle and mystery. Leśmian, who published most of his volumes of poetry in the interwar period, was a symbolist as perfect as the French poets (e.g. Stefan Mallarmé, Oskar Miłosz).

Opis:
The article has systematized and analyzed the digital indicators of the evolution of the eparchial women’s colleges, which existed in the Russian Empire in the late 19th and early 20th centuries on the basis of the reports of the Chief Prosecutor of the Holy Synod. This made it possible to distinguish the main characteristics of the women’s education level, both secular and religious, as well as to go far beyond the study of the history of separate educational institutions of the spiritual ministry, to avoid a regional approach to the coverage of eparchial women’s education. The analysis of the digital indicators and the corresponding calculations gave the possibility to reveal the dynamics of the increase in the number of women’s colleges in eparchies throughout the country and the increase in the number of students in eparchial colleges. The general development of women’s religious education has shown that the Kyiv eparchy had the highest rates in this sphere. Furthermore, eparchial women’s colleges in Kyiv were more open to representatives of other social classes.
Na podstawie sprawozdania oberprokuratora Świątobliwego Synodu artykuł systematyzuje i analizuje liczbowe wskaźniki rozwoju eparchialnych szkół dla kobiet, które funkcjonowały pod koniec XIX i na początku XX w. w Imperium Rosyjskim. Pozwoliło to wyodrębnić główne cechy edukacji dla kobiet wywodzących się ze stanu duchownego, a także wyjść poza badanie historii poszczególnych placówek oświatowych Seminarium Duchownego, uniknąć regionalnego podejścia do eparchialnej edukacji dla kobiet. Analiza wspomnianych wskaźników i wykonanie odpowiednich obliczeń pozwoliło określić dynamikę wzrostu liczby szkół dla kobiet w eparchiach całego kraju oraz wzrostu liczby uczniów szkół eparchialnych.

Opis:
Significant development of monastic construction in the Naddnipryanshchyna (the Dnipro Ukraine), Livoberezhzhia (the Left-bank Ukraine) and Slobozhanshchyna (Sloboda Ukraine) during the time of the Hetmanate had a solid socio-political background, the main of which was the liberation from the national and religious oppression and the formation of statehood. The economic conditions were no less important. The economic power of the monasteries allowed to rebuild the ancient monasteries, which already had brick buildings, rebuilt the ancient monasteries that were entirely wooden to the masonry ones. The subject of the formation of stone building on the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in the 17th -18th centuries is of exceptional interest for research, as it is the only architectural ensemble, united by unique monuments, which has no analogues in the Ukrainian architecture.

Opis:
Purpose. To research the contents of polemic of uniate theologian Elijah Morochowski with Meletiy Smotrycki in the work “Paregoria albo utulenie uszczypliwego lamentu mniemaney Cerkwie Swiętey Wschodniey zmyślonego Theophila Ortologa”, concerned the question of primacy of the Pope. Methods. In the article it is used the historical and cultural, hermeneutics, comparative methods. Results. The polemical works of Elijah Morochowski reveal the importance of the primacy of the Pope in religious controversy in Rich Pospolyta in XVI‒XVII centuries. The report deals with the different ways of interpretations of the historical figures, events, the rules of Church councils by the uniate theologian Elijah Morochowski and apologist of orthodox church Meletiy Smotrycki. It is researched the cultural contacnts catholics, uniates with the orthodox theologians in the Rich Pospolyta, that is fixed in polemical texts of Ukrainian, Polish literatures. It is analyzed the sources of argumentation, the ways of communication of the controversialist with the opponent, pointed to means of persuasion, the methods of interpretation of Holy Bible.
