    The issue of determining punctuation of former periods’ compositions in preparation for a critical edition is complicated and arises problems often difficult to solve univocally. This article treats of such situations based on Ignacy Krasicki’s poems, proposes solutions justified by the analysis of the text’s meanings and also points at situations where alternative versions are permissible. The reasoning arrives at a conclusion on editor’s work including punctuation, as endeavors of interpretative nature that are important for the understanding of a text and of its meanings.

    Ignacy Krasicki was not merely the most distinguished writer of the Polish Enlightenment, but also “the prince of poets” − to use a phrase from the period. He occupied a prominent position in the hierarchy of the Catholic Church, as the bishop of the Warmia region in north-eastern Poland and archbishop of Gniezno. He was a passionate and highly competent art collector. His collection included numerous and diversified works of art: pieces of sculpture, painting, drawing and engraving. Moreover, Krasicki was a dedicated gardener. His episcopal residence at Lidzbark (Heilsberg) in Warmia was surrounded by an exquisite English garden. According to many of his contemporaries, it was the most beautiful garden in this part of Poland, if not in Europe. Krasicki’s passion for gardening was, in part, a result of his family roots in landed gentry. But, unquestionably, it was also due to the fashion of the period. His garden, surrounding what used to be a castle of the Teutonic Knights, was, in a certain measure, a retreat for Krasicki, an exile (after the first partition of Poland Krasicki became a Prussian subject). In Polish history he was one of the first spiritual predecessors of the great exiles and expatriates from the period of Romanticism. Last but not least, his Warmian garden was a realm of beauty which is created like a grand lyric.

    The books and articles devoted to Bishop Ignacy Krasicki published up till now have focused almost exclusively on his literary output and left out his pastoral and administrative activities. But from December 1766 to May 1795 he was the Bishop of the Warmia Diocese and for the next six years the Gniezno Archbishop. In that period he fulfilled all the functions resulting from his teacher's, priestly and pastoral power. He gave sermons very often: not only in his own diocese but also during national ceremonies. He was a very good orator who willingly quoted fragments of the Holy Writ, explained dogmatic issues and pointed to their application in everyday life. Bishop Krasicki also performed all the duties resulting from his priestly power. Documents have been preserved that confirm the fact that he celebrated Holy Masses and administered sacraments, especially the sacraments of confirmation and of priesthood (reserved for the bishop). However, most information that has been preserved concerns fulfilling his pastoral function. In the Warmia Diocese Archive the protocols are kept of about 50 general inspections of parishes that he himself carried out. He also consecrated 10 churches. He issued nomination documents for parish priests and for curates. After the Jesuit Order had been dissolved he made efforts that aimed at enabling Jesuits to work in the reformed schools. In 1771 he sent a relation concerning the state of his diocese (relatio status) to the Holy See. Until 1772 Bishop Krasicki was also the governor of the dominion in the Warmia Diocese, that is, he exercised the secular power on a defined territory. It was his prerogative to appoint lay clerks who took care of the properties and the subjects. Within the King's Prussia the Bishop of Warmia acted as the chairman of the Prussian states. However, when Warmia was occupied by Prussia, Krasicki lost his dominion and became the Prussian King's subject; he received his annual salary from the King.

    The author of the article demonstrates the ways of functioning of the biography, intellectual thought and work of Ignacy Krasicki in the literature of the second half of the nineteenth century. References to the literary, ideological and biographical heritage of the poet by positivists and modernists reveal Krasicki’s importance to culture and literature during the second half of the 19th century. The basic goal is to extract from different texts (poet’s biographies, portraits, profiles, studies, synthetic approaches as well as literature - poetry, novels, drama) written by writers, critics and historians of Polish literature, positivism and modernism of modes of references to the shape and heritage of the prince’s poets. The return of positivists and modernists to Krasicki means the possibility of diagnosing one’s own present, and also facilitates defining the identity of culture with its limitations and deficits

    In her study the author presents a less well-known fact from Ignacy Krasicki's biography, basing on rich source materials. Step by step, the article shows how, despite strong family bonds, the roads of Krasicki and of the Rzewuski family parted. The latter family, during the Four-Year Seym, started activities opposing King Stanisław August Poniatowski and the reform camp. The article puts in a new light the issues of Krasicki's involvement in Poland's political life as well as his personal beliefs and likings.

    According to the opinion of majority of literature historians Mikołaja Doświadczyńskiego przypadki is widely known as the first modern-times Polish novel. The realism and probability principles, which are characteristic of the above mentioned modern times, are broken by utopian idealism in chapter II, in which action takes place on Nipu island. It seems that Nipu reality might be considered in categories of realism and probability, as the chapter is analyzed in the context to the story line of the whole book. Krasicki, as he wrote about Thomas Moore, defined utopia as a political project for future. Nipu citizens, as fugitives from the Conquest, live happy lives in isolation preserving past reality.

    Opis:
    Formal logic and critical thinking are complementary tools in research of literary texts. Critical thinking is especially useful in the case of works which are antinomic in character as they are based on disputable ironic meeting points. Ignacy Krasicki’s satires are such type of text. A special difficulty is posed by the interpretation of Journey of a Warmian bishop, as the work read separately and with the use of particular contexts assumes ambiguous meanings. The application of the methodology of critical thinking, which is based on multisided approach to text, leads to the conclusion that primary law of classical logic, the law of excluded middle, does not apply. Journey is a dialogic work, even though ideological reasons for and against foreign travels are not equal.

    The qualification – poem ‘To the king’ is a panegyric - it is conditioned not so much by the text of Krasicki’s pen, but by views of the last king of the Commonwealth and on the positions of researchers of the past. For the so-called panegyric lever can be used as one of the tools of poetic analysis. ‘To the king’, at least indirectly, they are indicative through their initial words: “the higher, the more visible”. What then is the relationship between Krasicki’s poem and the tradition depicted by the Old Polish royal panegyric with its nine mechanisms of the so-called “ panegyric leverage? Only one of them is fully and simultaneously innovatively taken – this is the “factual” force of the interpretation of facts. The poem ‘The king’ can be read as such a selected set of prerequisites, of which arguments can be selected for the compliant or reprehensible attitudes of supporters and opponents of Stanislas Augustus.     Tematyka pracy dotyczy stosunku wybitnego pisarza polskiego oświecenia, Ignacego Krasickiego, do epickiego gatunku przedpowieściowego, jakim jest romans. Uwaga badawcza w artykule skoncentrowana została na opiniach wobec romansów wyrażonych w kilku dziełach literackich księcia biskupa. Ignacy Krasicki, podobnie jak inni przedstawiciele ówczesnej elity literackiej, traktował romans jako gatunek anachroniczny, pozbawiony walorów artystycznych i dobrego smaku. Dlatego wyrażone przez niego w twórczości opinie wobec romansów mają charakter krytyczny i ironiczny. Poza tym pisarz potrafił w oryginalny sposób wykorzystać konwencję romansową, co szczególnie uwidacznia się w powieści Mikołaja Doświadczyńskiego przypadki. Upoważnia to do konstatacji, że romanse nie tylko drażniły Krasickiego, lecz w pewnym sensie także inspirowały.
    The article concerns the attitude of the outstanding writer of the Polish Enlightenment, Ignacy Krasicki, to the epic pre-bildungsroman genre, which is romance. The research attention in the article was focused on the opinions about romances expressed in several literary works of the prince bishop. Ignacy Krasicki, like other representatives of the literary elite of that time, treated romance as an anachronistic genre, devoid of artistic value and good taste. That is why the opinions about romances expressed in his works are critical and ironic. On the other hand, the writer was able to use the romance convention in an original way, which is particularly evident in the novel Mikołaja Doświadczyńskiego przypadki [The Adventures of Mr. Nicholas Wisdom]. This entitles us to conclude that the romances not only irritated Krasicki, but in a sense also inspired him.

    The paper is dedicated to the friendship between Prince Stanislaus Poniatowski, the king’s nephew, and poet, bishop of Warmia Ignacy Krasicki. No testimony of the bond between these two prominent figures of the Polish Enlightenment has been preserved apart from letters of Krasicki to Poniatowski (no letters from the prince to the poet remain). In the name of friendship, Krasicki dedicated to Poniatowski three poems which are important thematically and artistically perfect. The paper presents the biographical and historical background of contacts between the two friends and interpretation of works by Krasicki.

    The article shows how the figure of Ignacy Krasicki was presented in nineteenth-century British general publications, ie encyclopedias, and dictionaries. The biographies of Ignacy Krasicki published in British encyclopedias carried a different cognitive value and had a different degree of originality. There were quite fairly well-designed biographical notes among them, but there were also superficial or extremely short biographical entries. There were also biographical notes copied from other publications. Nevertheless, the English-language reader had a number of possibilities to find information about Krasicki, particularly since the name appeared not only in gen�eral publications. Relatively often the person of the bishop-poet was also present on the pages of other publications appearing in the nineteenth century in Great Britain. Many texts about the history and culture of Poland, which appeared at that time, came from the quills of Poles who appeared in Great Britain after the collapse of the 1830 uprising. Among these emigrants, a large group of people were literates who, with a great knowledge of the subject, wrote about figures and events important to their country - at this time no longer existing on the map of Europe

    The first part of the article contains a polemic with some of the theses proposed by Maciej Parkitny in his article, "To nie wino zawiniło". “Spór rymotwórski” Krasickiego z Naruszewiczem (It Is Not the Wine’s Fault. "Spór rymotwórski" [A Rhyme-forming Dispute] of Krasicki and Naruszewicz). The issue is the depreciation of Tadeusz Mikulski’s statements about the "Dispute..." and the perception of Ignacy Krasicki’s and Adam Naruszewicz’s works as expressions of different views on the political system of the First Polish Republic. At the end of the article, there is a list of particular differences between the two bishops and writers on several levels.

    The article aims to discuss the ways of introducing students to the subject matter related to the profiles of the most outstanding Polish writers functioning in the school space. The article embraces some elements of Ignacy Krasicki's work. On the basis of the literary scholar's diagnoses, the issue of school readings and school humanistic reflections was distinguished. The whole is an attempt to answer the question – how to reconcile the contemporary experience of students with the material in force at school? Issues oscillating around of anthropology of literature, philosophy and media studies – included in the didactic perspective – bring closer to the visualization of universal issues that constitute a useful context in education. A wide range of considerations – concerning both metaphysical reflection and the flow of information in the media – is intended to underline the important function of contemporary dialogue with tradition in Polish language classes.
    Artykuł ma na celu omówienie funkcjonujących w przestrzeni szkolnej sposobów wprowadzania uczniów w tematykę związaną z sylwetkami najwybitniejszych pisarzy polskich. Osią tekstu stały się elementy twórczości Ignacego Krasickiego. Na podstawie rozpoznań literaturoznawców wyodrębniona została problematyka szkolnych odczytań i szkolnych refleksji humanistycznych. Całość stanowi próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie, w jaki sposób pogodzić współczesne doświadczenia uczniów z materiałem obowiązującym w szkole? Wiedza z pogranicza antropologii literatury, filozofii i medioznawstwa – ujęta w perspektywie dydaktycznej – przybliża do uniwersalnych zagadnień, stanowiących przydatny kontekst w edukacji. Szeroki zakres rozważań, dotyczących zarówno refleksji metafizycznej, jak i obiegu informacji w mediach, ma za zadanie podkreślić ważną funkcję dialogu współczesności z tradycją na lekcjach języka polskiego.

    The article is a historical and literary reflection on Ignacy Krasicki’s book Around Chocim’s War (Wojny chocimskiej). The possible discourses of Jerzy Winiarski’s cultural writings, are the first monographic attempt to explain the complexities of interpretation and reception of the underestimated poem XBW. Some possible reasons for this work’s omission by writers from the circle of “Thursday dinners” were pointed out, even though it was commissioned by King Stanisław August Poniatowski, as well as unjust comments by the critics especially those of the Romantic and 20th century. The cultural contexts of the epic were discussed using a metalinguistic key and the tools of negative poetics.

    The article deals with the issue of Polish encyclopedism of the 18th and 19th centuries against the background of the European Baroque and Enlightenment trends. The phenomenon of the encyclopaedia by B. Chmielowski, I. Krasicki, F.S. Jezierski was analysed in the text. These were works that did not follow a specific and consistent pattern of encyclopaedic publications, were not popular and did not occupy a permanent place in Polish science and literature. Other ephemeral encyclopaedia initiatives taken into account by the author were undertaken without due patronage, and — as research has shown — were secondary and amateur publications. Some attempts, such as the Encyklopedia powszechna. Zbiór wiadomości dla wszystkich stanów of the Glücksbergs from 1839, or the Mała Polska Encyklopedia by S. Plater did not manage to achieve success. Only the creation of S. Orgelbrand’s Encyklopedia powszechna in 1859 filled a significant gap in the Polish publishing and writing “market”. The article also takes into account the statements of the creators and authors of the encyclopaedia regarding the patterns they used for creating such works, and a partial analysis of the megastructure, microstructure and publishing framework of these works.

    W szkicu podjęte zostają problemy listu poetyckiego, który rozwija się nieco równolegle do listu dedykacyjnego. Podczas egzemplifikacji zagadnienia wykorzystane zostają wiersze Juliana Przybosia, Cypriana Norwida i Ignacego Krasickiego. Okazuje się, że ważne kwestie można zobaczyć w perspektywie wybranych, ale też pogłębionych problemów o charakterze antropologicznym, wypływających z procesu interpretacyjnego. Narzędzi do ich rozumienia dostarczają myśliciele pohusserlowskiej fenomenologii, w tym wypadku Dietrich von Hildebrand.  
    The sketch deals with the problems of the poetic letter. During the exemplification of the issue, poems by Julian Przyboś, Cyprian Norwid and Ignacy Krasicki are used. It turns out that important issues can be seen from the perspective of selected, but also deep anthropological problems, arising from the interpretative process. The tools for understanding them are provided by thinkers of post-Husserlian phenomenology, in this case Dietrich von Hildebrand.

    Ostatnia dekada życia Ignacego Krasickiego jest konsekwentnie marginalizowana w jego biografiach (w szczególności podróże do wód z lat 90. XVIII w.). W artykule wykazano, że właściwym kontekstem dla pogłębienia badań jest stan zdrowia Krasickiego, a także jego mierzenie się z wchodzeniem w wiek podeszły. Autorka analizuje trzy obszary dylematów X.B.W.: zdrowotne, twórcze, patriotyczne. Podstawą jest analiza korespondencji Ignacego Krasickiego oraz kwerendy w Baden i Wiedniu. Tłem są historyczne pejzaże i funkcjonowanie kurortu Baden oraz Wiednia jako ważnych miejsc na ówczesnym turystycznym szlaku europejskim.
    The last decade of Ignacy Krasicki’s life is consistently marginalized in his biographies (in particular, his trips to spa resorts from the 1890s). The article shows that the proper context for in-depth research is Krasicki’s health, as well as the way he coped with reaching old age. The author analyzes three areas of X.B.W’s dilemmas: related to health, creativity and patriotism. The basis of the analysis of Ignacy Krasicki’s correspondence and a query in Baden and Vienna. The background is the historical landscapes and the functioning of the spa town of Baden and Vienna as important places on the European tourist route of that time.

    According to acts by the founder of Ossolineum Józef Maksymilian Ossoliński the tasks of the literary (i.e. scientific) curatorship included managing and supervising the activities of the institution most of all in the scope of administrative-proprietary and personal matters. The position of the literary curators was taken by fee-tail heirs of the Lubomirski family form Przeworsk in years 1827–1944 (Henryk in years 1827–1859, Jerzy – 1847–1851 and 1869–1872 and Andrzej – 1882–1944) or legal guardians of the Przeworsk fee tail (Kazimierz Krasicki in years 1872–1882) except for the years 1851–1869 when the Austrian authorities trusted this position to Maurycy Dzieduszycki for political reasons. The main merit of the literary curatorship was to maintain the character of this institution as it was specified by Ossoliński as a Polish national establishment in the period of the anti-Polish policy realized by the Austrian administration in Galicia in the 1830s. Literary curators also took merit for gaining additional sources of funds for Ossolineum (among others, through obtaining the right to print school textbooks in 1876). In years 1847–1913 literary curators and vicecurators appointed by them took the responsibility of direct management of this institution. Although it caused competence conflicts with consecutive directors of Ossolineum, namely August Bielowski and Wojciech Kętrzyński, but at the same time it allowed them to focus on scientific works and elaborating library resources. Henryk Lubomirski and his son Jerzy also took merit in multiplying museum collections donating their vast collection of paintings, graphics and numismatics being the basis to launch their Museum in Ossolineum in 1869. A negative aspect of the literary curatorship of Andrzej Lubomirski was treating the Ossolineum building as a kind of private seat with harm to the literary and museum needs of the institution and making at times too arbitrary and thoughtless decisions in its matters.

    Artykuł stanowi próbę wyjaśnienia przyczyn późnej recepcji Mizantropa w polskiej literaturze i teatrze. Autor analizuje udostępnione w aneksie dwie pierwsze próby przekładu krótkich ustępów z tej komedii – Franciszka Zabłockiego (1774) i Ignacego Krasickiego (1803), odwołując się do całej twórczości obu poetów. Stawia tezę, że na niewielkim zainteresowaniu Mizantropem w pierwszym okresie polskiej recepcji Molière’a zaważyły wyrafinowana forma i problematyka sztuki. Podejmuje próbę interpretacji dramatu, w której refleksję nad autorskim sposobem powiązania kategorii komizmu i metateatralności łączy z analizą jansenistycznego kontekstu Mizantropa. Rezultatem zestawienia tych perspektyw jest ujęcie tytułowego bohatera jako figury buntownika. Autor wskazuje także XVII i XVIII-wieczne polskie utwory dramatyczne, które w jakiś sposób korespondują z komedią Molière’a. Podkreśla odmienność rozwoju polskiej i francuskiej sfery widowiskowej i twierdzi, że staropolska kultura teatralna nie dawała możliwości przyswojenia komedii wysokiej, a niejednoznaczność charakteru Alcesta czyniła go bohaterem nieprzydatnym z punktu widzenia polskich oświeceniowych dramatopisarzy, którzy stawiali sobie za cel nawoływanie do poprawy obyczajów. W artykule połączono perspektywę historycznoteatralną i historycznoliteracką, wykorzystano również narzędzia z zakresu przekładoznawstwa, dramatologii i historii idei.
    This article seeks to explain why the reception of The Misanthrope in Polish literature and theater began so late. The author analyzes the first two translations of short excerpts from this comedy—by Franciszek Zabłocki (1774) and Ignacy Krasicki (1803)—which are included in the appendix. In doing so, he refers to the entire literary output of both poets. He puts forward the argument that the play’s sophisticated form and subject matter were among the reasons why The Misanthrope met with little interest in the first stage of the Polish reception of Molière. His interpretation of the play combines an analysis of the Jansenist context of The Misanthrope with a reflection on Molière’s way of connecting the categories of comicality and metatheatricality. The juxtaposition of these two perspectives leads to the presentation of the title character as a rebel figure. The author also indicates 17th- and 18th-century Polish dramatic texts that correspond in some way with Molière’s comedy. He emphasizes the differences in the development of the Polish and French performance traditions, arguing that the Old Polish theater culture did not leave room for assimilating high comedy, and that the characterological ambiguity of Alceste made him an unsuitable protagonist from the point of view of Polish Enlightenment playwrights, who aimed to exhort the society to moral improvement. The article combines the research perspectives of literary and theater history, also using theoretical and methodological tools from translation studies, drama studies, and the history of ideas.

    W artykule poddano analizie teksty, które powstały niemal w tym samym czasie. Czartoryski zapoznał się z treścią epopei już po napisaniu Pana Sędziego Delutego. Istnieją małe szanse, aby Mickiewicz znał powieść księcia. W tej sytuacji nie można zakładać wpływu któregoś z utworów na genezę drugiego. Nasuwa się jedynie przypuszczenie, że powstanie Pana Tadeusza mogło się przyczynić do zaniechania przez Czartoryskiego dalszych prac nad powieścią. Najistotniejsze jest jednak to, że teksty powstały w tym samym czasie i są zbieżne na wielu płaszczyznach. Powstaje zatem pytanie o powody tej zbieżności. Czy jest to jedynie przypadek, czy może pisarze mieli wspólną inspirację? Utworem, który mógł taką inspirację stanowić, jest Pan Podstoli Ignacego Krasickiego. Analogii pomiędzy trzema tekstami jest bardzo dużo. Niemal na każdej płaszczyźnie utworu, czy to przy konstruowaniu osobowości postaci głównych, czy bohaterów pobocznych. Wiele obrazów życia w Soplicowie i Celejowie, a także rozmaitych scen z obu utworów wykazuje pokrewieństwo ze scenami powieści Krasickiego. Zagadnienie to wymaga więc szczegółowych analiz, których wyniki pozwolą na umiejscowienie zapomnianej powieści Czartoryskiego w obrębie historii literatury. Mogą również przyczynić się do nowego oglądu Pana Tadeusza.
    Both texts were written nearly at the same time. Czartoryski read the Mickiewicz’s epic after he had written his Sir Judge Deluty [Pan Sędzia Deluty]. There is rather no chance that Mickiewicz knew the Prince’s novel. In such circumstances we cannot assume mutual influences that affected the two writings. The only presumption that may be taken into consideration is that the issuing of Sir Thaddeus [Pan Tadeusz] could have been a reason for Czartoryski to abandon works on his own novel. Nevertheless, the most significant is the fact that the two texts were created in the same time and, furthermore, they are similar in many areas. Therefore, we may ask questions what had caused such a convergence. Was it only a coincidence or did the writers have the same inspiration? Such a common source could have been Lord Steward [Pan Podstoli] by Ignacy Krasicki. There are a lot of analogies between the three mentioned texts on almost all layers of the writings: in the construction of the main characters’ personalities as well as in the group of side figures. Many pictures of life in Soplicowo and Celejowo or plenty of scenes recorded in the books reveal quite clear relevance to the prose by Krasicki. All the matters of Lord Steward concerning ethics, religion, nation or society may be found in later books by Czartoryski and Mickiewicz – they are shown in a very similar manner. The problem needs more thorough analysis which will possibly allow placing the forgotten Czartoryski’s novel within the history of Polish literature and, maybe, finally bring a new view of Sir Thaddeus.

    This article concerns a collection of Ignacy Krasicki’s essays written in his last years, entitled Uwagi. Despite the great variety of subjects in all the essays, the author has discovered a surprisingly coherent vision of people, society and the country. This vision can be interpreted as a program for the preservation of Polish identity during the Partitions of Poland and the rebuilding of social bonds.

    The article presents Ignacy Krasicki’s religiousness in the light of anthropology, which assumes that the man can, at the same time, show different attitudes concerning his outlook, resulting from being affected by simultaneous contradictory cultural paradigms. The author reveals the symptoms of secular thinking on the foundations of human morality in literary texts by the Bishop of Warmia, accompanied by religious traditionalism in the same or different literary works. The goal of the article is to provoke discussion on the personality of people in the Age of Enlightenment, which may not be explicit, but can be composed of heterogenous cultural elements.

    W niniejszym przedłożeniu przedstawiono dorobek naukowy biskupa Jana W. Obłąka, dotyczący dziejów diecezji warmińskiej. Problematyka podejmowanych opracowań jest szeroka i obejmuje okres od XVI do XX wieku. Najwięcej miejsca biskup Obłąk poświęcił polskiej ludności katolickiej, ale pisał też o wielkich postaciach związanych z Warmią, m.in. o Mikołaju Koperniku, Stanisławie Hozjuszu czy też Ignacym Krasickim. W swoich pracach upamiętnił ponadto kapitułę warmińską oraz uczelnie w Braniewie – seminarium duchowne „Hosianum” i kolegium jezuickie. Pisał również o zgromadzeniach zakonnych na Warmii i wielu sprawach związanych z kultem religijnym. Swoje opracowania opierał na rzetelnej podstawie źródłowej. Pracą badawczą włączył się w budowanie środowiska naukowego historyków olsztyńskich.
    This paper presents the scholarly output of Bishop Jan W. Obłąk concerning the history of the Diocese of Warmia. The subject matter of the undertaken studies is wide and covers the history from the 16th to the 20th century. Bishop Obłąk devoted most space to the Polish Catholic population, but he also wrote about great figures connected with Warmia, such as Nicolaus Copernicus, Stanisław Hozjusz or Ignacy Krasicki. In his works, he also commemorated the Warmia Chapter, school institutions in Braniewo – the “Hosianum” seminary and the Jesuit college. He also wrote about monastic congregations in Warmia and many matters related to religious worship. He based his studies on a reliable source base. With his research work, he contributed to building the scientific community of Olsztyn historians.

    Opis:
    From the beginning, literature occupied an important place in “Vilnius Daily” (so-called scholar magazine’s pages). The editors of the journal (including Jan and Jędrzej Śniadecki, Euzebiusz Słowacki, Filip Nereusz Golański, Leon Borowski, Ernest Groddeck, Kazimierz Kontrym) who were recruited from the circle of the University of Vilnius are alumni in “the age of lights”. Being heirs to the enlightenment ideals of aesthetics, they appreciated the literary output of their immediate predecessors. These preferences are clearly visible in the literary content of “Vilnius Daily”’, obviously adhering to classical and sentimental tastes. Without a doubt Stanisław Trembecki enjoyed the highest popularity among the Stanislawow creators in those pages. We also encounter there the works of Elżbieta Drużbacka, Ignacy Krasicki, Franciszek Karpiński and Ludwik Kropiński. The Vilnius magazine, appreciating their creative achievements, showed thereby the continuation of eighteen-century literary tradition.

    W artykule dokonano analizy zawartości czasopisma „Przemyski Przegląd Kulturalny” w latach 2006–2016. Periodyk jest inicjatywą wydawniczą Przemyskiej Biblioteki Publicznej im. Ignacego Krasickiego. Przybliżono okoliczności powstania czasopisma, omówiono jego profil i główne obszary zainteresowania, przedstawiono skład redakcyjny oraz stałych współpracowników. Następnie scharakteryzowano najważniejsze inicjatywy przemyskich redaktorów, m.in. zainicjowany w 2011 r. projekt pod nazwą „Miasta wyszehradzkie w oczach sąsiadów”, realizowany z dziennikarzami ze Słowacji, Czech i Węgier. Przeanalizowano formę wydawniczą, schemat struktury pisma i jego zawartość treściową.
    The article analyses the content of the periodical known as “Przemyski Przegląd Kulturalny” in 2006–2016. The periodical was established within the framework of a publishing initiative of the Ignacy Krasicki Public Library in Przemyśl. The article familiarises the reader with the circumstances of the establishment of the periodical, discusses its profile and the most important areas of interest, the editorial staff and regular contributors. This is followed by a description of the most important initiatives of the Przemyśl-based editors, inter alia the project, initiated in 2011, known as Miasta wyszehradzkie w oczach sąsiadów, realised in collaboration with journalists from Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary. The article analyses the publication form, the structure of the periodical and its content.
