Opis:
For a domain D ⊂ ℂ the Kobayashi-Royden ϰ and Hahn h pseudometrics are equal iff D is simply connected. Overholt showed that for $D ⊂ ℂ^n$, n ≥ 3, we have $h_D ≡ ϰ_D$. Let D₁, D₂ ⊂ ℂ. The aim of this paper is to show that $h_{D₁ × D₂}$ iff at least one of D₁, D₂ is simply connected or biholomorphic to ℂ \ {0}. In particular, there are domains D ⊂ ℂ² for which $h_D ≢ ϰ_D$.

Opis:
The pseudometric of Hahn is identical to the Kobayashi-Royden pseudometric on domains of dimension greater than two. Thus injective hyperbolicity coincides with ordinary hyperbolicity in this case.

We show a relation between the Kobayashi pseudodistance of a holomorphic fiber bundle and the Kobayashi pseudodistance of its base. Moreover, we prove that a holomorphic fiber bundle is taut iff both the fiber and the base are taut.

Opis:
Hideo Kobayashi, who is today known as one of the most prominent literary critics of the Showa era in Japan, published Ophelia’s Will in 1931 when he was still an aspiring novelist. This novella was an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, composed as a letter written by Ophelia to Hamlet before her enigmatic death in the original play. While the novel has previously been considered as a psychological novel that sought to illustrate the inner life of the Shakespearean heroine, this paper examines the process by which Kobayashi rediscovered Hamlet as a drama that foregrounds the impenetrability of the characters’ inwardness and highlighted in Ophelia’s Will his diversion from the psychological rendition of Ophelia. In so doing, the paper analyses the revisions Kobayashi continued to make to the novel even until the post-war era, especially when it was republished in 1933 and 1949. Though these revisions have rarely been discussed by the researchers, they demonstrate the essential changes made to the novel, mainly to its literary style, which corroborates Kobayashi’s shifting interest and his developing interpretation of Shakespeare’s works and Hamlet.

International Izmir Festival
Opis:
Nowadays art festivals engage more to organize their events in unusual places. Either for the sake of city branding or a pure cultural memory action, a performance might be set in a forgotten memory place. The place which is distinguished sharply by a comfortable concert hall becomes one of the actors of the event and the participant questions a past that s/he hasn’t been strongly connected. Thus, the individual is not only aroused by the performance itself and the information in the booklets but also physical environment has an affect. This article aims to tackle the contribution of color as an instrument of data collection in qualitative research. By using color tablets inspired by the colorist Kobayashi the colors are tested firstly as a visual to learn how they make sense in Izmir during International Izmir Festival. Secondly, they are questioned how the participants embed colors’ senses to the memory places where they attended to the concerts. The research process indicates that the experience of a concert might not be visually powerful enough to associate memory places with the colors. However, the technique of color tablets becomes prompting object which support the dialogue construction between the fieldworker and informant. Thus, as an instrument for evocation and conversation color tablets become interactive objects for remembering of the festival experience and it mediates the social roles of the informants and the fieldworker.
