Opis:
In this work, we study the effects of geometrical and physical parameters on the performances of SB-CNTFET using a compact model. The influences of the physical parameters (height of the Schottky barrier ($\Phi_{SB}$) capacity of oxide layer $(C_{INS})$ and geometrical parameter (nanotube diameter $(d_{CNT})$) on the static performance $(I_\text{ON}//I_\text{OFF})$ of SB-CNTFET have been investigated. We present a detailed analysis of the electrical performance of the SB-CNTFET or current-voltage characteristics$ (I_{D}=f(V_{DS})$ for different values of $V_{GS}$, and also the characteristics $(I_{D}=f(V_{GS}))$ for different values of $V_{DS}$. All these circuits are studied for a fixed value of $\Phi_{SB}=0.275 eV$.

We study the magnetic behavior of the diamond system. In this system diamond bulk is involved which is doped with different transition metals, namely Cu, Cd, Hg, and Zn. The VASP code is employed for all calculations which are based on density functional theory. The substitutional point defects is introduced in the diamond bulk and occupied by the transition metals. Results exhibit that all transition metals show ferromagnetism behavior and Cu is a good advocate of conductivity among all transition metals. The range of magnetic moments is 2.89, 1.99, 1.96, and 1.80 $μ_{B}$ per Cu, Cd, Hg, and Zn atom in diamond bulk, respectively. Strong magnetic behavior points out that these materials could be used for spintronics.

Opis:
The primary physical and chemical parameters that define the hypopolarized plasma cell membrane of malignant (cancer) cells compared to non-malignant cells reflect universal characteristics. The median value for the resting membrane potential is the constant for the Nernst equation without reference to discrepancies in ion concentrations and is identical to Boltzmann energies at 37 °C. The threshold energy defining space-time converges with access to entropic processes that are reflected in the morphology of cancer cells and tumors. Slowing of growth in cancer cell lines but not normal cells following exposure to weak (~1 to 10 μT) patterned magnetic fields occurs when the energy induced within the cell corresponds to the energy equivalent of the hypopolarized membrane potential. The optimal temporal parameters for the efficacy of these fields can be derived from Hubble‟s parameter and the transform function for “noise” or “random” patterns within the system. Quantitative solutions and experimental data indicate that the cancer cell may be dominated by entropic process that can be attenuated or blocked by temporally-structured applied magnetic fields whose intensity matches the increment of energy associated with this threshold.

Using Lanczos exact diagonalization of finite clusters we demonstrate that the spin-orbital $d^1$ model for triply degenerate $t_{2g}$ orbitals on a triangular lattice provides an example of a spin-orbital liquid ground state. We also show that the spin-orbital liquid involves entangled valence bond states which violate the Goodenough-Kanamori rules, and modify effective spin exchange constants.

This contribution reports on comparative studies on giant magnetoresistance in carbon nanotubes and graphene nanoribbons of similar aspect ratios (i.e. perimeter/length and width/length ratios, for the former and the latter, respectively). The problem is solved at zero temperature in the ballistic transport regime, by means of the Green functions technique within the tight-binding model and with the so-called wide band approximation for electrodes. The giant magnetoresistance effect in graphene is comparable to that of carbon nanotubes, it depends strongly on the chirality and only slightly on the aspect ratio. It turns out that graphene, analogously to carbon nanotubes may be quite an interesting material for spintronic applications.

Ground states of the frustrated spin-1 Ising-Heisenberg two-leg ladder with Heisenberg intra-rung coupling and only Ising interaction along legs and diagonals are rigorously found by taking advantage of local conservation of the total spin on each rung. The constructed ground-state phase diagram of the frustrated spin-1 Ising-Heisenberg ladder is then compared with the analogous phase diagram of the fully quantum spin-1 Heisenberg two-leg ladder obtained by density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) calculations. Both investigated spin models exhibit quite similar magnetization scenarios, which involve intermediate plateaux at one-quarter, one-half and three-quarters of the saturation magnetization.

Using the density functional theory we study the influence of external charge probes on the electronic structure of semiconducting carbon nanotubes in the vicinity of the Fermi level. We show that the spatially limited potential due to the probe can create localized electronic states in the energy gap and at the edges of the conductance band. By filling these localized states with additional electrons one obtains a quantum dot, which can be tuned by modifying the properties of the external charge probe. We analyze dependence of the electronic structure of the dot on the spatial extension of the potential as well as on the nanotube radius.

Magnetization curves of the ferrimagnetic mixed spin-(1/2,S) Heisenberg chains are calculated with the help of density-matrix renormalization group method for several quantum spin numbers S=1, 3/2, 2 and 5/2. It is shown that the ferrimagnetic mixed spin-(1/2,S) Heisenberg chains exhibit irrespective of the spin value S exactly one intermediate magnetization plateau, which can be identified with the gapped Lieb-Mattis ferrimagnetic ground state. The magnetization plateau due to the Lieb-Mattis ferrimagnetism breaks down at a quantum phase transition towards the Luttinger spin liquid, which is characterized by a continuous change of the magnetization with the magnetic field until another quantum critical point is reached at the saturation field.

The effect of the canting of local anisotropy axes on the ground-state phase diagram and magnetization of a ferrimagnetic chain with regularly alternating Ising and Heisenberg spins is exactly examined in an arbitrarily oriented magnetic field. It is shown that individual contributions of the Ising and Heisenberg spins to the total magnetization basically depend on the spatial orientation of the magnetic field and the canting angle between two different local anisotropy axes of the Ising spins.

The aim of this paper is to propose an improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) procedure for non-convex optimization problems. This approach embeds classical methods which are the Kuhn-Tucker (KT) conditions and the Hessian matrix into the fitness function. This generates a semi-classical PSO algorithm (SPSO). The classical component improves the PSO method in terms of its capacity to search for optimal solutions in non-convex scenarios. In this work, the development and the testing of the refined the SPSO algorithm was carried out. The SPSO algorithm was tested against two engineering design problems which were; ‘optimization of the design of a pressure vessel’ (P1) and the ‘optimization of the design of a tension/compression spring’ (P2). The computational performance of the SPSO algorithm was then compared against the modified particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm of previous work on the same engineering problems. Comparative studies and analysis were then carried out based on the optimized results. It was observed that the SPSO provides a better minimum with a higher quality constraint satisfaction as compared to the PSO approach in the previous work.

The main focus of this paper is to propose a method for prioritizing knowledge and technology factor of firms towards sustainable competitive advantage. The data has been gathered and analyzed from two high tech start-ups in which technology and knowledge play major role in company’s success. The analytical hierarchy model (AHP) is used to determine competitive priorities of the firms. Then knowledge and technology part of sense and respond questionnaire is used to calculate the variability coefficient i.e. the uncertainty caused by technology and knowledge factor. The proposed model is tested in terms of two start-ups. Based on the initial calculation of uncertainties, some improvement plan is proposed and the method is applied again to see if the uncertainty of knowledge and technology decreases. In both cases, the proposed model helped to have a clear and precise improvement plan and led in reduction of uncertainty.
