    The aim of the article is to present the issue of educational work carried out in a spirit of axiological education in the former Krakow ghetto and the former labor and concentration camp Plaszow in Kraków. The significance of the activities consists of the acquisition of knowledge about the difficult local history of the Holocaust and its heritage by confrontation with the ghetto and the former camp and relics of the past. The key area for dealing with the issues of harm, responsibility and awakening is social work, which in its axiological aspect largely focuses on reflection on the theory and practice relating to the complex issue of responsibility. These activities not only stimulate the historical awareness of totalitarianisms and the memory of them in the social and moral dimension, but also and most importantly they are a precondition for the mental health and moral development of a person, family, group, and social community.

    Debate about the possibilities of using interdisciplinary methods in investigations of labor and concentration camps of world war two is well embedded. In this cases, the archaeology is a mixture of sub-disciplines like Combat Archaeology, War Archaeology and Interment Archaeology as well as a Public Archaeology. Field researches, especially non-invasives ones are common practices. In recent years numerous archeological research project has taken place. Some of them were prepared for the investment activities and design of memorials and new museums. The main purpose of documentation, surveys, and excavation of this kind of sites is a preservation of architectural relicts and landscape, but also a supplementing the historical knowledge by authentic archaeological sources. In this paper, authors decided to present the results of archaeological research project prepared in 2016 by The Historical Museum of the City of Kraków (MHK) and the investigations of Rabbinical Commission for Jewish Cemeteries in the area of labor and concentration camp Plaszow. The archeological documentation and investigations were combined with extensive research and study of memorial sites in Poland and Europe, which served as the basis for the scenario of the exhibition and commemoration of KL Plaszow as a future memorial site’s institution

    The issues of memory, heritage, and archaeology are strictly connected to the archaeology of the contemporary past and the Nazi period. That connection is a new field of research that lead to the reconceptualization of ideas of a museum, archives, and their relations to memory. In the paper authors discuss the case study of the area of former labor and concentration camp Plaszow in Krakow (1942–1945). Since 2016, numerous archeological research and education programs were conducted by the Museum of Krakow. The main purpose of documentation, surface surveys, and excavations was preservation of the architectural relicts and landscape, and supplementing the historical knowledge of authentic archaeological sources. The results of the research were related to the preparation of the boundaries for the future commemoration of the former camp’s area and its history as a museum and memorial site. The outcome of the archaeological activity is collection of artifacts, documentation and archaeological knowledge that influenced the idea of commemoration in its specific way. The article attempts to answer the questions about the categories of archives and museums.

    Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie działalności Judishe Ordnungsdienst (OD) okupowanego przez Niemców Krakowa w latach 1940-1945. W zakresie tematycznym mieści się organizacja OD w dzielnicy żydowskiej Kazimierz w 1940 r., w getcie krakowskim w latach 1941-1943 oraz w niemieckim obozie koncentracyjnym w Płaszowie w latach 1942-1945. Główny wątek poprzedzony jest analizą historii OD w polskich miastach Warszawie i Łodzi, również okupowanych przez Niemców. Pozostałe getta służą do przedstawienia ogólnej sytuacji organizacji. Opisano również, co działo się z funkcjonariuszami po wojnie przez pryzmat polskiego prawa. Procesy funkcjonariuszy OD toczyły się przed Specjalnym Sądem Karnym w Krakowie w latach 1945-1947. Celem niniejszego artykułu było również przedstawienie powojennego procesu byłych członków Jüdische Ordnungsdienst w okupowanym Krakowie, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem sprawy Dawida Lieblinga. Proces oskarżonego Lieblinga, który był członkiem Jüdischer Ordnungsdienst i Żydowskiej Organizacji Bojowej, odbył się przed Specjalnym Sądem Karnym w Krakowie 26 maja 1946 roku. Zarzut kolaboracji został przez sąd odrzucony.
    Goal of this article is to present activity of Judishe Ordnungsdienst, occupied by the Germans, Krakow in years 1940-1945. Within the scope there is organisation of OD in Jewish district of Kazimierz in 1940, in Krakow ghetto in 1941-1943 and in German concentration camp in Plaszow in 1942-1945. Main topic is preceded by analysis of OD history in Polish cities of Warsaw and Lodz, also occupied by the Germans. The other ghettos are used to present general situation of the organisation. It is also mentioned what happened with officers after the war through the prism of Polish law. Trials of OD officers took place on Special Criminal Court in Krakow in 1945-1947. The purpose of this article was also to present the post-war process of former members of the Jüdische Ordnungsdienst (OD) in occupied Krakow with particular regard to the case of David Lieblinga. The trial of accused Liebling, who was a member of the Jüdischer Ordnungsdienst and the Jewish Fighting Organization was held before the Special Criminal Court in Krakow on May 26, 1946. The allegations of collaborations have been rejected by the court.

    Artykuł jest analizą nowego eksponatu w Aptece pod Orłem – oddziale Muzeum Historycznego Miasta Krakowa. Apteka znajduje się w Podgórzu, dzielnicy, na terenie której w czasie II wojny światowej znajdowało się getto żydowskie. Właściciel Apteki – Tadeusz Pankiewicz, był jedynym Polakiem, któremu pozwolono żyć w getcie podczas Holokaustu. Był świadkiem wydarzeń, a także starał się pomagać ludziom zmuszonym do życia w getcie. Apteka była miejscem spotkań, w którym mieszkańcy getta mogli zapomnieć o codziennych smutkach i traumie Holokaustu. Artykuł podzielony jest na trzy części. Pierwsza z nich to krótka historia dzielnicy. Druga odnosi się do innych miejsc dziedzictwa żydowskiego, które zostały odnowione w Podgórzu w ostatnim czasie, takich jak: Plac Bohaterów Getta, dawna Fabryka Schindlera oraz obóz Płaszów. Trzecia część to analiza nowego eksponatu w pomieszczeniach Apteki.
    The article is an analysis of the new exhibit in the Eagle Pharmacy – branch of the Historical Museum of the City of Kraków. The Pharmacy is situated in Podgórze, district were was located Jewish getto during 2nd World War. The owner of the Pharmacy – Tadeusz Pankiewicz, was the only Pole who was allowed to live in ghetto while the Holocaust. He was the witness of the events and also he tried to help the people who were forced to live in the ghetto. The Pharmacy was a place of the meetings, where the inhabitants of the ghetto could forget about the everyday sorrows and trauma of the Holocaust. The article is divided into three parts. The first one is a short history of the district. The second refers to the other sites of Jewish heritage which were renovated in Podgórze lately such as: Ghetto Heroes’ Square, former Schindler’s Factory and camp Płaszów. The third part is analysis of the new exhibit in the rooms of the Pharmacy.
