Opis:
In this paper, I present Christine Korsgaard’s style of building a conception of animal rights protection based on a concept of Kantian provenance, namely “end in itself”. Considering that an end in itself in Immanuel Kant’s philosophy includes only human beings, the American philosopher needed to modify (extend) the meaning of the abovementioned concept. This study aims at showing this change of the meaning in categories derived from Fregean semantics (sense and reference). Moreover, I will attempt to prove that by broadening the extension of “end in itself” Korsgaard uses a strategy called ethical extensionism and situates the revised (naturalized) categorical imperative ipso facto within environmental ethics. I start with elucidating Korsgaard’s views on the meaning of “end in itself” before she took interest in animal rights (set out mainly in Kant’s Formula of Humanity and The Sources of Normativity) and then I synthetically describe her animal rights philosophy with a special regard to the category of “natural good”. The second part of the article explains the methodology used in the paper, while the last part is intended to be an interpretation of Korsgaard’s thought.

Individualism as a way of feeling and comprehension of reality has been a basic element of Western civilization for a long time. In 20th century individualism was criticized by personalism and similar currents. I shall point to the dualistic source (Platonic, Christian, Cartesian and Kantian) of the personalist criticism of individualism which also was, in my opinion, more or less apparent inspiration of later sociological and social-anthropological research on relationships between individual and society. I also try to answer what the social or ontological status of commonly accepted modern individualistic values is.

In den folgenden Überlegungen wird versucht, einen Überblick über Begründungsformen der Ethik zu bieten. Ich skizziere zunächst fünf klassisch gewordene, wirkungsgeschichtlich zentrale Ansätze, beziehe diese in einer kurzen Übersicht aufeinander und verweise schließlich auf einige aktuelle Begründungsformen und ihr Verhältnis zu diesen zentralen Ansätzen.
In this article I attempt to present an overview of the forms of justifying ethics. I begin with outlining five concepts considered classical and are central in terms of their historical impact; I then move on to compare them, concluding with selected contemporary forms of justification and their relation to classical concepts.
W rozważaniach tych podejmuję próbę dokonania przeglądu form uzasadniania etyki. Najpierw szkicuję pięć koncepcji, które nabrały charakteru klasycznego i są centralne, gdy idzie o historyczne oddziaływanie; następnie dokonuję ich ich krótkiego zestawienia, a na koniec pokazuję pewne współczesne formy uzasadniania oraz ich stosunek do koncepcji klasycznych.

Wallensteins Lager zeichnet die Konturen des Protagonisten durch dessen Abwesenheit. Nicht in der Gestalt des wirklichen Wallenstein, sondern als Schattenbild im Lager erscheint das tragische Schicksal, das er erleiden muss: den Verrat, den Verlust der Kontrolle über seine Armee und sein gewaltsamer Tod. Das Schattenbild des Protagonisten verwandelt die Gerüchte im Lageralltag in Wahrheit und die Wahrheit in Geschichte. Der Aufsatz untersucht die Bedeutung des Schattenbildes und klärt den Subjektbegriff Schillers nach seinem Kant-Erlebnis.
Dramat Schillera Obóz Wallensteina kreśli sylwetkę protagonisty przez jego nieobecność. Tragiczny los Wallensteina: zdrada, utrata panowania nad armią oraz jego gwałtowna śmierć ukazane zostały w utworze nie poprzez rzeczywistą postać wodza, lecz przez jego cień w obozie. Cień głównego bohatera zmienia krążące w życiu codziennym obozu pogłoski w prawdę, a prawdę w historię. Artykuł zajmuje się badaniem roli cienia realnego bohatera i wyjaśnia Schillerowskie pojęcie subiektywizmu oparte na koncepcjach moralnych zaczerpniętych z filozofii Kanta.
Schiller’s drama Wallensteins Lager („Wallenstein’s Camp“) delineates the profile of the protagonist by means of his absence. The tragic fate of Wallenstein: treason, loss of control over the army and his sudden death have been presented in the play not through a real character of the general but through his shadow in the camp. The shadow of the main hero changes the rumours circulating in everyday life of the camp into the truth, and the truth into history. The article studies the role of the shadow of the real protagonist and explains Schiller’s notion of subjectivism based on moral concepts borrowed from Kant’s philosophy.

The following paper provides a historical and biographical introduction to the reading of the translation of Kant’s essay Von einem neuerdings erhobenen vornehmen Ton in der Philosophie. It consists of three parts. In the first one, called Introductory remarks, I point out the specific role of Kant’s polemical writings in his work. In the second, Protagonists, I outline the biographies of both of Kant’s opponents: J. G. Schlosser and Friedrich Leopold Graf zu Stolberg-Stolber. Finally, in the third one, I discuss a number of translation problems with the terms “Ahnung” and “ahnen”.

W artykule prezentuję poglądy Karla Jaspersa na temat dyskursu i intuicji. Obie zdolności ludzkiego poznawania nie są tu rozumiane oddzielnie, lecz łączą się razem, gdy ludzie filozofują. Innymi słowy, filozofia potrzebuje ich obu, chociaż ich wzajemna relacja wcale nie jest prosta do wyjaśnienia. Jest bardziej dialektyczna niż analityczna. W artykule porównuję stanowisko Jaspersa i Kanta, ponieważ Jaspers był w dużej mierze zależny od Kantowskich rozstrzygnięć, ale w omawianej sprawie nie zgadzał się do końca z Kantem.

Filozofia religii według Immanuela Kanta polega na czysto rozumowym uzasadnieniu postulatów wolności, nieśmiertelności i Boga. Filozof z Królewca doszedł do wniosku, że są to pojęcia zawarte a priori w umyśle, dlatego nadał im praktyczne zastosowanie w powszechnym prawie moralnym. Wyszedł poza kultyczne rozumienie religii, wprowadzając religię moralności. Dostrzegał zatem w chrześcijaństwie naturalizm, w którym zawierają się odwieczne i niezmienne prawa moralne, ale odrzucił wszystko co jest związane z kościelnymi nabożeństwami. Jego religia jest czysto rozumowa i z tego powodu potrzebuje jedynie naukowej argumentacji, właściwej dla filozofii oświecenia.
According to Immanuel Kant the philosophy of religion is based on purely a reasonable justification of the postulates of freedom, immortality and God. He reached the conclusion that they are the concepts contained 'a priori' in the mind, therefore he gave them a practical application through the universal moral law. He went beyond the cultic understanding of religion by introducing the religion of morality. Thus, he saw in Christianity naturalism, which contains eternal and unchanging moral laws; however, Kant rejected anything that was related to church services. His religion is purely reasonable and therefore needs only argumentation distinctive to the philosophy of the Enlightenment.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie poglądów rosyjskiego filozofa Leonarda Aleksandrowicza Kalinnikowa na temat filozofii Kanta. W artykule tym pokazany zostanie jeden z najistotniejszych aspektów myśli kaliningradczyka, a mianowicie — postulowane przez niego — zasady interpretacji (princypy interpritacyi) systemu Kanta. Artykuł składa się z trzech części, w pierwszej przedstawiona zostaje krótka biografia rosyjskiego myśliciela, w drugiej są zaprezentowane dziesięć zasad, bez których w myśl Kalinnikowa nie może obejść się żaden porządny systemowy badacz Kanta, trzecia zawiera wnioski.
The purpose of this article is to present the views of the Russian philosopher Leonard Alexandrovich Kalinnikov on Kant’s philosophy. This article demonstrates one of the important aspects thinks Kaliningrad resident, namely the rules interpretation system of Kant. The article consists of three parts, the first presents a brief biography of the Russian thinker, the second presents ten rules, without which the thoughts of Kalinnikov can not do any decent system researcher Kant, the third contains conclusions.This reception is based on an earlier esoteric-teleological assumption about the whole system. Kant’s System, according to Kalinnikov, must be reconstructed and presented on the basis of three Critiques, which organically contain internal rules for their interpretation. As a final of the nine principles of interpretation, Kalinnikov proposes one universal principle of the unity of the world. This principle consists in the monistic reading of the question about human, which is intended to encapsulate the system in its entirety as a world of phenomena, things-in-themselves, and their human mediator.

Gottlob Frege abandoned his logicist program after Bertrand Russell had discovered that some assumptions of Frege’s system lead to contradiction (so called Russell’s paradox). Nevertheless, he proposed a new attempt for the foundations of mathematics in two last years of his life. According to this new program, the whole of mathematics is based on the geometrical source of knowledge. By the geometrical source of cognition Frege meant intuition which is the source of an infinite number of objects in arithmetic. In this article, I describe this final attempt of Frege to provide the foundations of mathematics. Furthermore, I compare Frege’s views of intuition from The Foundations of Arithmetic (and his later views) with the Kantian conception of pure intuition as the source of geometrical axioms. In the conclusion of the essay, I examine some implications for the debate between Hans Sluga and Michael Dummett concerning the realistic and idealistic interpretations of Frege’s philosophy.

According to the philosopher of three critics, hospitality postulates the immanent sense of feeling of respect for the natural law basis of the same hospitality that presents, according to the thinker of Koenigsberg, as not being the result of any external conditions, the sensitive area, but preferably, appears as inner feeling that occurs by reason. Meanwhile, the hospitality depends on the magnitude and direction of “Practical Reason” ( Vernunft praktische ). The host comes from the exercise of moral law. The hospitality, according to the philosopher of Koenigsberg, is according to the autonomy of the will ( Wille ). However, our position relates to hospitality, the thought of pure philosophy, as a heteronomy of the Other as stranger or host. In view of Kant, the hospitality is a deontologism to the host. The Kantian abroad is not an absolutely Other, but a citizen of the world regardless of what their origin, their territorial origin. She should be treated as a person,as an end in itself. In fact, the act that constitutes the meaning of hospitality should be a motivated act rationally. The place of universal hospitality is the Earth’s surface. The common possession of the surface of the earth is therefore a right. In this Kantian hospitality there is a duty, but as understood as an expression of culture, that was expressed by Derrida.

The principle of Autonomy, according to Koenigsberg’s philosopher, will naturally be chosen only in such a way that the maxims of choice are simultaneously included in the same will as the universal law. That this practical rule is an imperative, that is to say that the Will of the whole rational being is necessarily bound to it as a condition, can not be demonstrated by the simple analysis of the concepts contained in it, since it is a proposition synthetic; it would be necessary to go beyond the knowledge of the objects and enter into a criticism of the subject, that is, of pure practical reason, since this synthetic proposition that orders apoditically must be able to recognize itself entirely a priori. By simple analysis of the concepts of morality, it can be shown very well, that the aforementioned principle of autonomy will be the only principle of morality. In this way, it is discovered that this principle has to be a “categorical imperative” and that it commands neither more nor less than precisely this doctrine.
