Opis:
Description of destroying graves and the burning of human bones in Bethel (2 Kings 23,16-19) is unique compared to other reforms undertaken by the kings of Judah and by King Josiah (2 Kings 22-23). From the point of view of syntactic and grammatical, this description is diametrically opposite from other parts of the activities of King Josiah. We do not see a direct connection be-tween the found the Book of the Law and the activities at Bethel. Also lacks explicit references to the idea of centralization of worship in Jerusalem. It seems that in connection with the activities at Bethel we are not dealing with religious reform, but more with a political action. For the living, “graves serve not only to hold the remains of the deceased, or to memorialize the existence of an individual but – significantly – a grave or collection of graves might also serve to mark the boundary of a given place or to signal possession or owner-ship of a territory” (Francesca Stavrakopoulou). The destruction of graves and their contents, is a sign of the extension of borders and military conquest. We can see parallels between the actions of Josiah and his contemporary rulers of Assyria. This is particularly evident in the activities of the king of Assyria Ashurbanipal, who reigned in the era of King Josiah. His military campaigns were characterized by particularly demonstrative destruction of graves and human bones, which resulted from the Assyrian anthropology. According to the Assyrian outlook of life, the dead could reach after the death of two states: the state etemmu, when they could influence the world of the living positively or negatively and state zaqiqu, when they were deprived of all power. Both states had their relationship with the fate of the bones of the dead. It seems that some elements of both anthropology Assyrian and Assyrian psychological warfare influenced the description of the activities of King Josiah at Bethel.

Opis:
The author gives, first, the detailed panorama of the historical situationin Juda in VII century BCE and, second, describes the reforms of Josiah. As regards the exact dating of the life and activity of the prophet Zephaniahthere are three main options. One group of scholars puts it at the verybeginning of the reign of the king Josiah, so immediately after 640 BCE.The others prefer the time that followed the very beginnings of the reformmovement, mentioned in the Second Book of Chronicle, so in the decadebefore the culmination of the reform activities of Josiah. The third groupputs the message of Zephaniah in the period after 622 BCE, suggestingthat the prophet strongly supported the king. The first two solutions seemto be the most reasonable.

Opis:
Apostolic exhortation “Evangelii Gaudium” written by pope Francis, calling to proclaim the Gospel in today’s world, starts from calling to experiencing the joy of meeting Jesus Christ. The sadness coming from the forgetfulness and comfort may cause neutralisation and loss of sensitivity. The attempt of reforming The New Evangelism undertook by pope Francis, seems to resemble the attempts of religious reform executed by king Josiah and started with the finding of the forgotten Book of the Law. The joy of reading and the way of reading the unread Book, resulted in passing the Book from hand to hand and liturgical communalreading, starting the process of departure from baalisation of YHWH, process of cleansing the cult of The Only One. Pope Francis proposes exactly that way of reading the Word, whichcharacterises the readiness to be hurt. The deep experience of meting with the Word of God, gives us the possibility to return to the memory about the Word’s first place and unity YHWHin the life of the believer, being the foundations of missionary community of the Church, caring with respect for every human being.

Opis:
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of this paper is to investigate applicability of Adam Smith’s Labour Theory of Value (LTV) and present both: the development of Adam Smith’s LTV as well as the early Anglo-American respond to the thesis that labour is real measure of the exchangeable value of all commodities. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: Paper analyses premises that led Adam Smith to formulate his thesis that the labour it the only common measure of all value; as well as the reasons for critiques and appraisals of Smith’s thesis. Using analytical methods, as Frederic Beiser defined it, paper will “identify the problem behind a passage, the question the author is attempting to answer, (…) reconstruct the arguments the author gives for its solution, i.e., formulate them into premises and conclusion [and] (…) appraise these arguments, determining their formal validity and the quality of the evidence for them.” THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: After taking preliminary considerations on development of Smith’s theory the paper examines the earliest critique by the Anglo-American thinker Thomas Pownall. Finally, to investigate shortcomings of Pownall’s criticism, the paper explores various British and American attempts to implement LTV in utopian experiments and validate accuracy of Smith’s assumptions in practice. RESEARCH RESULTS: The result of the study is to clarify the Smith’s LTV concept and present it in new light, without the Marxist distortion given to it by both: Karl Marx itself and Marxists supporters. CONCLUSSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: This proves that no matter how disputable and undefined the LTV concept might be, and besides all imperfections of LTV theory emphasised by Pownall, under specific circumstances it might be implemented into practice. The paper focusses on pre-Ricardian economy and utopian social experiment and therefore it provides new context of analysis does not intend to present the Marxist variations on LTV.

Opis:
The Old Testament often mentions mountains. Recognized as works of Divine omnipotence, they constitute a unique space for establishing relation with the Lord. The Mount of Olives, which is located east of Jerusalem, fits in this biblical scenery. The paper consists of two parts. The former encompasses an exegetical analysis of 10 fragments of the Old Testament, which concern the Mount of Olives. The order of inquiry is determined by the canonical arrangement of the holy books. The latter part is an attempt to present their theological message, based on previously obtained conclusions. The observations make possible the claim that the Mount of Olives is an important place in the current of messianism. Furthermore, through more than three centuries this mountain has been a place of pagan piety, but as a result of king Josiah’s cultic reform it has become a worthy example of religious metamorphosis and an absolute choice of Yahweh. Its connections to Jerusalem sanctuary, and its meaning in the process of renewal of Israel’s spiritual communion, make it a space of Judaistic community’s spiritual strengthening. This mountain massif served God as a place of performing providential care for the People of God, and of the rest of his glory, before it came back to the new temple in Jerusalem. Finally, God undertaken the salvific enterprise of liberating the Rest from the hands of oppressors, starting eschatological struggle on the peaks of Mount Olivet.
