    Opis:
    Schellenberg’s argument from hiddenness of God resorts to many presuppositions and puts forward many categories of grand philosophical importance and of formidable tradition among which there are both the ones which explicitly refer to the concept of God and the ones which are related to finite personal beings. What is subsumable under the latter category is the ones of faith, guilt, resistance as well as the one of a child etc. The former categories embrace, first and foremost, the one of love, openness, hiddenness and existence. The purpose of the present paper is not a head-on polemics with Schellenberg’s argument. Rather, what is at stake is to follow Schellenberg’s argumentation and illuminate its sense and the possibility of applying in philosophico-theological considerations these above-mentioned fundamental categories. The means to this end is a phenomenological description of hiddenness, openness and existence. The obtained results are of positive nature. Namely, they indicate in which sense the said categories are justified while philosophizing over God and in which sense they are not. It is only via the results obtained due to the phenomenological scrutiny over openness, hiddenness and existence that it becomes clear to what extent Schellenberg’s argument is founded upon solid grounds, the measure of which is not, after all, the arbitrariness of adopted hypothesis or the formal coherence of argumentation, but rather – keeping as close to reality as possible. It is only at this point; that is, on the fringes of the reflection supported by phenomenological insights, that the ways of critical assessment of Schellenberg’s conception become available.

    W złożonej argumentacji Jacka Wojtysiaka przeciwko argumentowi z ukrytości znajduje się przesłanka o istnieniu rzetelnie niewierzących. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiam powody, dla których klasyczny teista nie powinien akceptować tej przesłanki. W przeciwnym razie musiałby założyć, że wina za istnienie „rzetelnie niewierzących” tkwi po stronie Boga. A to prowadzi do destrukcyjnego dla teisty wniosku, że Bóg chrześcijański nie jest Bogiem wszech-przymiotów.
    In Jacek Wojtysiak’s complex argument against the hiddenness argument of J.L.Schellenberg includes the premise of the existence of “nonresistant nonbelievers”. In this article, I present reasons why the classical theist should not accept this premise. Otherwise, he would have to assume that God is to blame for the existence of “nonresistant nonbelievers”. And this leads to the destructive conclusion for the theist that the Christian God is not a God of the omni-attributes.

    Z wielu kwestii, które Jacek Wojtysiak podjął w swojej nowej książce Między ukryciem a jawnością (2023), na szczególną uwagę zasługuje polemika z Johnem L. Schellenbergiem, dotycząca problemu Bożej ukrytości. J.L. Schellenberg w pomysłowy sposób chce pokazać, że samo istnienie ateistów wystawia na próbę prawdziwość tezy o istnieniu osobowego Boga. W odpowiedzi Wojtysiak odwraca argument J.L. Schellenberga, twierdząc, że powszechność wiary wystawia na próbę przekonanie ateisty. Celem artykułu jest wykazanie, że tak jak właściwym wnioskiem argumentu J.L. Schellenberga nie jest teza ateistyczna, tak samo argument J. Wojtysiaka tak naprawdę nie broni teizmu. O obu argumentach należałoby raczej powiedzieć, że są to rozumowania, które wspierają ultymizm. Artykuł składa się z trzech części. W pierwszej przedstawiam argument J.L. Schellenberga z „Bożej ukrytości” oraz rekonstruuję argumentację J. Wojtysiaka z „wielkiego faktu wiary”. W drugiej części próbuję pokazać, że istnienie niemoralnych wierzących podważa tezę o powszechności wiary w teistycznego Boga. W trzeciej części przedstawiam oba argumenty jako wspierające tezę ultymizmu.
    Of the many issues that Jacek Wojtysiak addressed in his new book Między ukryciem a jawnością [Between Hiddenness and Openness] (2023), the polemic with John L. Schellenberg regarding the problem of God’s hiddenness deserves special attention. Schellenberg in an ingenious way wants to show that the very existence of atheists tests the truth of the thesis about the existence of a personal God. In response, J. Wojtysiak reverses J.L. Schellenberg’s argument, claiming that the universality of faith tests an atheist’s conviction. The aim of the article is to show that just as the proper conclusion of J.L. Schellenberg’s argument is not an atheistic thesis, J. Wojtysiak’s argument does not actually defend theism. It would rather be said about both arguments that they are arguments that support ultimism. The article consists of three parts. In the first one, I present Schellenberg’s argument from “God's hiddenness” and reconstruct J. Wojtysiak’s argument from the “great fact of faith.” In the second part, I try to show that the existence of immoral believers undermines the thesis about the universality of belief in a theistic God. In the third part, I present both arguments as supporting the ultimism thesis.

    W artykule omówione zostały dwie znakomite prace na temat ukrytości Boga autorstwa Miłosza Hołdy (Źródło i noc. Wprowadzenie do współczesnego absconditeizmu) i Marka Dobrzenieckiego (Ukrytość i Wcielenie. Teistyczna odpowiedź na argument Johna L. Schellenberga za nieistnieniem Boga). Należą oni do tzw. przyjacielskich teistów, którzy usiłują traktować tezę o Bożej skrytości jako ważne poszerzenie problematyki klasycznego teizmu. Wydaje się jednak, że ulegają oni iluzji prowadzenia dialogu z tzw. przyjacielskimi ateistami, wciągającymi teistów w taką interpretację tezy o skrytości Boga, która wydaje się całkowicie sprzeczna z teizmem. Powstaje zatem pytanie, czy współczesne sformułowania problemu skrytości Boga są w jakikolwiek sposób do pogodzenia z chrześcijańskim teizmem?
    The article discusses two excellent works on the hiddenness of God by Miłosz Hołda (Źródło i noc. Wprowadzenie do współczesnego absconditeizmu [The Spring and the Night: An Introduction into Contemporary Absconditheism]) and Marek Dobrzeniecki (Ukrytość i Wcielenie. Teistyczna odpowiedź na argument Johna L. Schellenberga za nieistnieniem Boga [Hiddenness and the Incarnation: A Theistic Response to John L. Schellenberg’s Argument for Divine Nonexistence]). They belong to the so-called friendly theists, who try to treat the thesis of God’s hiddenness as an important extension of the problems of classical theism. It seems, however, that they succumb to the illusion of conducting a dialogue with the so-called friendly atheists, who involve theists in such an interpretation of the thesis about the Divine hiddenness, which seems to be completely contrary to classical theism. The question then arises: whether the contemporary formulations of the problem of the Divine hiddenness are in any way compatible with Christian theism?
