Opis:
Background Nurses constitute a crucial professional group within the healthcare system. Job satisfaction and opportunities for professional development directly impact the quality of medical services provided and help prevent burnout. The study aimed to assess the preferred career model, the level of job satisfaction, and determine the type of work-related behavior presented by Polish nurses. Material and Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 795 nurses after the COVID-19 pandemic. Three standardized scales were used: My Career questionnaire to access the preferred career model, the Job Satisfaction Scale, and Work‑Related Behavior and Experience Patterns (Arbeitsbesorgenes Verhaltens und Erlebenmuster – AVEM) questionnaire assessing types of work-related behavior. Descriptive statistics, Spearman’s correlation coefficient, and multiple linear regression were used for analysis of data. Results The results concerning the relationship between the types of work-related behavior, job satisfaction, and the preferred career model revealed that type G (healthy) was significantly and positively correlated (p < 0.05, r > 0) with the Challenge subscale of the career model (r = 0.095, p = 0.007) and job satisfaction (r = 0.136, p < 0.001). The higher the score on the Challenge subscale and greater job satisfaction, the more pronounced type G personality. The multiple linear regression models explained only 2.5 to 5% of the variability of studied questionnaire outcomes but indicated that significant, independent predictors for the My Career questionnaire subscales and AVEM raw scales for each type were additional qualifications, level of education, work experience, and place of work. Significant predictors of the job satisfaction scale were employment in private healthcare facilities and a master’s degree. Conclusions Nurses experience job satisfaction, but the workload, demanding daily tasks, and the sense of responsibility can lead them to feel fatigued and burnt out. The preferred career model involves Security and Stability, as well as Service and Commitment to other domains. Only a small percentage of the variability in the results of the analyzed dependent variables was explained by the explanatory variables included in the model.

Objectives Fatigue can be the result of overexertion and overload. It occurs when the burdened body does not have enough time for regeneration and biological renewal. The aim of this study was analysis of fatigue based on the subjective feeling in physiotherapists, nurses, and paramedics. Material and Methods The research covered 193 women and 107 men aged 30–60 years, including 100 physiotherapists, 100 nurses and 100 paramedics with higher education, employed in clinics and hospitals in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, Poland. The research tool of choice was 30-item Research Committee on Industrial Fatigue Fatigue Scale, adapted into the Polish language by Paluch. The data were analyzed based on ANOVA Kruskal-Wallis test, Mann-Whitney U test and Spearman’s rank correlation. Results Values determining frequency of decrease in activity were higher in nurses than in physiotherapists (p < 0.001) and paramedics (p = 0.005). Physiotherapists and nurses showed statistically significant positive associations of all fatigue indices with age and seniority. Sex-related differences in the frequency of physical fatigue symptoms have been noted (p = 0.044). Among people working in outpatient clinics and hospitals there were statistically significant differences in the frequency of decrease in activity (p = 0.001) and general level of fatigue (p = 0.031). Conclusions In nurses and physiotherapists, the frequency of experiencing ailments increases with age and work experience. This suggests that in the case of these professions it is important to quick identification of signs of fatigue and taking actions to prevent its worsening. Women experience fatigue more often, so they especially need to take steps to prevent and, if necessary, treat this condition. Hospitals should be an area of special involvement in the process of implementing programs to counteract fatigue of employees in the medical services sector.

Wykorzystano Skalę Satysfakcji z Pracy Anny Zalewskiej. Wyniki badań pokazały wysoki poziom satysfakcji z pracy zdalnej wśród 54,8% respondentów (jedynie 9,5% z nich charakteryzował niski poziom zmiennej). Zmienne opisujące obowiązki menedżerskie nie różnicowały istotnie nasilenia satysfakcji z pracy. Prezentowane badania ujawniają wymiar aplikacyjny dla praktyki organizacyjnej.
This study is devoted to the issue of the professional functioning of managers of small business units, whose work mode has changed from stationary to remote, requiring them to adapt their companies to manage their teams in new conditions and on new principles. In the context of this change, the job satisfaction of the surveyed managers (n = 42) was assessed, using Anna Zalewska's Job Satisfaction Scale. The results showed a high level of job satisfaction among 54.8% of respondents (only 9.5% of respondents had a low level of the variable), with the variables describing managerial responsibilities not significantly impacting the level of job satisfaction. The presented research reveals an application dimension for organisational practice.

The aim of the research presented in this paper was to analyse the determinants of secondary traumatic stress in emergency professions using the example of police officers during the Covid-19 pandemic. In this context, the intensity of symptoms of stress resulting from the profession performed, depending on self-efficacy, years of service and other conditions, was checked. The fear of contracting Covid-19 was also controlled. The study group consisted of 105 police officers aged from 21 to 50 (M = 34.4; SD = 7.34). The analyses showed many significant relationships. As expected, a relationship was found between years of service, self-efficacy at work, and the intensity of secondary traumatic stress disorder (STSD). Analyses also showed that the symptoms of secondary stress increase with years of service. Moreover, it was noticed that there were relationships between the analysed variables and age and self-efficacy. All these conditions constitute an important element that can constitute the basis for planning therapeutic interactions in assisting professions. It is also justified to conduct further exploration in this area.

A growing body of literature explores the underlying mechanisms and processes that enable servant leadership to impact organizational performance, engagement, and outcomes positively. This research assesses the mediation role of leader-member exchange between servant leadership and job satisfaction among employees in Kuwait's universities. The study utilized a closed-ended survey that was distributed to 240 workers, with 205 valid responses received from employees working in two private higher education sectors in Kuwait. using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was used for data analysis. The outcomes of the study demonstrated strong backing for the beneficial influence of servant leadership on leader-member exchange and job satisfaction. Furthermore, a positive correlation was established between leader-member exchange and job satisfaction among employees employed in Kuwait's private higher education sector. Moreover, the results partially validated the mediating effect of leader-member exchange in the relationship between servant leadership and employee job satisfaction. These results underscore the significance of integrating servant leadership principles into leadership approaches within this sector to improve employee satisfaction and overall organizational achievement.

Rural area represents the population with a high work capacity, but with less employment opportunities than in urban areas, so in order to have a decent job 5 (five) needs are referred to: working conditions should be safe, both physically and mentally, people should have access to medical facilities, health, working hours should be ones in which you can rest and have time for family and compensation should be acceptable for the work done. The employment opportunities that people have differ depending on the environment they come from, so in rural areas the job opportunities are discrete, as it is the quality in work, both of them depending strongly on the area characteristics - whether it is developed or underdeveloped- and by its infrastructure, always considering that agriculture is most increased activity in these areas. The study aims to map and depict the occupational situation of people living in Romanian rural areas, coping with limited job opportunities, compared to those living in towns and cities, as well as how people in rural areas choose their jobs, how the labour market has influenced them to find a suitable job and where they can get or acquire the skills they need. As people in rural areas choose to migrate, the population is an ageing one and over time, villages will depopulate and the labour force and human resources will shrink.

The present study investigated how triarchic psychopathy domains are related to self-rated organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) and whether job attitudes, such as job satisfaction and affective commitment, mediate these relationships. Results from a sample of 434 employees indicated that OCB was positively correlated with boldness, negatively with meanness, and uncorrelated with disinhibition. Structural equation modeling (SEM) demonstrated that job satisfaction and affective commitment were positively predicted by boldness and negatively by meanness. In addition, disinhibition positively predicted affective commitment. With regard to job attitudes–OCB associations, only affective commitment significantly positively predicted OCB, suggesting its mediating role in the relationships between psychopathy dimensions and OCB. These findings contribute to the literature on the underpinnings of behavioral manifestations of psychopathy in the organizational context by proposing the potential attitudinal mechanism underlying the relationships between triarchic psychopathy domains and OCB.

The main purpose of the article is to identify the main factors that have the greatest impact on building satisfaction of employees who work in Polish organizations. In addition, the author will try to identify the expectations of respondents that apply to their workplaces and identify the most important problems and barriers in the surveyed organizations, occurring in the processes of human capital management. As the main research method, in addition to the literature analysis, of course, the author chose a survey, in the form of a structured interview, with team leaders and their employees. The entire research process was carried out in 44 purposefully selected Polish organizations, in 2021 (254 employees of these organizations took part in the survey). Of course, due to the number of subjects, the study has a pilot character. Based on the analysis of the literature and the conclusions of the survey, 4 main groups of determinants that have the greatest impact on the level of job satisfaction of respondents have been identified – they have been divided into professional and nonprofessional factors. In addition, the author described the main barriers that generate the most problems and dysfunctions that accompany respondents during their work.

Opis:
Background. The study aimed to examine the level of satisfaction of nursing staff with their professional work and determining the factors influencing this satisfaction. Material and methods. The research was conducted in 2020 in Podkarpackie Voivodeship, Poland, and comprised 435 nurses. The data were collected using the authors’ questionnaire, the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire, and the Job Satisfaction Scale. Results. More than half of respondents are satisfied with their work and working conditions. Regarding problematic situations at work, 59.3% received sufficient help from other staff members. The main reason for dissatisfaction among nurses was low salary and working under pressure (>50%). Conclusions. According to the results, the nursing staff are devoted to their work and, in most cases, find it satisfying. Working with other people and providing help in difficult situations is of high value to all of them. It influences their job satisfaction, often undermined by difficult working conditions, low pay, and immense pressure.
Wprowadzenie. Materiał i metody.

Opis:
Background Job satisfaction is one of the key factors related to the work efficiency of nursing staff. Its level may affect the degree of the professional’s commitment to work and effectiveness in performing their professional tasks. For a modern organisation, job satisfaction is associated with a number of benefits for both the employee and the employer. Job satisfaction of nurses is extremely important due to their professional tasks being related to the care of patients. Nurses with low levels of job satisfaction may have less capabilities to provide high quality care and thus maintain a high level of patient satisfaction. Material and Methods This was a cross-sectional observational study which included 302 people practising the profession of a nurse and employed in a hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic. The level of job satisfaction was assessed using the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ), which was preceded by questions characterising the research group. The questionnaire was delivered to the respondents in electronic form. Results The respondents obtained an average result in terms of the level of job satisfaction (M±SD 58.53±11.42). The highest rated area was the chance to do something good for other people (M±SD 3.85±0.87), and the lowest rated areas included: the method of work evaluation and the remuneration system (M±SD 2.24±0.74), the chances for advancement (M±SD 2.38±0.94) and the chance to take up senior positions (M±SD 2.39±0.88) as well as the number of tasks to be performed during the working day (M±SD 2.40±0.86). Conclusions In this study, average values of the level of job satisfaction were obtained. A higher level of job satisfaction was shown by those employed in a non-infectious hospital and those with higher monthly earnings. Employers’ policy should focus on improving working conditions, the remuneration system and promotion opportunities.

Opis:
Purpose – This paper aims to investigate the interplay between international migration, soft skills and job and life satisfaction after returns. Design/methodology/approach – The paper uses the dataset of Human Capital in Poland 2010–2014 representative surveys with 4040 return migrants, who worked temporarily abroad and returned to an origin in comparison with almost 70,000 stayers, who never worked abroad. In this study, Poland is treated as a strategic research site for the labor migration processes, which happened after the biggest European Union enlargement in 2004. Findings – This study discovered that working abroad had a positive relation with cognitive, intrapersonal and interpersonal competencies, as well as job and life satisfaction. However, the relations differ depending on the key destination country. Practical implications – his study discusses the implications for future research and practice, offering recommendations to organizations on how to embed employees with these resources in companies and how to support return migrants and their potential employers with the use of migratory informal human capital in personnel management and counseling. Originality/value – This paper brings quantitative arguments about the hidden impacts of international migration on human capital by uniquely comparing the migrant population with the non-migrant population.

Opis:
Do analizy materiału badawczego zastosowano elementy statystyki opisowej i korelacyjnej (współczynnik korelacji liniowej rho-Spearmana). Wyniki: Problematyka zależności zadowolenia z pracy od motywów wyboru zawodu stanowi przedmiot niniejszych analiz empirycznych. Uzyskane wyniki badań potwierdzają w pełni przyjęte założenie o istotnej zależności między tymi zmiennymi. Wnioski: Wybierając zawód nauczyciela, osoby kierują się głównie motywacją wewnętrzną, a więc osobistymi zainteresowaniami, chęcią pracy z dziećmi i młodzieżą, swoistym powołaniem pedagogicznym.
Introduction: Job satisfaction is a function of meeting the employee’s needs and depends on his individual professional expectations and motives for choosing a profession and the extent to which they have been fulfilled in a specific work situation. Thus, individual needs motivating the choice of the teaching profession are an important factor determining the extent to which the current work is beneficial for them. Thus, it is a typical psychological reaction to a professional situation, expressed through affective reactions and cognitive assessments. Job satisfaction plays an important role in the professional development of teachers, their effective performance and gives them a sense of quality of life. Research Aim: The aim of the research was to determine the relationship between the motives for choosing a profession and teachers’ job satisfaction. Method: The study used the method of diagnostic survey, survey technique and questionnaire. Elements of descriptive and correlation statistics (rho-Spearman linear correlation coefficient) were used for the analysis of the research material. Results: The issue of the dependence of job satisfaction on the motives for choosing a profession is the subject of these empirical analyses. The obtained research results confirm the fully adopted assumption of a significant relationship between these variables. Conclusions: When choosing the profession of a teacher, people are guided mainly by internal motivation, i.e. personal interests, willingness to work with children and youth, a specific pedagogical vocation. For a significant number of teachers, an important motive is also the teacher’s convenient working time and job security guaranteed by law. The structure of internal motives shaped in this way fundamentally determines teachers’ satisfaction with their profession.
