The article concerns the poetry of priest Jan Twardowski. This Catholic priest in his literary works focused on the problem of the relationship between God and man. The poet takes up difficult topics. He does not shy away from showing the issues of suffering, pain and the negative emotions associated with these feelings. Contrary to many religious artists, Twardowski does not show strong tensions in the relationship between God and man. It shows that you can also go through dramatic experiences without losing faith and trust in the Creator. His consistent work not only stands out from the background of Polish religious poetry, but also brings hope and optimism to the readers.

In the present article a linguistic image of animals, excerpted from poems of Twardowski, compared with his translation to Russian are the object of analysis. The subject matter of the works concentrates on the most important existential problems and sacrum. Proposed analysis is located in investigative model of cultural linguistics which links to cognitive paradigm, while taking into account the strategies and techniques used translation. The monolingual analysis specified types and characteristics of animals, whereas bilingual analysis showed what happens with the linguistic image of love when it is transfered to other language, in this case to Russian language.

The subject of research in this article are Jan Twardowski’s poems translated into Russian and compared to their original Polish versions. A purpose of the study was to check whether formal-esthetical equivalence within the scope of expressive names’ translation has been achieved. The issue of stylistic devices is crucial for poetry. The analysis of the original Polish texts indicates a conscious use of *diminutives or *augmentatives by the author in order to approximate a religious sphere to a reader. The comparison of bitexts allows to establish techniques used by translators in the translation process (literary translation, reproduction, tropization, detropization), aiming at achieving the equivalent esthetic effect and transposing an innovative language of faith to the level of Russian language and culture.

Opis:
In the present article Jan Twardowski’s poems translated into Russian compared with original texts are the object of analysis. The subject matter of the works is concentrating around the most important existential problems. Irrespective of the subject matter of works, an orientation on the sacrum is one of main features of Twardowski’s poetry. Proposed analysis is situated in investigative model of cultural linguistics, referring to the cognitive paradigm. The linguistic image of the angel is investigated in two dimensions. The angel’s attributes in JOS of Polish language were specified within the limits of monolingual analysis, whereas bilingual analysis showed what happens with the JOS when it is transferred to other language, in this case to Russian language.

Teresy z Lisieux, zwanej „małą Teresą”. Mazan-Mazurkiewicz porównuje twórczość księdza i karmelitanki, a także ich osobowości i życiorysy (przede wszystkim duchowe). Praca wyróżnia się rzetelnością badawczą, wrażliwością i lojalnością wobec tekstu. Świadczą o tym chociażby świetne interpretacje wierszy (np. Niewidoma dziewczynka i Wierzę), a także tematy (telefon, pocałunek, para ...) i metafory.
Monograph of Alicja Mazan-Mazurkiewicz Liryka ks. Jana Twardowskiego. Spotkanie ze św. Teresą z Lisieux is a reading of the works of a priest-poet through the prism of the person and the work of Saint Teresa of Lisieux, called “little Teresa”. It compares the works of a priest and Carmelite nun, as well as their personalities and biographies (above all – spiritual). The work is distinguished by research reliability, sensitivity and loyalty to texts. This is demonstrated by, for example, great interpretations of poems (e.g. Niewidoma dziewczynka and Wierzę), as well as themes (telephone, kiss, couple ...) and metaphors.

W poezji Jana Twardowskiego można zauważyć zbieżność myślenia i języka poetyckiego z postulatami postsekularyzmu, a szczególnie z teologią wydarzenia i pojęciem słabości Boga J.D. Caputa. Proponuję spojrzenie na wiersze Twardowskiego z perspektywy postsekularnej – poprzez wytoczenie siedmiu „ścieżek” interpretacji: 1. prowadzenia do Boga w swojej wszechmocy nieobecnego; 2. bycia przezroczystym wobec wydarzania się Boga; 3. patrzenia „całkiem inaczej” dzięki zdziwieniu; 4. wskazania Boga słabego; 5. porzucenia teologicznej rutyny; 6. zerwania z logiką; 7. wskazania na język tej poezji, który łamie schematy pisania o Bogu (w zakończeniu).
In the poetry of Jan Twardowski, one can notice the convergence of thinking and poetic language with the postulates of postsecularism, especially with the theology of the event and the concept of the weakness of God J.D. Caputo. I pro-pose to look at Twardowski’s poems from a postsecular perspective, delineating seven “paths” of interpretation: the first one leads to God who is absent in his omnipotence; the second is the path of being transparent to God’s happening; the third path is looking “completely different” thanks to surprise; the fourth path is an indication Weak God; the fifth – abandoning the theological routine; the sixth – breaking with logic and ending; the seventh path is an indication of the language of this poetry, which breaks the patterns of writing about God.

The article presents priest Jan Twardowski as a poet who perfectly understood the needs of his small readers, children. The narrator, who makes an appeal to a reader, is a priest who delicately acquaints readers with the problem of faith, love, suffering, despair and death. Jan Twardowski often used to say during interviews that ‘religion is like an educational class in the spirit of Christian culture’. It is a smile and a tear that matter as this is the sphere children operate in. One does not need to instruct’. A child should judge itself on its own and understand that it can do many good things in life. In his works, priest Jan Twardowski gave examples of faith in the effectiveness of heroic actions. He also often highlighted that he talked to his readers and shared the faith with them as didacticism offended him. In her article, the author characterises Jan Twardowski as a subtle poet who stays away from politics and a priest who, regardless of his shyness and inability to become an entrancing speaker, reaches the hearts of numerous listeners during his sermons, especially those for children. He often used to say that when a priest sacrifices Jesus during the Holy Mass and says ‘This is my body. This is my blood’ he identifies himself with Him, not only during the Holy Mass. A priest should always be shy and humble because he was given more than others. A priest who sacrifices so many things should sanctify everything he comes across in his life: people, friendship, the books he reads and poems, if he writes them. Jan Twardowski was of the opinion that ‘in order to become a wonderful priest one first has to be an ordinary, warm-hearted and good person’.

Opis:
An author is a Polish professor of literature at the Jagiellonian Unversity in Cracow. The author shows in her book entitled The Reading "Sacred" some essays on literature and "sacred", especially she describes some Polish poetry and prose and literary letters from 20th century. She focuses on the problem hermeneutics of a text, comparatistics of literature and methodology of literature. There are many chapters on theme Polish poetry or prose, e.g. about such authors as Stanisław Barańczak, Teresa Ferenc, Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński, Julia Hartwig, Zbigniew Herbert, Zbigniew Jankowski, Wojciech Kudyba, Maria Kuncewiczowa, Czesław Miłosz, Joanna Pollakówna, Tadeusz Różewicz, Wisława Szymborska, Marcin Świetlicki, Jan Twardowski, Karol Wojtyła, Adam Zagajewski. There are some essays about foreign (e.g. French, German, Russian) authors of literature in the context of ‘sacred’: Paul Auster, Georges Bernanos, Josif Brodski, Hermann Hesse, Thomas Merton, Rainer Maria Rilke.
