Opis:
The subject of the article is the non-plasticity of intuition, understood as the low susceptibility of intuition to modification even when the subject of the intuition gets acquainted with other evidence that is not consistent with intuition. The purpose of the article is to indicate possible interpretations of the non-plasticity of intuition – in what aspect intuition can be modified, and the importance of non-plasticity of intuition for distinguishing intuition from belief.

HISTORY OF THE CONCEPT OF INTUITION
INTUITION
KNOWING
KNOWLEDGE
Opis:
This paper is a part of my research into the history of the concept of intuition and the category of insight in the writings of Canadian philosopher and theologian Bernard Lonergan (1904-1984). Philosophical discussions make use of many partly or totally different concepts of intuition, and the variety of those concepts is related to many aspects of intuition: the type of 'object' that intuition is; the way intuition grasps its object; its epistemic functions, etc. From the metatheoretical point of view the question is: historically, what type of 'object' (designatum) was denoted by the term intuition and its foreign language counterparts? In employing the term designatum of 'intuition' I am looking for more general categories for intuition. In classical terms, it is about finding the genus proximus for intuition. I distinguish and characterize three basic types of denotation of the term intuition: 1) (intuitive) knowing, as a cognitive act (for example insight), or as something that is not an act, or as a process; 2) (intuitive) knowledge, as propositional knowledge (propositions, beliefs) or as non-propositional knowledge (knowledge-how or knowledge by acquaintance), and 3) faculty (for example intellect) or ability (disposition) of mind to produce intuitive knowledge.

The paper is devoted to phenomenological ideas in conceptions of modern philosophy of mathematics. Views of Husserl, Weyl, Becker and Gödel will be discussed and analysed. The aim of the paper is to show the influence of phenomenological ideas on the philosophical conceptions concerning mathematics. We shall start by indicating the attachment of Edmund Husserl to mathematics and by presenting the main points of his philosophy of mathematics. Next, works of two philosophers who attempted to apply Husserl’s phenomenological ideas to the philosophy of mathematics, namely Hermann Weyl and Oskar Becker, will be briefly discussed. Lastly, the connections between Husserl’s ideas and the philosophy of mathematics of Kurt Gödel will be studied.

Opis:
The article presents problems of intellectual intuition in metaphysics from a semiotic point of view. There are various types of intuition in philosophy: rational intuition, irrational intuition, and sensual intuition. All of them are immediate ways of cognition. Classical metaphysics uses intellectual intuition as its main method to find out and justify its statements. The main problem of intellectual intuition is an intersubjective approach to the object of metaphysics. The main aim of this paper is the objectivization and rationalization of intellectual intuition in language. The semantic notion of meaning and the pragmatic notion of understanding are the fundamental tools which are used to translate the issue of intuition from the subject-ma$er level into the language level. This operation allows to look at intuition in a non-psychological manner. It enables the objectivization of the method of intellectual intuition in the light of the understanding of meanings.

Intuition may be defined as understanding or knowing something without conscious recourse to thought, observation or reason. Some see this unmediated process as somehow mystical while others describe intuition as being a response to unconscious cues or implicitly apprehended prior learning. It is one of the untapped and less acknowledged human resource. Most people do not know about their inner capability and do not use it. However, a lot of research proves that this capability can be used in an organization with very good effects.

Opis:
The problem of rational investment and allocation of funds for an agent with individual goals and experiences is presented in this paper. Simon Herbert’s model of decision making, the EPAM model of intuition as a decision tree with the accompanying Soar so!ware which is a modern cognitive architecture for modeling intelligent agents are considered. The state space and selection of decision rules for determining the optimal solution are presented, emphasizing the role of intuition. A decision making scheme is presented, leading to the acquisition of distinct experiences resulting in an increase in the procedural knowledge stored in the long-term memory. The next stage is to visualize the decision making process in the working memory in order to satisfactorily allocate funds into three categories. The results obtained indicate the intuitively correct decision according to an assumed quality factor which is the level of overall agent satisfaction. Reference is also made to the possible application of GAN neural networks, showing their potential in supporting intuitive decision making in the stock market. The considerations confirm the validity of an intuitive approach to business solutions and also enable a closer look at multidimensional aspects of intuition. The considerations confirm the validity of the intuitive approach to business solutions, as well as presenting an insight into multidimensional aspects of intuition itself.

In his first work entitled “Thoughts Concerning the True Measure of Vital Forces” Kant made an attempt to solve one of the most famous disputes of 17th-century philosophy. Though Kant’s solution is incorrect, it shows the way the philosopher usually solved philosophical problems. In his later works, written during the critical period, Kant came back to the problems he dealt with in his first essay, but the most important continuation of it can be found in the unpublished notes being part of so-called Opus postumum.

The article is an attempt to extract the sense used by Heidegger to refer to the “phenomenological interpretation of the Critique of Pure Reason”. It is shown that Heidegger’s method of interpretation means primarily being guided by the “things themselves”, and thus it assumes going beyond the text. For this reason, it must take on the character of a “dispute”. Then, a general overview of Heidegger’s interpretation of the Critique is presented. The central part of the article discusses how this phenomenological method of interpretation “works” in concreto on the example of transcendental aesthetics, in particular with regard to the phenomena and things themselves and pure intuitions.

WORLD PICTURE
Opis:
Color revolutions is a term which was widely used to describe related movements that developed in several societies in the CIS (former USSR) and Balkan states during the early 2000s. The term has also been applied to a number of revolutions elsewhere, including the Middle East. Participants in the color revolutions have mostly used nonviolent resistance, also called civil resistance. Such methods as demonstrations, strikes and interventions have been intended protest against governments seen as corrupt and authoritarian, and to advocate democracy; and they have also created strong pressure for change. These movements generally adopted a specific color or flower as their symbol. The color revolutions are notable for the important role of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and particularly student activists in organising creative non-violent resistance. Such movements have had a measure of success, for example: The Rose Revolution in Georgia (2003), The Orange Revolution in Ukraine (2004), The Tulip Revolution in Kyrgyzstan, also sometimes called the “Pink Revolution” (2005), Blue Revolution in Kuwait (2005), Green Revolution in Iran (2009), Jasmine Revolution in Tunisia (2010–2011).

The complexity of decision problems – faced by managers – eludes simple analyses, the most important managerial choices relate to situations which are variable, capricious and related to the unpredictable future. Such difficult conditions stimulate intuitive thinking. As it is defined, intuition is absolute recognition that allows us to see the problem as it is. Decision-makers use intuition not only to experience illumination, but more often to search for key information or to base their judgment on information creatively processed beyond consciousness. Each time, however, the difficulty of decision making process may encourage managers to overcome the fragility of human nature using some form of intuitive feelings.

Opis:
Although the concept of intuition has a central place in experimental philosophy, it is still far from being clear. Moreover, critics of that movement often argue that the concept of intuition in experimental philosophy does not correspond to the concept of intuition used in traditional, armchair philosophy. However, such a claim is problematic, because most attempts to define this concept are made with regard to the armchair philosophy’s point of view and not that of experimental philosophy. In the article I analyse the concept of intuition in experimental philosophy by taking into account its theoretical assumptions, and the research practice of its representatives. By analysing the most influential experimental philosophers’ views, I formulate its core characteristics. According to them, intuition is a mental state that is a reaction to the described case, which is revealed in the readiness to express a judgment about this case. Then, I investigate step by step the frequently postulated methodological, phenomenological, and etiological conditions that could narrow down the initial definition. I show that the only condition coherent with experimental philosophy’s assumptions and its practice is an etiological one, as the mental state that could be classified as intuition has to be shaped by pragmatic, and not only semantic factors. In the last parts of the text, I draw out some of the consequences of the position that I have presented, regarding the methodology of experimental philosophy and philosophy in general.
