The aim of the paper is to present intimacy coordination, a discipline that is dynamically developing in Poland. The content has been divided into three parts. The first part presents the most important principles of intimacy coordination, the basic concepts related to it and its history in the United States and Poland. The second part describes the workshops for acting students which are conducted by the intimacy coordinator Kaja Wesołek-Podziemska at The Aleksander Zelwerowicz Theatre Academy in Warsaw. The third is an attempt to reflect on the importance of including elements of intimacy coordination in the process of educating actors and actresses.

How is intimacy constructed between friends who live apart, at a long distance? Family studies have paid considerable attention to the (re)negotiation processes of personal and intimate bonds within transnational families. However, less attention has been paid to the ways in which these structural constraints affect intimate relationships between friends. As significant members of the personal networks of individuals, friends have a supportive role that, in the continuum of other personal relationships (family, co-workers, neighbors, acquaintances), is challenged by the increasing mobility that characterizes contemporary global post-industrial societies. While a significant amount of literature has underlined the negative impact of geographical distance in friendships, other studies have suggested otherwise, stressing the renewed importance of friendship ties between geographically long-distant young adults. This paper explores long distance friendships (LDFs) focusing mainly on two dimensions: the meanings given to intimacy and the practices of friendship at a distance. The main hypothesis is that transformations of intimacy between long-distant friends are likely to be associated with reconfiguration of the meanings given to friendship, as well as to the norms that regulate them. On the one hand, the erosion of friendship is associated with the impossibility of keeping a face-to-face, co-present, accompanying contact, which is part of the expected normative role of friendship. On the other hand, its reconfiguration is mostly associated with those routines and rituals that keep friendship alive by permanently reenacting a sense of self identity and “ontological security” through the “work of memory.” The role of information and communication technologies (ICT) in fostering intimacy within an LDF is also explored, as these have considerably changed the ways we relate to geographical distance and, therefore, the norms that shape intimate relationships.

Opis:
A special response to the various manifestations of posthumanistic idea may be the sense of scandal. It may be related to the lack of acceptance of the idea of non-human entity and therefore, its broad definition, and the act of inviting an entity to become creations of different ontological status. However, it appears that the scandal may have a reciprocal nature. Shocking may be both a definition formed from the anthropocentric point of view (for posthumanists) as well as from posthuman perspective, when followers of the rhetoric of openness to the “other” can manifest their disagreement over narrow vision of subjectivity. Thus the shape of the subject relations comes under an intensive discoursivisation in the sphere of social and cultural activity, which I would like to survey in this text. The article aims to show the intricate circumstances of a scandal that might arise in the discussion about subjectivity. I will demonstrate how scandal manifests itself within the three areas: interspecies relations, technological and information areas, by analyzing selected case studies within each of the areas.

A common view is that an individual delinquent can be rehabilitated in a “home” in the countryside, away from his or her original urban social ties. An ironic result is new social ties with other juvenile delinquents as they spend a considerable amount of time together at a secluded institution. Drawing on ethnographic studies in residential care institutions, this article discusses two aspects to consider when analyzing social ties in such settings: the institutional prerequisites for and the everyday achievement of isolation and intimacy.

Opis:
Labour migration between Poland and Germany poses challenges for migrant care workers as well as for their families. Migrant care workers have to develop strategies to compensate for their physical absence in the daily lives of their family members. Nevertheless, working in the domestic care, especially the so-called 24-hours-care offers several possibilities to deal with these challenges. The goal of this study was to find out how migrant care workers from Poland organize their family lives from a distance and to what extent do their employers or clients commit themselves for the cause. For the purpose of this study 26 problem-centred semi-structured interviews with mainly female and a few male commuter migrants from Poland were carried out. The data analysis identified two strategies of organizing family life during absence. One group fosters a so-called intimacy from distance or virtual intimacy. They use various media, for example the internet, mobile or landline phones, to almost continuously stay in contact with their families in Poland. The other group manages to create conditions at their workplace which allow them to bring along their family members (mainly small children) for a short period of time or even for the whole duration of the employment. This solution depends on an agreement and cooperation with their clients. It appeared that the presence of family members at the workplace brings both families (of migrant workers and of clients) closer and creates a fictive kinship. In some cases it leads to conflicts. The understanding on behalf of the employers and the possibilities to stay in an intense and regular contact with their family influence the migrants’ work satisfaction, increase their ability to cope with stress and encourages an extended sense of the term ‘family’.

The paper offers a speculative inquiry into the pragmatic possibilities of incorporating intimacy direction within the realm of Polish theatre. Drawing upon dialogues with representatives of the theatrical community, the author formulates four models. Subsequently, an analysis of the merits and drawbacks associated with each model is provided. This article aims to initiate a discussion on the implementation of solutions concerning work with informed consent and safe work with intimacy into Polish theatre.

The article is an attempt to analyse the relationship between celibacy and the way of experiencing intimacy in the life of the presbyter. The author looks for answers to the question: What is the relationship between the priest's experience of celibacy and the real experience of intimacy on the level of friendship? The article also attempts at determining certain attitudes and behaviours that can deepen the commitment to the spiritual experience of celibacy.

Childhood sexual abuse is a traumatic experience, the consequences of which are numerous in adult intimate relationships. Couples often have problems in maintaining their relationships and frequently face problems in their sexual life. Because of the consequences that they experience and which they usually do not attribute to past trauma, couples increasingly seek therapeutic help. A safe therapeutic relationship enables the formation of new neural connections and a change in relational structures. Identifying and understanding the consequences of sexual abuse with elements of dual awareness is essential for the partnership and healing of both partners. The purpose of the article is to deepen the understanding of the consequences of childhood sexual abuse for couple relationships according to the Relational Marital Therapy paradigm.

Praktyka jogi jest coraz bardziej popularną formą aktywności fizycznej zarówno w Polsce, jak i na świecie. Wpływa na poprawę stanu zdrowia, ale i stanowi element rozwoju osobistego i często także praktykę duchową. Badania na temat praktyki jogi zdominowane są jednak przez nauki o zdrowiu, zaś w naukach społecznych głównie przez psychologiczne badania oparte o techniki ilościowe, które często mają trudność w uchwyceniu zniuansowanej relacji ciało–umysł, obecnej w doświadczeniu praktyki jogi. Rzadko podejmuje się także próby zbadania związku praktyki jogi z budowaniem relacji społecznych przed jednostkę. Celem artykułu jest przybliżenie polskim czytelnikom i czytelniczkom pól badawczych, gdzie obecnie zgłębia się praktykę jogi jako zjawiska społecznego. Przyglądam się jodze jako fenomenowi historyczno-społecznemu. Przede wszystkim jednak przyglądam się badaniom na temat wpływu praktyki jogi na jednostkę, jak i podejmujących się krytycznego oglądu społeczności jogicznych, by zakończyć na studiach podejmujących temat związku praktyki jogi z relacjami interpersonalnymi. Podsumowując swój przegląd, przedstawiam także rekomendacje dla przyszłych badań na temat praktyki jogi. Artykuł może stanowić inspirację dla przyszłych badaczy i badaczek zainteresowanych praktyką jogi jako zjawiskiem społecznym, na przykład socjologów i socjolożek reprezentujących zróżnicowane dziedziny socjologii, takie jak socjologia rodziny, intymności i pary, ale także sportu, medycyny czy religii.  
Yoga practice is an increasingly popular form of physical activity both in Poland and in the world. It has a positive effect on health, but it is also an element of personal development as well as, quite often, a spiritual practice. However, research on yoga practice is dominated by health sciences, while in social sciences it exists mainly through psychological research based on quantitative techniques, which often finds it difficult to grasp the nuanced mind-body relationship present in the experience of yoga practice. It is rare that attempts are made to examine the relationship between yoga practice and building social relationships by an individual. This article aims at familiarizing Polish readers with those research fields where yoga practice is being investigated as a social phenomenon. I consider yoga as a historical and social phenomenon. Most of all, however, I recognize research on the impact of yoga practice on an individual as well as that which offers a critical analysis of yoga communities. I then conclude with studies on the relationship between yoga practice and interpersonal relations. To complete my review, I also present recommendations for future research on yoga practice. The article might be an inspiration for future researchers interested in the practice of yoga as a social phenomenon, e.g. sociologists representing various fields of sociology, such as the sociology of family, intimacy and couples, as well as sports, medicine, and religion.

Aim. The aim of this article is to examine and trace a selection of double portraits all adhering to social codes and norms, from the Renaissance to the present day depicting married couples who were well known in their day and highlighting that artistic fashion especially in northern Europe. Double portraits of a man and a woman are psychologically complex, since they usually provide a visual document of an emotional relationship. The artists’ styles of presentation analyse the characters and relationships of the couples as well as their social status. Methods. The method applied in this paper was that of a qualitative collective case-study based on specific paintings, the comparing and contrasting of which leads to general conclusions. Ten double portraits were selected. They portray well known figures and were painted by a variety of artists. In the second stage, the chosen works were sorted and catalogued chronologically to reflect diversity in terms of people, professions or status. Next, they were analysed on the basis of the language of plastic art: line, colour, light and shadow, composition and overall unifying organization. Results and Conclusions. Since art reflects reality, I demonstrated the development of the field of double portraits across time and how it clearly reflects social change in the role and perception of the wife. Parallel to the development and change in art from the 15th century to the present day, the topic of the double portrait has also changed; each era had its prevailing conventions in terms of fashion, customs, a woman’s status, the development of technology and industry, freedom, liberation, and ‘artistic license’ that surprised, shocked and changed world orders. All these left their mark on the double portrait, which has come a long way from the height of formality to the hovering Chagall and Bella, or the self-annihilation of Picasso.

Etyka intymności w reportażu filmowym – granice lub horyzonty widzenia. Ekspansja kodu obrazowego jako determinującego tworzywa komunikatów w zmediatyzowanej rzeczywistości pociąga za sobą istotne zmiany na wielu płaszczyznach życia społeczeństwa cyfrowego. Szybkość działania obrazu i silna perswazja komunikatów obrazowych, która wynika z wrażenia niepodważalności autentyczności, więzi z prawdą interpretowanej przez człowieka jako odbicie faktów czy rzeczywistości faktycznej, staje się narzędziem w sferze biznesu, mediów, polityki czy życia prywatnego. Stają się one narzędziem, które przekonuje do „kupowania”, „oglądania”, „odbierania”, do „wybrania”, do „atrakcyjności”. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest próba pokazania niektórych etycznych aspektów intymności przedstawianej w reportażu filmowym. Analizy są próbą odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy etyka stanowi granice, czy też horyzonty widzenia w przestawianiu intymności w reportażu filmowym.
Ethics of intimacy in film reportage – boundaries or horizons of vision. The expansion of the image code as a determinant of the material of messages in a mediated reality entails significant changes on many levels of digital society life. The speed of the image and strong persuasion of image messages, which results from the impression of the unquestionable authenticity, the bond with the truth interpreted by man as a reflection of facts or actual reality, becomes a tool in the sphere of business, media, politics and private life. They become a tool that persuades people to ”buy”, ”watch”, ”receive”, ”choose”, ”attract”. The aim of this article is to try to show some ethical aspects of the intimacy presented in the film reportage. The analyzes are an attempt to answer the question whether ethics constitutes limits or horizons of vision in presenting intimacy in a film reportage.

Numerous diagnoses of contemporary transformations of love and eroticism emphasise the fact that the intimate life has become democratised and liberated. Anthony Giddens argues that personal relationships increasingly become compatible with the model of pure relationship, which means that they are more egalitarian and that both partners are free to choose and to negotiate the shape of their relations. Jeffrey Weeks claims that in “the world that we have won”, women, homosexuals and queers are increasingly considered as equal to heterosexual men. Most scholars agree that feminism(together with gays’ and lesbians’ movements) is one of most important factors that enabled the democratisation of intimacy. Yet, it is possible to distinguish some interesting approaches that examine the unintended consequences of women’s emancipation. Sociologists like Arlie Russell Hochschild and Eva Illouz recognise the importance of feminism in democratising intimacy, thus they also claim that liberation of women has entailed rationalisation and commercialisation of intimacy. One of Hochschild’s main thesis is that feminism commercialises intimacy by legitimising “the commercial spirit of intimate life”. What is more, she argues that instead of humanizing men feminism is capitalising women. On the other hand, Illouz persuades that feminism – together with therapeutic discourse – rationalises intimacy by emphasising the necessity of analysing and quantifying all aspects of intimate life. Hochschild and Illouz claim that feminism unintentionally makes intimacy “cold” – that is that it suggests focusing on personal autonomy and perceiving warm and close bonds as an endangerment for that autonomy. The cooling entails loosening of family and intimate relationships and making individuals more attached to the market. In the end, both sociologists agree that “cool” branches of feminism make women similar to men and intimacy similar to the market

Opis:
The article refers to the offence of fixation of the image of the naked person. The author tried to consider the issue of a possibility of image recognition when there was no information medium on which the image should be saved. In addition, the problem of significance of right to intimacy under art. 191a of the Penal Code was discussed. The act of playing of the image as a requirement to realize the feature of “fixation of the image” was also worth noting. Furthermore, the features of “violence” and “threat” were analyzed due to the type of resources used by the perpetrator to commit this offence. Finally, the matter of qualifying this act as an attempt to commit an offence was raised.
Przedmiotem komentowanej glosy są zagadnienia związane z przestępstwem utrwalenia nagiego wizerunku. Ponadto została poruszona kwestia możliwości jego rozpoznawalności w przypadku, gdy dane nie zostały zapisane na nośniku informacji. Podjęto również problem odtwarzania wizerunku ze względu na realizację znamienia „utrwalenia wizerunku”. Co więcej, autor podjął się analizy znaczenia prawa do intymności na gruncie art. 191a k.k. Dodatkowo zostały omówione znamiona „przemocy” oraz „groźby” z uwagi na rodzaj środków, którymi posługuje się sprawca do dokonania tego czynu. Na koniec dokonano oceny zakwalifikowania wspomnianego czynu jako usiłowanie przestępstwa.

Opis:
The commentary on the sentence of the Regional Court – October 23, 2015 concerned the issue of the fixation of the image of the naked person, who was a minor under the age of 15. The author of the essay compared legally protected interests on the grounds of art. 191a § 1 of the Penal Code and art. 202 § 4 of the Penal Code. Moreover, the feature of the “image of the naked person” on account of the factual situation was raised. Finally, the problem of inducing deceit of an image of the adolescent by the perpetrator, was discussed.
Glosa do wyroku Sądu Okręgowego z dnia 23 października 2015 r., III K 128/15 ma charakter aprobujący. Orzeczenie dotyczy zagadnienia utrwalenia wizerunku nagiej małoletniej poniżej 15 lat. Autorka podjęła próbę oceny charakteru dóbr prawnych zawartych w art. 191a § 1 k.k. oraz art. 202 § 4 k.k. Ponadto został rozważony zakres znamienia „wizerunek nagiej osoby” w kontekście stanu faktycznego, zawartego w wyroku. Na końcu został podniesiony problem wykorzystania przez sprawcę podstępu celem wykonania wizerunku pokrzywdzonej.

Opis:
This paper analyses some specific problems under article 200 § 1 of the Penal Code. The basic aim of my research was to give a relatively clear answer to the question about penalising an offender when he/she is just several years older than his/her victim or when the victim initiates sexual activities. Taking into consideration the decrease of age in which youths begin sexual initiation, it is important to know what the consequences of it in their emotional sphere are. By referring such observations to the problem of child sexual abuse, there is a dissonance between child’s acceptance of incursion in his/her intimacy and legal regulations. Therefore, child sexual abuse is not only a legal problem, but it also has influence on sexuality and the society, morality etc.
Opracowanie dotyczy przedmiotu ochrony z art. 200 § 1 kodeksu karnego, jakim jest wolność seksualna osób poniżej 15. roku życia. Podstawowym jego celem jest udzielenie względnie jednoznacznej odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy w sytuacji, kiedy sprawca jest zaledwie kilka lat starszy od pokrzywdzonego oraz w momencie, gdy ofiara sama inicjuje czynności seksualne dorosły młodociany powinien być karany zgodnie z sankcją z ww. przepisu. Mając na uwadze stale obniżający się wiek inicjacji seksualnej młodzieży, gdy osoba, która nie ukończyła 15. roku życia, dobrowolnie poddała się czynności seksualnej z osobą nieznacznie starszą (powyżej 17. roku życia, ponieważ taką granicę wieku wprowadza kodeks karny, by móc sprawcy przypisać popełnienie czynu zabronionego), powstaje dysonans prawny, moralny i obyczajowy. Z jednej bowiem strony są przepisy penalizujące takie zachowanie, z drugiej to nieletni sam przekroczył granicę ingerencji w swoją sferę intymną. W sytuacji, gdy ofiara zgadza się na kontakty seksualne albo sama zachęca czy inicjuje obcowanie płciowe lub inną czynność seksualną, neguje to cel, który przyświecał ustawodawcy kryminalizującemu takie zachowania. Tym niemniej przepisy obowiązują, w związku z czym warto przybliżyć tę tematykę w odniesieniu nie tylko do zachowania nagannego w kontekście prawnym, ale także z punktu widzenia socjologii czy obyczajności.
