    W artykule podjęto tematykę dotyczącą specyfiki ryzyka w międzynarodowych transakcjach handlowych, uwzględniając jego dynamiczny charakter oraz możliwości zarządzania nim. Przedstawiono występujące po stronie przedsiębiorców indywidualne ograniczenia, które wymuszają zaangażowanie aparatu państwowego, umożliwiając tym samym zabezpieczenie zidentyfikowanych rodzajów ryzyka na satysfakcjonującym poziomie. Wskazano na rolę państw i tworzonych instytucji w omawianych procesach. Szczególnie skupiono się na agencjach kredytów eksportowych, które pozwalają przedsiębiorcom na uzyskanie przewagi konkurencyjnej, m.in. poprzez dostęp do preferencyjnych warunków finansowania, ułatwiając realizację przyjętych przez państwo strategii w odniesieniu do poszczególnych rynków.
    The article deals with the specificity of risk in international trade transactions, taking into account its dynamic nature and its management capabilities. The attention was drawn to the individual constraints that entailed the involvement of the state apparatus, thus enabling the identified risks to be secured at a satisfactory level. In view of the above, the role of states and institutions was shown in the discussed processes. Particular attention was paid to export credit agencies which allow entrepreneurs to gain competitive advantage, among others, by providing access to preferential financing conditions, thereby enabling the country to adopt a market-specific strategy.

    This article demonstrates the assumptions of economic theory and its followers, the theories which stimulate research on the positive correlation between the success of the economy, its growth and the level of international trade. The empirical analysis of this paper examines the example of the exchange rate volatility and its influence on international trade on the basis of Ukraine. In the descriptive part of this study, which looks at the exchange rate volatility in Ukraine as a whole, the authors have aggregated the bilateral volatilities using trade shares as weights to obtain what is referred to as the “effective volatility” of the country’s exchange rates. It is summarized that the current situation in Ukraine is extremely difficult, and external financial support could alleviate the crisis. The time span used in the work includes the years from 1999 to 2014, with the help of which the authors have demonstrated the fluctuation and correlation between these two factors. From the graph it has been possible to make the conclusion that even if there was no significant visible correlation between trade and the exchange rate volatility, it does not mean that there is no relationship between these two factors, because there are a lot of factors which affect the level of trade.

    Opis:
    An intensified process of internationalization of businesses of national enterprises in connection with opening of economies of other countries to an international cooperation emphasizes the importance of a contracting party who is mainly responsible for the success of transactions. The activity of enterprises on the global market is accompanied by a multi-dimensional risk of a diverse character and intensification. This article describes one of the elements conected with a transaction risk in a foreign trade, namely delays in payments on the side of foreign purchasers. For this purpose results of a research carried out in June 2014 were used. The research was performed by Atradius Credit Insurance N. V. Joint Stock Company, under the name Payment Practices Barometer, International Survey of B2B Payment Behaviour. The article specifies main reasons of occuring of outstanding settlements and practices of Polish entrepreneurs aiming at reducing the risk of a non-payment, as well as actions taken when payments are delayed. Consequences of defaults in payments substantially endanger the activity of enterprises, the cause a deterioration of a financial liquidity, sometimes they even become the reason of enterprise's bankruptcy. Therefore, it is necessary to obtain accurate an objective information allowing to assess a contracting party's credibility and solvency. The only solution is to take up cooperation with specialized domestic and foreign institutions rendering such services.
