Opis:
Health sciences is a fairly young discipline which deals with the multi-layered analysis of such elements as health care, health system, health education. Health sciences undertake also a detailed analysis of the process of minimising the consequences of an illness while taking into account the technical and service-related background. A distinctive feature of health sciences is the fact that they integrate several disciplines from various fields of sciences such as medicine, biology, humanities, social sciences, economics, law and technical sciences etc. Health sciences have an open and dynamic network of scientific links and associations. This feature allows one to undertake interdisciplinary research within the field of social sciences. Creating health science departments at the public medical universities in Poland has resulted in heightening and diversifying their research and educational potential. By opening health sciences’ departments most of the medical schools managed to obtain an official status of a university. However in the field of health sciences the idea of universitas is transformed into the idea of diversitas – that is – an epistemic and methodological diversification. The idea of diversitas that characterises health sciences means a certain deconstruction of the monolith stability of the medical and pharmaceutical sciences. In this context it is interesting to define the university status of health sciences and their place in the structures of medical universities.

The aim of this article is to present a review of a book edited by Adam Komisarof and Zhu Hua entitled Crossing Boundaries and Weaving Intercultural Work, Life, and Scholarship in Globalizing Universities which is a collection of articles from various research disciplines and approaches to the field of intercultural studies such as cross-cultural and acculturation psychology, communication, sociology, cultural anthropology, applied linguistics, language teaching, and multilingualism studies. The editors point out that auto-ethnography is the method employed for the purposes of the volume, as it is both researcher- and reader-friendly and allows the connection of personal experiences to broader socio-cultural contexts. As the editors promise, the book provides the reader with a variety of perspectives on intercultural communication and gives an overview of how intercultural academics combine their work, life, and scholarship, and how they juggle between various perspectives, cultures, and languages.

Opis:
: In the paper, the author summarizes two basic types of methodologies which are characteristic of the humanities, including social sciences, and sciences as such, i.e. anti-naturalism and naturalism.  Then she goes on to compare their differences, pointing to the inability of arriving at a reconciled and uniform paradigm at a theoretical level. At the same time, Angutek argues that in various interdisciplinary projects the theoretical constraints are overlooked in practice,  and the rapprochement of both branches is successfully pursued at the level of high technological and communicative efficiency.  The discussed theoretical incompatibilities and the practical effective combination and application of knowledge from different fields are demonstrated on the examples taken from humanistic geography by Tommy Carlstein and Yi-Fu Tuan, as well as from Anthony Giddens’s sociological application of this geography. The author concludes that classical theoretical discourses are not relevant, while practical interdisciplinary projects overcome that gap, yielding new descriptive terminology.

Celem tego artykułu jest analiza polskich tekstów naukowych z dziedziny rachunkowości, które uwzględniają kwestie psychologiczne. Analiza dorobku polskiego środowiska naukowego jest przeprowadzona zarówno pod względem ilościowym, jak i tematycznym artykułów. Dotychczas opublikowane artykuły mają głównie charakter wprowadzający. Za szczególnie wartościowe należy uznać dogłębne i przekrojowe artykuły teoretyczne, które w sposób wszechstronny analizują konkretną zmienną psychologiczną, oraz nieliczne jeszcze artykuły empiryczne.
As a response to questioning the homo oeconomicus paradigm, psychology and psychological concepts have acquired a special meaning in economics and business, including accounting. The purpose of this paper is to analyze Polish scientific articles on accounting which take psychological issues into account. The analysis concentrates on the quantitative as well as the thematic aspect of the publications. The analyzed papers mostly have an introductory character. The most valuable contributions include theoretical papers which provide an in-depth comprehensive analysis of specific psychological variables and a number of empirical papers.

Opis:
The article presents the functional factors of geriatric hospitals and their influence on the fulfillment of the patients’ social needs. It has been assumed that there exist a number of spatial determinants that may become important elements supporting the activity of the elderly staying in geriatric hospitals.  As a result qualitative research has been performed on selected Polish and foreign examples in order to indicate recommended solutions connected with the location, the shaping of the building itself as well as selected functional zones used by the patients. Social needs of elderly patients have been discussed which is the basis for assuming specific design solutions.
W artykule przedstawiono uwarunkowania funkcjonalne i przestrzenne szpitali geriatrycznych oraz ich wpływ na realizację potrzeb społecznych pacjentów. Przyjęto założenie, że istnieje szereg uwarunkowań przestrzennych, które mogą stać się elementami wspierającymi aktywność osób starszych w szpitalach geriatrycznych. W związku z tym przeprowadzono badania jakościowe na wybranych przykładach polskich i zagranicznych, w celu wskazania rozwiązań rekomendowanych związanych z lokalizacją, kształtowaniem samego budynku oraz wytypowanych stref funkcjonalnych służących pacjentom. Przedstawienie potrzeb społecznych stanowiło punkt wyjścia do przyjęcia konkretnych rozwiązań projektowych.

Opis:
The article discusses the interdisciplinary approaches to the study of regional economic systems and an integrated approach to the theory and methods of spatial development in spatial progress analysis. In addition, the administrative and the reproduction approaches of scientists to the assessment of specific territorial entities are analysed. Attention is paid to the manifestation forms of the reproduction stages with a complete cycle. Examples of specific national systems’ development and political institutions are considered ed, and also the important processes directly impacting on the regionalization are highlighted. For example, economic disciplines characterize the region as spatial, socio-economic integrity, where the main processes of material production take place and the integrity of the reproduction base is preserved. The approaches of various scientific disciplines in the research on regional economic systems and specific recommendations for their development are shown.
W artykule omówiono aspekty gospodarki przestrzennej, które są częścią badań systemowych, skoncentrowanych na pomiarze efektów ekonomicznych w przestrzeni i osiąganiu ogólnej równowagi społecznej. Zwraca się uwagę na metody zagospodarowania przestrzennego, jak również na formy manifestacji etapów reprodukcji z pełnym cyklem. Dziś problemy regionalne wymagają większej uwagi, gdyż gospodarka przestrzenna staje się głównym przedmiotem stosunków gospodarczych i politycznych. W tej sytuacji ważne jest określenie specyfiki i priorytetów badań interdyscyplinarnych regionów, opartych na przewagach komparatywnych regionu, cechach jego rozwoju historycznego i kulturowego. W związku z tym artykuł bada interdyscyplinarne podejście do oceny rozwoju heterogenicznych formacji terytorialnych. Przedstawia podejścia różnych dyscyplin naukowych w zakresie zarówno badań regionalnych systemów gospodarczych, jak i konkretnych wniosków do podejmowania decyzji zarządczych.

The purpose of this article is to discuss the merits of interdisciplinary research in the humanities. The discussion is conducted on the example of the volume entitled The Thing. Conceptual and Cultural Aspects, edited by Teresa Dobrzyńskaand Raya Kuncheva (2018). The volume approaches the issues of perception and presence of material objects in the linguistic picture of the world, viewed from the perspective of various humanistic disciplines, such as philosophy, semiotics, linguistics and literature. This interdisciplinary research is also cross-cultural in character, being the result of the studies of Bulgarian, Polish and Slovenian scholars from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the New Bulgarian University, the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts. This effective mode of research provides a common ground for discussion and opens the space for dialogue between respective scholars, the disciplines they represent and the readers, going beyond the limitations of specific research areas and producing an overall picture of the object.

Article consists from two part – theoretical, which contain conceptualization of basic concepts and empirical, in which have been presented investigative hypotheses and analysis of the data obtained results conducted research in Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Ukraine in 2015. The subject of the research was: “Environmental values in the awareness of the students of humanities and life sciences from the selected European countries”. Formulate conclusions are pessimistic enough. They indicate, that level of evolution of environmental intelligence is low among students, accompanies also deficit of feature of so called environmental personality ago. The highest level of environmental intelligence have presented non-believers and persons declaring other confession. In second variable they were inhabitants of cities. Results they should present impulse for taking of next research in this range.

W ostatnich latach znacząco zwiększyła się ilość danych będących źródłem informacji na temat środowiska późnego vistulianu. Jest to rezultat zwiększonego zainteresowania badaniami osadów biogenicznych, zwierających szczątki organiczne pozwalające na rekonstrukcje warunków środowiska przyrodniczego. Cennym naturalnym archiwum są te profile ze zbiorników akumulacji bioge-nicznej, w których zarejestrowana została zmienność tego okresu zarówno pod względem ekologicznym, jak i zróżnicowania procesów morfogenetycznych. W artykule przedstawiono stanowiska regionu łódzkiego posiadające najpełniejszą dokumentację, opracowaną w ramach badań interdyscyplinarnych. Zwrócono uwagę na możliwości rekonstrukcyjne parametrów środowiska, jaką dają poszczególne analizy paleośrodowiskowe. Wskazano na przewagę stanowisk Polski Środkowej, w stosunku do stano-wisk strefy młodoglacjalnej, spowodowane wcześniejszym rozpoczęciem cyklu akumulacji biogenicznej.
In recent years, the amount of data, which yield information on the environment of the Late Vistulian, significant-ly increased. This is a result of increased interest of analyses of biogenic deposits, containing organic remains which allow to reconstruct past environmental conditions. A valuable archive are these profiles of biogenic sediments in which variation in terms of both ecology and morphogenetic processes has been registered. The article overviews these sites of the Łódź region which provide the most complete record and were analysed within the framework of interdisciplinary studies. Attention is drawn to the possibility to reconstruct environmental parameters that give the individual paleoecological analyses. It was pointed that the sites of the Central Poland have an advantage over those from the young morainic area, due to the earlier start of the bioaccumulation.

Long term interdisciplinary research in Chełm resulted reconstruction of the original arrangement of the plots in Chełm and its later transformation caused by an urban process of location. In the early medieval times Chełm was a Polish Russian borderland and it functioned as a capital city with a prince and bishop’s residence (royal since 1253), a borough and a residential and craft’s colony. Changes of spatial development of the town took place in 1392 but the town’s 13th century history and its multicultural character was respected and remained untouched.

Art therapy is a field of activity with both practical and theoretical foundations although the latter are not precisely defined. Management and quality sciences, as well as economics, include management in the healthcare sector as one of their areas of interest. Despite a wealth of literature on the subject of management in healthcare, no in-depth research on art therapy as a specific form of delivery of the therapeutic process has been conducted so far. The aim of this article is to identify potential areas for further interdisciplinary research linking the field of management and quality with health sciences and education sciences (bearing in mind that art therapy is not a separate, autonomous scientific discipline). In order to achieve this we conducted a comparative analysis of selected concepts of management and quality sciences with the scope of the subject matter of art therapy, and as a qualitative method of literature review we chose the deductive method. The outcome of the study is the development of a proposed set of areas for further interdisciplinary research linking management and quality sciences with the sciences that include art therapy. The research findings presented here highlight numerous areas of overlap between art therapy and management and quality sciences, which hold potential for application in art therapy practice and theory.

A question has been addressed, and then partly answered, namely, to what degree Jan Czochralski, an eminent and well-recognized abroad Polish crystallographer, chemist, and metallurgist, also a material (metal) scientist, should, when based on his achievements in research, belong to (physicochemical) metallurgy, or ought to be recognized rather as a (“pure”) chemist, working in a chemical fashion with metals and their impurities-containing alloys. The actual ground for trying to answer the intriguing question, relies on the fact that he performed his research entirely within physicochemical, or speci- fically, mechanochemical metallurgy of complex as well as very practical material systems that he was able to resolve successfully by his treatments. Its has been attempted to show that his type of research should be described as interdisciplinary, thus, being synergistically intermingled amongst a few cross- disciplines of technological and basic research. Astonishingly, his historical-context sensitive life, can also be viewed as the one being well networked amongst many areas of his activity, drawing him as inventor, university professor, owner, investor, art supporter, philanthropist, as well as some truly modest poetry author, or finally, husband and father of three children.
W pracy tej postawiono sobie pytanie, na które udzielono częściowej odpowiedzi, a mianowicie: do jakiego stopnia należałoby uważać postać Jana Czochralskiego, wybitnego i powszechnie znanego polskiego krystalografa, chemika oraz metaloznawcę, a także materiałoznawcę – jeśli posiłkować się jego dokonaniami naukowo-badawczymi – jako przedstawiciela metalurgii fizycznej (fizykochemicznej) lub traktować go jako („czystego”) chemika, pracującego zgodnie z arkanami tej dyscypliny z metalami i ich zawierającymi domieszki i/lub zanieczyszczenia stopami? Rzeczywista podstawa do sformułowania odpowiedzi na tak zadane intrygujące pytanie polega na tym, że badacz wykonywał z sukcesem swoje badania naukowe głównie na styku obszarów metaloznawstwa, gdzie kontekst fizykochemiczny przenika się z jego mechanicznym, ale również chemicznym odpowiednikiem, co podkreśla złożoność badanych przez niego układów, mających bardzo duże znaczenie praktyczne. Dokonano próby pokazania, że tak zaprojektowany typ badań powinien zostać opisany jako typ badań interdyscyplinarnych, w których manifestuje się synergizm poszczególnych (sub)dyscyplin, kształtujących te badania. Co zadziwiające, życie tego badacza w ówczesnym kontekście historycznym może stanowić gotowy zapis złożonego w swej naturze scenariusza, zawierającego sieć skomplikowanych wzajemnych połączeń jego indywidualnych aktywności życiowych, wskazujących na przyjmowanie przez niego wielu życiowych ról, jak choćby roli wynalazcy, profesora uniwersytetu, właściciela dóbr materialnych, inwestora, mecenasa sztuki, filantropa, jak również prawdziwie skromnego autora poezji czy też wreszcie męża i ojca trójki dzieci.

Opis:
The article describes one of strategies of conducting and presenting interdisciplinary research based on catachresis (κατάχρησις, abusio). Catachresis understood as a figure of speech and as a model of worldview displays a potential in overcoming traditional methods of academic research practice. In the article, the thesis is elaborated and substantiated through an analysis of critical writings by two researchers: Michel Foucault and Donna Haraway.

Opis:
Although museums of all kinds continue to proliferate, they have lost the capacity to generate big ideas that characterize epistemic shifts, such as evolution, the labour theory of value, or relativity. The have become echo chambers for ideas proposed elsewhere. The development of Tangible Turn in scholarly thinking is leading to a reinvigoration of knowledge claims derived from material things. Museums are well placed to participate in such reinvigoration. Yet, to do so they must overcome the taxonomic and systematic divisions that in the nineteenth century stimulated, but now inhibit creative thinking. The article suggests that the disciplinary ossification could be overcome and points at possible models and examples.
