    These considerations refer to the images and symbolic functions of the cemetery in the urban space and in the intimate experience of the individual. The analysis of two short stories by Ruth Hoffmann (Lüge/The Lie) and Heinz Piontek (Bäume im Wind/The Trees in the Wind) was inspired by geopoetics as a research orientation which consider the interaction and mutual influence of literary works and geographical region. In both stories, the cemetery is a peculiar and significant landmark in urban space, where wandering takes the heroines back. It allows them to face psychological traumas, and, consequently, experience catharsis or inner change. A place per se dedicated to death becomes for both elderly women a place of hope and a symbol of new beginning.

    Between phantasy and reality. Some comments to Dichterleben written by Heinz Piontek The novel by Heinz Piontek Dichterleben is not an autobiographical novel. Nonetheless the article tries to find correlations between statements stated by the novels character Reichsfelder and the opinions of Piontek, written by himself in his essays and interviews. The article also highlights the tendency Pioteks to “reproduce” the belonging to literary prose or lyric texts, motives and “linguistic pictures” in Dichterleben and to process them. Above that the article shows how close the phantasy and reality are connected together. It is also an attempt to show which component of the novel is most important.

    Opis:
    The above written text is a discussion about articles, books, press notes and testimonies of memory that came out after Karl Dedecius death in 2016. On the basis of written texts, the author tries to identify constant elements of reception of the translator. This is why she also returns to an earlier analysis; she uses articles and press notes that appeared in 1960’s, at the beginning of Dedecius’ translating career. The analysis of Heinz Piontek regarding Zbigniew Herbert and Tadeusz Różewicz shows that thanks to his work, Dedecius brought Polish literature closer to the average German receiver, he also build bridges between poets. The character of Dedecius that derives from the article, has been admired throughout the years for his diligence and obstinacy in bringing together the two nations – Polish and German. The aim of Dedecius was realized within his lifetime not only by translations, he also connected people from different professions together. The activities of people after the death of the “Wizard from Darmstadt” are optimistic and give, apart from few negative opinions (e.g. Ruchniewicz’s opinion), hope for the continuation of projects initiated by Dedecius.
    Der obige Text ist eine Besprechung von ausgewählten Artikeln, Büchern, Pressebeiträgen und Aktivitäten, die nach dem Tod von Karl Dedecius 2016 zum Vorschein kamen. Auf der Grundlage einiger Artikel versucht die Autorin, konstante Elemente bei der Beurteilung der Tätigkeit des Übersetzers im Laufe der Jahre auszusondern. Daher verweist sie auf Artikel und Pressenotizen, die in den 60er Jahren, am Anfang von Dedecius’ Karriere als Übersetzer und Förderer der deutsch-polnischen Beziehungen verfasst wurden. Die Analyse des Schaffens von Tadeusz Różewicz und Zbigniew Herbert, die der Kreuzburger Dichter Heinz Piontek sich vorgenommen hatte, beweist, dass Dedecius nicht nur den durchschnittlichen deutschen Leser auf die polnische Literatur aufmerksam gemacht hat, sondern auch mittels der Übersetzugen Brücken zwischen deutschen und polnischen Dichtern baute. Der Artikel zeigt Dedecius als eine Person, die seit Jahren für ihren Fleiß und ihre Beständigkeit beim Kreieren der Annäherung des deutschen und polnischen Volkes hohes Ansehen genoss. Der Übersetzer strebte danach, nicht nur mittels der Literatur, sondern auch mithilfe der Pflege der gemeinsamen Kontakte der Polen und Deutschen verschiedener Berufe die Völker einander näher zu bringen. Die Achtungserweisungen der Menschen nach Dedecius’ Tod muten optimistisch an und lasssen einigen Skeptikern (wie etwa Ruchniewicz) zum Trotz hoffen, dass das Werk von Dedecius fortgesetzt wird.
    W artykule omówiono wybrane artykuły, książki, notatki prasowe oraz dowody pamięci, które pojawiły się po śmierci Karla Dedeciusa w 2016 roku. Na podstawie wyboru tekstów autorka podejmuje próbę zdefiniowania stałych elementów w recepcji tłumacza, a w tym celu nawiązuje do analiz wcześniejszych (m.in. do artykułów i notatek prasowych), które pojawiły się w latach sześćdziesiątych XX wieku, tj. w początkowym jeszcze okresie translatorskiej działalności Dedeciusa. Analiza wypowiedzi Heinza Piontka, dotyczących Zbigniewa Herberta, Tadeusza Różewicza, dowodzi, że dzięki swej pracy Dedecius odkrył literaturę polską nie tylko dla przeciętnego odbiorcy niemieckojęzycznego, ale również budował „mosty” między poetami. Na podstawie przeprowadzonej analizy wyłania się postać Dedeciusa, który na przestrzeni lat wciąż niezmiennie był podziwiany za pracowitość i upór w dążeniu do zbliżenia polskiego i niemieckiego narodu. Cel Dedeciusa realizowany był za jego życia nie tylko za pośrednictwem tłumaczeń literatury, ale i wskutek pielęgnowania bezpośrednich kontaktów z ludźmi różnych profesji. Działania ludzi po śmierci „Czarodzieja z Darmstadt” tchną optymizmem i dają, mimo kilku głosów sceptycznych (np. opinia Krzysztofa Ruchniewicza), nadzieję na kontynuację zainicjowanych przez Dedeciusa przedsięwzięć.

    Dla Heinza Piontka (1925–2003), niemieckiego pisarza pochodzącego ze Śląska, okres największego zainteresowania trwał od lat 50. do 80. XX stulecia. Po początkowych sukcesach, odnoszonych zwłaszcza w poezji, stawiano go pośród najciekawszych zjawisk w literaturze Republiki Federalnej Niemiec. Jednak pod koniec życia znalazł się na marginesie życia literackiego i stopniowo popadł w zapomnienie. Mimo że jego teksty były tłumaczone na wiele języków obcych, on sam nigdy nie został szerzej przyswojony w Polsce. Przez wiele dziesięcioleci jedyną książką Piontka wydaną w polskim przekładzie był tom opowiadań Gorące kasztany (1966). Artykuł przedstawia polską recepcję tego pisarza od jej początków w latach 60. XX wieku do chwili obecnej. Rozpoczęta obiecująco prezentacja tego twórcy w Polsce mieści rozproszone przeważnie w prasie oraz paru antologiach przekłady jego liryki i nielicznych utworów prozą, obejmując ponadto dotyczące go szkice, recenzje, artykuły, obecność w skryptach uniwersyteckich, podręcznikach historii literatury niemieckiej i słownikach pisarzy, a w ostatnich dekadach również poświęcone mu prace naukowe (w tym monografie książkowe) polskich germanistów.
    For Heinz Piontek (1925–2003), a German writer from Silesia, the period of greatest popularity lasted from the 1950s to the 1980s. After initial success, especially in poetry, he was placed among the most interesting phenomena in the literature of the Federal Republic of Germany. However, at the end of his life he found himself on the margins of literary life and gradually fell into oblivion. Although his texts were translated into many foreign languages, he himself was never widely known in Poland. For many decades, the only book by Piontek published in Polish translation was the volume of short stories Gorące Kasztany [Hot Chestnuts] (1966). The article presents the Polish reception of this writer from its beginnings in the 1960s to the present day. The promisingly launched presentation of the writer in Poland includes translations of his poetry and few works in prose, scattered mostly in the press and in a few anthologies. It also includes sketches, reviews, articles, his presence in university scripts, textbooks on the history of German literature and dictionaries of writers, and in recent decades also in academic works (including book monographs) by Polish Germanists.
    Für Heinz Piontek, den aus Schlesien stammenden deutschen Schriftsteller, dauerte die Periode der größten Popularität von den 50er bis zu den 80er Jahren des 20. Jahrhunderts. Nach seinen ersten Erfolgen, besonders im Bereich der Lyrik, zählte er zu den interessantesten Vertretern der BRD-Literatur. Gegen Ende seines Lebens geriet er jedoch an den Rand der literarischen Öffentlichkeit, ja in Vergessenheit. Obwohl er in viele Sprachen übersetzt wurde, war er einem breiteren Publikum in Polen nicht bekannt. Über mehrere Jahrzehnte blieb der Erzählband Kastanien aus dem Feuer sein einziges Buch in polnischer Übersetzung (Gorące kasztany, 1966). Der Artikel stellt die polnische Rezeption der Werke des Schriftstellers von ihren Anfängen in der 60er Jahren bis zur Gegenwart dar. Die zu Beginn vielversprechende Präsentation des Autors in Polen erfasst verstreute Veröffentlichungen seiner Gedichte und Prosa auf Polnisch (vor allem in Zeitschriften und Anthologien), Skizzen, Rezensionen und Artikel zu seinem Werk, Erwähnungen in didaktischen Materialien, Literaturgeschichten, Lexika sowie wissenschaftliche Arbeiten (darunter Monographien) polnischer Germanisten.

    Heinz Piontek and Christa Wolf before the turnaround. A comparative study. The article is a comparative study. The aims of the study is to analyze the essays written by Heinz Piontek and Christa Wolf before the turnaround, mainly in the 1970’, and to discuss the similarities and differences between them. We can notice some points of contact in their literary work. Similar motives in similar constellations appear in both essays writing. Although they worked in different regimes, the same themes and literary tendencies are described by both of them, and some phenomenons are being similar assessed.
