Tężnie i warzelnia soli wraz z parkami Tężniowym i Zdrojowym w Ciechocinku to unikatowy zespół zabytkowych budowli i urządzeń przemysłowych. Najdawniejszy w Polsce czynny zakład przemysłowy oraz największa w Europie czynna fabryka o technologii przedindustrialnej jest artefaktem o szczególnym znaczeniu historycznym i naukowym. Wartości zabytkowego zespołu przejawiają się w autentyczności i integralności elementów, zachowaniu oryginalnej konstrukcji i formy, kontynuacji funkcji oraz harmonii z krajobrazem. Specyfiką zespołu jest harmonijna przemiana dominującej funkcji: z przemysłowej na przemysłowo-uzdrowiskową. Kiedy w latach siedemdziesiątych XIX wieku pojawiły się głosy wzywające do zamknięcia warzelni, nie zrobiono tego już tylko ze względu na funkcjonowanie uzdrowiska. Tężnie ciechocińskie tworzą jeden z największych tego typu kompleksów w Europie. Zespół nie tylko dokumentuje przeszłe procesy przemysłowe, lecz także świadczy o tendencjach modernizacyjnych gospodarki Królestwa Polskiego.
The graduation towers and saltworks along with Tężniowy and Zdrojowy parks in Ciechocinek together form a unique ensemble of heritage structures and industrial machinery. As the oldest active industrial plant in Poland and the largest actively operating factory based on preindustrial technology in Europe, they are an artifact of immense historical and academic significance. The value of the heritage site manifests itself in the authenticity and integrality of elements, the survival of the original structure and form, the continuity of function and harmony with the landscape. The complex’s specificity lies in the harmonious transformation of the predominant function: from an industrial to an industrial and resort function. When in the 1870s there appeared demands to close the saltworks, they were ignored just because of the operation of the resort. Ciechocinek’s graduation towers form one of the largest complexes of this type in Europe. The complex not only documents past industrial processes, but also presents modernization tendencies of the Kingdom of Poland’s economy.

Przeprowadzone badania dotyczą pewnych określonych miejsc na mapie Polski, które ze względu na swoiste odrębności wyróżniają się szczególnym reżimem prawnym. Prezentowany artykuł dotyczy bowiem miejscowości, w których granicach administracyjnych znajduje się obszar uzdrowiska. Celem opracowania jest opis i analiza zagadnień dotyczących nazwy uzdrowiska. Ze względu na to, że samo pojęcie uzdrowiska jest w różny sposób definiowane, przytoczono różne określenia na wyjaśnienie tego terminu wywodzące się z języka potocznego i prawnego. Następnie poddano charakterystyce założenie ustawodawcy, zgodnie z którym do nazwy miejscowości, w której granicach administracyjnych znajduje się obszar uzdrowiska, może zostać dodany wyraz „zdrój”, jeżeli podstawą leczenia uzdrowiskowego są wody lecznicze, lub wyraz „cieplice” bądź „uzdrowiska termalne”, jeżeli podstawą leczenia uzdrowiskowego są wody termalne. Przyjęte rozwiązanie wskazuje bowiem na pewne odrębności ustrojowe w zakresie możliwości używania i zmiany nazwy określającej miejscowość uzdrowiskową. Przedstawiono procedurę i tryb ustalania i zmiany nazwy gminy lub miejscowości. Poza tym poruszono problemy dotyczące prawnej ochrony nazwy uzdrowiska, ale też wskazano na pewne przywileje związane z przedmiotową nazwą związane z marketingiem terytorialnym w uzdrowisku. We wnioskach wskazano możliwe kierunki zmian w kontekście nazwy miejscowości uzdrowiskowej.
The conducted research concerns certain specific places on the map of Poland, which, due to their specific differences, are distinguished by a special legal regime. The presented article concerns the towns within which the area of the health resort is located. The aim of the study is to describe and analyze issues related to the name of the spa. Due to the fact that the very concept of a health resort is defined in various ways, various terms were quoted to explain this term, derived from colloquial and legal language. Subsequently, the legislator’s assumption was characterized, according to which the word „bath” can be added to the name of the town within the administrative borders of which the health resort area is located, if the basis for spa treatment are healing waters, or the word „hot springs” or „thermal spas” if thermal waters are the basis of spa treatment. The adopted solution indicates certain systemic differences in terms of the possibility of using and changing the name of a spa town. The procedure and procedure for determining and changing the name of a commune or town were presented. In addition, problems related to the legal protection of the spa name were raised, but also certain privileges associated with the name in question related to territorial marketing in the spa were indicated. The conclusions indicated possible directions of changes in the context of the name of the spa town.

Opis:
Purpose: the main objective of the article is to support building sustainable development of spa towns by protecting their unique resources. Design/methodology: the theses presented in the article were verified using: critical analysis of literature, document analysis, descriptive statistical analysis. Findings: on the basis of the article it can be concluded that demographic change is an important challenge for numerous areas of public policy, such as family, health care, labour market, social security, education and active leisure. The identified challenges and areas of their impact are part of a broader spectrum of reflection that should focus on a holistic approach to active policies, which are a key determinant of human capital – in which, as forecasts indicate, by 2050 people over sixty-five years of age may constitute 20% of the total population of Europe. Originality: the article enriches knowledge and develops discussion on demographic changes and the resulting great contemporary challenge for environment, institutions and people creating the future of the studied areas, which may turn out to be maintaining the professional activity of the ageing population while building modern active social and labour market policies – corresponding to the economic structure of the studied areas.

This paper discusses the importance of indoor air quality and indicates its relation with outdoor air quality in the area of spa treatment. Significant factors and sources causing indoor air pollution by particulate matter and radon are considered. Particular attention is drawn to specific functions of health resorts in spa treatment in the context of the importance of indoor and outdoor air for patients staying in the resorts. It is underlined the specificity of health resorts providing treatment for patients classified as the group most sensitive to air pollution, i.e. people with chronic respiratory diseases. The study comprised measurements of 24-h concentrations of PM10, PM2.5 and 10-minute instantaneous concentrations of radon-222 (222Rn) from February 5 to February 25, 2021 in a treatment room of one of the Polish spas located in Lower Silesia. The analysis of interactions between the concentrations of two fractions of particulates PM10 and PM2.5 was presented. The interaction and dependence of factors affecting the elevated values of concentrations of the studied pollutants were discussed. The presented analyses showed that the concentrations of the studied pollutants were influenced by air exchange and air infiltration from outside to inside. In the case of short-term measurements of 222Rn activity concentration in the air, it was found that the observed changes in hourly concentrations of 222Rn are analogous to those observed in residential buildings. For the specific time intervals, the variation of PM concentrations and 222Rn activity concentration was found to be similar.

In recent years, there has been a growing global interest in spa tourism, as well as a significant increase in social awareness of the need to care for health, physical fitness and well-being. Apart from spa tourism, ‘spa & wellness’ tourism is also very popular. Kołobrzeg, in addition to being a town largely geared towards patients, also attracts tourists who take advantage of ‘spa & wellness’ treatments. The purpose of this article is to define the essence and characteristics of spa tourism based on the example of Kołobrzeg. Spa activities are carried out in health care entities operating in the zone of the spa, places where patients are undergoing treatment or rehabilitation. These benefit from the healing natural conditions of the areas in which they operate and their microclimates. The main part of the article presents the history of spa tourism in Kołobrzeg along with an analysis of its spa offer and therapeutic profile. In addition, the empirical part discusses the results of an analysis among patients using the survey method; a large proportion of respondents were over 65, mainly female. During the study, the respondents rated various aspects of their spa stay (on a scale from 1 to 5) at a level above 4.0, which indicates the healthy condition of the spa itself and general satisfaction among patients.

Miejscowość Szczawnica, usytuowana na granicy Beskidu Sądeckiego i Pienin, stała się na początku XIX w. uzdrowiskiem. Wiązało się to z napływem turystów kuracyjnych. W przeciwną stronę rozchodziły się produkty uzyskane w uzdrowisku, m.in. wody mineralne. Niniejszy artykuł jest próbą ukazania stanu komunikacji drogowej oraz wodnej na odcinku Krościenko nad Dunajcem – Szczawnica i jego wpływu na wybrane aspekty funkcjonowania uzdrowiska.
The town of Szczawnica, situated on the border of the Beskid Sądecki and the Pieniny Mountains, became a health resort at the beginning of the 19th century. It was connected with the influx of curative tourists and outflow of products obtained in the health resort, e.g. mineral water. This article is an attempt to show the condition of road and water transport on the section Krościenko nad Dunajcem-Szczawnica and its impact on selected aspects of functioning of the health resorts.

Spa treatment, which constitutes an integral part of health care, is an organized activity consisting in providing health care services in the field of spa treatment or spa rehabilitation carried out in a spa by spa treatment facilities. In order to ensure the proper and efficient operation of this form of treatment in specially adapted facilities that are medical entities, this treatment is subject to professional supervision. Supervision over health resort treatment entails the control and evaluation of health resort treatment carried out in health resort treatment establishments. This issue is regulated primarily in the Act of 28 July 2005 on spa treatment, health resorts and health resort protection areas and in health resort communes, as well as in the Act of 15 April 2011 on medical activity. The study contains an analysis and evaluation of the legal regulations concerning the supervision of spa treatment. It discusses the basic terms related to spa issues and presents some concepts of control and supervision in terms of the doctrine. Spa supervision is characterized by specific regulations and the degree of complexity. This applies to individual issues that allow the reconstruction of the essence of supervision. These are the supervisory authorities, subject of supervision, the supervised entities, criteria and scope of supervision exercised and legal means of supervision. The authorities supervising the health resort treatment include the Minister of Health, the Voivode, the Minister of National Defense and the Minister of the Interior. In this article, in the analysis of the scope of his competences and control and supervisory powers great attention is paid to the Minister of Health as the central body of government administration in the field of matters belonging to the department of health administration managed by him. Due to the specific nature of supervision of this treatment carried out in the voivodeship, the legal position of the chief physician of the health resort, with whose help the voivode exercises this supervision, was analyzed. Since spa treatment is carried out in spa facilities in a health resort, the study contains the problem of separate control procedurescarried out in this area, within which special attention is paid to internal, management and ad hoc control.

Schorzenia narządu głosu zajmują 3 miejsce wśród rozpoznawanych chorób zawodowych w Polsce. Nadal istnieje potrzeba wdrażania skutecznych i ekonomicznych metod prewencji pierwotnej i wtórnej zaburzeń głosu u nauczycieli. Celem pracy była ocena skuteczności kompleksowej rehabilitacji głosu u nauczycieli prowadzonej w warunkach szpitala uzdrowiskowego.Materiał i metody Przedstawiono wyniki kompleksowej rehabilitacji głosu przeprowadzonej podczas 24-dniowego turnusu sanatoryjnego u 100 nauczycielek ze stażem pracy 10–30 lat (M = 17 lat). W pierwszym i ostatnim dniu turnusu wykonano badania laryngologiczne i foniatryczne [czas fonacji (maximum phonation time – MPT), ocenę percepcyjną głosu w skali GRBAS, badanie laryngowideostroboskopowe, analizę akustyczną głosu], wypełnienie Kwestionariusza samooceny głosu (Voice Handicap Index – VHI), ocenę logopedyczną i audiometrię tonalną. W zakres programu terapeutycznego wchodziły: zajęcia edukacyjne dotyczące higieny głosu, terapia głosu, fizjoterapia i psychoterapia. Efekty rehabilitacji sanatoryjnej pacjenci oceniali również w badaniu ankietowym.WynikiStwierdzono poprawę obiektywnych parametrów akustycznych, oceny percepcyjnej głosu, samoceny głosu VHI i MPT. Zmiany w sposobie fonacji potwierdzono w badaniu laryngowideostroboskopowym, w którym obserwowane zwarcie fonacyjne poprawiło się znamiennie u 30% badanych. W ankiecie oceniającej korzyści z sanatoryjnej rehabilitacji głosu 97% uczestników potwierdziło skuteczność i celowość okresowego powtarzania takiej rehabilitacji.WnioskiWyniki przedstawionych badań i pozytywne oceny uczestników rehabilitacji sanatoryjnej potwierdzają skuteczność sanatoryjnej terapii zawodowych zaburzeń głosu. Leczenie i rehabilitacja w formie stacjonarnej powinny zmierzać do poprawy głosu oraz kontynuacji pracy zawodowej. Tak ukierunkowane postępowanie może przyczynić się do zmniejszenia nakładów finansowych związanych z leczeniem, urlopami dla poratowania zdrowia i rentami zawodowymi. Med. Pr. 2021;72(4):399–405
Voice diseases occupy the third place among all of the diagnosed occupational disorders in Poland. There still exists the necessity to implement effective and economical methods of the primary and secondary prevention of voice disorders in teachers. The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of comprehensive voice rehabilitation in teachers, conducted within a health resort hospital.Material and MethodsThe results of comprehensive voice rehabilitation in 100 teachers with job seniority of 10–30 years (M = 17 years), conducted during 24-day-long staying in a sanatorium, are presented in this research. Phoniatrical and laryngological examinations (maximum phonation time [MPT], perceptual assessment of voice in GRBAS scale, laryngovideostroboscopy, and acoustic analysis of voice), self-assessment of voice (the Voice Handicap Index – VHI), logopedical estimation and audiometry were conducted during the first and the last day of the sanatorium stay. The therapeutic program included educational workshops on vocal hygiene, voice therapy, physiotherapy and psychotherapy. The inpatient therapy effects were also described by the teachers using a questionnaire.ResultsImprovements of objective acoustic parameters, a perceptual assessment of voice, and a self-assessment of VHI and MPT were observed. Phonation style changes were confirmed in the laryngovideostroboscopic examination. Phonation closure improved significantly in 30% of the examined teachers. Moreover, 97% of the participants confirmed in the questionnaire the effectiveness and purposefulness of periodic recurrence of such rehabilitation courses.ConclusionsThe results of this research as well as the positive feedback from the participants of inpatient rehabilitation confirmed the effectiveness of occupational voice disorder rehabilitation in sanatorium (inpatient) conditions. Treatment and rehabilitation in a stationary form should aim to achieve voice improvement and job continuation. Such a procedure may contribute to reducing the financial outlays related to treatment, health leaves and occupational pensions. Med Pr. 2021;72(4):399–405

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie podstawowych zagadnień z zakresu turystyki uzdrowiskowej, elementów oferty uzdrowisk, determinantów i perspektyw rozwoju turystyki uzdrowiskowej. Turystyka uzdrowiskowa staje się jedną z najdynamiczniej rozwijających się dziedzin turystyki. Związane jest to z pewnością ze starzeniem się społeczeństwa, rosnącą świadomością seniorów i modą na zdrowy styl życia oraz wzrostem zamożności społeczeństwa. Największym wyzwaniem, przed jakim stoją polskie uzdrowiska, jest wyjście poza świadczenie usług stricte leczniczych i przygotowanie się na nowego odbiorcę – nie tylko pacjenta, ale i turysty. W artykule dokonano analizy piśmiennictwa krajowego i zagranicznego oraz danych statystycznych i wniosków z własnej obserwacji.
The paper presents the fundamentals of health resort tourism as one of the forms of tourism which is dynamically developing in Poland. Health resort tourism is a fundamental branch of health tourism. It is implemented in spas where resorts are located. An important goal of this study is the synthetic characteristics of spa tourism and its development in Poland. Socio-demographic changes in Polish society and propitious conditions of Polish nature represent key factors in development of health resort tourism. These factors in health resort tourism also represent a chance for their development in the future. The paper was written based on the analysis of the related literature, statistical data and results of author’s own observation.

The spa treatment facility located in the health resort is distinguished by its specificity due to the fact that it conducts spa treatment in this type of medical entity. For the proper performance of the healing function and offering the health services for which a given spa is intended, the human factor plays an important role, taking into account the specificity of the health resort. This applies to those constituting the authorities of a health resort treatment facility, namely the manager and social committee (which in this study are limited to non entrepreneurs), as well as medical professionals and other employees. The special powers of the authorities and staff of spa treatment facilities towards the people using the health services provided there are reflected in the sources of law, which include the statute and organizational regulations of this type of medical facility. The article contains an analysis and assessment of legal regulations relating tothe scope of the activities of the authorities of this type of spa treatment facilities, with particular emphasis on the manager and social council and staff, especially person body plays a fundamental role in managing a medical facility, with responsibility for management and for all facility employees. On the other hand, the social committee, which is the collegiate body of this institution, is appointed only ina non-entrepreneurial medical facility, and this body is characterized by a specific legal nature that performs various tasks. The efficient operation of the plant is also ensured by professional medical staff, other medical workers and other employees. The legal status of company bodies and personnel is presented in terms of generally applicable regulations, as well as in the context of the organizational regulations and the statute of the spa treatment facility.

Opis:
The spa press at the beginning of the XXth century often raised issues related to tourism, sport and recreation. The columnists appreciated the importance of health and the educational potential of active forms of spending free time. Activity was given an institutionalized character. This paper presents the active forms of recreation recommended to Polish society through their presentation in the magazine “Nasze Zdroje” (1910–1914). Hence, the article indicates the active forms of recreation available in the resorts such as mountain climbing, sports tourism, and skiing, as well as discussing the content popularizing mountain trips. Tips were given on how to prepare for this type of expedition, often combined with visiting historical monuments. Summer camps, including therapeutic camps, for children and adolescents were discussed, and were strongly promoted. Proposed recreational activities in the open air (walking, playing, and games) were presented, taking into account the educational aspect: instilling healthy habits in young people and adults.
Prasa uzdrowiskowa na początku XX w. informowała czytelników o zagadnieniach związanych z turystyką, sportem i rekreacją. Publicyści doceniali znaczenie potencjału zdrowotnego i wychowawczego aktywnych form spędzania wolnego czasu. poprzez ich prezentację na łamach czasopisma „Nasze Zdroje” (1910–1914). Stąd w artykule wskazano na aktywne formy wypoczynku dostępnego w kurortach poprzez uprawianie taternictwa, turystykę sportową, szczególnie narciarstwo, a także treści popularyzujące wycieczki górskie. Przedstawiono wskazówki dotyczące sposobu przygotowania się do tego rodzaju wypraw, łączonych zresztą często ze zwiedzaniem zabytków historycznych. Omówione zostały mocno promowane w piśmie kolonie letnie i lecznicze dla dzieci oraz młodzieży. Przedstawiono prezentowane w periodyku propozycje działań rekreacyjnych na świeżym powietrzu (piesze spacery, gry i zabawy) uwzględniające aspekt wychowawczy: wpojenia młodzieży i dorosłym nawyków prozdrowotnych.

Health resort treatment is an important element of the Polish health care system. An aging population, an increase in the amount of free time and income, as well as a healthy lifestyle trend are the main factors for the development of health tourism. West Pomeranian voivodeship ranks 3rd in the country in terms of the number of health resorts, as well as is the undisputed leader in terms of the number of people visiting Polish resorts. In 2017, over 25% of patients underwent medical treatment in health resorts in West Pomeranian voivodeship. The aim of the study was to analyze the potential of health resorts in West Pomeranian voivodeship and to assess the development of tourist traffic in health resorts in recent years. West Pomeranian voivodeship observes a steady increase in the number of health resort visitors using the services offered by health establishments and a changing structure of patients in regard to the financing method – there is a growing number of people who finance their stay in the health resort on their own. In order to maintain the leading position on the market of health tourism services, it is necessary to raise the standard of health services, carry out further investments in modern health resort infrastructure that is open to innovative and unconventional solutions combining traditional and modern methods of treatment as well as preventive healthcare and leisure. There is a need to constantly adapt the health tourism product to the changing needs of patients and to create new brand of products as well as acquire new groups of recipients who finance their stay in health establishments.

Opis:
Purpose: The main aim is to analyse the influence of DT on traditional industries, here: health resort enterprises in Poland. They are mostly based on tangible resources and customers of deficient digital competences. The research leads to the identification of the scope and the trends in the DT of this particular sector. Design/methodology/approach: The research combined two approaches – the first was based on quantitative research and questionnaire as a data collecting method, and the second was based on netographic research and generic content analysis. Findings: In terms of DT, the enterprises use various strategies, they use digital resources, attempt to acquire customer’s recommendations, as well as try to establish customer-centric innovations through involving customers in co-creation processes. Research limitations/implications: The research implication for management studies is the recognition and presentation of the heterogeneity of approaches towards DT of the firms functioning in a traditional, tangible-resources-based sector. The role of digital solutions in value creation processes in such a peculiar sector was delineated. The major limitation was the small sample size and restrained generalization in conducted content analysis. Practical implications: The practical implication from a managerial perspective is to provide the basis for evaluation of prospects related to the adopted approach to the usage of different e-platforms in creating value and developing and sustaining relationships with customers. Originality/value: The article responds to the challenges related to DT and its timeliness. The paper’s value results from its topicality. It could serve as an inspiration for both science (the role of DT in value creation) and practice (sector’s evolution towards digital communication channels).

Wyjazdy zagraniczne należały do najbardziej elitarnych rozrywek ziemiaństwa w XIX w. Moda, jaka na początku XIX w. zapanowała wśród elit ziemiańskich, nakazywała bywanie w uzdrowiskach. Pobyt w nich wiązał się nie tylko z zalecanymi przez lekarzy kuracjami, ale miał także charakter towarzysko-rozrywkowy. Rodzina Skrzyńskich, posiadająca majątki ziemskie w okolicach Krosna, Dubiecka i Lwowa, w latach 50. XIX w. wyjeżdżała głównie do Karlsbadu, Ostendy i Oeynhausen w Westfalii. Celem podróży było korzystanie z tamtejszych wód leczniczych. Dla poratowania zdrowia córki Marii Emilia Skrzyńska w zimie 1877 r. spędziła trzy miesiące na południu Włoch. Ponadto panie Skrzyńskie odbyły pielgrzymkę do Lourdes we Francji, wiążąc polepszenie stanu zdrowia Marii z cudowną interwencją Matki Bożej.
Travels abroad constituted one of the most elitist pastimes of landed gentry in the 19th century. The fashion from the beginning of the 19th century among landowning elites required visiting heath resorts. Staying at such places entailed not only the treatments recommended by doctors but also was of social-entertainment nature. The Skrzyński family, possessing estates in the vicinity of Krosno, Dubiecko and Lviv in 1850s visited mainly Carlsbad, Ostend and Oeynhausen in Westfall, where they wanted to bathe in curative waters. In order to improve her daughter Maria’s health, Emilia Skrzyńska in winter 1877 spent three months in the south of Italy. Moreover, the women went on a pilgrimage to Lourdes in France, in the hope that the miraculous intervention of the Holy Virgin could improve Maria’s health.

The right to use health services, including spa treatment, is one of the basic patient rights. The specificity of the issues undertaken stems from at least two sources. First of all, patients are a special category of people, because human health, as the highest value possessed by every human being, is subject to legal protection and requires their rights and freedoms are guaranteed. Secondly, spa treatment, which is an integral part of the health care system, corresponds to art. 68 of the Polish Constitution, assuming the fundamental principle according to which every citizen has the right to health care. On the other hand, this treatment means providing health services, which are conducted only in a separate area of the spa commune – a spa and in specially adapted medical entities – spa treatment centers. The study covers the concise genesis of patient rights and the notion of the patient in terms of doctrine and legislation. Moreover, it contains the basic concepts related to spas. Recognition of the health needs of society is associated with a presentation of the individual types of spa treatment centers and spa treatment facilities, as well as the necessary conditions that they should meet. Due to the existing different status of patients in spa treatment institutions, the analysis covers the basis for admission, for referring and qualifying patients to these centers, and also the rules for using services guaranteed in the field of spa treatment. The patient’s right to health services is also examined in the context of using these services. Despite the fact that patients’ interest in this form of treatment increases every year, as is shown by the available data, there are a number of legal and organizational problems related to access to treatment as part of spa services.
