    The paper presents literary and iconographic sources referring to the stories about the god Hermes,the divine son of Zeus and Maia, born on Mount Cyllene. In this study, we discuss two mainproblems. Firstly, we consider the surviving sources related to the epithet of this god and analysewhether these differ from those stories describing the place of birth and the first days of other Olympiangods. Secondly, we examine the fairy-tale elements reflected in these stories in order to determinewhether they were merely of science-fiction character or if they were created and transformedon the basis of the cult realities connected with the god Hermes.

    Tak zwany Korpus Hermetyczny doczekał się już wielu przekładów, między innymi na język polski, choć polskie przekłady powstawały głównie na podstawie wcześniejszych tłumaczeń na inne języki nowożytne, którym pośredniczyła wersja łacińska. Długą tradycję przekładów tego filozoficzno-mistyczno-ezoterycznego dzieła zapoczątkował Marsilio Ficino w 1463 r., dokonując tłumaczenia z greki na łacinę. Łacińska wersja Korpusu do 1585 r. doczekała się aż szesnastu edycji. Nie wszystkie wydania uwzględniały również wstęp, którym Ficino opatrzył swój przekład. W owym wstępie Ficino odwołuje się do znanej mu tradycji o boskim mędrcu-proroku – zarówno antycznej, jak i wczesnochrześcijańskiej. W niniejszej pracy Ficinowski wstęp do Korpusu Hermetycznego został opatrzony własnym komentarzem wstępnym, który daje polskiemu czytelnikowi możliwość zapoznania się z ówczesnym stanem wiedzy na temat Hermesa Trismegistosa oraz interpretacją tejże wiedzy. Następnie zaprezentowane zostaje nowe polskie tłumaczenie oryginalnego wstępu Ficina, w którym tenże streścił dla swego zleceniodawcy, Kosmy Medyceusza, dostępne mu informacje o Hermesie Trismegistosie, a jednocześnie ukierunkował chrześcijańską recepcję antycznego hermetyzmu od renesansu aż do oświecenia.
    The so-called Corpus Hermeticum has had a long history of translations, initiated by Marsilio Ficino’s Latin version of the Greek original he prepared in 1463. So far Polish translations of the entire text remain rather less precise due to the fact that they are third-degree translations mediated by translations into other modern languages from the Latin version. Ficino’s Latin translation had an introduction, in which he laid out both the ancient and early Christian tradition regarding Hermes Trismegistus. The presented article provides a commentary to Ficino’s introduction and gives the Polish audience an opportunity to have all pieces of information that Ficino had access to in order to understand the knowledge of the time. Further, this paper presents the new Polish translation of Ficino’s introduction.

    This paper examines ancient glyptics that provide evidence for the merging of the cults of Thoth, the Egyptian god of wisdom and writing, and GraecoRoman Hermes/Mercury. With the use of semantics and iconological methodologies, the paper demonstrates that the popularity of the syncretic deity Hermes-Thoth was far greater than previously thought and, in fact, comparable to that of other syncretic figures, such as Hermanubis. This is possible because the analysis is not limited to the iconography of magical gems that clearly refer to this deity represented in figural form, but also encompasses symbolic amulets featuring rebuses which, if properly read, refer to Hermes-Thoth as well. It is argued that kerykeion was not the only Hellenising element used to mark Hermes’s nature in the cult of Hermes-Thoth. The article also contributes to the wider discussion on the identification and function of magical gems and amulets in general.

    Opis:
    Following the suggestions of nineteenth-century linguists (Max Müller, 1838, Monier-Williams, 1898) the author, basing on the linguistic and mythological comparative analysis, shows that the Greek good Hermes can be related to the Vedic goddess Sarama. The article firstly gives on overview of the different conceptions regarding the etymology of the theonym “Hermes”. The most popular and probable of them is the one proposed by Martin P. Nilsson (1949), who connects it with the greek noun ἕρμα ‘prop, support, reef, rock under water’. Some difficulties, which this hypothesis has given rise to, show that the problem of etymology of the name Hermes is long standing and unsolved. Thereafter, the author proves that etymologies of Hermes and Sarama can connect to the same Indo-European root *ser-. Also the oldest Greek and Vedic literature, primarily Homer’s poems, Homeric Hymn to Hermes and Rigvedic Hymn X. 108, demonstrates numerous similarities between both deities.

    In this paper product safety issues were presented from the perspective of running a socially responsible company. The first part outlined the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR). Then two initiatives related to this concept were presented, stressing the themes on consumer protection. Next the regulations and systems to ensure the health and safety of consumers were discussed.
    W artykule przedstawiona została problematyka bezpieczeństwa produktów z perspektywy działania przedsiębiorstwa społecznie odpowiedzialnego. W pierwszej części zarysowano pojęcie społecznej odpowiedzialności przedsiębiorstw (CSR). W dalszej kolejności zaprezentowano dwie inicjatywy związane z tą koncepcją, a w szczególności zwrócono uwagę na zawartą w nich tematykę ochrony konsumentów. Następnie omówiono regulacje prawne oraz systemy mające na celu zapewnienie ochrony zdrowia i bezpieczeństwa konsumentów.

    Artykuł stanowi teoretyczne poszukiwania źródeł niedojrzałości na podstawie studiów literaturowych. Krótko odwołuję się w nim do ram rzeczywistości ponowoczesnej i przechodzę do początków niedojrzałości, które w opinii badaczy znajdują swoje korzenie w okresie mitycznym. Inspirujące stają się tutaj odwołania do psychologii analitycznej Carla Gustawa Junga oraz Marie-Louise von Franz. Wreszcie, ukierunkowanie na dobę obecną, w której idee niedojrzałości zdają się osiągać apogeum, chociaż ich przyczyny wyrastają z zupełnie innych potrzeb człowieka. Moim celem jest krótki rys niedojrzałości, ukazanie wędrówki od mistycznego Hermesa do współczesnego Piotrusia Pana.
    The article constitutes the theoretical search of sources of the immaturity based on literature studies. Briefly I am appealing in it to frames of post-modern reality and I am proceeding to basics of the immaturity which in the opinion of researchers their roots are finding in the mythical period. Here cancellations of the analytical psychology of Carl Gustav Jung and Marie-Louise von Franz are becoming inspiring. Finally, directing a day current, which ideas of the immaturity seem to achieve apogee, though their causes in are growing out of completely different needs of the man. A short trait of the immaturity is my purpose, portraying the walk from mystical Hermes to the contemporary Peter Pan.

    The article explores the narrative recounted in the Homeric Hymn to Hermes for its aetiological and educational content and message. In particular, it discusses the creation of the lyre, the role of music in paideia and a less explored view of the protagonist’s cattle raid as it relates to war, sports and the education of youth. It then explores the religious context and specific meaning of Hermes slaughtering two of the stolen cows by contrasting his actions with those of Prometheus.

    The paper discusses how the major plot elements of the Homeric Hymn to Hermes (inventing the lyre, stealing Apollo's cattle and especially slaughtering it) tie in together to instruct the (male) youth on their prospective roles as responsible, cultured family supporting adults, warriors and members in their community's cults. It thus highlights the educational and paedagogical aspects of the myths featured in the poem's narrative part.

    The article is devoted to the reliefs with images of Cybele, Hermes and Hecate from Olbia and the Bosporus, which were recently dated to the first centuries AD. An early Hellenistic limestone relief bearing a similar scene discovered during excavations in Gorgippia (modern Anapa) in 2020, makes it possible to address once again the question of the origin of this subject, and the date of its appearance on the territory of the Black Sea Coast.
    Artykuł poświęcony jest reliefom z wizerunkami Kybele, Hermesa i Hekate z Olbii i Bosporu, datowanym na pierwsze wieki naszej ery. Wczesno hellenistyczny relief wapienny z podobną sceną, odkryty podczas wykopalisk w Gorgippii (współczesna Anapa) w 2020 roku, umożliwia podjęcie dyskusji na temat pochodzenia tego tematu i czasu jego pojawienia się na terytorium północnego wybrzeża Morza Czarnego
