    There are connections between the re-birth of anarchism as a social movement in the 1960s and the emergence of music and youth subcultures around the same time. This chapter explores these relations pointing out to more than simple time correlation between the two processes. The paper looks at which elements of the new wave of anarchist movement resonate the best with the D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself) punk and hardcore music scenes. The paper investigates not only organizational dimensions of the connections, but also looks at the spatial aspect.

    Opis:
    The Abode of Chaos is a complex and atypical site located in Saint-Romain-au-Mont-d'Or, France. Dating back to the XVIIth century, the site, composed of vernacular buildings and the remains of a Protestant temple demolished following the Edict of Nantes, has been the subject of a creative process for the past twenty years aimed at transforming it into a sort of “mirror of the anthropocene”. Its owner, hierry Ehrmann, has been recording the often tragic events of our world in real time, through sculptures, installations, murals or injuries inflicted on existing buildings. For the past fifteen years, the site has been threatened with disappearance by the municipal authorities, who refuse to recognise its artistic or heritage character and oppose it to town planning regulations. However, the site is very popular with a wide and diverse public. The Abode of Chaos is therefore an interesting case to ask the following question : “Does current conservation theory strike the right balance between stakeholder rights and heritage rights“?
    Abode of Chaos jest złożonym i nietypowym miejscem znajdującym się w Saint-Romain-au-Mont-d'Or we Francji. Pochodzące z XVII wieku miejsce, składające się z typowych budynków i pozostałości protestanckiej świątyni zburzonej po Edykcie z Nantes, od dwudziestu lat jest przedmiotem procesu twórczego, którego celem jest przekształcenie go w swoiste "lustro antropocenu". Jego właściciel, hierry Ehrmann, rejestruje często tragiczne wydarzenia naszego świata w czasie rzeczywistym, poprzez rzeźby, instalacje, murale lub uszkodzenia istniejących budynków. Od piętnastu lat miejsce to jest zagrożone zniknięciem z powodu władz miasta, które nie uznają jego artystycznego i zabytkowego charakteru oraz sprzeciwiają się przepisom urbanistycznym. Jednak miejsce to cieszy się dużą popularnością wśród szerokiej i zróżnicowanej publiczności. Abode of Chaos jest zatem interesującym przypadkiem, pozwala zadać pytanie: "Czy obecna teoria konserwatorska zachowuje właściwą równowagę między prawami interesariuszy a prawami do dziedzictwa"?

    Opis:
    Internet users mainly consider ‘hardcore’ in connection with something extreme (eg. sports), which ensures maximum intensity of dangerous experience or resistance to change. ‘Hardcore’ is also name of the style in music, which in the 1980s was initiated by the second wave of punk bands. At the same time it applies to the genre of electronic music. Inhomogeneous concept of hardcore is associated with its earlier use than those that we now know. The word ‘hardcore’ was also used as the name of a base for road construction (eg. small stones, pieces of brick and grits), and/or to describe difficult/extreme physical exercise. However, before the term ended up in the language of culture, it was an economic term, meaning people who were not only unemployed, but those unemployed who have been out of work for a year or longer. The word appears in the Oxford English Dictionary (1936) in a phrase ‘hard-core unemployment’ (hard core of unemployed) which can be traced to the difficult situation of people. In general, the first time it appears in 1930 in the texts by Irish parliamentarians. Then, after 1950, it is more often used to determine former prisoners, terrorists (pro-segregation), people addicted to hard drugs, and even ... Republicans. Associations with ‘hard’ pornography or hardcore bands of music meant that deadline was not included in the art and did not function as an aesthetic category. At the same time hardcore, in all its manifestations, the term exists because of its diverse literary layer, as ‘cute’ word, and many references that make it difficult to ignore.

    Opis:
    Debates in the philosophy of science typically take place around issues such as realism and theory change. Recently, the debate has been reformulated to bring in the role of experiments in the context of theory change. As regards realism, Ian Hacking’s contribution has been to introduce ‘intervention’ as the basis of realism. He also proposed, following Imre Lakatos, to replace the issue of truth with progress and rationality. In this context we examine the case of the vitalism — reductionism debate in biology inspired by the works of Indian physicist-turned-biologist Jagadish Chandra Bose (1858–1937), in the early twentieth century. Both camps had their characteristic hardcores. Vitalists led by John S. Burdon-Sanderson and Augustus D. Waller accepted religious metaphysics to support their research programme, which ultimately degenerated. Bose worked more with the ideals of science such as Occam’s razor, large-scale systematization of phenomena and novel prediction. I argue that his religious metaphysics, instead of acting as a protective shield, helped him to consolidate his position and allowed further problem shift resulting in a research programme that involved consciousness too. His research programme remains relevant even today.

    Przedmiotem artykułu jest szwajcarskie prawo konkurencji, przedstawione w zarysie w oparciu o stosowną legislację oraz orzecznictwo. W opracowaniu zaprezentowano wybrane najważniejsze aspekty (zarówno materialno-prawne, jak i proceduralne) szwajcarskiej regulacji antymonopolowej dot. inter alia zakresu jej zastosowania, organów ochrony konkurencji, a także „trzech tradycyjnych filarów prawa konkurencji”, tj. porozumień ograniczających konkurencję, nadużycia pozycji dominującej oraz kontroli koncentracji. W tekście wskazane zostały również niektóre różnice i podobieństwa z polskim i unijnym reżimem omawianej gałęzi prawa. Uwagi końcowe poświęcone zostały projektowi rychłej nowelizacji ustawy federalnej o kartelach i innych ograniczeniach konkurencji oraz kwestii zacieśniania się stosunków pomiędzy Szwajcarią i Unią Europejską w dziedzinie prawa konkurencji.
    This article focuses on Swiss competition law, as outlined on the basis of the relevant legislation and case law. The paper presents selected key aspects (in relation to both substantive and procedural law) of Swiss anti-trust law regarding, inter alia, its scope, competition protection authorities, as well as “the three traditional pillars of competition law” (agreements restricting competition, abuse of dominance and control of concentrations). Noted in the text are some of the differences and some of the similarities between Swiss, Polish and EU competition law. The imminent revision of the Federal Act on cartels and other competition restrictions is considered in the closing remarks, as is the strengthening of the relations between Switzerland and the European Union in the field of competition law.
