W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono sytuację transportu morskiego w Polsce na przestrzeni lat 2013-2015. Charakterystyce poddano cztery najważniejsze porty morskie w Gdańsku, Gdyni, Szczecinie i w Świnoujściu w zakresie, m.in. ilości przetransportowanych ładunków oraz ilości statków wpływających do nich. Wymieniono typy statków, które wykorzystywane są w Polsce do przewozów ładunków i pasażerów, podano ich wiek oraz przeznaczenie. Przedstawiono również dane dotyczące ilości przewiezionych ładunków i osób w krajach UE, które są najbardziej rozwinięte w zakresie żeglugi morskiej i porównano z sytuacją w Polsce.
This article described the situation of maritime transport in Poland over the years from 2013 to 2015. The description covered four most significant seaports, i.e. in Gdansk, Gdynia, Szczecin, and in Swinoujscie in respect of, among others, the share of freight transported and the number of ships entering the ports. Types of ships which are used in Poland for carrying freight and passengers were listed, and ships’ age and purpose were provided. The data on the share of freight and passengers carried in the EU countries which are the most developed in terms of sea transport were presented and compared to the situation in Poland.

Przedmiotem badań jest identyfikacja i ocena podstawowych zagrożeń oraz potencjalnych skutków ekonomicznych budowy drogi szybkiego ruchu Via Carpatia w aspekcie jej wpływu na porty morskie Wschodniego Wybrzeża RP. Celem opracowania jest wskazanie, iż brak koordynacji rozwoju liniowej infrastruktury transportowej z infrastrukturą punktową o kluczowym znaczeniu dla gospodarki narodowej, do której zalicza się porty morskie, może prowadzić do utraty części ich naturalnego zaplecza i w konsekwencji obniżenia międzynarodowej konkurencyjności. Rozważania te oparto na analizie rynku usług portów Gdańsk i Gdynia oraz Kłajpeda.
The research subject is to identify and assess of basic threats and potential economic consequences of the construction of the Via Carpatia high-speed road regarding its impact on the Polish East Coast’s seaports. The aim of the study is to indicate that the lack of coordination of the development of linear infrastructure with its transport nodes such as seaports, may lead both to the loss of some of their hinterland and lower international competitiveness. These considerations were based on the analysis of the market for port services of Gdańsk/Gdynia and Klaipeda.

Upamiętnienie strajkujących i 45 zabitych w grudniu 1970 roku stoczniowców, to temat artykułu. Wciąż żywa była pamięć wydarzeń, mieszkańcy wybrzeża i całego kraju oczekiwali ukarania decydentów. Tych którzy wydali rozkaz użycia siły i strzelania do robotników. A strzelała milicja i wojsko. W powszechnej opinii nie wystarczyło odsunięcie od władzy tylko Wiesława Gomułki. W trakcie pochodów pierwszomajowych, poczynając od 1971 roku , dochodziło do manifestacji przeciwko nierozliczeniu zbrodni. I pomimo restrykcji ze strony służby bezpieczeństwa i milicji o ofiarach pamiętano długie lata. Czczono ich pamięć i w trakcie świąt państwowych i w miejscu zabicia tych ludzi i na cmentarzach w rocznice Grudnia 70. Napisy i ulotki przypominające o masakrze trafiały do mieszkańców w całej Polsce. Dziś, jak oceniają autorzy artykułu - o proteście grudniowym w 1970 roku na wybrzeżu pamiętają głównie historycy.

Jak pokazują doświadczenia zagraniczne procesowi metropolizacji towarzyszy kształtowanie się terytorialnych orientacji politycznych, które muszą być oparte o identyfikację z danym terytorium. Ten rodzaj identyfikacji kształtuje się również w regionie metropolitalnym Trójmiasta, którego policentryczna struktura jest katalizatorem integracji. Sondaż uliczny przeprowadzony w Gdańsku i Gdyni w 2014 r. potwierdził silną lokalną autoidentyfikację mieszkańców obu miast. Jednak wykazał także istnienie fundamentów tożsamości metropolitalnej m. in. w formie silnego utożsamiania się respondentów z Trójmiastem czy dostrzegania wspólnoty celów rozwojowych obu miast, a co za tym idzie konieczności współpracy w ramach jednej organizacji metropolitalnej.
As foreign experiences show, the process of metropolization is accompanied by the formation of territorial political orientations, which must be based on identification with the territory. This type of identification is also occurring in the Tri-City metropolitan region, whose polycentric structure is a catalyst for the process. On the one hand, a street survey in Gdańsk and Gdynia in 2014 confirmed strong local identification of the inhabitants of both cities. On the other hand, it also demonstrated the existence of the foundations of metropolitan identity, among others, in the form of strong identification of the respondents with the Tri-City area or the perception of common development goals of both cities, and thus the need to cooperate within one metropolitan organization.

The process of institutionalization of metropolitan cooperation within the metropolitan area around Gdańsk has been the subject of a debate with the participation of local representatives of various sectors. Currently, the main entity carrying out activities on a metropolitan scale is the Gdańsk-Gdynia-Sopot Metropolitan Area Association. It has been responsible for a series of bottom-up projects, implementation of the Integrated Territorial Investments mechanism, as well as lobbying towards establishing a metropolitan union in Pomeranian Voivodship. The article describes the current conditionings that seem to be the most important for the spatial extent and objects of the cooperation in the context of the foregoing metropolitan discourse.
Proces instytucjonalizacji współpracy metropolitalnej na terenie obszaru metropolitalnego kształtującego się wokół Gdańska od początku transformacji ustrojowej stanowi przedmiot lokalnej debaty z udziałem przedstawicieli różnych sektorów. Obecnie najważniejszym podmiotem realizującym działania w skali metropolitalnej jest Stowarzyszenie Obszar Metropolitalny Gdańsk-Gdynia-Sopot, odpowiedzialne za szereg oddolnych projektów, wdrażanie mechanizmu Zintegrowanych Inwestycji Terytorialnych, a także lobbing mający doprowadzić do uchwalenia ustawy poświęconej obszarowi. W artykule uwzględniono kontekst ostatnich kilkunastu lat kształtowania się współpracy, jak również opisano aktualne uwarunkowania,które będę miały decydujące znaczenie dla jej przedmiotu i zasięgu przestrzennego.

Opis:
The problems of shaping and protection of the complexes of spatial, cultural and historical value as exemplified by the case of Oliwa, near Gdańsk, are discussed by the author. Referring to the architectonic and town planning competition for the development o f Stara Oliwa (Old Oliwa) he also draws certain general conclusions pertaining to competitions of this kind. At Oliwa, a settlement connected with the Cistercian Abbey founded there in the 12th century, certain industrial activities developed in the course of time when mills, forges and other manufacturing plants started being set up on the stream flowing that locality. Nearby, on the sea- coast, the fisherman’s village o f Jelitkowo existed since early me diaeval times. Beginning with the 16th century, the patricians of Gdańsk used to built their country residences near Oliwa (on the grounds of the village of Polanka). On the turn of the 19th, a few residential villa settlements, interesting from architectonic point of view, were added to the complex of Oliwa. Almost untouched by the hostilities of the Second World War, it has retained its most important and varied historical and spatial values, harmonized with one another and with the landscape: the seaside te r race in the east and the wodded slopes of the moraine upland and picturesque valleys in the west. The postwar period saw a dynamic development of the agglomeration o f Gdańsk. Work was taken up on modernization and integration of the band-shaped transport system of the „Tricity” (Gdańsk-Sopot-Gdynia). A few large residential estates have been s ited on the non-developed areas of the seaside terrace o f Oliwa. New building has penetrated even to the areas of Stara Oliwa not only clashing with its old buildings but even ousting the latter. The sum to tal o f the problems and difficulties involved in spatial development of Stara Oliwa turned out so large eventually that the municipal authorities have decided to examine the possibilities of their being resolved by way o f a competition. In v iew of the numerous, still preserved values of Oliwa and, also, of the necessity of reconciling those values with the complex problems of public transport system, the work on preparation of the detailed conditions of the competition was extremely difficult and lasted for a year and a half. Moreover, as has turned out in this connection, the earlier decisions of the conservator bodies and urban plans took into consideration but the most important hi:torical monuments and complexes without sufficient understanding of the significance o f the broadly conceived historical, cultural, spatial and landscape values of Stara Oliwa and its environs. Oliwa’s cultural and spatial values a s a w h o l e were neither duly appreciated and respected. Preparations for the competition brought into relief the necessity of reconsideration of a number of the decisions already made and, even, withdrawal of those on allocation of the respective building sites. They have necessitated as well a thorough review of not only the detailed plan of the whole of Oliwa but also verification of some e le ments and assumptions of the general plan. The experience acquired during the preparations for the competition discussed have revealed as well the imperative need for embracing with conservator’s protection not only the respective monuments but also larger and smaller spatial complexes and units of cultural and landscape values, inclusive of their immediate environment. Another imperative displayed by the competition was that o f a closer than so far cooperation between the conservation bodies and the authorities responsible for the preparation and approval of regional development plans, especially at the stage of drawing up those plans. The so-called Oliwa competition made a telling illustration of the significant part played in laying down the conditions of a competition which involves the problems of historical heritage, spatial, cultural and landscape aspects, by specialists emotionally engaged in protection of cultural heritage of the nation. For it was precisely during the preparations for the competition and its proceedings as such that it has turned out that, with duly thought out concepts and adequately colected and elaborated documentation, it is possible to win over proper understanding of the weight o f the problem o f rational shaping and protection o f the cultural and spatial environment not only on the part of conservators, architects and town planners but also of the authorities and the general public. The final outcome of the case of Oliwa is not merelly the positive resolution of many urgent spatial problems of that beautiful historical district and ta king up the work on a new elaboration of the detailed plan o f Oliwa as a whole, the plan based on new assumptions and directives. Its no less essential result is the fact that the case discussed has also made the local conservation bodies, the circles of town planners and architects, the authorities concerned, and the community at large, more sensitive to the question of comprehensive and hormonious shaping and protection o f the cultural and spatial values o f not solely the agglomeration of Gdańsk but the whole of the region concerned.

The idea of the study was to describe short-term and seasonal variations in the composition and abundance of zooplankton in the coastal area of the Gulf of Gdańsk at two shore stations and the influence of selected environmental factors (temperature, salinity, wind velocity) on it. The studies were based on material collected in the shallow waters of the Gulf of Gdańsk from stations located by the Marine Promenade (Bulwar Nadmorski) in Gdynia and the pier in Sopot. Samples were collected in 2001 mainly at weekly intervals using an open-type plankton net. Environmental parameters were measured at the same time. The zooplankton at the Gdynia and Sopot stations consisted of 30 taxa; Rotatoria, Copepoda and meroplankton were dominants. There was a much higher percentage of Rotatoria and a lower percentage of meroplankton at Sopot than at Gdynia. Considerable differences were apparent in the numbers of particular groups of zooplankton at these stations in the same periods. Simpson’s biodiversity index, here based on the zooplankton of the shallow waters off Gdynia and Sopot, was relatively high most of the time. Diversity of mesozooplankton was greatest in July and October. There was a significant correlation between the abundance of mesozooplankton and environmental factors in the case of cladoceran and polychaete larvae. Frequent studies at stations located close to each other illustrate the highly dynamic range of variations occurring in the coastal area: the concentrations of particular organisms fluctuated very considerably from one week to another, even by a factor of several dozen. Nevertheless, the statistically mean numbers of zooplankton at both stations are comparable.
