An integral part of historical research is to analyze the cartographic documentation for a given subject. In many cases, both the historians as well as cartographers use the same type of source but they do it in a different way. The aim of the article is to present the archival sources, mainly from the Polish and Ukrainian archives, serving both types of researchers who are dealing with administrative and political history of Galicia. The article focuses on the analysis of archival materials illustrating the administrative division of the state carried out by the Austri-an authorities after 1772, as well as, territorial structures of various religious groups present in Galicia at that time. The structures of state and church were not the same, in addition, each of the denominations existing in Galicia had its own territorial organization, which was also developing. These issues should be investigated through the use of cartographic collections confronted with a typical historical sources. Cartographic documentation to those problems consists mainly of maps and atlases developed in the late 18th and early 19th c. (by Frederic von Miege, Joseph Liesganig, Anton Mayer von Heldensfeld, Hieronymus Benedicti) and created in the mid-19th c. collections of so-called Galician Cadastre, numbering more than 40 000 maps and archival aids. They are now scattered in the Polish and Ukrainian archives. Additionally, the Austrian military maps from the late 19th and early 20th century are the other source. Basic sources to the territorial and administrative division of Galicia in the era of post-partition are preserved at the holdings of the Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine in Lviv, mainly in the fond: Galician Gover-norship. The statistical and demographic sources are also rich in information (eg. the Austrian population cen-suses). The less common types of archival records such as vital records, or public notary files and exceptionally well-preserved files of the ecclesiastical institutions of different denominations are rarely used by historians. Supplementary records for the subject are stored in other institutions in Poland (the State Archives in Kato-wice, Kraków, Przemyśl, Rzeszów and other archives and libraries in Warsaw, including the National Library, Archives of the Central Statistical Office of Poland, the Library of the Military Office for Historical Studies, The Central Military Archives, university libraries) and in the Ukraine (archives and libraries in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil) and in Austria (archives and libraries in Vienna).

Artykuł przedstawia zagadnienia dotyczące definiowania zakresu życia codziennego jako przedmiotu badań oraz jego realizacji w odniesieniu do Galicji. Obok przeglądu głównych współczesnych stanowisk historiograficznych autor prezentuje najważniejsze publikacje, jakie ukazały się po 2010 r. i dotyczyły różnych wymiarów codzienności galicyjskiej. Dorobek ten nie jest niestety obszerny, czego przyczyny tkwią zarówno w zróżnicowanym pojmowaniu codzienności, jak i innych trudnościach metodologicznych. Problemy te w powiązaniu ze złożoną bazą źródłową sprawiają, że życie codzienne w Galicji jako temat badawczy traci na popularności i jest wyprzedzany przez inne nurty historiograficzne.
The article presents issues related to the definition of the scope of everyday life as a subject of research and its implementation in reference to Galicia. Apart from the overview of the main contemporary historiographic standpoints, the author presents the most important publications (published after 2010) concerning various dimensions of everyday Galicia. Unfortunately, the spectrum of the publications is not very wide as the concept of everyday ordinariness can be perceived in different ways, which involves methodological difficulties. These issues along with the complexity of references result in the loss of popularity of everyday ordinariness in Galicia as a research subject and is superseded by other historiographic currents.
