Opis:
The present state and tendencies of the natural gas market and gas storage in Europe areaddressed in this paper and compared to the situation in Poland. The European countries are presented in view of their natural gas production, import and export vs. consumption (total and per capita) and the consumer structure. The changing consumption level is assessed as a function of the consumer's structure and quantity of consumption. This has a direct influence on the demand for natural gas storage. The author also characterizes the gas storage market in Europe, accounting for the existing and planned investments, with special emphasis on storage capacity, injection and withdrawal capacity, and also types of storages. The characteristic was based on, among others, the consumption level, home production and import in particular countries.

Opis:
Natural gas is a very important and strategic resource. In the structure of the world’s primary energy, its share is currently approx. 25 and according to the forecasts it will continue to grow. In addition, the transition the large cities to gas as the main energy resource is an effective solution for reducing harmful emissions and improving air quality. The trend of increasing consumption of natural gas causes the complex technical issues, especially the need of accurate forecasting the gas demand, design the new distribution networks and modernization of the existing systems of gas supply. This article presents a review of existing methods for gas demand forecasting based on the gas engineering literature analysis and the approach for the forecasting of gas consumption based on the analysis of the gas consumption diagrams of gas station.

Based on the data collected over a two year time period, which included temperature, wind speed and gas consumption during the day, the effects of weather factors on gas consumption in the city have been established with the use of multiple regression. The impact of a particular month, day (dummy variable) or holiday of a year on the gas consumption has also been determined. The models of linear regression and artificial neural networks have been constructed for determining the gas consumption. An attempt has been made to find the best regression models and compare them to the neural network models with the use of mean absolute percentage error (MAPE).

Opis:
Though Nigeria possesses one of the largest natural gas reserves in the world, it is unfortunate that we are still one of the major gas flaring nations in the world. Besides the grave environmental consequences of gas flaring, it is still an unwise practice considering the impeding global energy crisis within the next 50 years. In this paper, the potentials of natural gas as an untapped reserve of wealth and socio-economic power is discussed. The potential of the Nigerian gas sub-sector can be fully harnessed if the mechanisms of commercialisation in line with the gas master plan is put in motion. The completion of a comprehensive gas pipeline network and the promotion of direct foreign investment is a good means of achieving the commercialisation initiative. About $3.5bn worth of investments is coming into the country to achieve the gas flare commercialisation targets by 2020. The commercialisation programme seeks to provide a framework to eliminate gas flaring which when fully implemented would actualise potential for immense wealth laden in Nation’s gas reserves.

There is a several year experience concerning exploration and production of shale resources in the USA. First production wells started in 1996 (the history of hydraulic fracturing is even 40-50 years older), and last few years one can observe a huge impact on American economy and decreasing level of natural gas import. One can assume that the development will grow significantly and the USA will stay self-sufficient and can start exportation of hydrocarbons - especially LNG. The economy will decide about the share of the natural gas in energy mix - energy balance. In the paper there is a detailed discussion concerning economy of the shale exploration and production (i.e. the costs of drillings, services, geological conditions versus timings and schedule of production). Based on analyzed scope one can predict a stable progress in cost reduction (learning curves) linked with production of shale hydrocarbons.

According to the 2011 International Energy Agency data, 60 % of natural gas production in the US comes from unconventional sources. Currently in Europe the commercial production of shale gas has not yet been developed. However, the European Commission estimates that conventional production in those countries which have already made some progress could already start as early as 2015. The 2013 A.T. Kearney report outlines that European resources constitute 7 % of world resources, but the success of shale gas exploration in Europe will depend on a series of economic, political and geographical factors. This paper analyses the potential impact of the development of the shale gas industry in Europe, particularly recoverable potential of shale gas, its impact on the economy, overall EU energy mix, energy prices and the European job market. In addition, the paper briefly discusses the potential impact of shale gas extraction on gas imports and security of supply.

In recent years dynamic increase of orders for ships intended for liquified natural gas (LNG) shipping has been observed with simultaneous trend of increasing their transport capability. This results from the fact that natural gas has become today the third energy source worldwide just next to crude oil and coal. The fast growth of demand for natural gas and its limited resources would cause growth of its price, therefore better solutions of natural gas transport technology with respect to economy, ecology and safety should be searched for. This paper presents various technologies for natural gas transport by sea with special attention paid to some alternative methods of transport, namely: CNG and NGH ransport technologies in contrast to LNG one.

Opis:
One of the main intentions of the European Union is to create common and liberalizated market of natural gas in Europe. Actions has been taken in this area for a few years, however achived effects do not reach the aims that were assumed at the beginning. The quantity of natural gas consumption in the European Union during last years is characterized by a declining tendency (decreasing usage of natural gas in power sector, higher temperature during autumn and winter season also infulences on limiting of natural gas demand), in 2012 the consumption was forming on the level of 444 billion m3, and for example in 2008 it amounted to 497 billion m3. The regulations concerning the natural gas market embrace all of the elements which have an impact on building consolidated and liberalizated market, it means: transfer, distribution and LNG, storage. The authors of this article wants to draw one's attention to the particular role of underground gas storages and depict change of the tasks, which they have to fulfill on the liberalizating market of natural gas in Europe (ie. Price arbitration). The purpose of this article is to presentthe current situation on the market of storage services, which means available storage capacities, the level of their usage and plans regarding extension and constructing of new capacities.

Gas carriers are one of the most advanced types of ships and are equipped with the latest technological achievements. Due to the development of this industry, the demand for ethylene transport by sea has increased significantly in recent years. Nonetheless, it is one of the most problematic loads in terms of loading operations. Due to the small density differences between ethylene and nitrogen, ethylene is one of the most problematic hydrocarbons with respect to the efficient gasification of cargo tanks. Additionally, ethylene is one of the most expensive cargoes carried on gas carriers. The above aspects make it necessary to carry out a detailed analysis of the flushing of nitrogen-loaded cargo tanks with ethylene vapors to determine the range of technical parameters to enable more efficient tank gassing-up. This paper provides a detailed analysis of an experimental cargo tank gassing-up operation on an ethylene carrier. The process was carried out in accordance with previously-determined assumptions to optimize the discussed operations, assess how the cargo tank pressure influences this process, reduce cargo loss during gassing-up, and eliminate cargo loss during its cooling. The conclusions from this experiment provide guidelines for subsequent tests.

The construction of the North-South Gas Corridor, regional energy integration and international cooperation in the Visegrad Group (Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia) can be determinants for the creation of a common gas market for four Eastern Europe countries (V4). The starting point for this work is concerned with the technical possibilities, chances, threats and necessary steps for the development of the existing infrastructure. The import capacities of countries neighbouring the V4 territory and the internal gas transmission potential inside the indicated group of countries have been presented in this paper. Special attention was paid to the international possibilities of using underground gas storage. The V4 countries, in particular, were examined due to their location between the Russian Federation and Western European gas consumers, and due to the need to ensure the security of supply, volumes and directions of import and export for each from. The bringing online of the gas connection between Norway and Poland, along with the construction of the Croatian LNG terminal, and the establishment of a common gas market for deliveries inside V4 may significantly contribute to determining a new physical direction of the gas flow in this part of Europe.

Gas hydrates (clathrate hydrates) forms non-stoichiometry solid solutions compose with condensed hydrate substances closed into water crystalline lattice. Clathrates are not chemical compounds, because lattice of water crystal is stabilized by hydrogen bonds, while van der Waals forces answer for water molecules and hydrate substances influences. Their specific physical properties are utilize in various industrial fields, mainly in natural gas industry, because methane hydrate have the greatest importance. Fundamental task are now is preventing of hydrates formation in production chain (production, storage, transportation) of natural gas and crude oil, that is why to research of new prevention methods, mainly various inhibitors (kinetic, thermodynamic, dispersive, mixed) and modifiers. Many countries intensively research of storage and transport of natural gas in the hydrate form, with regard to stability in room temperature, quite low pressure and the possibility of high pressure generation without compressor application. Many researches are about surfactants which accelerate hydrates growth. Next technologies concern of purification and/or separating sour gases (carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide) from natural gas and synthetic gas (hydrogen + carbon oxide). Hydrate formation method allows to selectively separation one component from the mixture and distribution of boilingnear substances as well. Hydrate formation phenomenon is make use of desalinate sea water, paper production, food production, heat storage, and sequestration of carbon dioxide on the sea bed. Water vapor pressure over hydrates is lower than over pure water, which enable to gas drying. More often is thinking of methane production from huge deposits of methane hydrates. Production from deposit rest on destabilization methane through well known conditionings from pipelines unpluging 1) adding strong hydrogen bonds chemical substances (inhibitor), 2) increasing temperature of deposit using water vapor or hot water and gas production through another well, 3) pressure decrease in the well below stability point of hydrate formation and bottom plant to hydrates gathering from the sea bed and transport equipment onto the ship. However, above- mentioned proposals will be hard to carry out on to large scale in case of technical, economical and environmental reasons.
Kolejne technologie dotyczą oczyszczania lub/i separacji gazów kwaśnych (dwutlenek węgla, siarkowodór) z gazu ziemnego i gazu syntezowego (wodór + tlenek węgla).
